Created by Brad Wright, Jonathan Glassner
The story of Stargate SG-1 begins about a year after the events of the feature film, when the United States government learns that an ancient alien device called the Stargate can access a network of such devices on a multitude of planets. SG-1 is an elite Air Force special operations team, one of more than two dozen teams from Earth who explore the galaxy and defend against alien threats such as the Goa'uld,… From TMDB

Stargate SG-1, particularly during earlier seasons, did very little to attract much in the way of attention from the mainstream media. The show's July 1997 pilot, "Children of the Gods" received mixed responses from publications such as The New York Times and Variety. While there was only passing interest from mainstream publications, science fiction publications such as Starburst, Cult Times and TV Zone regularly reviewed and featured SG-1. Sharon Eberson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, wrote that "Stargate SG-1's place in the sci-fi universe can be measured in longevity, spot-on cast chemistry, rabid fans who call themselves Gaters and the tough subjects it has tackled", going on to note…

And yes, there's no James Spader. But replacement Daniel, Michael Shanks, is hot as hell, especially once he gets rid of the floppy 90s haircut in S3.

As Sam says, the solution to get everybody back to normal in both episodes is to "play a little musical chairs". While this…

That wouldn’t happen now. Netflix would cancel it a week after the tenth episode for only being the second best show on tv.

In _Stargate SG-1_ S10E6 "200", during the puppet bit, there is a quick shot with Walter typing on a computer by wiggling his puppet hands over the keyboard. If you pause and look at the keyboard, a bunch of the keys spell out "ALEX SUCKS DICKS". This is likely an inside joke at the expense of the writer and script coordinator Alex Levine. Or perhaps they were…

positive · AI labelView post →I just finished my fourth rewatch of the series, and I love “Unending”, Stargate SG-1’s finale. It doesn’t have O’Neill, but it’s a lovely little character-driven piece of sci-fi, and it never fails to make me cry. Am I alone in this?
positive · AI labelView post →I watched the original RDA version as a kid. It probably had a bigger impact on my morals than my mother did (which a lot of people should be thankful for). Later in life, I realized some of his improvised tricks were complete TV logic or exaggerated for safety reasons, but a surprising number of those basic principles actually hold up in a pinch. I’ve noticed a few things where my own politics diverge from the show’s commentary over the years, but overall, it was a great series. A huge…
positive · AI labelView post →Stargate SG-1 is the best possible case for why we should not only go back to 20+ episode seasons for TV shows, but even if a TV show is bad we should just keep making it until it becomes good. Stargate went close to 100 episodes before it really found its footing, once it did it was gold!
positive · AI labelView post →I’ve been doing a #Stargate SG-1 rewatch (currently in season 5) and going back to this show after Trump, Venezuela, Greenland, tariffs etc it’s comforting and a little jarring to watch the US military exploring the galaxy and being fundamentally good and ethical.
positive · AI labelView post →I started watching #StargateSG1 almost three years ago & tonight I watched the series finale ‘Unending’. What a fantastic way to wrap up one of the greatest science fiction TV series in history. So much of Stargate was done right. I can now see why it is SO beloved by fans all over the world. The characters, the world building, the humor, the epic feel of it all. Awesome. 👏 The final scene is also great. Like the end of Next Gen, our heroes continue their mission to save the galaxy. Indeed.

I haven't been a TV watcher since years started with "19", so I first heard about *The Expanse* when Amazon took it over (and were streaming the whole thing). I think what *Stargate SG-1* did was way more disingenuous. The first episode was R-rated with nudity, profanity, and violence to match. From the second episode on it was…
