60 of 104 · most liked firstI like the idea, the art direction and the gorgeous variety in visuals and animations that this has. But for me, it doesn't feel like I'm getting better at the game — rather, I'm learning to beat this specific level in every stage. The obstacles come at me so quickly and new mechanics are so abrupt that you can only progress by rote memorization — even while you get a bit better at movement or shooting, mostly you just die and then take a different turn or shoot somewhere in advance. It's very…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Retro platform shooter + fast + rides = Remember that movie Die Hard? Well, this is Die Damn Easy. Thankfully there are infinite lives and you respawn at checkpoints. Feels like some Matrix scenes. Follow our curator for similar games https://store.steampowered.com/curator/35180752-3-point-play/
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Take Everything you know about Fast-Paced gaming and throw it right out the window, because this game rewrites the definition.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Immensely difficult which I wouldnt mind, if there werent so few checkpoints being in the game. Hence forcing you to not have fun, but to memorise the map so that you can pass the level. Hope to get a refund on this ♥♥♥♥
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've never been to the arcade, but as a kid I played a lot of flash and retro games. This game scratches that nostalgia itch. Its fast paced, brutal and unforgiving, but it's really fun. Game starts while you are sitting on a train and all of a sudden you're running away from SWAT with a gun. After just 2 levels you jump into a car and after that you change a few more vehicles, it is constantly changing. Train and motorcycle levels reminded me of John Wick and for me they were the most…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/6yleHwGUMdE Heavily reliant on memorization to make it through each phase of the level is less rewarding than a more dynamic experience would provide.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To start this game has it's quirks that you must learn. Some levels will piss you off beyond belief, however this game is addictive. Every death makes you feel a burning sensation to keep going and tell the enemies to eat ♥♥♥♥. I see this game having a very solid speed run scene eventually, it's built into the core of the gameplay. Only had one issue through my whole play through. It is a pain in the ass to control the motorcycle, even barely tapping the stick will send you entirely across…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1/3 skill, 1/3 memorization, 1/3 luck. Looks better than it plays.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool idea, this game has a chance to evoke nostalgia, but, unfortunately, the idea is vastly degraded by implementation — playing "Speed Limit" feels like a chore to me: too much memorization is old school design, but it does not help to enjoy the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The horrible control scheme during the 3rd level (car stage) made me drop the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It took me almost 50 minutes to complete one try in normal mode, the hardest difficulty, although it may be because I played the demo (which you can still try) a few months before. The premise of the game is pretty fun, running away from seems to be the whole government forces in the style of an action movie. The gameplay is actually quite simple and arcadey, but you will die a lot in your first try similar to playing Cuphead or Hotline Miami. I thought the premise of the specific stages that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Speed Limit is wicked fun. It would be nice if there were a few more levels but what's there is top notch. Looooove the sweet retro art and the music gets your heart pumping before the action even starts. And then it gets intense. Speed junkies, get your fill. Short but intense genre-hopper that will have you running, shooting, trainsurfing, driving, riding and flying as you strive to survive and then dominate. Guaranteed to get your adrenaline pumping! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Speed Limit is a game with a lot of things going on built on the back of a good idea. The idea of a non-stop action movie that constantly changes genre and gameplay style sounds like fun. The unfortunate reality is that while it is true that the set pieces change quickly and there is a good variety, the game doesn't play very well. The first ~3 stages are the ones that feel the best to play, whereas all the ones after that feel off. The movement is either too fast or too slow and often you'll…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Visually and conceptually the game is amazing. What I disliked... -Button mashing incentivized -aim and move with same input, I vastly prefer twin stick -camera whipping back and forth everytime you turn left or right to shoot behind you -when the car section begins it does enable twin stick, but it is locked to 45* increments.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fast-paced shoot 'em up with gimps trying to kill you... Wait.. Ooooh... They're SAS! That makes much more sense!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →John Wick vs. arcade era.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game reminded me of various games I played as a child. Speed Limit offers various types of actions, so everyone will find at least a few for themselves to enjoy. For me, the game gets better after the first two levels. I'm not a fan of pixel art, but it's made great. It would be wonderful if I had such perfect music in games as a kid. Speed is not my virtue but I managed to win on easy :) Buy it! Buy it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great idea! Love the ever increasing tempo, and the constantly changing challenge. This is like a 101 of the best arcade games. A real treat, and a blast to the past. Reminds me of so many great games and all the times I've spend at the arcades. :-)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OMG this is brain crack and yet that spy wagon is hilarious!!! O_O
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the only Steam games I've ever refunded. I think a lot of the problem is that this game isn't at all what it claims to be. The game constantly mentions that it is an "arcade-style" experience, but it's definitely not. If this was a real arcade game people would put 1-2 quarters max and then walk away and say "this game sucks". The backbone of the arcade experience is tied to high scores. Arcade-style games give you many opportunities to earn points, and as you get better you'll find…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVED this game. I finished the first run just now (on Arcade difficulty) and I was grinning the whole time. I will give 2 advice for people who are playing this game: #1: If you are playing this game for 1st time, Play it on Arcade difficulty. It will give you full flavour of the game without being tedious. Once you finish it once then you may decide to play it on other difficulties and you will be prepared for upcoming challenges. #2: Use a controller. There are sections which need Twin…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super intensive, fast-paced action game that brings back the feeling of retro action games like Spy Hunter. Awesome!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good fun for a little while. Moderate challenge. Graphics are pure nostalgia. Takes me back to my early PC days. Love it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good! Two big paws up! yes!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A blast from the past, with style. One moment, you are in "Contra" just to be switched to "Spy Hunter" and then all of the sudden you are in "Zaxxon" with a taste of "Jungle Strike". It is a ride through the memories, but don't think this is just a dose of retro for senior gamers. Speed Limit is modern and dynamic, constantly making you question what the next level is going to be and how are you going to play. It comes with a ton of design wit and some really nice pixel art graphics. Audio…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know who I am. I don't know why I'm here. All I know is that I must kill.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Speed Limit is a fun arcade action game, where the perspective of the gameplay and the gameplay style itself changes every 2 levels. It's framed as what is essentially a non-stop action movie setpiece, where if you die, then the footage is rewound, and you are placed at the last checkpoint. The controls for each gameplay style are very responsive, and the different gameplay styles are all fun to play. I think the Pseudo-3D motorcycle sections are my favorite, because of the sense of speed, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend this game if you're a masochist and don't mind dying hundreds of times. It's non-stop action, and it's so fast that you often can't anticipate what's about to kill you, so it becomes a memorization/pattern recognition game. I played it last night on my arcade cabinet below. https://youtu.be/JaatUWiSkrM
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unforgiving action of a bygone era combined with slick modern 2D visuals
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fresh little action arcade game with some unique ideas. Unfortunately a bit too short.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10/10 would die over and over again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Speed Limit is a solid fast-paced retro-arcade game. The controls feel responsive, it's smooth, it's well put together, and doesn't overstay it's welcome. It's not a very long game, but if you're interested in running it and going for the achievements you'll get plenty of time for your money. If you're the type to just play a game once then never touch it again, it may not be for you. Either way, there's a demo, and the demo is representative of the whole game - I think it's at least worth…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I received a copy of Speed Limit from the developer through my curator page. An arcade button masher of the finest (?) tradition, Speed Limit is about a morning commute gone terribly wrong. You must help a random dude in a white tee fight his way through increasingly rediculous levels of police brutality: swat teams, government agents, minigun-equipped pickup trucks, attack choppers, fighter jets and more. Between levels Speed Limit likes to switch perspectives. Side-scroller From Contra to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've only played for a little bit, but I can already tell this game delivers on its promise of arcade action. It's a good mix of unforgiving encounters and frequent checkpoints, providing challenge without frustration. It's not Hotline Miami in that way, it aims more to make you feel like you're having fun than being challenged. Each of its modes are totally distinct from one another, drawing on various inspirations each. The platforming bits feel Metal Slug like, though with just a trusty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its just not fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →what a weird game, it just forces you through it, button mash, go forward, die, continue, it feels like there is not skill and being push through it, unless its because i have just been playing ghousl and ghost remastered on here but its feels like infinite enemys and button mash, not good for me
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A seamless, multi-genre pixel art chase sequence designed to be played through in a single sitting -- it starts as a side-scrolling run and gun, but cinematic transitions jump vehicles and genres (vertical shooter, isometric helicopter gunship game, rear-view race game etc.). It's a fantastic concept with great art and a clever story arc. Memorizing patterns is part and parcel of the old-school games this is paying homage to, but rare in my experience was it to this degree, because mostly what…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really short but definitely worth the price (got it on sale for $2.50). Super fun and definitely feels like it'd be a lot of fun to replay, though I only just completed it for the first time. Decently difficult game, but there aren't any random elements i dont think so you can just learn the pattern/attacks for anything thats too hard to do blind. Only one boss at the end but its a pretty fun boss fight and wasn't overly frustrating. Played it on normal mode (only easy and normal available,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Everything just feels like crap not gonna lie. The developers wanted to create a 90s movie, not an interesting game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally bought it after the update, and spend most of the time in Neon and easy mode. Love the music and the fast paced action, hopefully the easy mode will be easy enough for me to finish it :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are bubbles, this game is for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Difficult game that reminds me of Flash game but with a budget. its good but not rewarding thankfully its short. I had a fun time getting frustrated but I couldn't recommend this if your looking for a fun time this isn't a fun game. Buy on sale.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game was AMEZING buy it it worth every dollar!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, it really lives up to its name! You feel like an action hero while playing this with amazing animaton, art style and music to match. I can guarantee that you will never be bored while playing because you are constantly on the edge of your seat with levels taking wild turns and gameplay changes. Speed Limit also helps you with checkpoints every few moments so you (hopefully) wont be frustrated when you die. The game becomes more fun when you learn all enemy patterns and obstacles…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We'll just cut to the chase. Speed Limit is a gorgeous Run and Gun arcade game that's both insanely fun and quite challenging. The game itself is pretty standard for games of this genre. What sets it apart from anything else that compares to it is its stunning visuals. The visual presentation is so amazing here I'd argue it's probably the best looking indie game you'll see in 2021 period. It's not all visuals for this game either, although I'd describe it as pretty standard, the gameplay is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is brutal, but feels very fair in a really fun way, with a constant sense of escalation, and good checkpointing and quick meatboy-esque restarts. If you like a challenge that's fair and rewarding with quick loops to perfect a sequence, this game has that in spades.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played the Speed Limit demo during the festival, liked the style and gameplay, so decided to pick it up. Amazing fun so far, go Gamechuck! 🚳🚀
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is amazing it changes between different styles of gameplay and its a really enjoyable and replayable game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Speed Limit is an action movie turned video game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fuog0AZ_Tyo If you want to see my first impressions as they happened, go ahead and watch my video. Speed Limit breaks the speed limit by riding a perfect line between difficulty and enthralling gameplay. On paper, you wouldn't think the constant genre shifts would work for anything besides Battletoads. But that's not really what this is: Speed Limit is an action movie where you're the star. You're Jason Bourne.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've never cursed so much in a single minute.. This game is FUNstrating.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, and Vin Diesel made an indie game, this would be it! Fast action from all kinds of angles, with wonderful pixel-art and attention to detail, this is a game you should not miss. Check out my full review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1Q5czJKXhE
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. An ode to movies, music and games of the eighties. The game is great so good on so many levels. Every true gamer must have it in their collection.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty cool arcade game, non stop action with a great art direction and tight gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All damage is lethal in HMD, instead players make Life & Death Moves and the results of these ratchet up the tension of the game. For instance Life Moves can result in a higher Speed Limit, which is the target number to hit for a successful roll, making it more likely all players fail rolls.
unlabelledView post →This game would be awesome if it were easier. Ok, it is an arcade-style runner where 1 hit can kill you, but the controls are just clunky as you don't aim with the mouse but with the arrow keys. Still, it is a great experience when you manage to get familiar with the control scheme
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game, it seems like something I should enjoy but I just don't. I get what it's trying to do and it just feels kind of tedious rather than action packed for me. I have started this game up a bunch of times and it just fails to grab my attention. If you do buy this and you like the side scrolling shooter stuff you should buy Elevator Action instead. I recommend it because it seems to be well made. it's just not for me.
