60 of 232 · most liked firstOkay so you see that thumbs up? Well there are only two options here. Yes or no. So I hit thumbs up. But please read anyway. Overall the game is pretty good. NOT GREAT. But pretty good. It pretty much does exactly what it set out to do which is why it gets a thumbs up. The voice acting is phenominal, the graphics amazing, and the story very interesting. But the gameplay is slow and a bit dull. The length of gameplay seems a bit short. And the multiplayer is a bit lackluster. All for 40…

unlabelledView post →Valiantly subpar… As there are not many noteworthy real-time strategy titles lately, I tend to jump onto any that look promising enough. For me, The Valiant seemed to be such a game, as its attempt to deliver more of a tactical, squad-based approach in a medieval setting caught my interest, reminding me of what Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II brilliantly brought thirteen years ago. Thirteen! And yet it was way better than this mess… That is a shame, especially since it has a solid premise,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After 4.1hrs, 4 campaign missions and a couple skirmishes for first impressions, I can say that The Valiant has a ton of things going for it, and I was enjoying myself and excited about the game while playing it. However, I think ultimately it lets down the player on some key elements to the point where I wouldn't recommend it over other RTS out there. First off, the good: story, narrative, voice acting, general style. This game's campaign is essential Dawn of War II except you play as a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has a FUTURE, but right now is not good: - No replay options (paramount in RTS multiplayer). - No in-game watching. - Multiplayer is still unstable (I played 5 matches and 3 disconnected in the middle of the game). - All players have the same units (which is a mess when you have multi-unit team fights. - No option for practicing (custom maps, Bot/AI matches) which makes it difficult to figure out the interactions and effects of the units. The game has a potential, and I will probably…

I prefer games that require tactical skills as opposed to how fast your finger can twitch. I'm too old for this nonsense [ 70 yrs. ].

There's a lot of cons but it does some things well. Pros: - Good Graphics and Music - Great Voice Acting, Really great job there to sell the story. - Solid story, until the last mission. I was engaged in it until that point where the entire game was ruined for me. The cinematics were well done too, granted low budget but you can see love and…

unlabelledView post →The concept is really good, but at this stage it's extremely difficult to mange the sprawling amount of units and their multiple skills, across a map, without any option to slow or pause time (note: you can pause the game and move the camera but you can't issue orders or select skills). This type of game is much closer to Total War than it is to Total Annihilation, and as such, it absolutely needs more unit-management capabilities. Without this, you end up with a sprawling mess of units and…

unlabelledView post →Oh boy! Where do I start? The game's premise and set up is good for anyone interested in the Crusades. The settings, the graphics, the clashing of small groups of fighters are all good. Unfortunately the developers have made some reaĺly ugly design decisions. The first two campaign missions are designed as tutorials and the difficulty cannot be changed until after them. Sadly those missions are terribly unbalanced with the difficulty feeling extreme at times. You only have two groups of…

unlabelledView post →Squadbased RTS, not much in terms of building, but a solid and nicely narrated campaign (which was why I bought it). Graphics and performance are pretty neat (although (for example) Ancestors Legacy has much more visceral animations). No clue about MP modes, and I couldnt care less.

unlabelledView post →It's a pretty lame copy of Ancestors Legacy, although the story could save it, but the gameplay is unfortunately even worse than the original game. The battles are chaotic, the units do not react properly, the player just wildly clicks on the skills, waiting for some development to happen against the overwhelming hordes of enemies, until the defeat message slaps in the face. In recent years, a regrettable feature of Hungarian game development, which also happened here, is that they had a good…

unlabelledView post →6/10 just giving points for the theme. Hand drawn cutscenes are a massive turnoff. Repetitive gameplay that only offers 'respawn/buy unit' points along with waiting for the next spawn or move to this circle now is boring to put it mildly. I had high hopes for this game, enough that now I'm thinking 6/10 is far too high a rating. $40 for this is ridiculous. $25 would still be too high for whats offered. Can play older games and have a better time. I need to fume now, this was a big…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/TGz6M9eazec GOOD GAME THAT COULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT GAME !! The Valiant is a good squad-based RTS with a compelling campaign, superb graphics, and a wealth of modes to enjoy. However, it would have benefitted from a deeper base-building mechanic and a smoother difficulty curve at times. It’s a valiant effort worthy of your time and attention, but it falls just short of justifying the Holiest of crusades. Score - 8/10 ( Not too shabby but there so much more this game could…

Upfront I should say I have a major passion for the medieval period, have spent most of my life involved with it through academia, work, and hobbies. And am a huge fan of RTS and RPG games, so should be really predisposed to love this game. Story: The story is quite nicely told. The characters are pretty well written, especially for an RTS. And it does a good job of walking the line between obvious fantastic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even on "easy", it gets WAY too difficult towards the end. Just ridiculous to try and it feels clumsy. You have no idea what a lot of the perks do as it never tells you what certain stats are/mean. If you can't beat level 15 on easy, maybe it should be easier.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At this point in time it is not worth buying it at any price. rather go and buy ancestors which looks very similar but got released a long time ago and has better graphics and game-play and is like half the price. i was hoping it would be a better and improved ancestors legacy.. but it just seems like a bad clone of it. i hope this game will get a lot of updates to make sure it lives up to 2022 standards.

It appeared to me that this title took the concept of a "Hero" unit from Age of Empires 3 and really centered or focused on the "Hero unit development" and minimal focus on the Empire Development aspect of game play. It essentially looked like instead of worrying about building an empire you were more concerned with building up a bad ass military unit with your hero commander. It sounded hella fun.So I went and…

I mean, graphics are all right, story campaign is reasonable, although quite short and there are some historical weak historical references for history fans, but that's everything. Developers were clearly more into creating a succesful multiplayer game. And final boss fight is really impossible, I have completed first 15 missions on normal difficulty, but haven't been able to kill the boss…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6/10 Just wasn't for me. I was excited to give this game a try but just couldn't bring myself to go past the first campaign mission. The combat is much slower paced than expected and every objective boiled down to 'stand here and wait for more trash mobs to show up' for five minutes at a time. The voice acting and characters seemed interesting and the story appeared to be going places.
