Their Finest
During the Blitz of World War II, a female screenwriter works on a film celebrating England's resilience as a way to buoy a weary populace's spirits. Her efforts to dramatise the true story of two sisters who undertook their own maritime mission to rescue wounded soldiers are met with mixed feelings by a dismissive all-male staff. From TMDB

I recently found the list I compiled while trying to name him in the novel. Alternatives included: Allerdyce Hilliard, Laddie Conroy and Bevis Montagnon!

Besides the lighthearted Dogme 95 film ITALIAN FOR BEGINNERS and her Best Picture nominee AN EDUCATION, Scherfig also made the best movie about Dunkirk to come out in 2017 (THEIR FINEST). #ISaidWhatISaid #WomensHistoryMonth #18 #Filmsky 📽 🧵 [19/32]

The story of a female screenwriter trying to craft a morale-boosting film for the British public post Dunkirk, it boasts an all-star cast of British character actors and left me on the verge of tears. #filmsky letterboxd.com/fitzmartin/f...

This in turn makes me wonder if you've read Lissa Evans' Their Finest Hour and a Half, which follows characters trying to make a propaganda film in London during the Blitz? www.penguin.co.uk/books/435327...

Brilliant writing, casting and acting. And it’s got Bill Nighy in it - be still my beating heart… Thank you for writing it
