That is happening right now, in real life, among US troops in the Carribbean. Except in the movie, the demand kept the crime from happening.
unlabelledView post →Best war film ever made about to kick off on TPTV. I will not be accepting alternatives. Except 49th Parallel. Oh and Paths of Glory. But this might be the best one. As you were.
unlabelledView post →There's a Stanley Kubrick movie about this that takes place in WWI called Paths of Glory. It's really haunting. Russia's morality is back in the 1910s.
unlabelledView post →French is an appropriate language to turn to, since Kubrick made a film titled PATHS OF GLORY, which was about French soldiers in WWI. Of course, Kubrick also directed THE SHINING. 5/5 www.michaelwhelan.com/galleries/ch...

Sadly identifiable & relevant, playing politics with human life isn't a bug in the military industrial complex, it's a feature. #filmsky 📽 Criterion Collection 538

unlabelledView post →#lastfourwatched #letterboxd #letterboxdfriday #filmsky Watched Paths of Glory (just wow) and Vera Drake this evening. I'll be lucky to do a double bill of that quality again... Personally thought Peeping Tom was objectively good but the body of the film didn't quite match the very strong opening
unlabelledView post →I saw “Paths of Glory” on German television when I was nine or ten years old. An incredible experience. This movie made me think about war, politics and not least about movies and art. My first film book, which I bought when I was 14, was about Stanley Kubrick...
unlabelledView post →#NowWatching PATHS OF GLORY (1957). Director: Stanley Kubrick. Kirk Douglas, Ralph Meeker. Kubrick's anti-war classic is, perhaps, more relevant than ever. What if power-hungry, inhuman, delusional hypocrites were in charge of War Department? Oh, wait.... #filmsky 📽 Criterion Collection 538
unlabelledView post →Kirk Douglas was so impressed with this film, he sought out Kubrick to direct PATHS OF GLORY (1957) #TCMParty #TheKilling ^JW
unlabelledView post →alway so much talk about Kubrick but never PATHS OF GLORY. Indisputably his greatest movie.
unlabelledView post →Do you have a favorite film scene that you come back to again and again?. For me, it has to be [this, the final scene from Stanley Kubrick's "Paths Of Glory".](https://youtu.be/pJH8hO7VlWE)
unlabelledView post →Saw my favorite Kubrick movie, PATHS OF GLORY, on the big screen today. What a marvelous experience.

unlabelledView post →Paths of Glory is a great movie.
unlabelledView post →If I'm not mistaken, the movie on the drive-in screen in this clip from the 1958 movie Lonelyhearts is Stanley Kubrick's 1957 classic, Paths of Glory. Incidents of this sort of film-in-film shot using a real movie were fairly uncommon (but not unknown, of course) in Hollywood as far as I know.

unlabelledView post →I've long thought that Ridley Scott's first Gladiator film seemed to replicate shots from Leni Riefenstahl's Triumph of the Will and other movies. So I made split screens to compare them. First, Gladiator and Stanley Kubrick's Paths of Glory. youtu.be/JH64LKyZ_Dw

unlabelledView post →Hot take: #PathsOfGlory is a better movie than Full Metal Jacket. I love Kubrick. But Full Metal Jacket loses me when it gets out of basic training. Paths of Glory is riveting from start to finish and asks really tough questions about war and brings home the horrors of combat. #TCMParty
unlabelledView post →Tonight on TCM #TCM PATHS OF GLORY (1957) A great anti-war film, co-written by Jim Thompson and directed by Stanley Kubrick. Essential viewing.🎥

unlabelledView post →Time is a funny thing. Tom Cruise is still a major movie star; he starred in a film by Stanley Kubrick (Eyes Wide Shut); Kubrick made a movie that co-starred Adolphe Menjou (Paths of Glory), who starred in a film directed by D.W Griffith (The Sorrows of Satan). Griffith.... well you know who he is.
unlabelledView post →This year, I've seen 24 2025 releases, but overall I've gone to see a movie in the theater 53 times. Some new movies many times (SINNERS, Mickey 17, Superman, etc), some '24 releases (Nosferatu, A Real Pain, etc), many old movies (Thief, Paths of Glory, etc). 53 trips to DAH MOOVEESSH in 48 weeks.

unlabelledView post →Great discussion by the @warmovietheatre.bsky.social crew about one of my favorite genre mixes — war and noir. Attack! is hard-boiled combat drama with a fantastic cast, unsung and ahead of its time. Nice counterpart to another fave, Kubrick's Paths of Glory. Get the podcast, see the movie. #noir

unlabelledView post →Have you seen "Paths of Glory?" Probably the best anti-war movie ever made. Kubrick had a very definite point of view when it came to war and the military.
unlabelledView post →Please clap: I flipped over to Turner a few minutes into Paths of Glory and managed to switch away after two or three scenes because I really need some sleep tonight. (Greatest anti-war movie ever? Greatest movie ever? 3rd-greatest Kubrick anti-war movie? Somewhere in there!)
unlabelledView post →watched Paths of Glory after work and goddamn that is a movie that made me really angry (this is a compliment)
unlabelledView post →You can always tell when someone hasn’t actually seen Paths of Glory, Kubrick’s most perfect movie
unlabelledView post →I bought this book and found it was like reading a book you'd already read before. That it, so profoundly correct that it seems like a cliche. It was like watching the portrayal of generals in every movie that's a variation on Paths of Glory.
unlabelledView post →Not sure if this movie applies. "Paths of Glory" 1957 Kirk Douglas Director Stanley Kubrick.
unlabelledView post →Just watched the Paths of Glory disc I got off criterion a few months ago. Movie still kicks ass, and now I own it so I can loan it to you.
unlabelledView post →Just watched Paths of Glory (which is obviously brilliant), and now I’ve seen every Stanley Kubrick movie. Fear and Desire aside, pretty good stuff.

unlabelledView post →Paths of Glory is a great movie. Maybe my favorite Kubrick. The first half is a battle, the second half is about the political aftermath within the military. It’s explicitly political and not at all the normal politics of a war film.
unlabelledView post →Now watching: ‘Paths of Glory’, dir. Stanley Kubrick, 1957. 🎬🎥

unlabelledView post →Paths of Glory Half war movie, half political/legal drama. I mean that in the literal sense. The first half is a war movie with battles and death and the second half is pure character-driven drama. Certified classic cinema.
unlabelledView post →Yep. The snuff-vids the US military was making of destroying boats apparently had stopped satisfying the Orange Monster, so he decided to up the body count. This is the evil, monstrous appetite for brutality depicted, in a much smaller way, in Kirk Douglas/Stanley Kubrick's film "Paths of Glory".

unlabelledView post →The best anti war films I’ve seen, in chronological order… Paths of Glory, Come and See, Waltz with Bashir. It can be done. But tough to do, especially (maybe impossible) as an action movie.
unlabelledView post →On this day in movie history: Paths of Glory directed by Stanley Kubrick released December 25, 1957.
