51 of 51 · most liked firstA Card Game KING review Despite the amazing visual design and solid mechanics, regretfully I cannot recommend it due to many other issues plaguing this game. This includes unnecessary fights, repetitiveness, low player choice, time consuming battles and a few others which I will discuss below. Although I will say that the devs are fixing some of them with balance patches. I will say that I like the base mechanics. To explain them briefly, everything revolves around having a board with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RANKING: AVOID | FLAWED | MAYBE | WORTHWHILE | COMPELLING | UNMISSABLE SYNOPSIS: ASSESSMENT: The Foretold: Westmark Legacy (TF:WL) follows on from a promising prologue with this very playable, horror themed gamebook adventure. Seemingly shorter but highly replayable, it embodies style over content, comes with an interesting story and Lovecraftian setting that's an immersive experience. A steep learning curve must be overcome before being able to fully enjoy combat and not be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been waiting for this game since I played the demo. Deck building games are among my favorite genre and while this one isn't a typical deck building game, like slay the spire, I'm finding it much more enjoyable. Not many games these days stray from what seems to be the tried and true method, so when I find a game like this one, I take notice. Yes the gameplay can seem difficult at times, but I found there are enough checkpoints to even out the difficulty. Besides If the gameplay were…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game was extremely Fun during the BETA... Bowever it is sad to see that the Full game seems to have added such level of complications, that it makes the game tremendously difficult even for a Strategy Card, and Roguelite games fan, especially if you had considered the BETA has a behnchmark to what to real expect. Gameplay is similar to the BETA, but even Casual Difficult (Normal) is beyond hard. This would need to be extremely toned down. The RNG on hit and miss can cost you the run on a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's a fun, polished game but the checkpoint system and inconsistent auto-saves make it hard to recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whilst I do quite like the combat mechanics, there is a serious lack of content in the game. I played through the main campaign in a couple of hours, and although there is a certain amount of replay-ability it does get increasingly repetitive on successive playthroughs. I got this in a half price sale, and even at that price point I feel a little bit cheated with the main campaign being so short.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just WAY too short a game for the price. Interesting and fun while it lasts though. But starting again after unlocking a more difficult version of exactly the same story doesn't compensate for it's brevity.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game. I really do. But know this... It has issues. At one point in the timeline I ran into a little girl I had no idea who she was (as the player) but my character knew her and held a full conversation with her. At another point, I came to a location and investigated the outer areas of it. The lead character made some dialogue like he knew what was going on. Then when I felt I should investigate the last bit he made more dialogue that he shouldn't have based on what he experienced…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can tell the developers put a lot of love in this project! They did a great job with the art and atmosphere of the game. The voice acting and story were also really enjoyable. I running on my second play through on the next difficulty and am trying to find all the secrets and alternate paths to get all the endings. An important thing to note before buying, this game is difficult. A fair bit of victory does come from RNG and which weapons you choose. For example if you decide to…

unlabelledView post →Cool combat system but too little content and too many bugs. Unfinished, abandoned. A shame. Pros: + Interesting setting well served by appropriate dark fantasy graphics and animated cutscenes + The puzzle-like combat is original, engaging, but the fights are few and far apart during a run + The voice acting is very good Cons: - Bugged beyond belief for a full-release game (e.g. post-Craven black screen has been acknowledged, yet unpatched since 2024. Same with the irremovable pumpkin head…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Art style and setting very similar to darkest dungeon which was an attractive aspect. Voice acting for all the dialogue was impressive. Played for about 30 minutes and just thought the mechanics were boring of shifting and adding up card totals. Will probably wait for a deep sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love this game. It has a great setting, which oozes atmosphere, along with a Lovecraftian narrative that's very compelling. All of this creates a world that's engaging and rewarding to explore. The game play look confusing or come off as simple, but there's a depth to it that's fun to learn and mess around with. I also love the voice acting, that's really well done and adds a lot to bringing this wonderfully realised world to life. Highly recommended. Especially for fans of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I backed this game when it was attempting to fund a Kick starter campaign. It didn't get funded, but still followed this game being made. Is this game for everyone? No, but it's still fun. The art style is good, the VA is really good, and glad they included that. I've seen a lot of the reviews negative around the game play or screen size. I get it, the combat isn't thrilling, its critical thinking and making the best moves possible. I like they didn't give up and got this game out. Overall I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah no, I really don't want to play Hardcore Ironman mode on a normal difficulty especially with this high of an RNG-factor and ZERO ability to grind. There's checkpoints but the fight I got stuck on early was with a one-hour old checkpoint and 2 long fights to go. This game should have the option to carry over AT LEAST SOME of your stuff and levels when you fail and want to restart or it frankly should be a different game altogether. As it is now it's utterly baffling game-design that could…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game. Can replay the game several times to explore different outcomes and stories. Overall it's a fun game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game works well enough. I really enjoy the setting characters and how the story branches. Really needs to have some work done on the debugging. Appreciate that it checkpoints after every fight at the endpart to help save you from when it will blackscreen, but it really kills the enthusiasm to continue onward every time that it does. Plus some items being something you get AFTER you needed them is annoying when it happens.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been keeping an eye on this game since I saw the developers posting some early concept sketches forever ago. After the game failed on kickstarter I was worried that it wouldn't come out but here we are! The Foretold: Westmark Legacy is a short but engaging game with a good amount of replayability. There are some branching paths depending on which way you choose to go, what your stats are, as well as what items you have in your inventory. There are also unlockable difficulties that you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, it really makes indie devs shine because of how creative and interesting they can make a game. It's like a Darkest Dungeon spinoff game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJwiOVqommE Pros: creepy and mysterious atmosphere, GREAT immersion, great art style, the voice acting is great, grim dark game with a serious tone but doesn't take itself too serious, the narrative gameplay is really unique. Inventory system with good balance Cons: combat is turn based BUT it's basically a puzzle,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a unique concept ruined by obscure mechanics and an OBSCENE difficulty
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The voice acting and art in this game is phenomenal, especially the art when you defeat an enemy. The challenge is just right
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy playing the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love deck builders and this one has a new twist. It's nice to have solid voice acting and a story as well. I've got a lot to sort out on Getting Gud though. After playing further since my initial review. I would like to say that the game has some issues. I'm still glad that I bought it and I'm hoping they patch in some changes at some point. First, be warned that there are only certain 'Save points'. I hate having to weather through multiple battles in order to save. I'm trying to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was highly enjoyable! I already mentioned it following the demo, but the game's atmosphere is just fantastic and the voice actors really nail it! It also plays really, really well and makes me feel clever when I can use the curses to my advantage, rather than just being detrimental. Great job! It is worth say I finished one route in about 4 hours, but there are several paths unexplored for me to check out. Will definitely be playing some more runs to see more of it and learn more of this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Foretold: Westmark Legacy is a short yet replayable deckbuilder RPG with a pretty immersive horror atmosphere/setting. As a deckbuilder is quite unique and difficult to master (I play a lot of deckbuilders, and I remember having issues with this one at first), but it is a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. As an rpg it lacks in several aspects, in a way I think this would have been better as a roguelike, with different alternative endings. For example, you count with several side…

unlabelledView post →Have so far streamed a normal playthrough on my channel and dont think this game deserves all the negative reviews it has collected... Charming grimdark card battler/deck builder with an interesting story and combat mechanic against a variety of cosmic horror entities. Really like the concept and execution of the game but just wish there was more! Needs to be chunkier!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun deck builder where you manipulate numbers in columns with your cards. Is a tough balancing act against the clock. There will be times you simply cannot prevail. Start a new run and try again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Charming game! I really enjoyed it, the theme is spot on, it's fully voice acted which is great! Learning curve is a little steep, but I'm super pleased to see a genuinely fresh card game mechanic--don't worry you get better cards that give you better board control over time! Also appreciate that there's a proper story here instead of something vague and merely suggested. That said, replays are a little painful having to skip through the longer conversations. I'm leaving a review now…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished my first run. Loved the demo, feels short but I have a feeling there's more paths to be found. Hoped for a longer game, will see what is to come! So played more. In it's current state it feels early access. Hoping they'll continue to work on it. Some builds feel impossible to progress, others need a little random luck. There are some spelling mistakes, and hit a few points where the button to load checkpoint after dying does nothing and have to hit the X and reload. It gets tough…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. I just wish it was longer
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. Simple combat to learn but sufficiently deep to keep you interested. Good voice acting and sound effects. Love the maps and animations. Been enjoying it all weekend. Buy this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been waiting for The Foretold: Westmark Legacy for quite a while now and it met most of my expectations. They fixed bugs and tweaked the combat and i thought it felt great on my first run. There are 3 difficulties and you access them by beating the previous one. I thought the first run felt difficult but not too punishing. The art and voice acting are great, much better than expected from such a small team. My only complaint is that the game is a little on the short end, but all in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is relatively short, sweet and simple,. Despite its apparent simplicity, what it does it does exceedingly well. Its nicely drawn and animated and lures you in with the affliction of ' just one more round' before you realize its 3am Overall seems to be made with a love and care that more expensive titles often lack.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is fun for the first couple of minutes , but then just becomes absolutely punishingly miserable. Failed run does nothing to help, so you are STRICTLY at the mercy of the RNG gods. And when they aren't in your favor, OH BOY is it just miserable. Only buy this if it is on a DEEP discount (like 1 or 2 dollars). Neat ideas, absolutely awful execution.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is there any chance you may bring back the The Foretold: Exordium prequel on Steam, or at least add the content to the main game as a separate option? I sadly missed it. 😔 thank you
unlabelledView post →The voice acting alone is superb, check points take the biscuit massively though, but it has so much atmosphere that other games never even get close to nailing. I've played it through many times and I'm still discovering new events! The end game is broken and goes to a black screen every time without fail twice although I've found that you can just click on the next map node and the credits roll! It just needs an option to speed things up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy this game, it's fairly unique with it's core mechanic and the art style and story is great. I'm yet to finish it but I definitely will be playing more of this!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Foretold: Westmark Legacy Gorgeous art , immersive sounds&atmosphere , compelling dark story - replayable ( different paths , so when the reviewers tell the game is short they definitely haven't explored the other paths - just look at the full map in the guides section ) - the ony big con is the final fight death/replay bug ...they added a new map ...at half price , highly recommended !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes but its buggy, highly anoying. Also some pointeless repetitive scenarios at the start of each run
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finished the game, lose on the final battle (that is okay), want to retry, huge bug (like other players - see forum), can not move, can not start battle , have not inventory. Just stuck before the final battle. The check files said eveyrhhing waas okay - but no, so awful IT. For the price, it is a big no. Too bad, the battle is fun when you begin to understand it (no tuto whatsoever), the story and graphics are cool. But the loop is arf, example you need X item for X action, you will find it…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://new.reddit.com/r/Lovecraft/comments/1cnux1x/the_foretold_westmark_legacy_in_the_dark "The Foretold: Westmark Legacy is rusted around the edges—hides a unique Deck Builder and strategic combat. "I would hold off on purchasing The Foretold: Westmark Legacy until it's in better shape."
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The core gameplay mechanic is interesting and somewhat fun to play but I can't recommend the game with due to the game breaking bugs and are completely unacceptable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to give a good rating to this game because it was very fun to play and I enjoyed the flow of the game and the atmosphere. BUT there are some bugs and imbalances in the game, and it's sad to see that the developers have abandoned the game and haven't fixed it. I would recommend buying it for experiencing new interesting combat mechanics BUT do not expect to finish the game (there can be a black screen, a freeze, or imbalance in the cards). Also the game is very short. I wish the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game because it was on sale despite the mixed reviews, and because of Cryptivo's name and my love for The Universim. I'd rate 6/10 and I think others should take advantage of this sale to try it too! Just be very patient. Cons: So many spelling errors! I saw a sentence where the word was right in the beginning and wrong at the end. It looks very sloppy. Game glitches out on some cut scenes or areas and is not fixable unless you restart the entire run. I was almost at the end of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm going to recommend this one because I think that despite the bugs it has, it's a pretty interesting game. I liked the combat system with cards, numbers, and blocks. The use of items is quite cool. And the setting, with a touch of comedy, is very well-crafted. It's as if you're reading a "choose your own adventure" book written by Lovecraft. It looks like it won't be getting any more updates, which is a shame. It would have benefited from a little more polish and maybe some balance…
