I'd like to recommend this game but this developer has proved time and time again that they lack any capacity of self-reflection. They have added Easy Anti Cheat to both of their single player games and refuse to listen to the community that has been requesting support to launch the games without it enabled but the worse thing is that their communication has been accusatory, passive aggresive and try to emotionally manipulate anyone who expressess dissatisfaction. Unfortunately I won't be…

You will defeat these enemies with the power of darkness!! Oh, and this gun you found. This game is so criminally underrated right now. It’s a mix of Aeterna Noctis platforming and action mixed with Dead Cells mechanics, and it is such a f**king chef's kiss of pure fun you can pick up and put down anytime for some quick action. This game is fun. It's just fun. It’s really fun if you’re a fan of the Rogue Legacy flavor of meta progression. Every run is a little different. It's casual to just…

There's a lot of potentially cool features here, marred by a sort of weird half-assedness to some. My first, and primary issue, is that you can re-keybind in this game. Which is great. Except... they only half implemented it. You rebind the arrow keys to WASD? Great! Except that camera controls and menus will still demand you go back to the arrows every time. There's lots of various debuffs and DoTs and such in this game! Cool! Except... you are rarely given an explanation of what they do,…

This game straight up doesn't respect your time. The upgrades are so minimal to just milk you along with slow increases of like 1% to crit or 2% to healing that you can afford maybe 2-3 a run (and that's only at the start) that I don't understand why I'd waste my time. It's more egregious when you can tell the design team phoned in some of the aspects of this game too. Why is my dude a blonde guy with a blonde beard in gameplay (who somehow looks like he's 480p in a 1080p world) while in the…

Nice game ruined by bad performance. I measured it and it doesn't ever reach stable 120 FPS with frame drops and fluctuations that I can feel and which make precision movement inconsistent and unpleasant. While I know my system can run most games on stable 120 FPS @ 1440p, I measured similar games to be fair: * Dead Cells: stable 120 FPS * Rogue Legacy 2: stable 120 FPS * Spelunky 2: stable 120 FPS None of these game ever stuttered in a way I noticed even though I usually have vsync on.…

I don't understand the amount of good reviews on this game. The combat feels stale and the controls are clunky. All the dialogues feel like they were written by a 16 year old kid with so much cringe it hurts. Most of the music feels out of place and in general the ambiance of the game is way off in comparison to the theme of the game. This is one of the worst roguelikes that i've played that isn't just bad because of the quality. Because the quality is decent. (even though the character art…

game starts good, but once you get the jibaro, it all goes very bad. the bone heads you call to fight for you turn useless and will not fight, and it softlocks the game. at this time, getting the game is pointless. if the devs want this bad review removed or changed to be good, i'll do that once this review stops being true.

This is one of the few recent indie and RPG games that I've really got into. What I really liked about this game was the random generation of worlds. This means that each world has its own unique seed. Another strong point of this game is the graphics. I love the colours and effects! The mechanics are also easy to understand (everybody can get it at once) and the variety of weapons is great. The controls are simple and intuitive. Even someone new to this type of game will find it easy. All in…

Summum Aeterna's play just kind of feels bad, and seems to be full of boring things without anything actually positive or engaging. The metaprogression is just some lengthy lists of stat upgrades and drop bonuses. The "world seed" is just a rudimentary maps system that, again, merely comes out to a boring list of modifiers. The platforming is poor and barren. The weapons (of which there are only three kinds) have little to do, and at least one plays downright awfully. The fighting and…

Meh. For the first 6 hours or so you're intrigued by the high difficulty and interesting worlds. I also found the dialogue clever. There is nothing glaringly wrong with how your character controls and combat can be fun. Problem is it's pretty repetitive -- not enough variation in worlds or enemies. Biggest problem is that there are way too many types of currency and the meaningful upgrades (ie, a new weapon) cost way too much. You end up grinding way too much, experiencing the same content…

Written By Hidden Gems Review : https://store.steampowered.com/curator/38624426/, Follow me! Summum Aeterna is a Metrovania Roguelite game. The game made me remember rogue legacy 2 it's exactly the same fast paced super fluid gameplay which I love on roguevanias, easy to control but hard to master. The roguelite features on this game are great and very original, there are a lot of things for upgrade and not only the typical stats but the metaprogression feels very real. High replay value…

Unplayable without being able to change key binds for some of us. If you can handle wonkey 1998 keyboard controls then you are fine. Personally I can't get past the first level. To be specific, you cant remap to use WASD as movement and mouse, with side buttons to attack. Happy now developer rather than suggesting my experience isnt "real"? It doesn't take more than 10 minutes to find out the game has technical flaws that make the game unplayable for you. If the FPS was terrible, and I tried…

Really fun game. Can be a bit challenging, especially in the beginning. The first hour of gameplay I was very very hesitant if I had made a good purchase or not, and I was admittedly struggling. I could see there was a lot of meat on the bones but couldn't access much of it. (There are about six different meta currencies- that really could and should be cut down a bit imo) After a few hours though the game really opens up and you have tons and tons of variation and customization to just about…

Well this is awkward. I've played Aeterna Noctis - their previous game - for around 20 hours and loved it, even calling it "a worthy successor of Hollow Knight"! But this game simply didn't click with me. The "roguelite" format doesn't really work here in my opinion, you are simply forcing me to pick a weapon I dislike (well, I dislike all of them) and fight way too overleveled enemies, died a million times until I get a scrap of 10% extra damage and maybe can make a dent in the boring enemies…

Think Rogue Legacy, but crank up time wasting to over 9000. ✔ crafting maps (RNG) and multiple paths for meta-progression ? repurposed everything from Aeterna Noctis (which is very good!) ? life sustain is king ? meta progression is emperor ✘ very repetitive dungeon crawling ✘ combat is either about staying far away and sniping as ranged or throwing yourself at the enemy to stunlock them in melee ✘ extremely grindy - stopped playing after opening first "lootbox" for 50 total levelups - got…

This game is a true gem. Very similar to Dead Cells. There are a good amount of content to grind for and to beat (if you like going for hard modifiers and stuff). Sadly its development has been abandoned, some areas in this game lack a bit of tuning and balancing. But not all games have to have infinite amount of content coming in. You get what you get and you get a lot with this game. Overall it's a very well made game, with very good progression. You unlock more content, weapons, NPCs,…

Creating an off-genre spinoff of Aeterna Noctis sounded such a great idea - the great lore was there to support the experience, the basis for the great visuals was also there, and the movement controls simply didn't need changing, they were so good in the original game. Going the roguelite combat route was somewhat risky, as combat was never a strong aspect of A.N., but if the team focuses on that, then a significant improvement is inevitable, right? Well, wrong. With a lot of hard work,…

Not quite as good as it's predecessor, but still fun. Way more fun than I thought it would be, but still don't recommend it. Fairly straight forward rogue lite. Gameplay loop is simple and rewarding. It's a heavy rogue-lite, lot's of progression, and didn't waste my time. Maps are really basic and appear to be randomized. You are able to fast travel from the start to any major room, so the game is quick and convenient to explore. The game is really transparent with you, showing all enemies,…

Really tried to like this game! I had a major bug that caused me to have restart 12 hours in and that was a more than a little annoying! BUT MY main problem was the overall lack of changes in traversal options (and level design that goes with that) i.e. all of the movement mechanics are explained right away and the level design feels too simplistic because of this. I also have trouble with it because they made the game solely about enemy difficulty and slowly building up to beating that…

It takes inspiration from games such as Dead Cells, Blasphemous and Hollow Knight. The combat and art are absolutely phenomenal. KAMGUSTA'S MINI REVIEW It's a roguelite focused on combat and exploration of random worlds, sequel of "Aeterna Noctis". The execution is somewhat good and somewhat bad, game is nowhere near as good as "Dead Cells" or "Rogue Lite 2". Simple level design, lack of polishing, difficult spikes and average upgrades (weapons/abilities) make this game a missed opportunity. It's not updated anymore, so that hope is also lost. The developer has known this for over a year and has not fixed this. I also had it do Chinese? when I paused during a boss fight. How can a developer not fix this in that amount of time. Summum Aeterna is a very good continuation game. The best roguelite with original art. Very spectacular and colorful environment and levels in the game) I recommend it to everyone, the game is worth it.
