Instead, they filmed chemical reactions with macro photography, giving the film unique, surreal effects that still look amazing today. He wanted the film's FX to hold up like 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. What happened to that guy?

unlabelledView post →With certain filmmakers you can chart so clearly how they get there and if you know anything about how The Fountain was made (insufferable movie they had to redo everything on using some incredible budget practicals), it all lines up.
unlabelledView post →He made The Fountain, the most beautiful movie ever made, and he made Requiem, which is about fisheye lenses and me feeling bad.
unlabelledView post →staying ridiculously on brand here, but i think DEATH IS THE ROAD TO AWE from THE FOUNTAIN score absolutely turbocharges the emotional impact of the movie
unlabelledView post →lol my favorite movie is THE FOUNTAIN
unlabelledView post →Obscure YT of the day: Orson Welles wrote and directed a legendary television pilot THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH for Desilu in 58! he hosts & narrates & was very fond of this ("it's the only comedy I've ever made on film"). Essential! www.youtube.com/watch?v=maDT...

Inception, The Fountain, Gladiator are a few movies I can think of off the top of my head where the music is a huge part of the experience in my memory. Do you have any favorites?
unlabelledView post →CALVARY is in competition with THE FOUNTAIN for my favorite movie of all time, and the only reason the latter is ahead by a hair is the score
unlabelledView post →Oh good, one of the characters in the Fountain of Youth movie is a paintings curator at the National Gallery—sorry, unnamed museum on Trafalgar Square.

unlabelledView post →The Fountain. I get why most people don't like it, consider it overwrought, etc. But that movie pierced me in a way nothing has before or since. Seeing it alone in a theater on release on Thanksgiving night was honestly a spiritual experience the likes of which I'll likely never have again.

unlabelledView post →Oh it’s impossible. Aubrey Plaza is having an amazing time in it, easily the highlight of the film. Jon Voight has the same haircut as Angelina Jolie in Hackers, which I could not get over. Visually, feels like The Fountain got thrown into a blender with Madame Web, Moulin Rouge and Batman & Robin.

unlabelledView post →#filmsky Remember the charming 1954 film Three Coins In The Fountain, about love in Rome? The opening and closing scenes at Trevi Fountain put it on my short list of places to visit, and this and Rome’s other fountains are exquisite. And why didn’t the movie warn us about these yummy gelato shops?
unlabelledView post →I’ll always love THE FOUNTAIN. As a survivor of family having cancer, that movie profoundly moved (and still does) me. Coming to peace with loss, and not fearing change… that movie is a masterpiece. But Darren lost his way. The Darren that made that movie is gone, I suppose.
unlabelledView post →I personally like The Fountain better, but for me there's no more quintessential Jennifer Connelly film than this one.
unlabelledView post →I just can’t believe #RearWindow lost best color cinematography to “Three Coins In The Fountain,” or any film for that matter. Sheesh. #tcmparty

unlabelledView post →Darren Aronofsky fylder 56 i dag. Han har instrueret flere af mine favoritfilm i nyere tid: Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan og The Fountain. Samtidig har han produceret hele to film, jeg har lavet lyddesign til: The Territory og Viktor. Dem er jeg meget stolt af. Tak for alle filmene – og tillykke!

The Whale ^^^ THESE ARE NOT GOOD MOVIES ^^^ Noah is an atrocious movie but gets points for the genuinely impressive evolution montage.

unlabelledView post →Film 93, 2025. The Fountain (2006).
unlabelledView post →Mansell's score for The Fountain is the best movie score ever made, period. Death is the Road to Awe might be the single best instrumental track from any soundtrack.

unlabelledView post →Pathetic. When he couldn't make THE FOUNTAIN, he spent a year rewriting and redesigning the film and figuring out a way to make it for half the money. It's a beautiful film. It feels handmade. You can feel the human passion in it. That filmmaker is dead.
