negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible experience with Ubisoft Connect that forces You to provide pass EACH TIME YOU RUN THE GAME. Stay away from this crap.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I grew up playing settlers 1 and then 3. (yeah I'm that old) After a long break from the franchise I was looking forward to jumping back in. Oh dear was I disappointed. Setting aside the logistic issues, AI problems, and lack of random maps (read the other reviews for those) the most disappointing thing for me was the lack of freedom. Take for example Settlers 3. You could expand you territory by large amounts, build outposts, castles or explorers who would literary move your border posts, inch…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thumb down because Ubisoft is removing online services in old games. That is an unknown precedent and it is very dangerous and harmfull for us, consumers. ♥♥♥♥ Ubisoft, vote down all their games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an incredibly fun and addictive game, now rendered unplayable (at least to me) by Ubisoft's stupid Connect portal. I have purchased this game three times. I bought the Mac version back in 2012 and played it for three years until Ubisoft terminated Mac support, nullifying my purchase. Then I bought the retail version of this game, thinking there was no way Ubisoft could screw with a game that was purchased on CD. How wrong I was. I was able to play this on my Mac via…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As long as Ubisoft continues to remove player access to purchased games, I cannot recommend any game published by this company
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Waiting for Settlers 2 Remastered edition with Multi.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game but require 3rd party nonsense to be installed that rapes your data in the form of Ubisoft Connect
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first played the game when I was 10 years old and it was fantastic, now 2 weeks ago I found the rework of my once favorite game on steam and since then nostalgia has overtaken me. The game is just amazing, back then as it is today.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →heres another game ubisoft killed with broken updates and forced log ins. ubisoft, do everyone a favor and go out of business already, so another company can buy your IP's and start making non ♥♥♥♥ games again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Requires Ubisoft connect, which is absolute garbage and won't run on my PC that plays all games on Ultra.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the ubisoft connect is worse thing i ever seen . makes you enter your password everytime you start the game worse experience i ever had .
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UBI launcher still needs to run to start the game. The previous installment which I bought on Steam is not playable anymore because of the launcher. Now I had to buy the game again instead of getting an update for the already bought product. What a shame. EDIT: It got worse. You need to start the launcher twice and hopefullly the game starts. Don't BUY!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is just utter garbage. Before I tried this game I played The Settlers 6 which was really fun, had good rts, city building and rpg elements. For this game they just removed all of that, took out the fun and exploration and just give you a linear map and tell you to conquer point a to b, b to c, c to d. It's just boring, not worth the money and some features aren't even available because there's no server connection. I don't know what went through their minds when making this game but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its an ok game but the worst thing is the security implementation that you cant play offline and you have to log in everytime to play the game. Would be manageable if it allowed you to save password and you just clicked login but it does not and even being logged into Ubisoft does not matter. Such an annoying security implementation nobody is looking to crack a game that costs 12 quid Ubisoft!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Avoid Ubisoft.. they give you the run around when you try to update your email address. I have tried now a few times. i have finally contacted their customer support and they say that even if i don't get the confirmation address that it's my fault and they cannot confirm my identity.. Customer service is crap and avoid all their products.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing Ubisoft games on Steam can be a frustrating experience for some users due to the fact that they are required to use the Ubisoft Store launcher to launch and play the games. While it's convenient to have all your games in one place on Steam, having to use a separate launcher can make the process of playing Ubisoft games less seamless and more cumbersome. One of the main issues with using the Ubisoft Store launcher is that it can be slow and clunky, especially when compared to Steam's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game cannot find a Uplay and won't start. Refunded. My mistake I should notice it's a Ubisoft before purchase.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have a few thousand hours of playing The Settlers 1 and 2. The others not so much until this one. After 13 hours I think I am giving up on this. While the first two iterations were fun - seven is not. I'm sure it's my own incompetence but I can't get anything to work. After expanding once or twice nothing gets done. Building a new building takes half an hour despite hardly anything else going on. Production buildings won't produce despite a massive surplus of goods. And then I win with some…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could be a great game but Ubisoft broke it with their launcher ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. EVERY SINGLE TIME I launch it, it asks me for my password. This is harassment!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →That stupid uplay launcher gets in a way and breaks gaming experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After replaying the original Settlers, I thought I'd check out how the franchise has been getting on since... Negatives: - Requires ubisoft login on every load... and it doesn't remember your password - Campaign has long cinematic and dialogue sections that interupt gameplay (and aren't that interesting) - Map is divided up into regions to be conquered, which already have roads, buildings, and mines... which may the game feel more like 'conquerors' than 'settlers'. Positives: - Most of what…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a fan of the Settlers games, you probably shouldn't get this one. I got Settlers 7 despite all the negative reviews I've seen for it because I wanted to try it for myself, and thought it surely couldn't be *that* bad..... It is. Space economy is a joke in this game. If you place a building, 9 times out of 10 it doesn't do anything on it's own. Instead you have to add extensions ("workyards") to them in order to give them functionality, and they take up a massive amount of space. It is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't quite recommend it yet. Could be a great game if it weren't for a few problems. 1 Need more keyboard controls and ability to change the keybindings. 2 Last save should always be at the top of the list and all saves in chronological order. 3 As soon as you place a building you should be able to select food type. 4 Setting to skip all intro movies 5 Better tutorials and guides 6 Get rid of some of the start game tedium by allowing to first buildings to be built instantly while the game is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →9/10 I liked it better than all other Settlers, but....when you can get it to work and connected properly..... Would recommend if we didn't have to deal with Ubisoft at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ubisoft Connect
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay itself is not too bad but functionality is just horrible. When I try to run the game on my laptop it eventually crashes when there are more than 3 opponents. So I decided to play it on Geforce now but Ubisoft Connect doesn't sync and everytime I try to run it on GFN it says I don't own the game. I connected Ubisoft with Steam and the game appears on both of my libraries, I also connected both accounts to my GFN account but nothing works. I want a refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →need to log in every time pathetic
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Firstly in terms of the online account issue and any graphical issue. I suffered minimally from this and it was mostly an annoyance (i kept having to put my password in to play the game). The game itself is good and i brought the history version for the Dlcs. Its not a bad game but much more economically focused in comparison to the previous games where winning by combat was still very much a requirement. It has many fun bit like the economy management and gaining new territories but the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buggy and intrusive DRM ruin a potentially good game, do not buy. I requested refund
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: - nice graphics even in 2026 - controls are mostly intuitive - cute cartoon characters - simplified city builder Cons: - storyline could have been better - simplified city builder That's my quick analysis from playing the original (Settlers 1) and years of playing RTS games. As much as I prefer RTS style games, I personally feel Blue Byte made the wrong decision with combat in this game. The city building element of the Settlers games is what made them great. Over the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love this game have done since i was a child, im now 35
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Settlers 2 & 3 were still the best. The concept of settlers 7 is really bad compaired to the old versions.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →requires ubisoft account. cannot log in due to captcha. please disclose in the future if ubisoft is needed so I can stay away. thank you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Fun. If you're looking for a strategy that's light and easy after a hard day. This one is great! doesn't take itself too seriously but gives multiple ways to win and is a good economics based, city builder/strategy game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically ok, but the bugs, the aged look and the horrible launcher make this game a little too annoying to enjoy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far so good. Just completed the tutorial, but it seems almost as fun as old Settlers. Ofc Ubisoft Launcher is cancer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you have to tipe the email and password 3 times in order to play the game because some disabled person in ubisoft has to make secured from pirating an 15yo game. mental ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in ubisoft
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, the game itself is fun, and you can make peace with the slightly outdated graphics (which I recommend tuning with your graphics card software to make them look a bit sharper). However, the technical state of the game is really frustrating. First, you need the Ubisoft launcher, which never remembers my password. The game occasionally freezes and doesn’t respond even to Task Manager, forcing you to restart your computer. The same thing happens when you try to exit, the game freezes and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sad demise It was a sad time when this was released. Everything that made settlers amazing, destroyed. Such a shame to see it die like this, maybe someone will pick it up in the future and make it a great game again. Unlikely but we can live in hope.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nothing like the old settlers games. Sad game, no multiplayer saves either.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ubisoft gateway....do not purchase. how many logins do I need? One for each game? NO...DO NOT PURCHASE.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a load of bull, constantly getting pathing errors and resources not being used. Makes the missions very frustrating as you're waiting for your guys to just do SOMETHING whilst you're enemies just steamroll the map. BS
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I supposedly played this game for 19 hours, but it does not even start. It wants a password that I last needed to run Watchdogs maybe five years ago. There is an option to request a recovery link by email, but it does not seem to do anything. I can still start Watchdogs so I know the email address I used to register works.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is neat and everything but I have to do everything in one sitting since I can't load any saves. And when the game crashes.. well, guess It's time for a restart - my favourite!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the "old times" everything was better... It's true for Settlers as well. It's a lovely and fun game, but I think the S1-S3 were better. For me the magic of Settlers is/was the people under your control. They were a bit closer to you, interacting in a way and their daily business was much more "visible". Now it seems a little bit more an empire building/RTS strategy then "Settlers". Some of the mechanics in this version are a bit clumsy and unnecessary. Though I like the way the military…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Soo frustrating. Where to start... The builders stand around even with resources around.. Productions queue do not link correctly, the point system is flawed. The AI start research while you are still working on planks and stone. Terribly unbalanced and aggravating to play when when you have the necessary materials but your people wont move.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried giving it a go after many years, and it's as bad/meh as I remember. I think it might be fine for somebody looking for a chill city builder, not so much for somebody wanting to optimize stuff/challenge themselves. I know it has some interesting mechanics further (diplomacy/economics) in the game, but if the basics are so annoying, I don't see how I'd get there. It's a mix of Settlers and Anno, and at this point, I think if you want to scratch that itch, it's either a better idea to play…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very fine game but the stupid ubisoft launcher is so annoying, keeps asking for password and still the online content (additional adornments) does not work half/most of the time. Gonna still recommend the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Campaign resets after second mission, cannot progress with the story
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A little old but probably the most enjoyable original Settlers-like experience if you cannot deal with the 2000's graphics of the first few installments of the series.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How in the world does this game have a "mixed" review rating? I'm 25 hours in and have enjoyed every second. The graphics are excellent and I have not encountered one bug. The UI is top notch and things were explained well at the beginning.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've not played any Settlers games before and had no expectations. Really liked the introduction, artwork, seems like such a cute game. The first campaign missions were right up my alley, I like city building and resource management. I don't like the fighting aspect and it's not a huge aspect of this game (although is required much more than I'd prefer). This game reminded me somewhat of Anno series with building the supply chains and upgrades. But while Anno allows you to take time, make…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Keeps crashing to desktop in skirmish despite having a massively over qualified gaming rig. Saves seem to be corrupted, repeatedly losing hours of progress. I've tried multiple fixes from the forums/steam discussions to no avail. Simply unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cant play on Steam> login Ubi> Play on Ubi> It opens Steam> Cant play either sides!? WTF? Refund
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Settlers 7: History Edition, developed by Ubisoft Blue Byte and published by Ubisoft, revives one of the most polished and ambitious entries in the long-running Settlers franchise. Rather than reinventing the formula, this version modernizes the 2010 release by making it compatible with contemporary systems, bundling all DLC, and retaining the charming fusion of economic simulation, territorial expansion, and light real-time strategy that defined the original. While it is a remaster rather…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has huge technical issues: 1. It simply crashes on first and subsequent launches. 2. It is impossible to set the 4K resolution despite such an option in the menu. The game automatically returns to a lower resolution or crashes. 3. The cursor in the game clicks in a different place than it actually shows. I gave up after 30 minutes of trying to launch it. I strongly advise against buying it. I do not understand how it could be allowed to be sold on Steam.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Login to online tracking service for a single player game required. Kind of my fault, I forgot Ubisoft is french for "sign a legal contract to absolve your right to privacy to play a game".
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even if the old settlers games might have been better, this is still enjoyable.
