negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"There was a problem authenticating the ownership of this product." Thanks Ubisoft. Adding your launcher has only made everything better
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Game but forces you to use Ubisoft Connect which is absolutely useless. Beyond that the game also doesn't run.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just too many bugs on top of an other Launcher application, which always brings joy to my heart, having some garbage spyware installed on my system. Display resolution isn't detected properly, Game Settings are not saved, Keyboard shortcuts can't be change... 5 minutes into the Game, naaa, QTD...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so iv'e played this game back in the day and sadly because of ubisoft i am unable to play it despite already having an account and putting the right details in. it asks me to rest my password but then does not sand me the email to do this and after trying multiple way's to contact them, they don't seem to reply resulting in an unplayable game so if don't know your login's or are unable to login DON'T GET ANY UBISOFT GAME!!!! because you wont be able to play it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ubisoft is the worst game company.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do not suggest you to purchase the game at all. I purchased it on sale, downloaded, but to start playing i had to also create Ubisoft account, download Uplay (which right now is called Ubisoft connect) and only then run the game. I could do all thise to play the game, but i will not. That is why i use steam, to play games directly here. Also who knows if there would be problems after downloading and installing ubisoft connect. Also let me remind you of awful Ubisoft policy that states that…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The most addictive Amiga game? That would be „The Settlers“ for me. This is still such a brilliant game! #retrogaming #commodore #amiga500 #thesettlers

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1st I need an external tool to play? I use Steam to avoid that. 2nd: The registration in the tool OR on the website does not even work for whatever reason and the game does not start without an account - I just want to play single player, an account is absolutely not necessary from ANY technical point of view. Ubisoft, you do not earn any points with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ system.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cant even open the game because I didnt receive a CD Key with it and ubisoft locked me out of it. It is impossible to open this game on ubisoft Connect because of this problem, been in contact with ubisoft and got no response. I highly recommend you to not buy this game, as an old tittle I doubt ubisoft will fix this issue any time in this decade or ever.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is just the original game i owned before but i need uplay to play it and can play online, no updates or nothin'
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Uplay requirement.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PLEASE BE WARNED this game requires a ubi soft account to play, this on its own is not too much of an issue, I lost my emails and they DO NOT accept steam as proof of purchase, I have lost all my games as I lost my old email address, DO NOT BUY.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →maybe an age thing I used to love the settlers, it was a nice slow paced city builder with combat elements, Maybe I am just old but the nice pace and everything is just comforting. You end up spending so many hours playing it without really noticing. Controls are easy, with a few exceptions, missions are not difficult and the lack of micro managing is refreshing to return to.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Grand Warning!!! Dear players be aware that this game takes much more disk space that initially required. For me it took 70+GB additional allocated memory on my hard drive. I finally got program that verifies how many space takes a program on pc. And it verified that this game took 70+Gb of actual space +allocated space. After game deletion my disk free memory added 70+GB... Same thing goes for other Games like Ceasar4(up to 20GB) or Sea Dogs To each his own(up to 50GB instead of basic 12GB).…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played The Settlers: Rise of an Empire for over 2000 hours on Steam and countless many hours with the DVD version purchased many years back. It is so much fun and I discovered how to change things in the LUA and config files to make it even easier or more difficult. Would like to find more maps and wish the Map Editor that is included worked better so I could make my own. I highly recommend this game even thought it is considered old. Graphics are quite good for an older program.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well Uplay and Linux dont work together. So this game is sadly not playable for the following OS as UPlay is needed and wont work: - all Linux Distros (except with ery elaborate LUTRIS application and then not stable/playable) - Steam OS - iOS (if you arent willing to bleed time into a not working uplay like a Linux user) - GeForce Now and - Shadow PC (even if its Windows that was a suprise) So if you dont use a Microsoft OS dont buy it. If yu have a Microsoft OS dont buy it either as Uplay…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know, if I'm allowed to write this, but choose the GOG version instead - properly fixed graphical bugs on that version. It's an incredible, comfy, engaging game for any low-complexity strategy enthusiast out there. So get it regardless.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nostalgia is a hell of drug.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok but a bit outdated. Running on Linux and had some troubles, had to install Uplay manually : Type from CLI (check your paths !) : WINEPREFIX="/run/media/jeanmarc/data/steam/steamapps/compatdata/965310/pfx" wine "/run/media/jeanmarc/data/steam/steamapps/common/The\ Settlers\ -\ Rise\ of\ an\ Empire\ -\ History\ Edition/Data/Support/UplayInstaller.exe" >> You may need to rename the Settlers directory without spaces, then rename it once uplay is installed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is not working no uplay it says
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Settlers: Rise of an Empire – History Edition is a polished revival of Ubisoft Blue Byte’s 2007 medieval city-builder, a title that leans into the series’ gentler, more atmospheric qualities rather than complex strategic depth. Updated for modern operating systems and hardware, this edition preserves the charm of the original while smoothing out compatibility issues, allowing a new generation of players to experience its slow-paced, village-focused approach to strategy. At its core, the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best games from my childhood.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried because my original game has terrible sound problems now. This version was much better on that front. BUT I cannot pan right without using the arrow keys, and Ubi launcher is now involved. Nothing else is different. Darn. Refunded.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my favorite city builder of all time and it's massively underrated. I got it at a discount store when I was like twelve and have played it so many times that I know the whole game front to back. I've been looking for something like it ever since, and even the other games in the series can't match up. This game sits perfectly in the goldilocks zone of comfortable playability - the mechanics are simple enough to make it a relaxing game, but not oversimplified to the point of boredom. It's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is truly a classic and I have gotten incredibly frustrated trying to find another game that scratches the same itch. It seems other similar city building RTS games released in more recent years, including those in the Settlers series, are just low quality knockoffs. I always end up coming back to Rise of an Empire, still almost 20 years later.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not gonna lie, I played this as a kid so I have a lot of nostalgia for it. Is it the best real time strategy game out there? Far from it. But it's fun, at least to me. Note that this game is very easy. It poses no challenge whatsoever, except for like 2 out of 16 missions in the campaign.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is full of bugs I do not recommend !!!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing the game on and off for a year and even beaten the campaign twice for a good measure as a Queen and King if for seeing the minor difference, I can for sure say this game is decent if you're not sure on what to get and want to play one of the least complicated city building games. While the game is not deep as city builders goes as you can lay down a lumberjack building here near bunch of trees there and a Hunter's Hut over there near a herd of wild animals there. But the joy…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rise of an Empire is the sixth installment of The Settlers and tries to return the series to its city-building roots while also being distinct from the earlier games. The game concept is similar to most city-building games: While you expand your territory to access more resources, you upgrade your city to unlock new buildings, but you also have to satisfy additional needs of your citizens. At the same time, the economy sytem is kept more simple than for example in the Anno series. There are 10…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this game over 15 years ago, still looks amazing and plays beautifully. I am playing on Linux (KDE Neon) and just needed to run the Ubisoft Installer with Wine (as suggested on Proton DB.) Plays flawlessly otherwise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Settlers: Rise of an Empire is a game I always find myself reinstalling and coming back to, no matter how much time passes. There’s something incredibly satisfying about its slower, more relaxed approach to city building, where watching your settlement grow and your citizens go about their daily routines never gets old. The gameplay loop is smooth, rewarding, and easy to settle into, making it perfect for both short sessions and long playthroughs. What really makes it special is its…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember playing this for hours when I was younger on my dad's pc. Now i can play it again and its still pretty good
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An absolute classic! The main game is one of the best strategy games I have played. While the mechanics aren't very deep like other games, the scope and variety really makes this game stand on its own. The main campaign is fun and gives at least 20 hours of game play on its own. The expansion brings new fun features into the game but the campaign sucks honestly. The style of the game fits amazingly, its not too over the top like the newer games. It's just realistic enough to make it look really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →• This is the game for when I just want to relax and build a beautiful city. It's a very rewarding and fun experience. • I have absolutely zero complaints about this game, although I can imagine that some people might find the combat system lacking. I personally don't play this game for its combat.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best settlers game in my opinion. The detail, the architecture, the settlers interactions, the resource system and progression, combat, everything about this entry is better than the newer ones, imo. Corporate greed continues to do what it does best, killing valuable and innovative creations. They had a winning recipe with Rise of an Empire, sad to see how far the studio has fallen since this masterpiece.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it needs account so no
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like to play it sometimes to kill a time when I'm bored, but the game is so simplyfied. You never struggle with money and resources, game can be difficult only for someone who plays it for first time. I grew up playing games like Pharaoh, Zeus, Settlers 2, 3, 4 and Age of Empires series. This game seems so casual next to those titles. It's not like it has to be difficult, but gameplay could be bit more complex. But in contrast mission 13 is ridiculously difficult out of nowhere. It's so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved Settlers Heritage of Kings so I gave this one a try. The mechanics are klunky and there were numerous times when my production got cratered with no possibility of recovery. Game balance is poor. It is tough to get started at first and then it is trivial to snap up the last few knight ranks and production buildings. Many times I had production working great and was focusing on expansion. Then I find that half of the citizens are protesting because the storehouse is full and most…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played the original many years ago (last time in 2014 according to Steam) and liked it a lot. Purchased the history edition out of nostalgia so I could play it again (Win 10). Controls feel a bit outdated and can’t scroll to the right with my mouse for some reason. Have to use the arrows. Otherwise, recommended to any fan of The Settlers franchise. Arguably the best game in the series (I play single player only).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been playing this for years. It's still fun! The graphics aren't the most spectacular since it's a vintage game, but the game play is worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →multiplayer does not work most of the time. that was this games best feature, but it requires ubisoft connect which does not connect for multiplayer most of the time. And Ubisoft support is useless
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SettlersGM rebuilds the 1993 Amiga classic The Settlers for Windows, keeping its road networks, production chains and logistics-driven strategy intact. A fascinating PC rework for retro strategy fans. #TheSettlers #Amiga #RetroGaming

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cant play as steam didnt provide an activation key and have taken my money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've loved this game since it first came out. I remember being amazed at the graphics then, though of course they're a bit dated now, but no less charming. It's easily my favourite game in the Settlers franchise, and the only one I play again and again. In fact, it's my favourite game of all time and easily the one I've played the most hours on and for the longest time, period; first on disc, and then on multiple other platforms later on. This is the game that got me into gaming. Heck, when I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While the gameplay is good, I am disappointed that I was unable to play the expansion pack "Eastern Realm" despite the game description blatantly says: Includes the main game and the expansion The Eastern Realm. After going through the Community Posts for solutions, the given solution did not work out. It said to go to your library -> right click on the game -> select PLAY option. when you click it, you will see the pop up where you can choose between the main game & eastern expansion. None of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ F*** UBISOFT
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun little game to kill time really and looks gorgeous for when it came out. The only main complaint is how easy it is to breeze through and not much content but worth grabbing on a sale!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game and nostalgia trip. The only downside/complaint from me is that to play it you have to install ubisoft connect and create or log in to Ubisoft in order to launch the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. loved it as a child and now years later older.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game doesn't work properly on more contemporary systems. My system isn't great, but it more than suffices to exceed the requirements listed for such an old game and yet the reality is that this "port" is a cheap mockery which is not functional or "ported" over to be properly functional on modern systems at all. It's outlandish to charge a price for a malfunctional product which isn't even a faithful port and which doesn't run properly. Additionally, it REQUIRES an Ubisoft Uplay account to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game. Not as "cute" as the very first Settlers game but plays better than most city builder games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To be fully honest, thought this would be an improvement to the previous games. The game isn't horrible but it lacks so many features that the previous title had and the gameplay is just quite boring. Going back to Heritage of Kings instead as it's still a lot more enjoyable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. It requires thought and planning, with a lot of playing time. Even when the original game is finished, you can import more missions written by others. Great fun and highly recommended.
