The unconventional religious approach proves either refreshing or offensive depending on viewer sensibilities."

positive · AI labelView post →Wrote a review of the new Nic Cage Biblical 'horror' film "The Carpenter's Son" which I found to have less blasphemous mischief and more earnest spiritual meditation than the previews would have us believe. poptheology.com/find-me-amon...
positive · AI labelView post →THE CARPENTER'S SON Worked pretty well as a horror movie but there was a beginning, a middle, and...not much of an ending. The story was decent (to a point), the acting was decent, but it just kind of drifts off. Not awful, though. Despite the 4.1 on IMDb. 6/10 #100HorrorMoviesIn92days #HorrorSky

For those who don't know, this is a horror movie starring Nicolas Cage and based on "The Infancy Gospel of Thomas," a Gnostic text from the second or so century. Yes, a horror movie. About Jesus.

neutral · AI labelView post →Watched The Carpenter's Son (2025) last night. An...interesting film. It's set in biblical times and is basically "teenage Jesus is tempted by Satan" but also Joseph is played by Nicolas Cage. It's competently filmed and Isla Johnston is excellent as Satan. Still not sure if it's good or not...
neutral · AI labelView post →Watching The Carpenter's Son (2025). Apparently, this is a horror film based on the Infancy Gospel.of Thomas. So. First, hahaha, and second, I can see how they'd get a horror story from that Gospel lol but still.

What's it like to raise a teenaged Jesus? Interesting if you're of the faith, perhaps, as it's a little known time in the Savior's life.

unlabelledView post →The Carpenter's Son starts with a great premise - the Infancy Gospel of Thomas as a horror movie starring Nicholas Cage - then proceeds to miss the point for ninety minutes straight. "Conventional" and "boring" should not be the adjectives that spring to mind here.
unlabelledView post →Watched The Carpenter's Son. A movie I really liked but feel "historical horror movie based on apocrapha christian texts" is maybe a niche appeal
unlabelledView post →Call me crazy, but I thought THE CARPENTER'S SON was decent. I didn't need the caption at the beginning explaining what the apocryphal gospels are or that the movie was based on one. I simply liked the straight-forward horror tale that asked "what if you were possessed by god, not the devil?" 1/?

The portrayal of Satan is fantastic, especially in the way it has Jesus see him/her differently than everyone else. youtube.com/watch?v=3GSU...
unlabelledView post →youtu.be/3GSUbJB0oOg?... The Carpenter's Son was a great Easter film - a lost gospel? Parents of teenage boys do wonder what happened to Jesus during his teen years. Whose son has been tempted by Satan? Yeah, me too, Joseph. You need an exorcist there!
