Something Ate My Alien is a really odd combination of exploring/digging, alien-shooting platforming, and puzzle solving that also involves that digging mechanic. It's rather slow-paced overall because of the amount of digging that you have to do, so that the overall smallish maps seem rather large. Mixed into this is a high rate of…

Is this game a masterpiece? No, but it certainly is a digger's wet dream! Your mining spaceship has been taken hostage by a space pirate who forces you to deliver him a large amount of minerals. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →something ate my alien is kinda like [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/252410/]steamworld dig, but instead of a sci-fi western setting, the story is about an evil alien pirate capturing your ship (as in you, the ai on the ship), demanding loot, so you have to send your aliens down to various planets to gather resources and free yourself. the gameplay loop is this: teleport to planet, mine minerals and such while killing enemies standing in your way, watch your oxygen, open doors, solve…

Not in a Driller Killer DIY version of Leatherface kind of way, but in an Andrew Ryan "is not a man free to enjoy the fruits of his labours? I only say this to echo that the map is deceptively small looking compared to the amount of time you'll spend exploring it. But in the mean time, I wanted to get a review in, because I really enjoy this game despite a couple negatives. It feels similar to Steamworld Dig 1 & 2, but with more features and goals. The puzzles have been fun,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Substantially padded; minimal content. I've fully cleared two levels so far and I'm pretty sure the only really new stuff I'm going to see in the future is different sprites and different music tracks. This game has nice music and art, the controls work, and the idea is basically sound, but there's just not much to it. You've got four basically identical levels with mildly distinct but not particularly interesting enemies that aren't really the point anyway. On each level, you mine out a huge…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well done guys, it's a fantastic game, great concept, gorgeous graphics so much to see and do as you work your way around. I'm not a gamer and that was proven in the first 5 minutes when my poor little alien ran out of air because I was so slow getting to grips with the controls but great fun and I managed to convince another alien to help me out so I could carry on 😂😂👽. It's on my desktop and I'm sure I will spend many hours trying to get better and not kill my poor little friends too…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is all new thinking, with stunning graphics. A lot work has been put into this, and that one can see directly. The game play is quite cool piloting this little dude around, digging/mining, and discover new things. The puzzles are also a nice feature to the game, having to think a bit as well. It is also a good break from the standard shoot and kill as much as possible. Here you explore, think, and discover things. Super nice game!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Totally addictive, beautifully made digging & puzzle game! If you like digging games, you will love SAMA! I can see myself playing this for hours, completely losing track of time. Stunning worlds, challenging puzzles, and the cute little alien makes me not want to stop - not to mention trying to clear all the blocks and collect everything from each planet! Enjoying it a lot! 5/5
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is a good game i think the puzzle rooms are very good
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game. I have not gotten past my first planet and was not sure at first how much I was going to enjoy it but now that I have played for awhile I am hooked. This game does not have the negative of constantly having to consult a wiki or forum to figure out how to play. It is pretty straightforward.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun at first, this game started feeling a little repetitive and frustrating by the 3rd planet. Even on normal difficulty I seemed to be constantly bombarded by enemies when all I wanted was to finally find the way to the next section / puzzle. I mostly enjoyed the puzzles but I finally got stuck on one only to find there are no proper walkthroughs yet. There are some gameplay videos out there but you'd have to just hope they happen to do the puzzle you need help on. I know a lot of people like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thoroughly enjoying the game - the best mining based game that I have played for a very long time (and I started playing them in the 1980s) - Well executed - interesting game chat channel - and clearly well supported. Visually, the game is very attractive - there are a lot of controls to grasp, when playing via a keyboard on a PC, but the instructions and guides are very clear. When you die (and you probably will) just don't forget to get your next helpful little alien to go pick up all the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a like a less fun version of Steamworld Dig. I didn't finish as apparently the boss fights are really annoying/difficult.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Something KEEPS eating my aliens!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is an interesting blend of resource gathering, upgrading equipment, platforming around and puzzling. The mining mechanics lead to interesting puzzles, and it seems like the maps will last much longer than their sizes would suggest. The gameplay wasn't too stressful, so was great for unwinding and puzzling a bit. Overall, would definitely recommend if you enjoy puzzle games or games where you explore.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to love Dig Dug and Mr Do, they were so much part of my growing up back in the 80s. So when I came across a feature about this new game 'Something Ate My Alien' I was somewhat intrigued. Times have definitely changed but the fun certainly hasn't. Digging? Check. Solving puzzles? Check. Great fun? Double check. The premise is simple: you take charge of a charming little alien and have to explore caverns and dig tunnels to find gems and artifacts that have been demanded by a hijacking…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got recommended this in a random thread somewhere, and it's ended up being one of my favourite games of the year (actual release date irrelevant). There are a few different difficulty modes, including one called explorer which I am playing on, where you can happily whoosh about the map to your hearts content just finding stuff, or if you want things a bit spicier you can add a LOT more challenge. You lose your stuff on death but it stays where you died and you can go back and get it easily…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoying this game! Beautiful artwork and some great puzzles to solve. The soundtrack is also super chill. Would recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game! Playin at normal setting it's a nice mix of exploration with the right edge of danger and challenging but not too hard puzzle solving. Once you get the trick of the bosses, they're not too bad. But I haven't fought the last one yet.... I got stuck in Levantos (that place is confusing) and Ron was very helpful. I'm looking forward to the sequel!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been absolutely loving this game. I have lost hours with out realising while playing! Thoroughly addictive.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is very good i love it:)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Something ate my alien is a brilliant game for all ages with amazing graphics and intuitive controls. The game is "riddled" (pun intended) with challenging puzzles and a variety of enemies from the docile "Strank" to the more aggressive "Draker". The "something" (the boss for each level) has a good variety of different movements and attack patterns making it tricky to kill and an enjoyable way to say goodbye to each planet. I've been playing the game mostly on "normal" mode but I challenge…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm still waiting for something to eat my alien, but in the meanwhile I'm enjoying one of the best guns in gaming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZhH8RLo7xM Watch my video to see gameplay for yourself, but if you've already played SteamWorld Dig then you know the drill. Your goal is to dig for resources, put things together, dig some more, and enjoying the ongoing exploration. The highlight to me is that SAMA's gun is always satisfying to use. Oh, and the jetpack works great too in case you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Your air is running out and Something is lurking in the shadows. Hand painted 2D side scrolling puzzle solving, mining and collecting goodness are awaiting you in SAMA! You are tasked with collecting materials and scouting for objects as you are forced to do the bidding of another for their own benefit. This involves running around, jet packing, shooting, and lots and lots of mining of materials. Each planet has a unique look and is dispersed with an assortment of teleport spots, puzzles, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a lot to love about this game, sound, graphics and gameplay are excellent. My only concern is that it gets quite boring after a few hours, the story needs more depth. Well worth sinking a few relaxing hours into though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is unique in it's own way and it's great. A fun chill exploration game. Good job on it. I have a single issue. The mini map does not work at all for me. It's all grouped in the center and is not even viewable (all i see is numbers)? Not sure if it's because of my resolution or not, but it doesn't do anything. It's not a game breaking so not a big deal. Game updated today and the mini map is still not fixed. Shame. Oh well, on the to the next game I guess.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quirky, fun and addictive game! Few hours in and already finding it hard to pull myself away from the game , straight forward controls and fun puzzles are brilliant . Looking forward to jumping back into outer space with my little aliens and continue the tasks at hand! 2 thumbs up!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game to play. Great game play with excellent graphics. Looking forward to spending hours playing though this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a fan of Steamworld Dig, then this game is a no-brainer. It has more combat and way more puzzles and both are a good thing. While the art and polish are a little less refined than Steamworld Dig's, Image & Form games has like 20 people, while Rokabium games are 2 people (as far as I know). It's a great feat to create such a charming and satisfying game with such a small crew. And considering the lack of "gathering" games on steam (read: gathering/mining for the sake of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It could use more variety in terms of level layouts, puzzles and bosses and it's not particularly comfy couch friendly due to small text sizes and cumbersome controller support (I'd recommend switching to twin stick in the options), but if you love games like the Steamworld Dig series, this might still be worth a playthrough. Be careful with the difficulty selection though, because enemies spawn frequently.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great, fun game for the price. You have to like digging games and collecting. Puzzles are of varying difficulty but all soluable. Only two really had me head scratching for a while but a bit of thought and experimentation and I eventually solved them. Great controls, nice ability progression. For a game written by just one person I'm amazed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such a cool game! For somebody who doesn't play much it is easy to get into and not knowing what's coming creates a nervous feeling with almost a sense of butterflies in your stomach! The artistry work in the game is really effective and engaging. So far I really find the game very addictive and exciting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished the first planet and I'm hooked =) The game starts at a nice calm pace with excellent tutorials/game hints etc then the gradually the pace quickens then all of the sudden you are in the middle of a gunfight with monsters everywhere, no oxygen, no health and lots of alarms are going off and then you will most probably die! I really like it and the puzzles are a nice bit of calm in the storm. They can take me ages and there is regularly the 'doh' moment at the last moment when…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A combination of exploration/digging with puzzle solving and some shooting. The puzzles can get challenging as you progress and the fights can be really difficult. But overall is a very enjoyable and kinda relaxing game. (English isn't my mother language so I am sorry for any mistake I've made) P.D: Works fine on Linux in case you are a Linux gamer
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the artwork and the challenges I'm going to have to work out here. I can't believe it's developed by 2 people! Amazing!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a nice little shooter puzzle game. It combines all my favorite elements of a game without being too much. It's not a long game, but it doesn't try to stretch it to make it longer like some games do that makes it not as fun. I like to sit and relax after work with the game. The puzzles are the right amount of difficult with some harder and some easier.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →End game was a little hard. 8/10. Would rage again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a lovely day to die?!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a decent mining game, in a similar vein to SteamWorld Dig, although it feels overall less polished. There's a decent amount of content, the music is relaxing and it has a good mix of enemies. There are 4 worlds, and on each there are 10 puzzles hidden within the depths, which get difficult pretty quickly. Death can feel very unfair; enemies rolling into you from offscreen, or falling on your head, or being able to pass straight through the blocks. The whole 'ransom' thing ('story') is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In this video I take a look at Something Ate My Alien, a self proclaimed 2D puzzle and dig'em up adventure game. Something Ate My Alien is like a cross between Boulderdash, Terraria, and space invaders. Your mining vessel full of gem finding aliens has been hijacked and unless you use your aliens to find the items your captor wants you wont be sent on your way. One alien at time you get to explore and dig below the surface of the planets making sure not to run out of oxygen or get killed by…
