My Playtime: 7.6h (100% achievement, finished the game) Grindy Achievement(s): No. Optional Achievement(s): Yes (3 achievements, 1 missable). Difficult Achievement(s): No. Intro Lila's Sky Ark is an action-adventure game that focuses on exploration. The game uses a unique mechanic where you can't attack at close range - instead, you'll have to pick up projectiles and throw them. Review by [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/34633003-Gaming-Masterpieces/lists/] Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam. Is this game a masterpiece? This is a prequel to Resolutiion, and quite a weird game (taking place in a very weird world.) Actually I still have no idea who I am, what I am doing and why. You play as a young girl called Lila, in a floating world inhabited by strange creatures. Some attack you, some say completely senseless things to you.…

For disclosure, I contributed a few pictures for the game, but I am not part of the dev team, it's just a little gift from them, just for being a fan - I mostly follow them because they are twin brothers, and some of the nicest devs I ever met. I also purchased my copy to support the project, which unfortunately is doing very poorly so far, and while I have a lot of small issues with the game, I still think it's very much worth playing, in many ways like their previous game 'Resolutiion',…

This is a beautiful game that tries to give you a sense of wonder and magic. It doesn't fail, I just found the main combat "pick up and throw things" mechanic to be as clunky and annoying as you would expect it to be. If this game had a better combat system I would probably have kept playing. If you find the game intriguing just try it out. You can always refund it if you don't like it.

LILA’S SKY ARK is a Groovy Trip – Review (Spoiler-Free) Video Review: https://youtu.be/biag1yhzTGw Steam Curator: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/42044015/ Lila’s Sky Ark is the psychedelic prequel to Monolith of Mind’s Resolutiion, a 2D top-down pixel art action game a la Hyper Light Drifter, that followed an amnesiac assassin through a dark and decidedly un-groovy dystopian future. How fascinating, then, that Lila’s Sky Ark is anything but, as it follows a young girl named Lila…

This had to grow on me. I was intrigued at first, then got a bit bored and didn't come back to the game for a couple of weeks. When I got around to finishing it, I still didn't love the combat, and was ready to get it over with, resolving that this was a beautifully made game that just wasn't my cup of tea, I "didn't get it". I thought the Conductor was going to be the end and I would uninstall and move on. Something about the Epilogue completely changed my mind. Going back and exploring…

I didn't give this much time, but reading the other reviews confirm that my major gripe with it isn't going to go away with further play: You pick up one-use items like pots and throw them at enemies. No sword, no gun, just that.. Constantly running around picking up items to throw at enemies is just tedium/clunky/un-fun/annoying to me.

This game is one of a kind. The music, the aesthetic, the story, gameplay comes together to make a cohesive and fun experience that I feel like everyone should play. If you're a fan of hyper light drifter, titan souls or any isometric snes legend of zelda type of gameplay do yourself a favor and buy this game.

I'm surprised this game isn't more popular. It's a fun little adventure game in a weird yet charming world with crazy characters, trippy colors, and good music. The story didn't make a lot of sense, but that didn't seem to detract from the overall experience. I understand the gripes that some have about this game, but I didn't find them to detract from the experience. The combat mechanic is odd, but once you adapt to it, it is interesting and fun. In the first few minutes, my immediate impression of the map is that I thought Lila’s Sky Ark would be a short, friendly Metroidvania game where we are collecting pots and lobbing them at any enemies that try to come near us. I never would have imagined this game would have this much depth than it meets the eye. When you purchase Lila’s Sky Ark, you're not only getting this game, but also the soundtracks, and you could say an artbook made into a guide as well, which unveils all the secrets…

I found some achievements to be quite difficult to obtain without any guides, and some of the bosses were relatively easy (at least for me, the top comment mentioned that bosses were difficult). Nonetheless, the game provided an exceptional, unique and distinctive experience, and I managed to complete it 100%. It was definitely worth the effort and time invested in it, and I would like to remark that it was an amazing experience. 9.4/10

I genuinely enjoyed this, it is a pretty neat and weird mini hybrid of sorts, you might like it- but due to its depressing story and very gloomy mood, I would say stay away. There are lots of fictional but obvious allusions (brief, indirect reference to a famous person, place, thing, event, or idea from history, literature, mythology, or popular culture) to existential quandaries (profound states of doubt, perplexity, or deep questioning regarding the nature, purpose, and meaning of human…

Sights & Sounds - Although the promotional art seems to be having a bit of an identity crisis (I've seen marketing material sporting 3 different styles), the in-game art is at least consistent. The majority of what you'll see is the game world's intriguing pixel art - Smaller sprites like Lila and most of the enemies lack detail owing to their diminutive stature, but larger characters and bosses are richly detailed and often wildly creative - The world itself looks like a more sparsely…

Yes, but not for everyone. I like throwing pots in Zelda top down games. If you don't, then best avoid this. It's a mellower top down action game, that still has some action, without the frenetic (albeit awesomeness) of Hades. Whenever I thought "I would love a fast travel," there was usually one right around the corner. But you can't just save wherever. It's like light collectathon of gathering throwable objects, evade enemies often, battle when needed, and follow light puzzle paths. Has a…

This game is a mixed bag, it has bad controls however everything else is pretty good for the most part. Lets start with the controls, playing this game with a controller never feels good. Picking up items, throwing items and putting them in and out of your bag requires conscious effort the entire time because the button layout just isn't intuitive. It doesn't help that one button can do 3 different things depending on your bag status at the moment. Almost makes you wonder if the developer…

it's pretty good! aesthetic is very pretty if a touch disjointed with story, combat is simple and the various tools are quite fun, general puzzles sometimes involve a lot of slowly walking with heavy objects, secret hunting is a little tedious without the Official Strategy Guide map, but the less confined puzzles at the end of the game were a ton of fun to work out (though i had trouble finding one specific decorated individual)

A really great hidden game. It offers some absolutely amazing Zelda-style exploration and some decently interesting puzzles. The combat is focused around throwing items you pickup, this works well when it works, less so when it doesn't. As the game progresses you naturally need more powerful items regularly, but you don't really find many. Sometimes enemies drop them, but if you don't have anything all you can pick up are the initial low-damage boxes. And sometimes there's more enemies than…

This is an okay game, and I would recommend it, although there are a few caveats. tl;dr: the aesthetics and the lore (backstory hints) are good, the combat mechanics are okay but can be a bit annoying to some, and the story (the plot from in-game events) is somewhat incohesive at the end. I haven't played Resolutiion, so I'm viewing this game as a standalone in writing this review. Something I absolutely enjoyed: the art and music for this game. Tracks like Spirit of the Mountain and Spirit of the Sky invoke a sense of adventure and wonder with their long, synth-heavy notes. While The Real Catslug God and The Drummer capture the feel of the boss fights with their hectic guitar riffs. There is not a wasted note in the whole album. When the…

From the developers of Turnip Boy titles, this game feels like those games except without much of interest. Some people find Turnip Boy games half-baked, and if you feel that, this would be an even worse experience. For me, I liked the Turnip Boy games as small silly adventure game inspired titles. This one has one decent boss fight and goes downhill from there, and doesn't feel as well designed as Turnip Boy games. The combat system is unique, but it's cumbersome to use in boss fights and…

Nice little adventuring game. The riddles are not too difficult, but you need to check out the environment and figures out yourself how to solve them. A lot of secrets are hidden or only told about by cryptic texts from NPCs. very good in general, but its not that uncommon for enemies to just get stuck out of nowhere (also, i accidentally cheated the cat-slug race by putting the big rock in front of its path, getting it stuck for the entirety of the second lap)

Interesting gameplay, curious world, quirky characters. Despite all of this, I wasn't really into it. I finished the game because I wanted to finish what I started. Fortunately, certain bosses were fun! So... give it a shot.
