The X-Files
Created by Chris Carter
The exploits of FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully who investigate X-Files: marginalized, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena. Mulder believes in the existence of aliens and the paranormal while Scully, a skeptic, is assigned to make scientific analyses of Mulder's discoveries that debunk Mulder's work and thus return him to mainstream cases. Critics, per Wikipedia
The X-Files received positive reviews from television critics, with many calling it one of the best series that aired on American television in the 1990s. Ian Burrell from the British newspaper The Independent called the show "one of the greatest cult shows in modern television". Richard Corliss from Time magazine called the show the "cultural touchstone of" the 1990s. Hal Boedeker from the Orlando Sentinel said in 1996 that the series had grown from a cult favorite to a television "classic". The Evening Herald said the show had "overwhelming influence" on television, in front of such shows as The Simpsons. In 2012, Entertainment Weekly listed the show at No. 4 in the "25 Best Cult TV Shows…

positive · AI labelView post →Ryan Coogler says he’s rebooting ‘The X-Files’ for his mom, a major fan of the show, and she’s already read some pages: ‘She’s fired up.’
neutral · AI labelView post →A basic problem with the X-Files is that on paper Scully should be the smart one, but in the show Mulder is right 100% of the time so she looks like a fucking moron
negative · AI labelView post →A great thing about the X-Files was how every few episodes, in the midst of all the werewolf investigations etc, the show would remind you that Fox Mulder is cripplingly addicted to porn

neutral · AI labelView post →The X-Files was also very scary to me as a kid but now it's like an ASMR show with my buddies Mulder and Scully before bed
positive · AI labelView post →The JFK Files is actually a failed CBS show from the 90s made to compete with the X-Files but it was canceled after airing just 3 episodes due to viewers frustration with the protagonist being shot in the head at the end of every episode
neutral · AI labelView post →Watching the X-Files for the first time, its wild to me that while everyone talks about the aliens, no one talks about how literal GOD is an undeniable entity in the show who CONSTANTLY intervenes to send Scully messages about how important she is.
positive · AI labelView post →The Senritsu Kaiki series is a consistently thrilling wonder of low-budget horror filmmaking. Sits snugly at the intersection of the X-Files, Twin Peaks, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Kudo and Ichikawa forever.
neutral · AI labelView post →I finished watching the first season of The X-Files today. I’m afraid this show is going to become my new hyper fixation.

neutral · AI labelView post →Benny Johnson does have a history of plagiarism, so I feel obliged to point out that he's now letting a former lawmaker spew conspiracy theories on his show that sound an awful lot like a major subplot from "The X-Files."
neutral · AI labelView post →Oh this is sad. Everyone sing together: 🎶 "The X-Files is a show/ With music by Mark Snow" 🎶
neutral · AI labelView post →Bring back the network television format! 22/24 x 42-minute episodes, which allowed for important episodes, character episodes, comedy episodes, experiment episodes. Just look at a show like The X-Files. Some of its BEST episodes would be dismissed as filler these days.
neutral · AI labelView post →The X-Files started 33 years ago today. This series is back in the news, as The X-Files: I Want to Believe - Vrach Frankenshteyn, a new director's cut of the 2008 movie, arrived on Hulu/Disney+ last month, and Ryan Coogler (Sinners) wrote and directed the pilot for a reboot shortly before summer.

neutral · AI labelView post →Ryan Coogler's THE X-FILES reboot has been officially ordered to series over at Hulu. Himesh Patel & Danielle Deadwyler star. Two FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.

neutral · AI labelView post →Been rewatching the X Files series, and it's cool seeing actors who are more well known now than they were then. Seth Green is one episode. Wendell Pierce is in one. I love Pierce in the Wire, and he's been great in Elsbeth too.
positive · AI labelView post →The X Files is basically the perfect show because it's the two hottest people on the planet doing cool shit every week.
positive · AI labelView post →I hear an undulating high-pitched whistle that makes my nose bleed. _Stargate SG-1_ S10E8 "Memento Mori" This is a joke about how there are a lot of actors who portray characters in both _Stargate SG-1_ and _the X-Files_ (just like basically every other sci-fi show filmed in Canada). Carter, Hammond, Dr. Lee, etc. I found out recently that IMDb has a neat advanced search function that allows you to compare two shows to quickly see which actors appear in both:…

neutral · AI labelView post →Look, I know not every show can be the X-Files, but it has episodes that look way more effortlessly cinematic than so many modern streaming shows that try to achieve just that.
positive · AI labelView post →if it weren’t for post Cold War malaise and generalized distrust in the government, the X-Files show wouldn’t have existed to begin with.
neutral · AI labelView post →I learned the lyrics to the X-Files theme song thirty years ago (if you're too young to remember, the X-Files is a show with music by Mark Snow) and they've lived in my head as intrusive thoughts ever since

neutral · AI labelView post →Yes. And btw, as an early X-Files fan, getting renewed over and over destroyed the X-Files and turned a solid mystery box show into a treadmill
negative · AI labelView post →What TV series still entertains you, no matter how many times you’ve watched it? 📺 For me… ‘The X-Files’ 🖤
positive · AI labelView post →One of my favorite thing about The X-Files episode "Home" is how much it breaks the structure of the show. The series was not just about belief in the truth being "out there," but how one chose to interpret it. And then "Home" comes in like an axe swinging at your head. Undeniable horror.

neutral · AI labelView post →The X-Files was a great show! But this is a weird kind of nostalgia to derive from *this particular show,* which drew on a dystopian feeling of conspiracism and distrust that manifested at the time, among other things, in domestic terror attacks

neutral · AI labelView post →The X-Files debuts on Fox in 1993. The iconic horror/sci-fi/thriller series about FBI agents investigating the supernatural — and a government conspiracy — was an instant hit and ran for 11 seasons and led to two feature films, a revival and spin-off TV show. #thisdayonhalloween #halloweenhistory
neutral · AI labelView post →I've lost track of how many shows FOX cancelled because they weren't as successful as 'The X-Files'. Which is doubly absurd because that show wasn't initially wildly popular either. They cancelled 'Firefly' before it aired. Enough said.
neutral · AI labelView post →Calling all X-Files fans! In 2017, Audible made two immersive audio dramas of The X-Files with Duchovny & Anderson that fit after the TV series’ season 10 (7h 45m total audio). Audible removed them from their service but a fan preserved them on YouTube. [kottke.org]

positive · AI labelView post →The X-Files might have higher highs with individual episodes, but as an overall show Fringe is vastly superior. It's more consistent, cooler, more emotional, and more rewatchable. Fringe obviously wouldn't exist without it, but The X-Files is very dated now.
