storm boy is based on a classic australian children's novel I haven't read, and since the game is only about half an hour, it's more of a cliffnotes version of the story about a boy living with his dad and his pelican friend somewhere in australia. the game consists of walking around the beach, meeting a few characters and playing a bunch of mini-games, like flying around, feeding pelicans, drawing in the sand, rafting and swimming, etc. some give a bit more depth to the characters or the…

Of the many things that I'm not, being Australian is one. This means that tragically my childhood was spent unknowingly devoid of Colin Thiele, a beloved Australian children's book author, poet and historian. My adulthood would have suffered the same fate, had this game not introduced me to his wonderful work. Storm Boy is a short interactive narrative game based on the 1964 book by Thiele and is currently available for pretty much every conceivable platform (PC, mobile, and console); I'll be…

I did not even know this game was based on a book before I played it, but wow... what a beautiful little story. ♡ It is very short (about 30 minutes), but honestly, I didnt mind at all. The game is mostly little relaxing mini-games. Nothing difficult or stressful! just a cozy experience that lets the story shine. I got it on sale for €0.99 and it was absolutely worth it. I was NOT expecting to get so attached to a pelican, but here we are. 😭Mr. Percival completely stole my heart. This is one…

Storm Boy lived with his father, Hide-Away Tom. Years before, when Storm Boy's mother had died, he had left Adelaide and gone to live like a hermit by the sea. 'Storm Boy' is a beautiful game, that tells a heart-warming story of Storm Boy's childhood by the sea. Prepare some handkerchiefs and get ready to share a tear or two. Only the stone-cold hearted will not be touched by this short little game, that deserves a 100% recommendation. For about an hour, this little gem brings sunshine and…

This game is bad even for kid standards. All you get is a very short text-based story and a few sloppy mini games which you would find on newgrounds back in the day (and for free). I have a hard time finding anything positive to say about it, maybe the fast and easy achievements but that about sums it up.

I grew up with this book as a kid and I will always love it. While there is far more to this beautiful story than the game covers, it does well in 30 mins to share the heartwarming tale of a young boy and his best friend. Thank you Blowfish Studios for bringing this book to life. This is on sale right now for AU$2.55 and it is worth every cent. Don't even think about it, a coffee costs more.

Alright. **Storm Boy** is done and dusted. Technically, it's really called "Colin Thiele's Storm Boy The Gane" and is a retelling of an old Australian children's tale, but I was unfamiliar with that book prior to playing this. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3052562980 It's a quick (half hour or so) walking simulator with some mini games to enjoy and is basically the story of a fisherman's son who finds three hungry baby pelicans, nurses and raises them and eventually…

Storm Boy The friendships you will always remember. Colin Thiele isn't widely known here as he is in his native Australia, but Blowfish Studio's does a reasonable job of taking one of his seminal short stories for kids and moving it into the interactive digital realm. While there isn't particularly a lot to do for the gamer, and what gameplay there is is very simple consisting mostly of challenge-free mini games centred in and around the surf, this is a narrative experience first and foremost…

Storm Boy is based on the children’s novel of the same name, aimed at readers around 8–13 years old. I only learned that after playing. However, this game feels more like a picture book with a few simple mini-games scattered throughout. It’s charming, and emotionally touching, but also very short. It has only about 30 minutes of content. Most of the mini-games don’t really move the story forward, so it’s more of an interactive storybook than anything. At €5, it feels a little overpriced for…

Storm Boy is a story-driven game. It's not your usual first-person walking simulator. It features 2.5D perspective, which lets you see the protagonist and makes you care about him a bit more than in a usual walking simulator. The story follows a lonely boy, who lives by the sea with his father. One day the boy finds three little pelicans in a nest and saves them from starvation. This is where the story of a friendship starts. The game is segmented into 4 chapters. In each chapter you walk…

Before you read this, I downvoted this game for people that want to see the opinions of people that didn't like this game, I'm not saying this game is actually bad. This isn't a bad game, just not as sad as it was made out to be. I'm not Australian so I wasn't aware of the book that this game is based on so I don't really have the childhood nostalgia for this story, but from what I heard this game was supposed to be a beautiful story about a boy and his bird. While that is partially true, I…

This is not a game per se but a story. It is quite short and simple with few choices or variations. The music and sound effects are delightful and if you want a moment to get away from a busy world, the sound of the gently crashing waves will be a joy. Without spoiling too much I will say this: I cried a little. So if you are a sensitive type, go in knowing this story will tug at your heart strings. Replay in terms of content is low. Replay in terms of relaxation is high. Good for all ages…

Pretty, but incredibly simple. You don't need to meet any goals for the minigames (even the plot important ones can be skipped), and outside of those you just walk right. I'd give a better review if it was two USD or less, but five is asking way too much.

Short but Beautiful Storm Boy is a very short but very beautiful game about a young boy and a pelican. It's based on an Australian book and is a game that players both young and old will be able to enjoy. While $6 is a bit steep, it's definitely worth getting on a sale. Serenity now. 😏 I can only recommend this title if you can grab it on sale for under 2 bucks. It’s normal asking price of $5.99 seems a bit steep for what little content there is. Most people will complete the game and grab all its achievements in about an hour. Now with that being said, this game is a very soothing experience. You can go at your own pace for the most part, with only one of the mini-games actually yielding failure and causing the player to have to restart that section.…

The game is cute, heartfelt and beautiful. The graphics are pretty, the story short but nice to follow, the minigames are a neat extra to waste some time on. The story is lovely! it took me 30-40 minutes to 100% the game, maybe 15 minutes just for the playthrough. I probably would buy it on sale as 30 minutes for 5 bucks seem a bit much but that is for everyone to decide for themselves.

I cannot recommend this. $5 for less than half an hour of content is extremely scummy. This game is more like a "tech demo" (that has mediocre graphics) with some really bad story tacked on top. The story itself is completely nonsensical and cannot even be used for a "children's book" type of experience.

I can't recommend this game enough it's short, heartfelt and even choked me up at end. Game play wise,it's a linear game with some easy mini games. Very chill and charming. Storm Boy is a short walking-sim adaptation of the classic children’s book, more of a relaxing interactive story than a “game” in the traditional sense. You’ll stroll the beach, enjoy a few easy mini-games, and soak up a nice, calming atmosphere that feels like a tiny seaside getaway. It won’t take you more than ~30 minutes to finish, and while there’s not much replay value, the serene vibe and simple story make it worth a go — achievements are super easy too.

It's a very short story of a boy and his bird. I mean very short, like you'd expect a children's book to be. But the message is a little too sad for a child to enjoy this game. But in the same respect the little mini games are too simple for an adult to feel challenged. So who is this game for? This is a solid "game" but I'd say it's more of a visual novel. The story is excellent and moving. The music is also fantastic and pairs perfectly with the scenes and helps evoke the emotions the creator is going for. The mini-games are okay. Storm Boy is best for kids in elementary school but possibly up to middle school. It has a good moral to the story that will pull the emotional strings of adults. It reminded me of my first pet and the heartache of loss. The main downside to this story is…
