Although Match 3 games are relaxing, they quickly become dull because of their repetitiveness. That’s why when I started to play Tales of the Orient I expected to be bored after 30 minutes – 1 hour of gameplay. Instead of that I found myself playing it for hours straight, without needing a break. What makes it so enjoyable then? Maybe it’s the fact that the goals are so well set that they make you want to play “just one more level before I quit” – during each level you collect gold that you…

Yes, I know, how can I spend 67 (omg) hours on a game I don't recommend afterall? Steam's system is flawed, games and opinions are much more diverse than YES or NO. If there were other options, this game would get the "If there's nothing better" or "meh" rating, because it's just ... generic. It has a few strong points, and just as many weak ones, making it really hard to foresee if a random user would like it or not. Start with the positives: - The best one: you can choose your game: match…

Tales of the Orient: The Rising Sun is a match three game that has two other types of matching modes built into the game. The game also has a story line, that is enjoyable to do as well. The main game is basically 100 levels and each level has a different board to play on. Instead of endless just matching pieces though, you are given goals to achieve to pass each level which keeps the game interesting as you go along. So checking your goals before you start is the best way to get going. What…

Of course people who make games want the description to be exciting and positive, but the description for this game has got to be from some other, more fun game that they forgot to make. I picture a design meeting where they asked everyone to call out the first thing that came to mind when hearing the word "Japan". "Sushi!" yelled Bob from accounting. "Samurai!" called out Jim, the janitor. "Good, good, keep em coming." said Jane, as she jotted down the suggestions. "Geisha!" "Ninja…

(日本語は下のほう) I wanted to recommend it, but I COULDN'T. The game is said to be set on Edo era in Japan, but It's so historically inaccurate and things are mixed up with Chinese. I don't think Geisha, Sumo and Samurai Temple being real. Having a Zen Garden too close to a Forge isn't very logical, either(As metalworking would make LOTS of sounds, and silence is important for Zen.). Childrens and buildings look too much chinese, and there are more things to complain, but I'll cut it for now.…

This is the Burger King of Match 3 games: you can have it your way. There are 3 different ways to play: Swap, Chain, or Pop. Swap is the traditional match 3, as in Bejeweled, where you click on a tile, then click on a second tile to swap them and make a match. Chain is like in Tidalis, where you use the mouse to create a path of the same type of tile and then clear them. Pop is similar to Season Match, click on groups of 3 or more matching tiles to clear them. Personally I prefer Swap.…

Superb game, almost Zen like, so good I chose this to be my 2000th Steam game. Nice twist on the match-3 genre and doesn't stoop to the low low levels of that Hunnypop rubbish. If you're a teenager who's currently playing CS:GO, TF2 or some other mindless FPS, do yourself a favour and get this, it's where you'll end up anyway once your reaction times start to slip. Only feature I'd really like to see added is controller support but it's a solid 8/10 without.

First of all, not all my gaming hours were logged because I was playing it often while I was on the go, and there was no wifi available. The best feature of this game is it's fully compatible with a windows10 tablet. Very touch screen friendly. Works perfectly on desktop too. So I recommend this game to everyone who likes objective based match-3 games, but beware! It's not an easy game. You can choose from 3 different play styles: swap, pop and chain. Most of the time I play in swap mode but…

A match-3 puzzle, Tales of the Orient has 100 different stages with increasing difficulty and 3 game modes option each. The graphics are very cute and the effects and soundtrack are quite nice. * PORTUGUÊS * Puzzle estilo "combine-3", Tales of the Orient tem 100 fases diferentes de dificuldade crescente, com opção de 3 modos de jogo cada. Personal Rating: 7.5 of 10 A match three game with a twist. When I first started playing, I almost uninstalled it after 5 minutes. The game was very difficult even just on stage 2 because the spaces are tight and blocked while tiles don't spawn on the side after I accidentally cleared the bottom. However I come to realise that you can actually rotate the puzzle and the tiles will start to fill up the empty spaces again. How silly of me. Apart from your convention swapping tiles, you can also…

A very nice casual time killer i give it 9/10 The goal is to match symbols on or around objects you need to remove from the board, stuf like ice or chains or stones or boxes every object has its own way to remove it for example a chain can be removed by matching symbols a few times on the tile with the chain, stones wil go away if you match symbols a few times next to it and there are a few more mechanics aswell as a table you can flip any way around, a shuffle every few min, 4 abilities you…

A classic match-3 game with Japanese elements and inconsequential story. You can unlock a few buildings on a map with the coins you have made and have something to look at. In the end, thank you for the courage and dedication. Please, you're welcome. In the 100 levels, it takes more and more time to clear the hurdles. At first still simple 10-20 moves, in the end 80-100 moves. You can choose between 'Relaxed' and 'Difficult' (with maximum moves specified), so it's very easy and casual if you…

Even though 'Tales Of The Orient - The Rising Sun' is just a Match 3 game, I still had a good time with it. There's enough variety and it's addicting enough to keep playing it for a while before it gets dull. Also there's something about the music I really enjoyed so for anyone enjoying Match 3 games this is one of the best.

This game is your average match 3 game. Average being the keyword. My main problems with this game: As a first impression: the custom pointer is broken. Launching the game for the first time, you don't see where your mouse is, so good luck setting things up etc. If I didn't use a pen tablet with area fixed to screen I would have given up. The story does not add anything to the game. You're supposed to save a village after a raiding horde has destroyed it. Or something. All you get from the…

This is a casual game with the mechanics of match-3. Your goal is to rebuild your village, destroyed by invaders. For that, you have 100 levels of matching the same picture at least 3 times. But do you know why this game is also different from every match-3 game? You can choose casual and timed mode. Or perhaps, this is more about choosing the mode you'll play the level: classic match-3 (swap mode), making chains (chain mode, like in the game 4 Elements) or taking all tiles of the same…

The artworks for that game are absolutely gorgeous, some of the most beautiful pictures I've had the pleasure to see in a videogame. Wouldn't be surprised that David Revoy was influenced by the works of Michi Himeno. Most of his stuff is in the screenshots of the store page. Out of all my Steam profile backgrounds, his geisha is probably my favorite. I didn't craft it, so I had to buy it. That's how much I like it. Also, the music is pretty good. Uninspired, but good. I really want to like this match 3 game (which is smoothly programmed and has some nice features, and feels like a phone port), but it's just too triggerhappy on giving hints for me. About every minute, regardless what I'm doing, an animated arrow about 60% the size of one of the tiles will appear, and slowly wave back and forth to point out the move it would suggest -- and it stays there until I have made a move. It is immensely distracting, and difficult to ignore -- and I'd rather play the…

Alright, I don't want to seem like i'm being harsh, but the price tag is not worth it. 9.99 is way too much and to be honest. Unless you are a really big fan of puzzle games I would not recomend it. The game achievements go based on how much time you put into the game which should tell you something. While I like the music and the mood of the game a bit, unless you can get it for less then 5 dollars I would not get it.

Another match-3 wannabe in an ancient apanese setting (not anime at least). The problem with this game is that it borrows mechanics from nearly every other popular match-3 game and... it doesn't work out well. The game field design is rather uninpressive and the village building part is just useless. There are better casual games to procrastinate.

My playtime: 15.6 h (100% achievements, based on steam) Intro Tales of the Orient: The Rising Sun is a match 3 game with a little story and objectives. If you often play match 3 games, you might know that there are several types of match 3 games. Match 3 or more of the same tile, either by chaining them together, popping blocks already next to eachother or switching. While you do this you are rebuilding a village with the gold you earn from the games. When you match 5 or more of the same tile you get a bomb, in this game the bomb will be in the tile you clicked to make the match so you can plan where to place it. And you can rotate the board and there is a scramble on a timer if there is no more matches to be had. It's mostly like…

It's a match-3 game clearly cribbing notes from Candy Crush, but it doesn't pester you for additional money past your purchase. Plus, the art style isn't as annoyingly saccharine cutesy. The game has a "challenge" mode where you are limited in moves like Candy Crush, but also a "relaxation" mode where you have infinite moves, just in case you're sick and don't want to think too hard, or you want to let your 4-year-old have a game without ever feeling frustrated. As far as match-3 games go, it's OK. All of the concepts are well thought out - artwork, putting in a story line to tie to progression, having four skills to help beat the levels, three modes of play, but I came away feeling it could have been so much more. You get the full suite of skills by level 20. Pop and Chain mode - you spend more time waiting for the shuffle button than actually playing and the part that's annoying is that you can't minimize the game and do something else - has to…

One of the games ever made! This is a match-3 game that doesn't pretend it is a visual novel or RPG. As with many of these type of solitaire card and dice and match-3 games, objects are often frozen or boxed up, and an extra match in the immediate area is required. If you find this tedious or annoying, it has an easy 'relaxed' mode letting you make unlimited moves. Not worth full price-- it's a rather no-frills match 3 game-- but I'll give it a thumbs up as it's often on sale for $2.00 or…

I've always had a tiny itch to play Match 3 games, but the whole concept of microtransactions for unlimited playtime in the majority of them has always kept me away. This game, whilst simple and straighforward, scratched that itch. Not too complex, easy to grasp, challenging at times, and a simple but satisfying "story" progression. Played through the whole game, and then stuck around for the last achievement (finish 200 levels), which became a little grindy towards the end. All in all, time…
