TL;DR version: If you're wanting Stellaris but with a campaign and story mode, then I do not recommend this game for you at all. If you're wanting a Virtual Novel with light 4x elements as gameplay between segments of the story then this isn't that bad! I approached this game knowing full well that it wasn't going to be heavy on the 4x elements as some other games. From watching gameplay and seeing cutscenes and moments with your war-council and other species, how the conversations were…

Good god the pacing is just horrible it's just one scripted war into another war. All your doing is sitting there doing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nothing waiting for your ships to repair a damaged fleet will ALWAYS take 6 turns to repair. Which isn't that bad unless your starting a unavoidable war ever 3 turns. Not to mention you have to build fleets but the AI just gets them, something not unheard of. The issue is the fleets the AI gets are roughly 3 times the strength of your strongest. Also remember the…

Honestly, a pretty great narrative 4X-lite. If you're looking for something like Stellaris, GalCiv, or something similar, this isn't it. But if you found those too complex, or just want a break from the sandbox while still getting the itch for some grand strategy, The Pegasus Expedition is a great option in my opinion. The game's main focus is on the narrative campaign, which you can finish in about 20 hours without aiming for total galactic domination. The second half of the campaign can be…

I like both good sci-fi and 4X games, but mixing the two only works to a point. 4X is about replayability, while a fixed story gets old fast since you’re always playing through the same plot. The genre works better with emergent storytelling than with a scripted narrative. As a 4X, it has some ambitious ideas, but it’s missing a lot of QoL features (like proper overviews of outposts and colonies), which makes it messy and frustrating to play. With enough development, it could still turn…

Okay, so this is an interesting one. Even though I will be listing many cons below, I still like the concept of the game and enjoyed it enough to recommend it. It really reminds me of a simplified Stellaris with a storyline, which is an interesting concept. The gameplay is fine and the story is good enough. I didn't encounter any bugs, except one time the game froze on one of the faction's turns, but reloading a previous save fixed that. Pros: + I really liked the concept of a 4X game with a…

So really, this feels like a mid-to-late early access game. Several of the features are half implemented and there's seemingly leftover stuff from development still in the game. The UI is a bit clunky, a lot of things have no explanation so you're guessing about how a lot works. Saving, doing/building, seeing what happens, and then loading has been my dear friend. Speaking of saving and loading, many tooltips are wrong, some values in game aren't updated as the game goes through turns which…

I just finished the main campaign, And i'm Realy agreably surprised. Here is a very decent not too simple 4X, with some fresh idea, and who succeed very well the narativ part, even if the story is not very complex (but quite original, as you're an invader that have reason to act the way they act, but absolutly no real casus belly against your enemy : You're a coloniser. Face it.) I'm a 4X veteran , trying most tittle that are too badly receptionned to test them, and i didn't go try this one…

The Pegasus Expedition is a competent strategy game with several interesting ideas and a narrative direction that few others in the genre attempt. Its strongest element is how it encourages players to commit heavily to early resource investments before settling into a more traditional strategic rhythm. Space battles move at a brisk pace thanks to limited direct control, ensuring that difficult decisions arise almost every turn. Unfortunately, these inventive concepts never fully come together.…

I'm done with this game. After 25 hours of playing it, I just can't see myself recommending it despite the brilliant things it has going for it. Let me be clear; the story is interesting and I really do wish the rest of the game allowed me to finish it. The first 10 hours of the game are brilliant; they set up the story and the mechanics, and I really wish the rest of the game followed suit in supporting it. The story is this: you're an invader not by choice but by necessity because the rest of…

I played a long list of strategy games, which provided me with a fairly well knowledge and experience in this genre and subgenres, in particular, historical games. I'm not a fan of science fiction, therefore sci-fi games barely catch my interest, however, The Pegasus Expedition is among the few exceptions. I am quite impressed by Pegasus due to its multilayer design that consists of a dynamic economy, grand and tactical strategic tactics, and a complex combat system. From a global map…

Stellaris-like, with simpler mechanics (not a bad thing) and a hand crafted story about politics, desperation, betrayal, ethical dilemmas, and ultimately hope. I was drawn in by the first opening cut scene setting the story and I didnt stop until the closing credits. Pros: -4X players will be able to pick up the mechanics pretty easily. By my third restart I felt like I had the gist of it, and started my run to the end credits. -The difficulty feels about right. Making tactical mistakes…

Game has terrible mechanics and no balancing to make it artificially hard the happiness system makes no sense and the aliens ignore any restrictions on diplomacy making the treaties only restrict the player's actions while the AI can do whatever it wants regardless of treaties signed until they fix this I cannot recommend this game.

I was enjoying my first playthrough, aside from some glitched quest bugs, when stuff happened that made no sense. I was surrounded by allies, so I was on a temporary break from attacking anyone. Factions had declared war on me, but with allied buffers I negotiated passage treaties and I was still trying to get my fleets into position. During this time, my galactic reputation went from 100% positive to 100% negative, and my happiness went from over 90% to 15% and planets rebelling. I couldn't…

Excessively overwritten. You get pointless, forced "philosophical" speeches spammed at you every time you click something. Got sick of it and uninstalled in under an hour. Worth noting, I played Citizen Sleeper (A gamer that's 90% writing and dialogue) for 7 hours and got an ending that made me sad. Citizen Sleeper had me considering what it meant to be human, to be alive rather than exist or merely survive. I first I was put of by the bland dialog and the mediocre 4X, but then, the mix 4X-narration start working – it’s usually a very strong mix-, the autobattler, while lacking depth is pretty and the optimism of the game in the European construction is touching (the French admiral, the minister from Sarajevo and the other one from the Ruhr, a pity the player title is not commissioner like any good EU bureaucrat). pros: interesting/varied campaigns & choices, nice presentation & simple, fast execution of large fleet-based combat. cons: the UI. considering how streamlined everything else is in favor of removing micromanaging and making you feel like you're in an epic story, you would expect a more robust, feedback-based UI like in Endless Space. This game does have a Howard Zinn quote in one of the loading screens, and so I would like to give it a positive review, however I can't quite overlook the game's extremely clunky UI, more or less random balancing, and just general lack of polish and compelling gameplay. This really feels like a game where they got the various elements kind of, technically, working, and then just immediately shipped it out the door without doing any additional testing for ease of use, balance, fun, pacing, etc.

Limit of three fleets per system, they aren't in a master list, there's a way to travel faster between systems but it doesn't work because you have systems which have been blown up or disappear, You can't even switch fleets between each other systems without moving one at a time and you only can move two spaces at once. Feels like a traffic jam instead of space

Ehhhh, it has a lot of pieces that want to work together but don't quite. R&D, ship combat, settling, etc. are all just a touch too shallow and the politics can get weird. I just lost a few important systems to an ally without any indicator of why or how, and now I can't get them back for example. It's not bad, but there is better stuff out there. Really hard to put my finger on why but it just doesn't land.

I gave a thumbs up because I like the premise of the game. However there are some things that are frustrating. The attrition rate of your ships is appalling. You take major damage even when you vastly outnumber the enemy. This causes you to repair your ships, but they are defenseless when you do so there must always be another fleet with you. You can only have 3 fleets at a time orbiting any planet and the AI seems to have limitless fleets. The cost of everything is out of whack. It costs the…

The game is good, there's not much spectacle in the actual combat but the entire combat system is enjoyable for the most part. The only problem I have with it is that it can basically boil down to: Is your fleet stronger? Then just do the peaceful combat style and spend a little resource to buff your fleet so that in the end you can increase your galactic standing. If your fleet is weaker, just use all means necessary and you should still be able to win, and repeat, keeping your galactic…

Generally an okay game. Basically a lightweight version of Stellaris. However there are a few nitpicks I have. Combat is pretty confusing and I'm not completely sure how much impact different fleet types or tactics have. The UI is missing quality of life features that would help in managing a large empire. I really like this game, unfortunately one of the main issues with it is the slow scope creep to tediousness and punishment for success; the more successful you are, the more tedious the game gets, and the more you get punished. At a grand strategy level, nothing is available to manage the empire for you; no bureaucracy, just lists of what you have. You’d have to get four notebooks: fleets, systems, planets, and plans, and then keep track in them of who is where, what they are doing, what…

What I don't like - after some might argue just a couple of hours - is that it looks one has no other option to solve issues other than just going to war and achieving goals (save our home system) by exterminating the inhabitants of the new galaxy. "Narrative strategy game" is an idea that keeps coming around and sounding cool but not really clicking for me. It feels like the only reasonable way to play is: * play the game until something you do unexpectedly triggers what the game designers thought should be the next narrative beat * reload, and avoid triggering that action while figuring out the game / building up your strength / preparing for their "surprise" * eventually trigger it, and play forward until the next bit of "story" hits.…

8/10 overall game. This was a fun play. I'm happy to play more. The story was a 9/10. It was functional, and the voice acted parts added weight to the story. The text options were really well put together, and thank goodness, it wasn't walls and walls and walls of text. It was short enough to break up game play, add some substance to the galaxy, and give you a short breather before going back to whatever it was you were doing before. Gameplay is probably a 6/10. There's a few quality…

Main character in this game is a very ugly female, her face looks obviously male. Stop this uglification of female characters in games! I can't concentrate on the story nor the game, when I see this obvious modern political bait. What is wrong with you, Kalia Gameworks? You would rather sacrifice the work of many people just to make a political statement? Whoever put this in the game - GTFO from the gamedev industry, because I won't believe it is just lack of skill on the artist side.

I gave this game a shot, but I feel like I've seen everything i needed to see in the first few hours; I kept playing for the sake of it but I honestly didn't enjoy this one. The game isn't fun to play in the way that Endless Space 2 or Stellaris are, and both of these offer more depth in war, diplomacy and development while both differing significantly from each other. Pegasus feels to me like its trying to be both of these games and only scratching the surface of each while having the most…

Performance issues and bugs. But its not a bad game if you go beyond that. Its more of a narrative story then a standard 4x game. I mean there is 4x but you really only have one option since that is the plot. If they fix the bugs and performance issues I'd say yes. But losing progress because the game didn't save or becauser the janky ui for some reason keeps automatically picking at all costs which tank you reputation is really annoying and forces you to handle everything with an eagle…

Really wanted to like this game. Plot seemed new and exciting and the reviews on yt were fairly positive. But its just riddled with bugs. Only played for 6hrs so far and it has crashed to blackscreen 3 times, regularly fails to allow you to click the fight button on battles at the end of turn forcing you to reload a save just to play the turn. Sometimes if your fleets don't have a move left it locks up and refuses to let you fight or run away and you have to reload a save. Just makes me sad…
