Stellaris is a 4X grand strategy video game developed by Paradox Development Studio and published by Paradox Interactive. Players take control of an interstellar civilization on the galactic stage and are tasked with exploring, colonising, and managing their region of the galaxy, encountering other civilizations that they can then engage in diplomacy, trade, or warfare with. A large part of the game involves dealing… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

unlabelledView post →I'm writing to express my concern regarding the extent of data collection in Stellaris. I recently learned that the game collects detailed information such as SteamID, computer configuration, gameplay behavior, progress, browser type, and IP address. This data is gathered periodically. I find this level of data collection excessive and intrusive. While I understand that some telemetry may support game updates and technical improvements, the scope and mandatory nature of this tracking make me…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After years of playing this game and adoring it despite all its flaws, even buying their rushed DLCs, I will no longer be supporting this company or their practices. They have begun to use generative AI garbage to pump out cheap, ugly, lazy trash for exorbitant prices and I will not support a company that throws ethics and artists to the wind to turn a profit. Shame on you, Paradox.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Currently can't recommend, Paradox has been pushing constant DLC and changes to gameplay that make it impossible to track. Not worth the amount of money Paradox wants from you. Edit: AI generated content included too? Can I give a very negative review?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game in the past and cannot recommend it. Plenty of other reviews highlight the major issues. Very predatory pricing model, poor endgame performance, and too much of a rush to push out new dlc instead of refining how old ones work together. I feel for the devs, as a decent amount of this is likely not something they can control. If someone that is in charge of these decisions does end up reading this, I will NEVER consider spending any more money on any paradox game unless the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to love this game and have spent countless nights where I should have been studying, ruling the star systems with friends. However I am so tired of taking a break, coming back and having to relearn the game because they rework how the game runs and functions every month or so. Very few times have these changes actually improved the game, many break it. I understand it's paradox, but the DLC are insane, I have most of them and can that most of them should have been built into the main…

unlabelledView post →The funniest/saddest reaction to this amazing article has been people going "wait, Stellaris has WRITERS?" Yes folks, if a game has words... someone probably got paid to write them... even if that game isn't an RPG or a visual novel...
unlabelledView post →40k is a deeply unserious setting (archon plays with a colony like it’s a game of Stellaris , then gets bored)
unlabelledView post →It makes me so incredibly sad to tick the thumbs down for this game. For a long, long time, Stellaris was my favourite 4x of all time. The initial release was shaky but had good bones, bones which were reinforced and built upon with some fantastic updates and DLC over the years. The aesthetic was wonderful, the musical score was wonderful, the sheer detail that has been added to allow customisation of your civilisation is incredible, and the variety of events and crises you could encounter…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The developer has adopted a predatory DLC model that has effectively rendered the base game mechanics unplayable and severely unbalanced.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is probably the best thing i can describe for this game.... and really any paradox game in general. You buy the game. it is something super cool and interesting and up your alley. They send an update. the game is completely new and different. they replace so many things that it doesn't feel like the same game. you get used to it. They release a major update. And the cycle continues. At this point Stellaris has been about 5 different games with a similar backbone. I got this back when…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved Stellaris, right up until it became clear I was being DLC farmed by Paradox while still waiting for them to fix major base-game issues. My experience went like this: love the game, can’t get enough of it, but can’t actually finish campaigns because of late-game performance problems. A new DLC releases, I buy it, the core issues remain unfixed. The DLC introduces new problems, those aren’t fixed either. Then another DLC releases. Rinse and repeat. I may have been born in the morning,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game and it's DLC's prove that AI cannot fix a company that's already cutting corners.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY THE STARTER PACK THEY ARE GIVING THIS FOR FREE AS PART OF THE BASE GAME SOON Other than that, My favourite game of all time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →stellaris is a cash cow that's threatening to burst. i've reached a point where i can't recommend this to anyone. tldr; Paradox gave us something that was really good for a while and then bogged it down with incomplete releases at high prices for downloadable content that should have been in the base game. look, i LOVED this game. i played so much of it nonstop for hours and hours and hours- hours spent mainly in single player with a handful of private lobbies as well. it was fun, plain and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was quite happy with Stellaris before they started using Generative AI. This negative review will stand until it is removed from the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really feels like, in Stellaris, if you defeat the Great Khan, the game ought to kill your best science officer as part of the event only to bring them back about a year later.
unlabelledView post →I love this game to bits. It's been a consistent game I'd go back to for years now - however with Paradox beginning to introduce genAI into the game (used in both the creation process and the final product updates/DLC's, take Nomads for example), I can no longer in good faith recommend this game, nor support anything from this studio. Shame on you, Paradox. Support human creations and creators. Generative AI slop will never have the soul and creative vision that REAL artists and creatives…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I nearly have a grasp of the game now. I understand and finished the Tutorial now too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've enjoyed this game for a long time, but I agree with other reviews saying it should have been called done a long time ago. While the new systems seem okay from the time I have spent with them, it is telling that they feel the need to fully rework the game every few months. Now, I might have overlooked that for a bit longer, but the inclusion of generative AI in any point in development, let alone in the conceptualization of new elements and voice acting, really just serves as a death knell…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love Stellaris, I truly do. I have played it for years and I will continue to play it for many more years to come. With that said, Stellaris will never be worth 400 dollars.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One thing I love doing is buying DLC for this space empire game Stellaris that doesn’t really change anything about the game but allows me to be a little race of mushroom men when I play it, thereby changing everything
unlabelledView post →Time passes, paid DLCs are churned out, systems are reworked into being completely foreign, content is left in a broken and bugged state in favor of the next cash grab. I adored this game when I started and I hardly even recognize it now. I genuinely wish I could recommend it, in the past I would have even, but now I really can't say enough that you should stay away, and be wary of the general Paradox profit model.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. I love Si-fi. I love RTS'. I love this mod scene. I love it all... But Paradox deserves NOTHING! Why? because they will do AT LEAST one of the following: 1. They will inevitably rework features into more complex, less casual mechanics. 2. They will release DLC after DLC well before they patch the bugs they create. 3. They will make a sequel one day and there is no guarantee it will include everything the predecessor did. Support Paradox at your own financial risk!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Things are bad but they made a game about Star Trek Voyager that looks like a cross between Stellaris and Xcom so things have never been better
unlabelledView post →I tried playing Stellaris again after God knows how long and after several hours playing as one of the new nomadic civs, I can confidently issue my review of the game:
unlabelledView post →Stellaris is one of my favourite games, that I absolutely cannot recommend. Strarting with the good: - One of the best Grand Strategy/4X games out there, you can get lost in all the strategy and empire building if that's what you're into, and that's one of the best things about this game - Great replayability, especially with mods - Speaking of which, mods. Mods are the absolute CORE of this game for me, things like Gigastructures, ACOT, extended traditions, more planet mods etc. add like 300%…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The 4.3 patch is a brilliant thing. The problem stellaris saw was low performance due to huge navies. PDX solution? Nerf EVERYTHING so huge navies are no longer possible. If a feature causes problems, just remove it! That's what you get by balancing the game around top players who know how to play it optimally. Seriously, this isn't a competitive MP game. Who cares that Bob had fun breaking the economy and printing battleships like there is no tomorrow? PDX apparently and fun is now banned.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing the 4.3 Cetus update I can say this completely killed the game for me The naval capacity changes destroyed the scale Stellaris. Its supposed to feel massive with empires spanning systems and wars involving entire civilizations. Now fleets are tiny and somehow that represents the power of entire planets! It completely breaks immersion The devs said smaller fleets make ships feel more valuable but it just makes everything feel smaller. It went from a grand strategy experience to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In video games like Civilization and Stellaris if you break agreements, the game is like "okay now you're an untrustworthy pariah who no one trusts" but if it was being realistic, these games would be like "oh I guess you're allowed, no big. just continue as normal."
unlabelledView post →I started the most fun Stellaris campaign I’ve ever had and it really starkly illustrated a key problem with the game by showing how like 90% of how fun a given campaign will be is determined by random spawn points.
unlabelledView post →look. the game has a very steep learning curve. i mean like learning this game will take you 40-50 hours. once you are past that point the game is amazing
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I anticipate a sluggish day mostly spent in bed, so I’m doin’ it. One epic game of Stellaris, coming up. If anyone needs me, the Glorious People’s Union of Snails will be terraforming.
unlabelledView post →As a girl who usually just plays Stardew valley, Sims amd BG3, I love stellaris. Its a bit difficult to learn in the beginning, BUT when you first get the hang of it its really a lot of fun. There isnt a lot of pretty/girly aliens, but that can be fixed with mods hehe. Also if you ever played Spore and the space-age was your favorite part, this is definetly the game for you. 10/10 Love <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you reset it you have to reload your save! The suspended game will not be there! I once lost two hours worth of Stellaris to this! don’t make the same mistake I did Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Paradox's dlc policy has gotten worse and now I have to take a stand. I'm not buying Paradox dlc unless they go on a massive discount, and I will not recommend any of their games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At First, I would have put a recommendation. as you can see I played this game quite a lot and I liked it as I do modding with it. However, Paradox interactive are going the same road as Sims and total war with this one and now we have a list of DLC ranking up at the time of this review at 375 € without sales. I will stay civilized but squeeze a game like this after now 10 years and show no stopping signs to switch to another game is kinda not great for anyone. Just make a new game like a…

Blow up their capitol and destroy the galactic Economy Slaves in my empire want rights Agree, and give our Robot Comrades full citizenship so they can oppress the slaves 10/'10 would commit galactic genocide again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stellaris. The game where you can save the galaxy, and then enslave them afterwards. I've owned this game since launch, and to play it through its entire journey has been an endless amount of fun. Each game is different. I've created dozens of species, dozens of different governments. It never feels dry or lackluster to me. Sometimes I sit around and don't min-max the galactic council, my economy, my pops, and it honestly feels much more fun to play it organically. The gameplay is so smooth…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anyone who tells you this is a strategy game is a liar. This is a roleplaying game with strategic elements. The fun doesn't come from copy pasting a meta template or clicking your deathstack on the opponents smaller deathstack. It comes from the emergent story telling that this games mechanics allow for.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredible game BUT : DLC price go brrr, it's good and they're not like dlc slop, it's good, well made, content-heavy DLCs. But there are a lot of them, and because they're so content heavy, the base game seems so small without them. It's totally not the case btw, the base game is still really good, the dlcs are just that good, also my reccomendations for said dlcs Machine Age is a must if you like robots, Biogenesis is quite good, do reccomend, Lithoids is seen as bad by a lot of people but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very disappointed with the latest patch. Do the developers even test this at all? Change the ship limit is something you can do, but testing properly isn’t? I have a 20k fleet the largest in the galaxy at this stage of the game. I conquer a pre-space civilization, and within a year it rebels with a fleets with total size 100k almost as strong as the entire galaxy combined. Are you serious, developers?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DLCs are way too overpriced for what they are, you don't even get the full game with the initial purchase. This is absurd. You basically just get a cadaver to play with and that's it. Even mods have better functionality than some of the dlcs. Game itself is wonderful, I love it. It's a cinematic wonder in my opinion when it comes to space exploration and the strategy aspect of space empire building. But a LOT of gameplay improvements and functionalities, such as with Federation usefulness and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a lot of fun. It's one of my favorite empire building games. But as with pretty much any Paradox game the there is a ton of DLC's many of which contain content that should realistically be part of the base game. Additionally, the pricing is very predatory although that's always been the case for Paradox games. Even after all that I still enjoyed the game enough to recommend it to others until today. I can no longer play the game. Even with no mods installed it took two hours of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is currently rated very positive for all time reviews, and mixed for recent reviews. Let me explain what's happening. Game good. Game get update. Update causes loads of lag and very bug-ridden. Fanbase justifiably upset. Mixed reviews. That being said, they have been working on addressing these issues since and the game runs better now. Stellaris has recently hit its 10-year anniversary and with this game getting constant free updates and new content since I think that while I agree…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do not like the current direction of Stellaris. I am going to ignore the DLC practices, the performance issues, the fundamental changes to gameplay, bugs, AI making suboptimal decisions, etc. and specifically focus on the design and balance of the game. This will go over specifically patches 3.14 to 4.3 beta. A player on the Stellaris forums posted "jcb41608 said: Why does this dev team hate Wide as a 4X playstyle so much?" "Zeratoth said: Why does this dev team hate Tall as a 4X playstyle…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its annoying that every time i want to play this game i have to research whether the game is in a terrible state or not beforehand
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to love this game, but I cannot support Paradox's new love of generative AI. It has massive environmental costs, and takes work away from real artists, voice actors, sfx artists, animators, etc. I really hope they reverse this, and I'll delete this review if they do, but I cannot continue to play the game while they're doing this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How about fixing the bugs of existing content before launching even more buggy messes? I can understand some glitches, but there are serious, even game-breaking bugs left in the game, including for content that you're asking extra money for. The game in its current state can't be recommended to others.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When Mythos comes out, of someone pays the inference bill I will make Stellaris run at full speed even heavily modded late game
unlabelledView post →Too many DLC, price too high as a result. Because of the way the DLC is implimented, everytime they add one, the base game becomes less playable. Not worth it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to really enjoy Stellaris, but this has to be the fourth or fifth time they've completely funadmentally redesigned how the game works, and I just couldn't be bothered to relearn the mechanics again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i think i had about enough of your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, you greedy soulless suits just have to squeeze every last cent from your customers dont you? i remember a time when the big evil company in the gaming industry was EA and Ubisoft, now all of you are the same, releasing half baked games and then selling content that should have been in the base game as "DLC" or relying on the amazing modding community to fix your burning garbage for you, absolutely shameless and disgusting, but i cant really blame you…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No game can match the marriage of roleplay elements to strategy elements quite like Stellaris does. You can be anything, and everything, all at once. Its good. Also, the mod scene is great for gooners.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game gives me the same "just one more turn" itch that Civ V used to, except it's not even discrete turns so often I end up wondering how several hours have gone by.
