Simon Butler recalls it being only a month or two from completion when suddenly cancelled. Could a prototype still survive? (Amiga shot via Lemon Amiga) www.gamesthatwerent.com/2026/09/the-...
unlabelledView post →A favorite DOS game of mine was The Settlers 2, which was IMO the BEST town building game at the time by a longshot, and honestly, still holds up today. The Settlers was pretty unique in its mechanics. It focuses around resource chains and supplying resources to citizens to power buildings.
unlabelledView post →Amiga players who loved The Settlers were disappointed when the sequel only came to PC. Now, nearly 30 years later, Settlers 2 is getting an Amiga release, and it's officially licensed by Ubisoft. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/the-set...

unlabelledView post →Back in my happy place. For some reason I've had a strong urge to play The Settlers recently. I think visiting The Cave probably had something to do with it. #Amiga #Retrogaming

unlabelledView post →I have insisted we play the Settlers of Catan dice game until I win and I have continued to dramatically lose. Why? I seem clever? Why must I lose? Anyway no one's going to sleep tonight.
unlabelledView post →The Settlers 2 was my favorite town building game for a long time. Sorry SimCity fans, but The Settlers was WAY better. It actually made sense, and when your towns weren't growing the way you expected them to, you could figure out what the problem was and fix it! I never could do that in SimCity.
unlabelledView post →The Settlers - time lapse Blue Byte 1994 This game aged like good wine. 😋 If gaming time is sparse and you weren't aware - this can be done in Dosbox by pressing and holding Alt-F12 (Turbo Mode). #msdos #retrogaming
unlabelledView post →Also, my goodness we need to figure out better ways of talking about the Settlers of Catan. That game is so much stranger and more alive than "look ma, folks like being the colonizers." Mechanically, its entirely about interdependence and how geography shapes our relationship even as we shape it.
unlabelledView post →27. The Settlers The original and still the best, although The Settlers II comes very close. I've poured hours into this game. Probably my first *proper* RTS, although I think we were still calling stuff like this "God games" in the early 90s.

unlabelledView post →This game, The Settlers III, had big role in shaping my taste in games as a kid and why I remain deeply into city builders. I don't think I'm still all that good at them though lol
unlabelledView post →My game is a love letter to The Settlers, my first love in gaming from when I was 4 years old. I met the creator Volker Wertich in 2018 at Gamescom and showed my game to him. I want him to have a key for the game. I cannot find any contact information, however! Help?
unlabelledView post →One of these days, I want to make a game that is like somewhere between Satisfactory, Dragon Quest Builders, and The Settlers.
unlabelledView post →lol "Zuckerberg’s subordinates are letting him win at the board game the Settlers of Catan."

I will regularly post news about my progress and the development of the game here! 😊 #TheFirstExplorers #CityBuilder #RTS #UnrealEngine

unlabelledView post →Catan is probably easy. They changed their name from The Settlers of Catan to just Catan, and one random... Interesting fellow I met at a ttrpg and board game space seemed grumpy about that. Fortunately, I think the grifters are just entirely unaware/don't think there's much money in it.
unlabelledView post →One reason I'm incredibly fond of "The Settlers of Catan" is that it's even fun when you're losing. Once someone pulls ahead in Monopoly, it feels like the board game equivalent of Stalingrad.
unlabelledView post →SettlersGM rebuilds the 1993 Amiga classic The Settlers for Windows, keeping its road networks, production chains and logistics-driven strategy intact. A fascinating PC rework for retro strategy fans. #TheSettlers #Amiga #RetroGaming
unlabelledView post →73. Warcraft: Orcs & Humans Another game I snagged as a Sold Out release - one of my first, I think. We got our first PC sometime in 1997, and this game took what I'd learned from games like The Settlers and Cannon Fodder to the next level. I was in love.

unlabelledView post →304. The Settlers III My first Settlers game since the first one. It's funny, little things like not being able to build roads makes it feel less like The Settlers, and yet it also feels incredibly Settlers-y when you're playing it.
unlabelledView post →The Settlers on the Amiga was the game that convinced me that procedural generation was awesome. Here we had a functioning and often really cool looking world created with no care about me or my opponents - we just had to work with what we got. Nobody had created it, it wasn't a pretend world.
unlabelledView post →Steam reviews are interesting. The Settlers: New Alliance have mixed reviews but when I read them it sounds like they've changed the game to cater for a more casual audience and that's what a lot of people dislike. However it is probably more my cup of tea. 😅 #Steam #gaming

unlabelledView post →"The Settlers of Catan" is a fairly simple, short and engaging board game, perfect for four players and suitable for both young people and adults. It’s one of the many games I keep playing with my family. Depending on the players’ interests, I could suggest some other good games.
unlabelledView post →The Settlers was a pivotal game for me in my career choice, so it’s great to see this spiritual successor coming on so well…. And an absolute pleasure to write for it. Support through Patreon and hear my music in the Pre-Alpha!
unlabelledView post →I always loved looking at the pig farm (the piglets rolling in the mud) and the mill (the miller sleeping, bubble and all) and the little fights. It's important when a game is as slow paced as The Settlers.
unlabelledView post →A game like this is best enjoyed if you're familiar with the board game, which I highly recommend. We still have the old version, which translated as "Settlers of Catan". They removed the Settlers-part, because dark history gets in the way when playing a game, apparently... 😅
unlabelledView post →Last week I rediscovered I own the Settlers 7, not a great game nor a bad game, but good lord I did not expect to get so wrapped up in it. I think my mind really just wanted to play a city builder that badly.
unlabelledView post →Dungeon synth is just remixes and mashups of the music from the game The Settlers.
unlabelledView post →I loved the original Settlers (Settlers II was similar.) The later games got more RTS-ish, and I’m not a big fan. The original developer did a spiritual remake - Pioneers of Pagonia. The combat side of Pioneers is perhaps less interesting, but the early game captures the Settlers charm.
unlabelledView post →Yes of course I would agree. I'd also debate that as a sandbox, the game is what you make it. It definitely was the platform for many new gamers to try something like Stardew. Minecraft is like the Settlers of Catan of video games. Perfect launchpad to more diverse options.
unlabelledView post →Settler movement Wanna have snacks with that? It sounds lovely cozy, right? 'Oh hello, were the Settlers and just moved in. Here, have some cake.' Fckn idiots! It’s not a game, damn it! It is the illegal occupation of someone’s territory. Just like Russia did with Ukrainian territory.
unlabelledView post →Update: It's The Settlers when I poke around a bit. It is an Ubisoft game made in the Germany branch, but the dev team is Blue Byte Studios (or Software I keep on finding both) before I think they where bought out? English verison for exist of 1 and 2.

unlabelledView post →Things I keep musing about: a video game about establishing settlements on a habitable exoplanet. It's a mixture of the Settlers style, SimCity and Civilization - you got to explicitly build up supply chains to supply your people and industries. You shape the landscape with roads and trains.

unlabelledView post →Most people would do what the game buyers do. Just buy The Settlers of Catan ;) For an average Joe there's little difference between Opus 4.5 and 4.6. And if (or once) 4.6 (or whatever) proves to be a winner, there's little risk in switching. Most folks are in the (early or late) majority.
