60 of 62 · most liked firstI really love cyberpunk stories. As such, i was hooked right away by the game's premise and setting. The atmosphere is really unique and backdrops are gorgeous. The art is top notch and helps immerse you in the game. Some puzzles were a bit tricky but overall they are fairly logical and do not require pixel hunting (thank god ! I still have nightmares about some old Lucasarts or Sierra titles because of that). The story begins as a simple "get to work" mission but end up much more interesting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to recommend this, but I just can't despite getting all(?) three endings. The main reason I can't is because the story just... is... uhm... hang on, It feels like the story is trying to go three different directions, then picks direction four as it's path. I still couldn't say why the main character goes along with the second half of the game, because we already didn't trust a person who lied to us, created a fake police ID, and so on... but we still go along with that side…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the sundew is a nice-looking point & click adventure set in japan in 2054, with the expected amount of neon-fueled depression and a cyborg cop called anna as protagonist. you are forced to work on a sunday after a cyber attack on the police station and while getting prepped for your next job, something weird happens, followed by more weirdness. hard to talk about the story without spoilers, so I won't, I'll just say I didn't find it particularly interesting and the writing is iffy as well.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice pixel art point n click game with a Matrix vibe. Play as a cyborg cop in 2054 former Tokyo who is being used and abused by big tech but finds a way to break free and hit back The dystopian setting and refreshingly pragmatic main character made this game interesting for me. It plays smoothly and the puzzles are all logical.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like cyberpunk settings. And I like point&click adventures. So I should really have enjoyed this game very much, but... nope. The game feels partially unfinished and partially just broken. For starters, there are plenty of in-world objects that are labelled when you move the mouse over them but you cannot even "look" at them. They serve no purpose at all. I mean, not everything is required to have a purpose, but why hint at something that your character will not even comment on it? Then…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm thrilled to finally be able to play The Sundew, an impressive effort from solo French developer Agnès Vuillaume. I've been rooting for this project for several years. I know the project has faced some heartbreaking setbacks and some high hurdles in its path, so it's wonderful to see that the developer was able to so gracefully overcome those obstacles and release such an enjoyable, polished game. In The Sundew, we follow Anna, elite cybercop, who undertakes an unusual mission. After an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to like this moody cyberpunk point-and-click. The pixel graphics are nice, the music and ambience is atmospheric, and there are some cool and intriguing ideas in there. Sadly, the writing is quite hopeless, with overworked, heavy-handed dialog, a hard to follow plot with paper thin characters and some weird tone shifts that doesn't really work within the otherwise serious story. I get the feeling that the creators wanted to "make a cyberpunk game" more than they had an axtual…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Indie cyberpunk point’n’click. Pleasant, if stereotypical experience for those who want a dose of the trendy genre in their life. Anna is a cyborg cop with a disdain for the rules and a somewhat self-destructing side. Woken up on Sunday morning after a night of fun by her boss, she’s being sent on a mission to shoot a mysterious target. During pre-mission physical check something goes awry in the police station; not knowing what is exactly going on, Anna decides to proceed with a mission first…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a lovely little point'n'click game, I like pixel art point'n'click games and this one made me travel a bit in some kind of retro-future! You feel really well immersed in the atmosphere, thanks to the graphics and the narration, thanks for your work!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very solid game. A warm comeback to the era of point'n'click adventures. You control a female cyborg in a cyberpunk world and have to unveil the conspiracy that got her arrested. Usually you have quite a few tasks at hand, but thankfully there's always a to-do list to keep you in the loop even after breaks. I particularly enjoyed the system of collectables. I missed a few, but I liked the little endorsements in every one of those. To the fans of the genre and those who like a good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved this..... It's got depths that if you take your time, you'll see. I would love to see more from this brilliant developer. MANY thanks for providing such a fun game!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Of the few cyberpunk themed games that I've played, I ended up liking this one best. The atmosphere is a bit more interesting and unique than some others. The setting is a futuristic version of Japan, with traditional and advanced elements combined in an interesting way. The main character is edgy as you'd expect, but not outright obnoxious. The puzzles are pretty standard for a point and click game but that's not really why you play this type of game after all. The dialogues are not too…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked this point and click adventure game very much. The story was interesting and very well done. I enjoyed how the writers gradually and naturally gave you information about your character and the game world as you played instead of a data dump of sorts at the beginning or everything at the end. I thought the challenge level was just right. Moving on in the game was logical, fair, and fit with the story, but wasn’t too easy that I got bored. There are optional collectibles that were…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Passion is a double-edged sword. Full review: https://www.keengamer.com/articles/reviews/pc-reviews/the-sundew-review-futuristic-retro-or-not-pc/ On one hand, you have a spirited, ambitious attempt to create the next sweeping epic the likes people can latch onto and discuss for years to come. On the other, you have a relatively short game that does not afford the story time to develop to get to that emotional boiling point. While a pretty solid Point & Click adventure with intuitive puzzles…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm hitting thumbs up for the great artwork and for the things the game attempts -- it has a bunch of issues though: Weird and picky puzzle triggers (eg, leave a location and come back), some very barebones characters and writing throughout (but then other stuff is weirdly detailed), and some translation issues... These all gave it some artificial difficulty and gives the whole game a surreal haze. I did think the strange choices on where to put details, unexplained events, and the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't understand other negative feedbacks, but I love this game very much. A little game jewel that deserves to be more known to more gamers, especially retro adventure game lovers! The graphic is very beautiful! The game is very unique and creatively made! I would love to see more games of the same developer Agnes! There were some pixel that had wrong color or missing in the graphic, but there were very few of them, because the game wholly is awesome. I just made it to one of three (or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It does feel incomplete, rushed perhaps, as though segments were missing. But it's definitely recommendable. The fundamentals are all there and you can sense the backstory & worldbuilding are well-realised even if the finished product doesn't really do them justice. The design is excellent, with interesting & inventive scenes, and a characterful handcrafted quality. Puzzles were tricksy in that way less modern point & clicks can be, and I really enjoyed that. In itself it's a fairly good game;…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wonderful and amazing point'n'click ! Everything is there : cyberpunk city, easter eggs, a strong heroine, the fight for the truth, sassy jokes & references... Above all, clever puzzles which don't require silly logic on the contrary of lots of games of the genre. The game has definitely potential . It is about 4 hours (looked only twice to the walkthrough), the story could have been way more developed without being dull. For reference, I'm a sucker for cyberpunk atmosphere and pixelised…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a solid effort by a first time developer. You can get it on sale for not much more than $1, and it's certainly worth picking up and playing at that price if you like P&C adventure games. Even if cyberpunk is about as uncreative and unimaginative a genre as you could use at this point, it's nice to see an indie P&C game take a serious tone like The Sundew rather than trying -- and usually failing -- to be funny like the large majority of them. Also appreciate that this game has all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh, it’s okay. Biggest pro is the setting and art style. The longest chapter in the game is set in a very cool, snowy, dilapidated urban landscape. Wish we would have seen more of that. Problem is that the longest chapter in the game is also pretty useless in terms of storytelling. The whole plot gets resolved basically entirely during a massive lore-dump carried through a poorly written conversation at the end of the game. Puzzles are mostly fine, not sure what people are referring to when…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros - Cool art-style - Cool cyberpunk world, good world building, lots of lore and very imersive. - Interesting locations and characters. Lots of points of interaction. - Mostly playable with just the mouse. - Interesting mechanic with the EYEphone. - Story was okay, it kept me interested. Arguably the ending felt a bit rushed. - Auto-save (which can be turned of if that's your preference.) Manual saves are also supported regardless with a generous number of slots. - Mostly solid point and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Sundew is a great little sci-fi point and click adventure that appears to have fallen under the radar somewhat. The pixel graphics are moody and atmospheric. The music is a blend of neat chip tunes and classic arpeggiated synth stuff. The puzzles are at a comfortable level of difficulty, and the dialog gets the job done. Unfortunately it's hard to feel a connection with the characters because the protagonist is a bit mean and the plot moves forward at a pace that doesn't allow us to get to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really hope the devs are still working on improving the puzzles and adding a little more polish to The Sundew because it's loaded with potential. If you get stuck I recommend using the guide; some puzzles are a little convoluted but the story and art's worth your time. The Sundew is a decent modern point and click; it has the potential to be amazing but needs a little more TLC. The pixels are stunning, story's intriguing, writing's decent but puzzles need some work. For more niche curation,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very good point & click adventure game. With a very interesting story, atmospheric art and a few choices along the way as well. The only real downsides are: - It's fairly short (makes sense for a mostly-solo project, of course) - A few bugs (mostly graphical glitches, none major) - Some puzzles require you to leave a screen and come back without any indication that you actually did something, pretty awkward.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Sundew nails all the important parts of a good classic point&click adventure game. An engaging story, interesting characters, nice artwork, a workable game interface that doesn't get in the way, a great soundtrack and a game world with a lot of potential. That being said, the game does have some weak moments. It's relatively short (maybe ~4-6 hours to get most endings?), and there are a some areas that require pixel hunting. I also remember needing to find one particular item that is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game. I had been looking forward to playing it for quite some time since I saw the trailer a few months ago. It has a great look and feel to everything, and it was a really cool world to explore. The puzzles in general were solid, though I will say some were quite annoying and required some overly specific solutions which made them at times frustrating, but which adventure game don't have their share of have those? The hint system was perfectly done though. The few times…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's almost decent, but there's too many boring bits and fiddly stuff. It's not terrible, but only play if you've played all the best point & click adventures and still want more.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mostly mediocre, but fine enough to get on sale for point & cick enthusiasts. Story feels like it's been told a few times too many already and it has a few problems with the game only progressing after performing specific actions with no indication for what those are or why you're stuck. It's also short, which is fair for the price, but still, it's over before you could really get into it, while also letting you spend the larger middle portion of the game on plotwise unimportant stuff. Puzzles…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game in the gritty cyber-noir genre. Puzzles made sense. Protagonist is that grungy smartass we all want to be (don't lie, you do). Looking forward to future games from this team.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent, old school point-and-click - just like how they used to make 'em! Pixelated goodness and nice, big blocky text - just like we're used to of recent for this fayre. It's not cyberpunk per se - more post-apocalyptic in nature to be honest, but still a little tech noir flavour going on. If you like games like Technobabylon, the old Blade Runner point-and-click and Lacuna then this should prove an enjoyable addition to your library. The Sundew has a great story and while the only real…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A stunning aesthetic, a throbbing soundtrack, and a neon soaked future Japan to puzzle around in. The puzzles are intuitive and the game is very friendly with solves. The writing is fairly solid and the protagonist has personality. Definitely worth checking out for fans of cyberpunk stories and/or point and click adventures. Very, very cool. https://youtu.be/6ECVvIWSiwE
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice game and story. No pixel hunting or "try every combination" type of puzzles. It eliminate most of the frustration from traditional point-and-click and enable you to fully enjoy the story line. I think one of the key element of this game his its overall atmosphere, supported by its graphic design and sound track. The sound track, in particular, is quite immersive. I would strongly recommend to play it with your best sound system. I did play part of the game with an over-hear gaming…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A wonderful pixel art game, beautiful to look at, scene after scene, and quite challenging to play. It contains a lot of original ideas, bringing a surprise at almost every "click"! You get involved in the story and can't wait trying to progress, risking to loose all the funny side "bonuses" and the irony of many dialogues. Luckily you can save and go back, so you can enjoy it multiple times! Thanks for this superb creation, and congratulations!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game! As with many point-and-clicks, sometimes it's the most unlikely solution that works, but still a wonderfully made game with a great story - only wish it was longer!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Sundew, developed and published by 2054, is a cyberpunk point-and-click adventure that blends retro design sensibilities with a moody science fiction narrative. Set in a dystopian near-future Japan, the game draws heavily from classic adventure game traditions while embedding its story in a richly atmospheric world of neon-lit streets, corporate intrigue, and uneasy coexistence between humans and machines. Its design philosophy feels intentionally nostalgic, yet its themes remain distinctly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: Cyberpunk setting. Cons: some moon logic puzzles, the alphabet puzzle is glitchy, the story is a little confusing. The game still needs some polish, but overall it's a good experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good SciFi adventure game. Not perfect, but good. Especially when considering it's a first, and developed by only one person!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love cyberpunk. I love pixel art graphics. I love interactive fiction--specially point and click. Pretty much can't go wrong with this one for me. I find this game an interesting specimen because the retro aspects of the game really hold up. Certainly there's more to cyberpunk than can be contained in a sparkly cinematic, no, cyberpunk is a serenade to the materialistic techno culture with layers of apathy. Yeah, that's all here, and yet it's not too heavy really. I think this is a really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I get worried every time I open yet another pixel art Point&Click without voice acting because it's impossible to tell when it's a stylistic decision, a budget constraint or lack of effort. This one is a pleasant surprise. There are isolated weak parts where the game locks into expecting a very specific sequence of triggers and fails to telegraph it properly or the chain of events is built more around the puzzle than vice versa, but the rest of the time the game is solid with well designed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An impressive retro-styled cyberpunk adventure, pretty much made by one person. Despite a few iffy puzzles, really nails the moody future dystopia vibes, with great attention to detail and an intriguing story. Could really benefit from voice overs and a polish on that English script. Plug in baby!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth it if you like cyberpunk and point&click adventures, I wish it was a bit longer though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely art and an engaging story. I didn't want it to end so soon. :) I think the only thing missing for me would be some more ambient music throughout the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not quite Lucas Arts quality but it's a good game. A little short for my taste but maybe we'll get a sequel. Puzzle are most of the time logical and the story is nice though unfinished and some characters/arcs are left undeveloped properly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Theres many critical reviews of this game and I thoroughly liked it, so I decided to write this short review. The atmosphere is great, the story is nice and captivating and the dev (one woman on her own, I think) put a lot of effort into the game. Yes, it has its flaws because some riddles (the scrambler on the table) are not very logical. There is a guide here on Steam that helps tho, so finding the solution for this riddle was easy. The Sundew is a great little pixel point and click, if you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely recommended. Although the beginning was a bit rough and the plot didn't seem engaging, this changed after the first chapter. It reminded me of the good old adventure games (plot, dialogues, development). The graphics are a bit different than your classic "pixel-art". Not bad at all, just not my cup of tea. It's a matter of preferrence. A really good job! And this is from a guy who isn't into Japanese culture etc (I'm saying so because the plot takes place in future Japan). All in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an interesting and engaging point and click adventure with a terrific story. The puzzles are mostly logical and I didn't have any real problems. Highly recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All in all I really enjoyed this game. The graphics and atmosphere are great. The only thing I would have loved is more depth to the story itself. It left a few questions unanswered.

unlabelledView post →Well produced adventure game. Puzzles are well laid out with a good selection of achievements. Plot easy enough to follow but sometimes hard to understand main character motivations.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed this adventure a lot. The atmosphere of this cyberpunk-world is well supported by the pixel-art graphics and the sound design. The story is interesting, and offers meaningful decisions. All in all a good gaming experience. I've played this game in German language. The translation was not always on point, unfortunately. Nontheless, a very recommendable point & click adventure!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is difficult to review, but in the end I'm gonna recommend it, at least when it's on sale. The pixel art is solid, as are atmospheric sounds or all the technical aspects. And the riddles are mostly rather easy, the story is promising and keeps you interested pretty quickly, but thats where the issues start for me. First: The game is rather short. I'd say the acutall play time might be 3-4 hours. Also it leaves quite a few open strings. What happened to some of npc? Why hasnt there been…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an interesting game, but suffers from too big interface and gameplay issues to be an enjoyable experience. Sometimes Anna says out loud the dialog choices to an NPC, sometimes she simply doesn't. This made it hard to follow the text and felt really amateurish. In addition to that, the subtitle speed cannot be adjusted and it has an auto advance feature unfortunately. I got so tired of these kind of issues in 20 minutes that I quit the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool EGA-style graphics with an interesting cyberpunk setting. Unfortunately, the gameplay is a bit weak in my opinion. I found there to be a lot of pixel-hunting, and some illogical sequences. The point where I quit was when I had exhausted all possible combinations and actions, yet still could not proceed. I checked a walkthrough: my run seems like it's bugged or something. Alas, so close to being good!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't go expecting an AAA experience, obviously. But it's a perfectly nice big-pixels, I-try-to-combine-the-chandelier-with-the-rope point-and-click. Pleasant visual style, good atmosphere, short, affordable. Well worth it if you like the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Currently playing obscure, smol point-and-click video game The Sundew. Noticed it didn't even have 70 Steam reviews, which raises the question "wait, why do I even know it exists?". After some quick research, it was an @abeewords.bsky.social mini-review in RPS. Am I a refined connoisseur, or what ?
unlabelledView post →I think it's great! A fun cyberpunk point and click adventure game. If you are into that it will be a good time
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →recommend for anyone who's an avid point & click adventure player, especially if you're into cyberpunk settings
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't really have much to say about this game, but I wanted to leave a positive review anyway, so... here it is. Short and sweet, recommended for fans of classic point and click games and cyberpunk. Loved the artsyle and atmosphere :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pleasant enough point-and-click cyberpunk adventure. You play a hard-bitten cop who has been treated poorly by society, set against a shadowy megacorp whose influence reaches into government. Your choices affect the ending of the game. This game feels like a solid first attempt at a point-and-click adventure: the elements are all there, and with some more experience I think this game would be very engaging. Spoilers past this point Strengths: fun puzzles, good worldbuilding, I cared…
