This is probably my favourite strategic game ever, the nostalgia from childhood still seems to be exactly the same even now after so many years. It's still very pleasent to smash the enemy with an enormous army. The game worth every penny.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ubisoft with it's disgusting practices for adding their garbage forced launcher into older games, and selling them again NEEDS to stop. this is just disgusting greed and garbage behaviour, if i was the owner of steam i'd kick ubisoft out and never let them back on the platform. not unless they'd do a massive shift in their anti consumer practises.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would like to play the game I purchased ....Your software is stopping me as usual I think you call it security....I call it garbage I am sick of software enhancements that prevent me from playing my own games and I will be warning others and deleting my games........I think its called theft when you take peoples money then prevent them access to their own games because you own security
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ubisoft always online sucks ass
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the soundtrack is a banger And there is a Community for Multiplayer and custom maps with coop that to this day still makes good scenarios.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DON'T BUY THIS GAME I bought it directly through the steam store. When I launch it, it opens up Ubisoft's launcher (always a good sign...). When I log in, it asks me for a CD Key. I know some steam games (like warhammer dawn of war 2 and each expansion) has a cd key section where steam tells you your CD key. Steam never provided me a CD key, I don't have it in my email from the purchase, or anywhere in the game properties. As a result, I literally cannot play the game that I paid for. What a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The most addictive Amiga game? That would be „The Settlers“ for me. This is still such a brilliant game! #retrogaming #commodore #amiga500 #thesettlers

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Needs Ubisofts launcher and account
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You have to register the game against a Ubisoft account, I attempted to and it tells me I can't play it because it is the wrong email address and account. Same email address as Steam, yet I literally cannot play my game. The support is rubbish, they admitted they cannot do anything and that I must have used another email address. I have NOT played 50 hours of it, I can't even get to the main menu.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, grew up playing it. It has a sweet spot in my memory. It is a negative review coz of ubisofts dumb as rocks launcher, Did not need it back then, why need it now? I just wanna play a childhood classic not download and run your actual cancerous launcher.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →F Ubisoft BUT this game is a classic
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you don't have/want an external Ubisoft account or if your Ubisoft account was hacked ant taken over (and Ubisoft Refuses to give your account back to you) don't bother buying this game. It requires a Ubisoft account log into before you can play the game!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself is good and I enjoy playing it a lot. It also reminds me of my childhood when I played it. However, there are no bug fixes as you would expect except that it runs "natively" on win10+ and you can use WQHD/uHD. If you have a newer GPU the game doesn't recognise it and you will be bound to use the min settings (graphic settings are grayed out). The settleres comunity has created a new dll file which you can use instead of the original file When using this you can use your dGPU…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't bother with this steaming pile of Ubisoft always online garbage. Worst customer support ever!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My childhood game. Favorite strategy still. Buy with no regrets.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this game for nearly 20 years, and I still really enjoy it. There is so much to like about it. One thing I adore is that you play the game with your mouse. Due to arthritis in both my hands I cannot use hand controllers. Note to Steam, please say on each game on your website whether it can be operated/controlled with a mouse, as it never does. I could buy many other games if I only knew. The challenges in the game are of varying difficulty on different maps. There are plenty of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Used to love the game but for some reason I need an Ubisoft Connect account and guess what? It doesn't connect. Ironic. So I can't play a game I already own on disc, bought again on steam, just because a third party thinks I shouldn't connect this digital copy to my Ubisoft account. Without any direction on how to solve the problem. Real shame With love and by all means: Don't risk it. Buy something else...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →build more farms your farms are full but there are still some homeless settlers EUREEKA you lack iron.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For new players: Its not too difficult to get your head round how the game works, but something worth spending an evening on. Despite being made in 2004 the graphics are good for the time. Very immersive gameplay and keeps you on your toes. Campaign is very addictive, particularly with the base game and the 1st extension pack. Single player free play is alright, not too challenging on some maps but others its harder, i recommend "Quiet Corner" for beginners. There is also an Online Multiplayer…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PLEASE BE WARNED this game requires a ubi soft account to play, this on its own is not too much of an issue, I lost my emails and they DO NOT accept steam as proof of purchase, I have lost all my games as I lost my old email address, DO NOT BUY.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game I've played for more than 10 years
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UBISLOP LAUNCHER. Need I say more? It barely worked before and now - now, doesn't work at all. Os the "History Edition" in the tittle for how ubislop is historicaly rtarded
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game won't start, which is a shame I loved this game as a kid
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best settlers game, the rest doesn't even come close (Note: I have much more playtime off of Steam)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An amazing childhood game that brought back a lot of nostalgia.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my personal favorite games. The gameplay loop of getting your settlement up and running, building a massive army, and then besieging some enemy foe is extremely addicting and takes a long time to become tedious. Here are some thoughts I had while playing: Pros - Fun core gameplay (Lots to do in each mission, and you almost never feel like you have to sit around waiting, there is always something to be done) - Pretty well balanced (I would say most of the game is set up well, where you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ubisoft Connect is really annoying. I had a few crashes. Be sure to save your game regularly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I could give a neutral review. I didn't play this decades ago so there's no nostalgia for me. It's from a bygone era when RTS games took some risks and tried to offer players something unique to set themselves apart. In my opinion, it doesn't hold up as well as AOE2 or some of the Stronghold games but it's not a bad game. The story is decent as is the balance, I like the fantasy setting, and none of the mechanics clash terribly with each other. I definitely could see myself having been…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Settlers: Heritage of Kings – History Edition is a fascinating return to one of the most debated entries in Ubisoft Blue Byte’s long-running strategy series. This re-release updates the 2005 title for modern systems, bundling the original game with its expansions while adding widescreen support, compatibility improvements, and stability tweaks. What emerges is a version of Heritage of Kings that is easier to play today than the original ever was, but still unmistakably shaped by the design…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Uplay (spyware) crashes constantly on Windows 10 and Windows 11. I would suggest avoiding Ubisoft games all together.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Now the version of my game is changed and forced to use ubisoft and all my saved games missing!!!! I wish I could meet one of these clever guys. They would be eating soup for a year!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this a child, returned now as a man child. Still good
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, just not settlers Not sure what to say really, this is a good game in it's own right, a slow paced RTS ish game, definitely not a settlers style game. So you can get it, but it just is not what the title suggests.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The original settlers is better, this one has too many cut scenes that you can't skip so slows the flow of the game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great nostalgic game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SettlersGM rebuilds the 1993 Amiga classic The Settlers for Windows, keeping its road networks, production chains and logistics-driven strategy intact. A fascinating PC rework for retro strategy fans. #TheSettlers #Amiga #RetroGaming
unlabelledView post →Used to play this as a kid. Very nostalgic to play it again. Hearing the voicelines and sounds and seeing the 3D models and textures is an amazing blast from the past. "How am I supposed to concentrate when you are tickling me?"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1 of my favorite childhood games, still a enjoyable experience to this day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have sank hundreds of hours into the Settlers 5 both on steam and before that on disc over the years. I've played far too much of it, notwithstanding that, the game is objectively poor. This review will take into consideration both the base game and the expansions. I enjoy the game, but it's not good. Let's begin with the positives: The graphical fidelity, particularly for its age, is good. The terrain is interesting and vibrant. The environments and animal models within them are pretty.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is one of the best games i've ever played when I was a kid. I recently purchased it again to replay it and it's still just as amazing!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cant find the 2 expansions
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Totally addictive, great battles, good game play
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than the rest of the settlers games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a childhood game of mine. Love the Building, Military and resource management, as well as the interesting campaign and plentiful different Free Play options, much recommended
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got it in a sale for 6€ and thought I could try it out as I liked the settlers (2,3,4) when I was younger. In short the short the game does not know what it really wants and it lacks polish. There is still some base building. I like the idea of adding houses and farms to resource buildings, because it makes nicer cities. While this sounds nice in theory, it gets repetitive very fast. If you see a resource spot, you want it and build the necessary buildings. There is no real decision making.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very addictive and easy controling. Suitable for begginers in strategy build and battle games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the best edition for me, amazing :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a nostalgic game that takes me back to my younger years. It is really a classic and can be challenging on some locations, and easier in other
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Childhood classic and great game. Can't recommend in current state as locked as lowest settings in like 600 x 940 resolution or something. On 4K monitor looks like ass and just unplayable due to weird mouse acceleration with resolution.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →bought the game the first time on ubisoft connect and it didnt work at all kept crashing and so on then bought it on steam and well i dont have any crashes anymore i guess steam installs everything while ubisoft client doesnt lol but besides that i loved this game as a kid and still love it now very very fun 10/10 music also great gameplay
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nostalgia trip for sure!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very atypical for a settlers game but don't be discouraged by that. it's still an amazing game with more focus on RTS and less on city building. might not have the strategic depth of something like SC2, but it still holds up as a great game to this day. I can only recommend this to anyone who likes old games especially at this low price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely addicting! I love playing it over and trying different methods to win, or stay alive as long as possible to harvest as much as possible. Wish they came out with more missions.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyable classic strategy game with an immersive atmosphere, memorable heroes with interesting unique abilities, and a lot of retro charm. The base campaign is a lot of fun and the Legends expansion, while less polished, has some creative mission designs that add variety to the experience. The one major flaw is that there's no way to pause the game without modifying the code (which I do not have the skills to do), which makes it tough to take breaks, so be sure to go to the bathroom and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RE: https://mastodon.gamedev.place/@yora/116418667368883637 I can only recommend Settlers 2. In my opinion it is the best part of the series. So, if you don't own a copy yet, now is your chance. #TheSettlers #Gaming #RetroGaming #Emulation #DosBox #StrategyGames
