I’m going to start with the Lover era, because it lays the best foundation and context for this theory. If you’ve never seen the movie But I’m a Cheerleader, you should watch it! Taylor definitely has.

unlabelledView post →Most of you are probably too young but do you remember a film called The Lover that came out in the early 90s? Obviously being called The Lover there was lots of sex in it & the lead actress Jane March was labelled by the press as the 'sinner from Pinner' & I think of that when I see Jannik Sinner 🤣

I suppose if we go with the Christmas Villain side, Princess Snow Kaguya from the Sailor Moon S movie and side story manga called 'The Lover of Princess Kaguya' would count. In Obey me, they had Dark Demon Santa.

I recently read Marguerite Duras' The Lover and she mentions it many times throughout the novel--so I had to followup and see it, of course. She wrote a review on the film but I don't think it's been translated. yet.

It doesn't take long before they are having a fairly torrid affair, but things are difficult. He is older and a Chinese citizen, she a French girl in what was then French Indo-China. She is also a bit of a gold-digger and quite aware that if she plays her cards right, he can offer her a new, more prosperous, life than that she shares with her mother (Fréderique Meininger) and two brothers.…
