The puzzles are very interesting and fun to solve, but you do have to get over the awful movement system. Sometimes you forget to pick an item here or to talk to someone there and cue to 2 or 3 minutes of walking around to get there, constantly cursing at the awful interface to do so. But the stress is worth it for the story. Worth the money if…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is reasonably constructed point and click adventure with some good points but it has some serious flaws that make the price of £14 way too expensive. If you find it on a half price sale it is worth considering. The premise of this game is that you are a man in New York who, soon after moving into a new apartment, observes a police squad forcefully arresting and abducting his neighbour while his terrified wife amd son look on. In your attempt to support the man's family you discover all…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Moment of Silence is a game that has some solid ideas but is held back by sloppy game design. The plot is a decent but run-on-the-mill conspiracy story loosely inspired by Orwille. Whatever plot twists it has are textbook. There is nothing special or groundbreaking about it except the world-building, used as commentary on the fear of surveillance of private communication. This aspect is actually kind of culturally relevant and even somewhat thought-provoking due to the information age we…

Big differance with "The Moment Of Silence" is it's more like a movie/game than most pure 3rd person point and click adventures.. Very iIntersting futuristic setting (sort of) and easier gameplay in that you can't make a disasterous mistake. Still took me over 21 hours to play.. That was off and on however! What I really loved about this stroyline is that no matter how long you left it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game years ago and the story had always stuck with me. When it went on sale, I made sure to buy a copy. The story is positively riveting and predicted the NSA scandal and surveillance drones 10 years before their occurrence. This alone makes the other predictions of the game to be even more interesting/ominous. I know a game's story is powerfully interesting when my husband takes off his headphones from playing Overwatch to listen to what I'm playing ;) I really appreciate…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh dear. An interesting, dystopian story made incredibly frustrating by its gameplay. If your story involves *a lot* of going backwards and forwards between locations, talking to people multiple times and interacting with objects in a specific order, please don't make it a walking simulator as well. Then don't add a camera view that reorients the character constantly while only being able to move to locations or interact with objects if you get into just the right spot so that the camera will…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game had an excellent story, and generally good puzzles, but a few bad mechanics made it very tedious to play. Camera angles were poorly planned, often flipping around in the middle of a scene. This turns forward into backwrd, and left into right. This made the game very disorienting and confusing to play, *especially* during maze sections. Often, only part of a room would be shown, and you would have to find the correct place to move your character so you could access a new camera…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A well written sci-fi adventure. It is by no means perfect, with occasional bugs and awkward movement controls that will occasionally have you wanting to throw your mouse through a window, but worth checking out. Through the game you get a rich sense of the world, told to you through hints and mentions in conversation rather than the heavy-handed exposition we see in most similar games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pros ✅ a very strong, complex, engaging, well developed dystopian story set in an interesting futuristic digital world. the game's conspiracy story has many Orwellian influences. ✅ there are plenty of different and interesting locations ✅ pressing and holding H button reveals hotspots and exits ✅ enjoyable puzzles. they are not too easy or overly complicated. there are also inventory puzzles you can combine some items ✅ likeable, empathic and relatable lead character ✅ main and all of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can barely recommend the game, it took me all my willpower to see it through to the end. If you exclude the quite gripping story, this game is nothing but a horrible horrible chore that is not worth your time. And even with the story, the game will only be bearable to the truest veterans of point n' clicks. The worst part of The Moment Of Silence is the absolutely excruciating and retarded navigation system - moving to adjacent scenes is almost impossible due to there being no hotspots to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Moment of Silence is a point and click adventure game released in 2005. While the premise of the game is very good, the publisher/developer hasn't kept it up to date. The resolution is fixed at a 4:3 aspect ratio and can't be changed. I could only recommend this to people who played the game in 2005 and want to play it again, and because they probably already own the game, this is an extremely niche audience. For everyone else, it's too old, and the aspect ratio and fixed resolution…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is un-f-word-ing-beleivably bad. I had played two other games by House of Tales, Overclocked and 15 Days, and they were really good, so I thought I'd try this one, and what a mistake that was... The game was mostly mechanically bad. It's very difficult to figure out where to make the character walk to transition screens, some of them have click locations, but others you have to walk to a certain part of the screen to get the transition to happen, and to make it all the worse the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story line of this game is amazing. I've had this game a long time ago on CD, glad to see it again on Steam!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Summary A dated point and click with a very interesting story and commentary to many different ideas. Pros + Interesting story + Thought provoking commentary Cons - Janky movement - Terrible camera angles - Super slow movement Overview The Moment of Silence is a dated point and click game with an interesting story conveying a strong commentary on authoritarian government control, social engineering, propaganda, AI, and other political and social problems. Somehow all this came out in 2005…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great for us millenials wanting something simple and comforting when going through some covid brainfog. Lovely grainy cinematics prefacing still and quiet backgrounds with an unnecessary amount of camera angles to make clicking complicated. Most of the game is waiting for the character to travel from location to location, or crawling through the needless tiers of dialogue to make you forget the direct progress instructions that each character gave you. Makes it all feel inanely lifelike.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first I thought 'The Moment of Silence' was a decent game if somewhat dry and generic with awkward controls that left me not knowing where to click on the screen to move from one location to another. By the time I was two thirds of the way through the game I just wished that it was over, and really that I hadn't even started playing the game in the first place... even as I managed to crawl to the end of the story. Whatever interesting ideas there are in this game are buried under way too…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game will not start on Windows 10, and the developers have not responded to requests to fix. Many others have had the same issue, as seen in the Discussions forum. If they ever get around to fixing it, I'll revisit this review. But for now the name is 100% BROKEN.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So here's all you need to know about this game. You start out the game on the 23 story of an apartment building. As you trying to find the next thing you're supposed to be doing you have to go back and forth several times between your apartment and the street below. Each time you have to wait for the elevator to go up and down all 23 floors. EVERY TIME! WTF!!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is absolutely no way to play without a walkthrough -- the actions and "what to do next" or "who to speak to next" are no prompted nor intuitive - so many actions just to go to the next location which just seem like filler to lengthen the game no ... I would not recommend
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played this game until around 75% of the story. Something kept me playing; then, I gave up. Graphics: OK, acceptable for such a point-and-click game. You can run the game without a high demand device config. Storyline: Average. If you have played enough AI related games, the storyline is not a big surprise or that of unique. Gameplay: 2 out of 5. Biggest issue 1/2: The camera angles and interaction mechanisms are not intuitive. It is quite annoying to get the right angle to find the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It does have its charm but I can't in good conscience recommend it. -The voice acting is pretty good and the story is pretty engaging but the good points stop there. -The resolution is low and a weird letterbox aspect and its locked to 40fps, there are no graphical settings whatsoever. -The low resolution makes it difficult to see items and the built in hot-spot tool doesn't work properly; it doesn't reveal all interactions or sometimes shows an interaction but in the wrong place.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →House of Tales games are basically enhanced movies. They exist for the story alone. They aren't going to give you lots of puzzles or even lots of inventory items. It's all about the story. Overclocked was one of the better stories in any adventure game. It had me dying to know what happened next. I'm hopeful this one will do the same. The guy voicing our hero sounds like the same guy from the Overclocked game. Captain Doom. Everything is wrong all the time. One thing that bugs me is the kid…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Classical award winning point&click adventure which is set in Sci-fi world of the future. Very much recommended for all P&C enthusiasts.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Flaws Galore So many and so awful flaws - and on top of that: in a game of 2005! Clumsiness all around: A slow moving character, a slow elevator, no direction to change the screen, no fast travel ... You lose al lot of time just for trying to move. Hotspots are not highlighted, - wait, EDIT: They can be highlighted by holding (!) the "H" key ... - and even intense pixel hunting can be unsuccessful, so be prepared to use a walkthrough - as if that game really needs another nail in the coffin.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →solid story, good length
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has a really great story and for that it's worth to play. ...but the gameplay is pretty terrible, it wastes the players time a lot for no good reason.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not without flaws, I'll admit, but there's an okay story here under the slight lack of polish. For this price, though? Yikes. Nope, wait for a sale my friend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok there's a few minor quibbles - camera angles & movement can be a bit irksome and the graphics are a little dated. But overall really good game if you like adventure games, would definitely recommend to pick up if it comes on sale, price a bit on the high side otherwise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ahhhh Moment of Silence, does it get anymore mediocre? Released back in 2004 you would swear it was made in 1994. It falls for a lot of the pit falls many 90's point and click adventure games did back in those days(I still loved many) and the graphics are about on par for the era. You will find yourself wondering have I explored this whole area or do I need to attempt to walk off screen in some weird fashion(yes it's one of those)? You will also find yourself at the mercy of multiple illogical…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i went into this game expecting either an interesting sci-fi story based off of all the reviews touting it as this game's greatest strength, or something completely unhinged to the point of comedy, like the studio's first game (The Mystery of the Druids). what i got in the end was neither of those things, and while the game has its moments it was quite disappointing. Technical aspects. the game worked fine most of the time, it only crashed on me once, but there are a few bugs. the most…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game 107 - The Moment of Silence: Interminably yappy, and while technically improved on Druids somehow they manage to completely fuck up the one thing they had right in that navigation is a complete disaster. The story is...fine? I'm scared to go back to Overclocked now which I liked at release.
unlabelledView post →Fascinating involving tech-noir thriller adventure. Very text-driven can make for slow play but the story is so good that the mechanics don't detract from it. My favourite adventure game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WELL I got the game working so today at 8PM GMT we'll be starting one of my fav games! "The Moment Of Silence" from 2004! #Twitch #Vtuber #ENVtuber www.twitch.tv/veotv
unlabelledView post →No. Unbearable without a walkthrough. Still bad with a walkthrough. Gameplay's bad. Story not good enough to warrant such bad gameplay. Really bad navigation system for a point-and-click game (you can miss finding areas just because you haven't moved your characters to some parts of the screen), fake difficulty in puzzles (walking around takes so much time, just to check interactable objects that are parts of the puzzle. No fast travel feature whatsoever. The way they are placed also make no…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting Story, but mechanics are awful.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd have rather watched a gameplay instead of trying to find where the game devs thought it was logical to go. For a person who got used to games with bigger interactivity, it was frustrating all the way. Can't put myself to finish it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is it me, or is there a bit of stuttering here, say @33s ? There is a lot going on here, maybe bit too much at times. Could be a nice soundtrack to adventure game showing a future city. Thinking of scenes from The Moment of Silence.
unlabelledView post →I imagine OSEG will feel obligated to do the Moment of Silence thing at the next home game for the passing of Bernie Glieberman but I think that might be a spectacularly bad idea. He, and more especially his son, is not a very popular person around here.
unlabelledView post →A bit old and difficult to control in places but good
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game runs into all the standard problems that plague the point-and-click genre with the added insult of making you wait WAY too long for certain animations. That being said, the game had a decent story and some, SOME, stellar voice acting, in particular I loved Linda and the guitarist. Definitely deserves some of the "Mixed" reviews, but worth the play. Don't buy this at full price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was quite surprised and emotional to see this old classic on Steam. I have played it many years ago. So of ocurse this was a must get for me. The storyline is fun, graphics are decent, considered the age of the game. I am happy with it, Oh, and it also works out of the box with Steam Play! This will cause me probably spending several hours in game during the next days.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad game story over all is quite well done. I do not like the back and forth in any game without a fast travel but this is a older game. Buy on sell even better. Give it a 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kind of like Deus Ex in a video game - conspiracies, AI and politics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game because I was curious what the developers of the absolutely absurd Mystery of the Druids went on to make later, and if they improved on the many, many flaws it had. Unfortunately, this game is as bad if not worse in most ways. I have so many thoughts about this game that I'm not sure how to order them, so I'll list things off as I think of them. Please keep in mind that I played this game on Ubuntu using Proton; I'm not sure if some of the technical aspects I'll go on to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/YL0MNQ6vjnw Numerous years of age has taken an otherwise moderate grade adventure game and pushed further into the pass pile for modern players.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a nice game with a riveting story, sure, but just remember: Somewhere out there exists a game designer who thought to themselves, "Hey, lets put the guy's apartment on the 23rd floor and allow players the pleasure of waiting for the elevator! Jolly good fun idea, that!"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game except for direction movement. It is ridiculous, you keep going in wrong direction. Also too much having to change location which is also way too slow.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dont waste your money. another broken game on steam
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was ahead of its time in terms of predictions for future technology, censorship and free speech. Shame not many people would really play it because of graphics and how old it is.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a little clunky and rough around the edges but it has something that any decent point and click adventure game needs - a storyline that makes me HAVE to find out what happened and not stop until I do! You start out witnessing a man being taken away by the authorities. As you start to dig deeper, and then gain the trust of his wife left behind, that's where the story begins. The style here is pre-rendered, so no real hand painted backgrounds, but that's okay - and there are still…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The movement system is horrendous, making the game boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Score: 7/10 Great plotwist, varied scenes. A little tedious when changing scenes. It's old school.
