60 of 121 · most liked firstConcept is interesting, a sort of skyfy Frostpunk where you need to move your colony to keep gathering resources to survive. I liked how research was implemented (it got downgraded) and backstory, but current overal implementation leaves a lot to be desired. - UI is uninformative. Example: there are partks with trees and parks with monuments. First clears air a bit and raise morale, second is for morale only, but it is unclear why should I build second over first. Flight mechanic is a mystery,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I didn't exactly expect this to be the next Frostpunk, it does share a lot of the same DNA. However, in the debate of nature vs nurture, clearly this was not nurtured as well as Frostpunk was. I saw the negative reviews while this was in early access, and I was hopeful that it would have improved itself for 1.0 release. I am disappointed with the result. First issue (small): no hotkeys/shortcuts. The only keybinds were for moving the camera. Everything else, from navigating building…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Updated 16/10 Ive left my original somewhat negative review below, but after a significant developer update today, thought id jump back in and my what a difference a few days makes. Almost all the original issues have been resolved making this a good fun solid game. Wonderful to see that a large amount of work appears to have gone into resolving the initial round of issues. I cant find any major issues at this point now, and have changed my review to recommend and now believe you can play and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Post Full Release Review First off, see all those Early Access reviews? Ignore them, they are all based of when the game first hit early access, and very few people updated them or reviewed since. Now, a year later, the game is out of early access and is much smoother. 2nd, this review was made at the 3.6 hour mark of playing full release, on Normal mode. This was not a complete playthrough, so some of my thoughts may be incorrect. If you are coming into this game fresh, then the game is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a game I feel very conflicted about because there are a lot of things it does right, but many things it does wrong. For instance, some pros and cons of the game are: Pros 1. Is a relatively solid city builder that has the cool factor of being on a floating island. 2. The game mechanics, besides research, are straightforward to understand and utilize. Cons 1. Storms- At the time of early access the game balance around storms is horrible. During play time almost none of the particle…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →another great concept. another failed execution of a concept. abandoned and left to rot on the vine. will be adding the dev to my list of do not buy. so many bugs that keep you from progressing. should of stayed in EA alot longer.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept is intriguing, but the execution is - to simply put - bad. + Concept - UI is clunky - Settings are barely managable - Not enough hotkeys - Huge performance issues while weather effects are on - Can't see when raining, foggy or there's a snowstorm - Meteor showers are way too loud - Music is flat, poorly composed and sometimes straight annoying (I guess this last is very subjective) - Game feels drawout - Lack of statistical data (in a colony survival game) - No charts - Late…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate this game with a passion. DO NOT BUY!! It seems like the Devs have made the cash grab and abandoned it, this game is too difficult and tedious to all hell. You get one part of the base working and another falls apart. I finally got the GD shield to level 3 which required littering the place with dozens of solar panels because if you use power plants all the people choke and die. Once the people stop choking and dying they all starve because I have no room nor power to put down…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok, so let me preface this review by saying that I am only giving it a thumbs up because I want the game to succeed, and it looks like the devs are listening to feedback. For example, there was a patch on day 2 to address a complaint that most people had (not a bug fix, but a mechanic change). There is a foundation for what could be a really fun game, and a different take on the genre; at least I have yet to play anything exactly like it. As others have said, it does give off Frostpunk vibes,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought the game, played for half an hour and refunded it. Isnt worth the money at the moment BUT the game has good potential if developed properly. I enjoyed the story element and the gameplay mechanism. Things that the developers will need to work on will be quite a handful: 1. The game lags- initially I thought my specs were not optimal to play but the specs are clearly within the optimal requirement. So I think it has to do with game instead of incompatible specs. 2. The tutorial and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's really an unfinished game. There are several stats and resources in game that just do nothing. The forum has plenty of posts talking about stuff that doesn't work. It is not a 1.0 version and I would consider it a working Beta at best.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't say that I recommend this game. It's got a really great idea but, the end result is honestly just such a waste of time. This game requires way too much micro-management, and uses way too much of your time. Shield strength and radius have to be manually toggled, making power usage a juggling act. The only resources were, at the time of my playing this, Water and Construction Materials. Construction Materials are used to also power your city with the base power plants. So you're also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It does do enough different to be interesting, but it's also a bit tedious. I like the idea behind it, and it executes as expected. It just didn't draw me in and keep me playing. It is one of those games that I will come back to in the future and give it another shot, but for now I just got too many other games that are more interesting to play. I recommend you check out my video and see if it looks like something you might enjoy before pulling the trigger. https://youtu.be/c47ggliQnTk…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Went through the tutorial, all good. Went to the campaign, losing after 5 minutes without knowing why. The first storm hits and I just lose due to low power. Tried several times doing different things. My opinion: It's unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love survival-themed city-builders... I really do, but Sphere - Flying Cities really falls short of what it could have been! The potential is definitely there though. The devs need to work on the game more and hopefully, not abandon it. Watch me play! https://youtu.be/wVPzS8hMJOo Note that my review has been languishing in my "Drafts" (a.k.a. a notepad) since my playthrough back in the mid of October, and that the game has been patched a few times since. So... yeah, take this with a bit of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a game that's allegedly out of EA it sure has a huge early access feeling. It's buggy, it freezes, the graphics are slow (I can play much heavier games without needing to set the settings to low), the sensitivity is abominable, and it looks overall bleak and poor. Not recommended at all. Got it at a 50% discount and still returned it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a person who loves colony sims I thought this would be a nice experience and for the first hour or two it was. I finished tutorial and normal difficulty in 8 hours, of which the last 4 hours was spent on maximum speed, trying to figure out new traveling nodes and trying to see any kind of information in the way too colourful and information-less map. The map is transparent with very stong colours and you can see the markers on the other side of the planet, making any type of information…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looking for a great city building game with resource management and survival elements? I've got the perfect game for you: The Wandering Village. As for THIS game? Good God it's horrid. Neat concept, horrid execution and zero balancing. The good: -An interesting concept about managing a floating city in a post apocalyptic world. The bad: -Poor balancing for resources. They're used up as fast as you can gain them or faster while trying to maintain your city. -Bugs. Lose the game? Can't start a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*Please note this is an early access review; although I do my best to consider that in my review I have to acknowledge that we, as gamers, are not paid testers and are paying for a game that is incomplete. With that in mind I have to consider the fun factor and value your time over what may come. Even though I did refund this game (I am not a paid reviewer and was not provided a review copy) I would be happy to come back to this game if / when the developers feel the game state has truly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really am enjoying Sphere Flying Cities, it does have tricky tech tree but this keeps searching for things around the map. This being said, the game itself does not hold your hand when it comes to game play. I saw a lot of things on the UI that I didn't know what they were for but there is a tool tip box in the top left corner (button with the ? on it) that explains a lot you just need to click on it and read thru there to understand how or why something is happening, Remember this is an early…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I played for just over 3 hours, had a lot of fun, some frustration but negative review, nah. First of all it is Early Access, that means it has bugs and issues, to fix those we the players who purchase the game are obliged to give constructive feedback, if you not in it for that wait for final release as Early Access is not for you. This game has so much potential to keep me occupied for hours and hours, sure I there are some things I am not happy with, the Tutorial is in the wrong order…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting idea, but poorly implemented. I'm surprised to see that this isn't an Early Access title as I found the instructions in the tutorial "fly to the marked location" impossible to complete as there is no marked location...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Based on the reviews I was rather skeptical, but the many promised/mentioned changes + what you could see convinced me to give it a try. I'm pleasantly surprised that many points from the negative reviews have been adjusted and it feels quite good. The tutorial + interactions are okay and the UI shows you what you need to know at a glance. It's not triple A, but for fans of the genre worth a look. I will continue playing it for now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You build everything you need in the first half hour and then just grind to complete research tree. The story about the broken moon is meh too. Overall a waste of time, and with very little enjoyment.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Intriguing idea and I really wanted to like this game, but I feel it is badly balanced; stretches of easy coasting followed by sudden deaths. Difficulty level can adjust how long stretches and how often a sudden death but not really change the fact. This, plus a saved game failed to load, using up all GPU and not progressing while loading buildings. Did not feel like ready for full release, I am afraid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somehow is so horridly optimized that it uses 100% of a 2080 SUPER There's Early Access then there's unplayable. If I can get CP2077 to 60fps with raytracing, but cant get this past 30, then you shouldn't have released this yet.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite an incredibly difficult skill wall, the game is very cool. I agree with some of the negative reviews here. There is a ton of work yet to be done. But the headline is that the game is incredibly cool. City building. Worker management. All in a super weird post-apocalypse. https://youtu.be/IfNQ-D9XP3U
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Off the bat, I love the concept of this game. And I strongly believe a number of choices made in the game were made in support of the theme the concept brings. There's a sense of isolation and limping through a broken world. If this was the case, my hat off to the effort. BUT... Those same choices make for a plodding game. A frustrating one. Namely, speed. After playing a while and giving it time to find its footing, it would still take 2 minutes and 35 seconds to move from one hex to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a great base but dose need a lot of work.. as of right now there is not much of a story feel to the game that makes me want to keep playing. as the game is updated i will retry it but as for right now it is dose not hold my attention and find my self getting bored after just a hour.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, and while the concept is intriguing and it is possible to have some amount of fun, the execution isn't all that great, there are too many bugs and performance issues. On the lowest settings, and with a desk fan underneath my gaming laptop, the game has crashed my laptop a few times, controls have bounced me from one side of the map to another in an instant, and now the campaign is bugged and I can't finish the game. The advisor lady cannot be completely…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An unfinished game. horrible navigation, no keyboard mapping for build/navigation/science menus. Slow sector to sector travel, and even worse is that the "sector numbering" is horrible. Mission of "go to sector 343" which initially was highlighted, after next game start, the highlight was gone. So bascially a "finishing" expedition trying to find the sector as they are not numbered in sequence. Cut scenes are medicore, voice acting not great, and some repetitive till you get sick of…

That was the day our world changed forever. Our reactions were as dark as science had predicted. Very little was spared from the destruction, no one from the disbelief. The impact of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid game, I havent found bugs or issues during my play-through... but quite short. Finished the campaign and started playing some sandbox on harder settings, but replay-ability is limited as content is narrow and the game is more "mechanical" (unlock this, do this do that...) than immersive, where one would actually care about the city. Pick it up at heavy discount and enjoy it for what it is.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Most popular options. - Run out of top soil, starve. - Run out of energy, die instantly. - Build out of order or to many buildings, go to run out of energy. - Move flying city more than one tile, watch cut scene of city moving, stopping, being told you ran out of energy or there's a storm or something of the sort, move city again, watch cut scene again, uninstall. - Try to harvest resources only to find it doesn't contain the item you need more, lose. Meh.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Completed the campaign in 11 hours and no real interest in sandbox. I enjoyed this game it had a unique setting it's a bit more of a resource manager than a city builder but for the time I played and the super low 80% off price it was worth it. There's a lot of random crashes in fact without auto-mining I wouldn't be able to play it crashed every time I went to the mining screen. The balance is terrible as well. Incredibly difficult in the beginning you'll find yourself micromanaging…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has plenty of potential but I have to say at the moment this is still early access despite the full release status. The campaign takes roughly 5 or 6 hours to complete (after which you're dropped into sandbox mode), there are resources like oxygen which no has no producer and fertiliser which nothing seems to use. Generally the UI is ok but still with issues where for example to disable a building there is no shortcut and you have to open the details page. Maybe if it's £3 and you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Constant crashes and low frame rate make game difficult to play. Mining, construction and repair drones frequently stop working. Game play is basic and the content is pretty limited.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The most intriguing game i recently played!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sphere - Flying Cities is a fresh new concept that will bring enjoyment once you can get passed the learning curve. The game provides a guide but is rather slow and you are always wondering how to progress. Over all the game runs well, has a decent price point and is enjoyable for early access. however I did find it rather annoying that I could not adjust my sound or graphics from with in the game and was forced to restart the game several time till I found a decent setup for my rig. All in all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's no real tutorial, the UI stinks, and you have particle storms screwing everything up within five minutes. I get it, it's early access, but... meh.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At the moment I do not recommend buying this early access game at all. Far too many cons and not nearly enough pros. WAIT a while for some more updates before getting this game. I am glad that other people apparently have the ability to actually survive and grow their city and maybe I am just a complete moron but this game is going to sit in my library for a good while until more updates have been made. So onto the pros and cons of the game PROs: -I love the idea of building a floating city.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cool idea, with bad, grindy, boring execution. PROS + cool idea CONS - too few buildings - the game drags, it is too grindy, and gets boring too quick - balance issues - looks quite bad - whoever though that having 500 jumps (and even just 250 is too much) is a good idea, deserves to be fired ... I wont even 100% this as I dont have another 10h just to click map and watch unskipable unbereably long bad looking animations
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At hour 12 I was still enjoying the game, but shortly after, as I reached maybe 80-90% progression (research/story ; I haven't uncovered half of the map), it started lagging and crashing. There were a few annoying bugs too, like the drone eventually stopped working, but I wasn't using them anyway. Also, from about 8 achievements I'm "missing", 3 I've actually completed, but they don't seem to "register". So "enjoyable", but "need more polish"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While an interesting take on the whole city sim it was not what I expected and in the end not that satisfied. As others have said no hotkeys for any of the UI, I knew it was bad but I didn't know it was this bad. -You can't queue your scout drone or tell your city to mine an area and move on. -I would think basic interactions would be available in hotkeys such as main view and map view. -it's very repetitive to perform the same mouse actions to scout multiple areas in a row -can't copy paste…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's good for what it is - a light city builder sim with uncomplicated management and small production chain, played in a small area, and bundled with a serviceable campaign/story. And a low asking price especially in the sales that's going on now. I had fun while playing it and it was over before it overstayed its welcome. If you're a veteran city building gamer and you expect a lot, this is not going to be it. It's a very easy coasting from beginning to end (on normal difficulty at least).…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →( Date: 2021-12-06 ) Cool idea. "Sci-fi Frostpunk-ish". Gave it a try, But... game feels rough unpolished and far from worth playing. Probably give it a new try later, again to see if any updates have been made to lure me back in for another try. Clearly game is far from finished or polished, I played the game when game was on v.0.1.7
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely a bit rough around the edges - more like an alpha vs beta, that said, if you are OK with dealing with some bugs and not having key shortcuts to commonly used tasks, it's fun and engaging city builder/survival game. Once tech tree gets completed out, and it's polished up it will be a great game, especially if they can incorporate some missions/storyline into the game. Bottom line, probably not for everyone at this stage of development, but definitely one to put on your watch…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm mixed on this game but I think I'll give it a thumbs up for future potential, more than what's currently in the game. I think with some QoL stuff, this game can at least have a pretty decent experience to it's current endgame. Be aware there are bugs in the games current state that I will not go over here in this review as they could change quickly depending on how fast the developers hot fix the game. Pros -Interesting technology tree. I like the use of elements in combinations to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nope not currently it has a Partical event thats always at least +1 over your level of sheilding dmging buildings after the first 10 mins. Ergo you die of being unable to feed your power buildings or your houses get wreked and people dont work the power plants on my 4th try i got about 1hr 30 mins in but resource scarity and unavoidable enviromental events keep killing me.maybe im bad, or it could be my miners bugged out and stopped mining as i left a area with unmined water >>

Guilty. Of being in space! Going to space jail. Are we in space yet? What's the hold-up? Gotta go to space. Gotta go to SPACE.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't recommend this game for a few reasons. 1. It's very basic too basic to really enjoy once you learn how to play the game. 2. The story is mediocre. The moon gets destroyed and you aim to repair it. 3. Loads of bugs. Even some achievements don't unlock when you meet the requirements. 4. Back to the bugs. Some are simply permanent such as you will always have a warning saying your healthcare is insufficient. Also the "best" hospital in the game is meant to have the largest radius, but it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has an interesting concept, but the absurdity of the premise and having so see asteroids and moon chunks floating in the air like clouds in the Earth's atmosphere is so stupid that it makes enjoyment of the game difficult. On top of that, the entire survival mechanic and keeping the population alive is OK, but the way the materials and production chains were setup are very clunky, as are the area of effect for buildings - not enough. But the biggest issue is that the majority of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really boring, no charme, not worth your money or time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →every time the game crashes ... beside this only a few buildings, there should be more for a full release...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had the game wishlisted, was sceptical first due to some bad reviews in early access. But did not regret it, for me it is quite fun to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ENG Description Sphere: Flying Cities is a mix of strategy, simulation and survival game set in a post-apocalyptic science fiction scenario. The moon has been hit by a meteor and bursts into millions of pieces. This causes massive destruction on Earth and the debris darkens the sky. As a last resort, mankind tries to lift the cities above the dust with the help of Anti-Grav. But this does not succeed, almost everything around our city is destroyed, only a small part around the inner core…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This "Game" is more of a glorified tech-demo that's trying to be the next "Frost-punk"it seems. This tech-demo isn't ready for play & should be avoided like V1 Covid. Nice idea but give it about 6 more months of dev time & refinement & it might start looking like a playable game. The random unexpected game-overs & citizens randomly ceasing to give a f**k about there assigned tasks is beyond frustrating. All in all a nice concept but please pull this from steam for about half a year then re…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looks good but the game is terrible to play due to it being riddled in bugs, I can't save my game, the reactors cut out without warning despite having the means to keep them running and some of the things on the tech tree seem too expensive for something that has little to no affect on the city. I enjoy games like Frostpunk and thought this would be just like that, in a way it is, but the only difference is that it holds your hand so hard it cuts off the blood flow and once it's finished it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice game, has possibilities, but play 2-3 hours and u die, very frustrating, am uninstalling to play never again
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a very athmospheric city builder with fresh ideas. The presentation with it's neon-lights and cloud effects is pretty. The tech-tree is already quite large to motivate extended plays and work well with the exploration mechanic. At the beginning some areas are off-limits for your flying city but as you upgrade your shield you can discover new regions. I hope they extend on this in the future and add more surprises for the player. Currently there are some minor bugs, but the…
