Worth checking out if you like absurdist but grounded historical stuff. Armando Iannucci is one of those writers/directors that doesn't get enough credit for his work. Great film!
unlabelledView post →This is like the over the top kissing up to Stalin in the movie, The Death of Stalin! But that was a comedy - this is real life today at Lindsey Graham's funeral service where Hannity uses Graham's death to praise Trump!
unlabelledView post →#AprilMovieChallenge #Moviesky 4/7 - communist in a movie The Death of Stalin (2017) Director: Armando Iannucci I saw this for the first time last year and I have no idea what took me so long. Ridiculous with a stellar cast.
unlabelledView post →The Death of Stalin is on IPlayer. If you’ve not seen it, it’s absolutely worth a watch. It’s written and directed by Armando Iannucci, who also did The Thick of It, VEEP, Alan Partridge, The Day Today, etc etc. If you like satire you’ll love this film.
unlabelledView post →I cannot stress enough how important it is to watch The Death Of Stalin, a movie that really understands how much everyone in the orbit of power fuckin hates each other
unlabelledView post →The Death of Stalin is both a dudes suck and dudes rock movie.
unlabelledView post →A reminder to myself to bank an essay on THE DEATH OF STALIN. You have to be prepared in the movie criticism business.
unlabelledView post →Comfort film: "The Death of Stalin"
unlabelledView post →I have been using the movie "The Death of Stalin" as my mental model for what will happen when Trump dies or is removed from office, but it looks like it's happening now.
unlabelledView post →Thanks to whoever noted that The Death Of Stalin was on iPlayer. I'd not seen it before: a 10/10 film.
unlabelledView post →There's no better time than now to revisit @aiannucci.bsky.social’s masterful political satire The Death of Stalin, now streaming on Hulu. From @mattzollerseitz.bsky.social: www.rogerebert.com/mzs/30-minut...

unlabelledView post →You know how The Death of Stalin condenses a few months of events into a week or so for the sake of pacing? If you made a movie where this happened days after Bezos spent $75 million on a fancam of the First Lady people would assume that's what you were doing.
unlabelledView post →Watching the last samurai, which hardcore buys into japanese nationalist romanticisation of samurai and their bushido, and then Kubi, a movie by Takeshi Kitano that's pretty much the Death of Stalin but with Oda Nobunaga it's -chef's kiss-
unlabelledView post →Aurafarming like how Georgy Zhukov (from the film The Death of Stalin) does it. Artfight attack for @arasquawks.bsky.social
unlabelledView post →I’m not claiming that Jason Issacs’ first few moments as General Zhukov in ‘The Death Of Stalin’ stand in any objective way as the greatest scene in movie history. But as far as I’m concerned, they darn well do. Absolute, concentrated, unadulterated joy.

unlabelledView post →If Trump has a stroke or something we're gonna be living the movie "The Death of Stalin." bsky.app/profile/fint...
unlabelledView post →Historical film & TV is made for audiences now, & has to work with their expectations – even if it subverts them. A film like The Death of Stalin not only subverts accent conventions but turns them into character signifiers – making it perhaps less immersive, but even funnier.
unlabelledView post →Imagine the movie The Death of Stalin but 200% dumber
unlabelledView post →every now and then I watch The Death of Stalin both because it’s an incredible movie and as an act of sympathetic magic
unlabelledView post →Every time I see the Oval Office photo ops, with all the ass-kissers fully puckered up, I am reminded of the wonderful film, "The Death of Stalin". They're all just waiting for the senile fat fuck to croak, and are positioning themselves accordingly.
unlabelledView post →Unironically the movie The Death of Stalin lays out exactly how it will go, except there are no Khrushchevs or Zhukovs, just Beriyas
unlabelledView post →Many thanks to @mariephillips.bsky.social for posting about this very, very unusual interview with a very, very unusual actor. My only regret is that his film-stealing turn as Marshal Zhukov in The Death of Stalin is not discussed. Other than that - just magnificent.
unlabelledView post →If, by some chance, Trump actually is dead, what's happening behind closed doors in Washington right now is making THE DEATH OF STALIN look like a Bergman film.
unlabelledView post →A gal who, when asked what her favorite comic-book movie is, confidently replies “The Death of Stalin”
unlabelledView post →From what I've heard, as soon as he drops dead, the movie The Death Of Stalin is going to become an accurate portrayal of TWO major world events
unlabelledView post →Watching the 2017 movie “The Death of Stalin” for no particular reason.
unlabelledView post →For absolutely no particular reason, just totally random, I’ve been thinking about the movie The Death of Stalin where even as they carry his corpse, they are careful not to offend him.
unlabelledView post →If you are in the mood to watch a very un/comforting movie about how dipshit dictators eventually die but the monsters and fools of their inner circle continue to enforce the systems of violence they created, THE DEATH OF STALIN is streaming
unlabelledView post →I get that re: McKay! I think the mood board I have in mind for these films would be like a combo of the Big Short, Ocean’s 11, The Cohen Brothers, the Death of Stalin, The Social Network, etc. Thanks for the pope movie rec!
unlabelledView post →everybody should watch The Death of Stalin it’s my Emotional Support Movie right now
unlabelledView post →If you haven't watched The Death of Stalin, it's a hilarious movie... but perhaps also prophetic?
unlabelledView post →btw, the film The Death of Stalin is on IPlayer www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...
unlabelledView post →The Death of Stalin is also a much better movie than the comic it was based on.
unlabelledView post →Ahem, we all know the best comic book movie is either THE DEATH OF STALIN or (if you count collected editions of comic strips) THE LIFE AND DEATH OF COL. BLIMP
unlabelledView post →Think I'll rewatch The Death of Stalin today. No reason, in these specific times, to think of that film. None at all. Buncha fucking idjit screw-ups running a government. No reason at all it should be on my mind. None.
unlabelledView post →"The Death of Stalin" is an amazing movie and I can't believe I missed it the first time around. I have not laughed that hard in a long time. And it is especially interesting to watch in Our Current Moment, Times Being What They Are.

unlabelledView post →I mean, I'm just assuming we'd get the events of the Death of Stalin film but more ridiculous. The real question is which cabinet member Jason Isaacs would do an excellent job of hamming it up as?
unlabelledView post →Last night, as a spiritual act to try to manifest the change I want to see in the world, I watched THE DEATH OF STALIN. This movie is devastatingly funny. It reminded us of Brexit when it came out but now has other connotations, what with the scheming viziers and crass morons. Great movie.
unlabelledView post →#NowWatching The Death of Stalin (2017) Dir: @aiannucci.bsky.social
unlabelledView post →Why yes, I am thinking about the 2017 film “The Death of Stalin” based on the 2012 graphic novel of the same name. Why do you ask?
unlabelledView post →The Death of Stalin is my favorite movie, a masterpiece, hilarious and grim at the same time.
unlabelledView post →MOVIE NIGHT The Death of Stalin (2017)
unlabelledView post →The proper film/series about the Nazi government would be a dark comedy version of "The Thick Of It" plus "The Death Of Stalin" with horrible scenes set in the actual fighting for counterpoint. This probably does not have an audience, of course.
unlabelledView post →The movie I wanted to see was sold out, but I was already at the theatre so I figured I might as well see the historical drama they were showing... The Death of Stalin
unlabelledView post →It has real vibes of the Death Of Stalin film. Good
unlabelledView post →It should be pointed out, and for the record, that The Death of Stalin is a fucking remarkable film.
unlabelledView post →I'm just flashing back to the Death of Stalin movie.
unlabelledView post →Marshal Zhukov cruelly bullying people into enacting their will is exactly what anyone would expect if they were either close followers of the AskHistorians projects or devotees of the classic film "The Death of Stalin"
unlabelledView post →watched “The Death of Stalin” tonight for the first time. Really, really good movie and satire with wobbly historical accuracy, brutally funny (emphasis on brutal), and filled with actors with wonderfully interesting faces that are fun to watch emote. All Hail Steve Buscemi. ⭐️ 👏
unlabelledView post →Honestly, right now, The Death Of Stalin counts as an uplifting feel-good movie.
unlabelledView post →Makes me think of the movie “The Death of Stalin”…only it’ll be more pathetic however possibly quite funny because it’s a clown car idiots in his cabinet right now and they’re sure to do many stupid things 😂
unlabelledView post →My wife and I have decided that our big holiday movie nights this year will be Billy Wilder's The Apartment, and The Death of Stalin. I know Stalin died in the Spring, but it's the feel-good celebration I need this season! www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9eA...
unlabelledView post →Okay! This one comes highly recommended by @jamielittleflower.bsky.social: 2017 political black-comedy film The Death of Stalin, from Armando Iannucci, based on a graphic novel, La Mort de Staline. Buscemi plays Kruschev, which was what hooked me. Here goes! Stay tuned as we #LiveSky 🤓 #FilmSky 📽️

unlabelledView post →An Epstein coverup strategy meeting without Trump or his viceroy Stephen Miller? Hmmm. Sounds like the machinations of the various factions in the film The Death of Stalin. Except Trump/Stalin isn't dead. Yet. 🧵
unlabelledView post →Ah, I remember The Death of Stalin. That was a fun movie. No real reason to mention it now, I guess.
