60 of 165 · most liked firstNOTE: This was provided to me for free for review purposes Overview Sparkle ZERO is the last iteration of the Sparkle series, of which I was pretty fond of. Being able to play as a tiny celular being and seeing it grow and develop, hunt and learn was a great concept, and the game was well developed, with beautiful visuals, interesting evolution options, great soundtrack, etc. Unfortunately, the ZERO is both a token of "we are running out of ideas to rebrand this series, this'll do the trick"…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Very nice evolution mechanics. It was fun to play. But better than all, The best thing about this game is Joanna. Will you marry me? haha
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not so good like part 2, but a short little collecting game where you can use your trains to hunt enemies, try to time vs good defenses or just collecting items as fast as possible. Very short game but i am happy its done to Steam and show the Evolution from part 0/1 to 2. Even a developer needs to start with small steps. Sure there could be more enemies, more things to collect/ find (easter egg enemies like in 2), more achievements like beat 10,50,100 of the small enemies, 10,25, 50 of this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anyone being used to Sparkle knows that you need to eat nutriments so that your little sparkle can grow into a powerful organism that can be herbivore, carnivore or omnivore. So, you were used to the green, blue or red elements floating, with medusaes to eat or any other species wanting to challenge you. Besides, some levels were huge as you needed to use vortex to reach another level. That's Sparkle 2 Evo and Sparkle 3 Genesis. Erase everything you've learned because Sparkle ZERO, despite…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basic Information Title: Sparkle Zero Developer: MMEU Publisher: Forever Entertainment S.A. Genre: Abstract Simulation General Impression Players that have tried in the past any game from the Sparkle series, already know that the games mimic an abstract form of the evolutionary ladder regarding microorganisms. It is an interesting approach that still doesn’t feel forced or boring. An yet with Sparkle ZERO, we now have a trilogy that can’t really seem to diversify too much. It has soothing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →'Sparkle ZERO' is a casual game. A controller is recommended to play this game but not absolutely necessary. You control a sea-dwelling creature called a sparkle. The only thing you need to do is swim around and eat everything you can. The more you eat, the larger your sparkle becomes. When you reach the maximum size (level 50), the game ends. Your sparkle will look different depending on the type of food you eat the most. Unlike the other Sparkle games, there is no color to differentiate the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros and cons huh Pros - You can eat things - Great visuals - Relaxing music - Has cards - Ez Achievements Cons - You CAN'T be eaten by things (i really tried to) - Stupid AI - Short (~1h) - After 1h it becomes extremly boring - No multiplayer (would be cool if you could do everything you do in a single player, but with friends) - If you are playing the game for the first time it might seem a little confusing, because there's no tutorial (Pro tip: press "R" to enter the vortex) To play once…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a really good game. If you want something calm and peaceful this right here is the game for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sparkle ZERO is simple and casual game. All you have to do is eat everything else but yourself and you get bigger and stronger. After playing this game for a while I found it boring and pointless because there was no challenge (you are invincible) and just no thrill at all. PROS Visuals. Game looks visually awesome and smooth. Design very nice and I have nothing bad to say on that, everything done perfectly. Sounds. Sparkle ZERO is relaxing game and sounds helps to make that feeling.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good (kinda) mindless fun in small doses. Eat food, grow bigger, & repeat. Eat other fishes/ sparkles (??) & turn them into food too. Took me just under 2hrs to collect all 11 achievements & get the 3 trading cards. Only cost 49c during a 90% Off sale, so i'd consider it pretty good value for that amount of change. $4.99 which is full price, i'm not too sure about. I'd recomend waiting for the sale personally.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I reviewed Sparkle 2 and Sparkle 3, so I may as well review Sparkle, um, 0. I'm not sure if this is meant as a reboot or maybe a tribute to Ringu, but for whatever reason, the new Sparkle game has a lower number. Pedantic musings aside, I really liked Sparkle 2, and reviewed it as the best jellyfish eating simulator available. The Sparkle games have held that title since Pac-Man, even though when asked if the creatures in Pac-Man were jellyfish, Toru Iwatani replied “I’m surprised that you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lifeless "game". There is a reason why you can't buy it anymore.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting game You basically evolve your little creature to a bigger one by eating these shiny things floating around. I imagine this is the micro level of life and your like a little celled amoeba or something. Anyways, the game is kinda fun, and very easy to get all achievements for it without much difficulty. There is a ending bug that seems to mess up the game after you beat it, but that is only bug i found. Recommended you play this game with a controller. Anyways, the game is relaxing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do not know why I like this series so much. It's not even my favorite type of games. But every time I play Sparkle, I feel relaxed. And this is something that often can not be found in many, even more expensive and more complicated games. Good job! Definitely recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The 3rd installment was done by completely different devs. It is a downgrade in every regard. The colorful designs are replaced by boring blue & white filter. The insect-like designs are replaced by transparent amoeba. The previous games were already very casual, but this one is the most casual of them all. Gameplay is boring and returns to the sins of the 1st game, where you just collect resources. There are no threats or death. Because everything and everyone is the same color, it all…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too casual and boring game. Cannot be recommended. The only good thing is that you can get all the achievements in a couple of hours.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sparkle 2 was good, and pretty relaxing - great game. Sparkle 3 was a bit frustrating, but had some complexity and felt like a step forward. Sparkle ZERO sucks. It really is a zero. There is a new developer (Forever Entertainment - guys who make cheap, simple and boring games) and it's just another one of their games. It's buggy, frustrating and boring at the same time. It feels like a prototype of a game. Don't buy, even if you're a fan of the series.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is clunky and repetitive but overall its fun if you get it cheap.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and colourful and the art style is good. The game is repeatative and there is not much gameplay mechanics though but I still enjoyed 2-3 hours playing it. :) Buy it on sales :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok, now they're not even trying. I'm not going to give a formal review with this one since it doesn't deserve it. Sparkle Zero is the third installment of the Sparkle series made by Forever Entertainment. Oh, it's definitely a Zero, that's for sure. The problem here is that this game isn't even a knockoff, it's a blatant ripoff of flOw. I don't need to go into specific details, it is literally copying flOw word for word. It even copies flOw's visual style of white lines and circles. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The winner of the award "Best game without a tutorial in 2016" What to do? Where to go? What is this shiny cubes? Oh, I can eat them, nice! Hello, another player eating my cubes, do you want to greet me? Damn, I ate him :( Ok, this all food is mine now! Damn, its over, what to do now? Oh, hello blue cyrcles, why nothing happens when I stepped into you? As a result - empty map, no targets, no point to play, dont know what to do
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sparkle Zero is a step backward in this genre, there are no missions at all, no tutorial or evolution statistic (unlike its predecessors), Worse graphic and awful sounds, no cool music like sparkle 2 and 3 It's not worth 4 bucks, take Sparkle 2 instead
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All you do in this game is staring at this cell thingy that looks like the devil's face and squirming around in a sparkly void in order to grow longer. There is no real objective, and the game gets dull very fast. No enemies. Not much action. Almost fell asleep because of the calming music too. I don't recommend this game for $5 however I recommend you to checkout the other sparkle games by Forever Entertainment, they have much more action and objective with an evolution feel where you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Big fan of the whole Sparkle series, scooped this one up with a coupon. Takes about an hour to beat the whole game if you've played Sparkle before--I ended up leaving the game running another hour to harvest the bonus trading cards. It's minimalist on the details and gameplay, but very relaxing for the eyes and ears. This installment does not have the option to customize the evolution of your sparkle's DNA like in Evo and Genisis. 6.5/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow! Very good game. Music is so relaxing. Very nice and beautifull evolution mechanics. The game is very simple. We are a small creature, we eat sparks and grow. I'm a huge fan of the Sparkle series and I recommend this game to anyone!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This reminds me of fLow. A nice casual game drifting in water. I like that this game has several levels and the character's form changes as you play and its form can take different shapes. It did not take me long to beat it and I wish it was longer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worst Sparkle yet. Buggy, super annoying spike enemies, and extremely short. Or at least I think it was short, what seemed like it could have been an ending just gave me some text and stuck on a white screen. Sparkle 2 was fun. Sparkle 3 was frustrating Sparkle Zero is not even a finished game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Sparkle ZERO is a game about the evolution of different organisms, fighting for their food and fleeing from stronger creatures. You begin as a very small something with the ability to eat cells. Each time you collect enough pieces of food you will evolve, becoming bigger and getting a random look. And once you reach specific levels a wormhole opens, leading to another stage with more organisms and other types of creatures. I played the game after a long day at work and I really enjoyed the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR Cons outweigh the Pros, while the game is fun for a minute or two it's ultimately bland and not worth the money. Sorry devs. Time to give this a real review, now that I've beaten the game. I'll start with the pros; - Simple gameplay - Nice atmosphere/ beautiful graphics - Eat ****, get bigger; really fun to watch Now the cons....so many cons..... - No tutorial, not even a simple menu to show basic commands. Took me 5 minutes trying to get through my first portal before I gave up and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tldr 1.) Thumbs UP because it doesn't suck outright and I like the Sparkle franchise. 2.) Don't buy this game for full price. 3.) Easy and fast 100% achis. Very simple, very short. If you like driving around and eating everything you come across as a single player game, this game might be for you. Controls literally (and entirely) consist of "hold left mouse button and steer" with occasional attempts to find a way through annoying indesctuctible items. I can't imagine why they made it…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sparkle ZERO GAMEPLAY This game sucks. All you do is swim around and eat things. Once you've eaten enough, you win and the game just ends. That's it. And I mean it ENDS. The screen goes white and just stays that way. No credits, no main menu, no nothing. I pushed every button and waited like 5 minutes but nothing happened. The game just quietly crashed or something. I don't think they expected anybody to actually beat this. Which is weird because I'm pretty sure you can't die. I think I took…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you aren't familiar with this series. It consists of 3 games and this one is the last installment. I'm really not sure why they named this one "Zero" and the first game "Sparkle 2 Evo" like do these people not know how to count? Way to confuse new players. Anyways lets get to the game itself. Sparkle Zero is absolutely a terrible game. It has good things about it. But its just not enough to justify the bad. Its nowhere near great like the first two games in the series. This one just looks…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well we had issues with Sparkle Genesis and it seemed instead of addressing them they kind of went of script with this one. I enjoyed Genesis even though they changed some of the things that would of been better off the way they were, but i accepted it and i enjoyed it even, but with Zero it seems like they ran out of ideas or they weren't sure where to go with this one. Let's start of by saying that the game is quite short compared to the previous one, as in very short, the achievements can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked it. It's a really easy and short, relaxing game. It is very pretty, as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An extremely casual and easy action game. Also, boring. The good: + Good quality visuals & audio + Easy gameplay even for someone who isn't into action games + 11 easy achievements in less than 2 hours The bad: - Almost no variety in the gameplay at all, it becomes quite boring even during the <2 hours it takes to finish the game. The most basic task of the gameplay is gobbling up stationary floating cubes... one by one, dozens of them on each level. Such fun... - Small field of view and the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Comparing to Sparkle 3 Genesis (and even Sparkle 2 Evo) this game is a step back. Despite of all drawbacks, Sparkle 3 was interesting to play. It had goals and progress. This game feels rather pointles and boring with minimized variety of what to do in game. Graphic looks like random fractals. I mean, not like specially modeled but like randomly generated orderless staff. There is same blue design for all following levels (devs said so on forum). Without even bits of scenery levels feel…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →simplified gameplay, left 4 types of enemy - turned game in a monotonous routine, the monotony of the same as the colors gamma of the game. It's just a step back in a Sparkle series games
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's like Spore but better
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Think of this as a piece of interactive fractal art rather than a game, and the controller/mouse as a paint brush. The way you interact with the surroundings determines the way your creature/organism looks. It's a beautiful little game, ideal for those who just want something casual to relax to coupled with stunning visual and sound. There are no real goals, just different ways to create different creature forms.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well it's an ok game. Sparkle 2 Evo is much better, even 3 is. This one's short and easy, more of a grinder without any possibility of taking action in evolution of your sparkle. I got it for 0.99 €, wouldn't recommend to pay more.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game where you are supposed to eat smaller things to become bigger and then being able to eat even bigger things. Personally I found it extremely boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You swim, you eat everything, you grow, you get all the achievements, you just spent 90 minutes of relaxed gameplay, you let the game running to get remaining cards to drop. The end. Recommended only if on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →More like Sparkle ZERO/10 It just doesn't have any content or game-play, try Sparkle 2 or 3 instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Sparkle series has generally been kind of okay for indie shovelware, being essentially the first part of Spore, and let's face it, Spore went downhill after the first part anyway. The problem here is the developer kind of ripped out most of the gameplay, decided they would be "deep and edgy" by removing the tutorial too, so the whole thing makes absolutely zero sense, which I suppose is why they called it Sparkle Zero. Let this be a lesson to all devs... don't go backwards. I can't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sparkle ZERO Pros: + Achievements & Perfect Game + Enjoyed the Visuals and Sounds Cons: - Short - No Replayability Value - Repetitive - Overpriced Review Sparkle ZERO is a game where you start off as a small organism, eat a bunch of smaller things, and become the biggest organism. I enjoy these types of games, but Sparkle ZERO was lacking. There's a small variety of other organisms, but not enough to be that fascinating. All you do is go around and eat small orbs until you get big…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game (and the whole Sparkle series) is just garbage. I mean, sure, if you enjoy moving a blob around the screen bumping into other blobs and making them disappear, while occasionally your blob will get bigger (all with no instructions), then this is the game for you. Otherwise: avoid, avoid, avoid, avoid. I picked this up as part of one of those $1 for 20 games just for the cards (i.e. to make more money than I spent), and I *still* feel ripped off.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sparkle ZERO is more simplistic than the other Sparkle games. But that's to be expected with it being ZERO. It's still a fun, relaxing, basic game. Easy 100% 7/10 Microorganisms
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Maybe the other games in this series are good, but this one isn't. You are an organism floating through some sort of tech sea. The game, if it can be called that, is similar to pac man if pac man had no walls, no enemy ghosts, no fruit powerups.... really just a mouth and dots. Pros: - Pleasant sound and music - The art is interesting for what it is - Control is easy to figure out and works as you would expect - Achievements and cards I guess Cons: - short - easy - boring - there is no way…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →recommend this? hell no! i've finished the game and got all achievements in exactly 70 minutes. i need to spent some afk time to get the last trading cards but 70 minutes is all i got out of the game. if you own sparkle evo and / or sparkle genesis already then there is absolutely no reason to pick this one up. it's a huge step back in every respect. if you don't own or know the sparkle games then pick up sparkle evo or sparkle genesis. they are way better than this one. sparkle zero is a big…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is actually a fun and enjoyable game definitly worth getting
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was a lot of fun. I played for about 2 hours over the past few days. I enjoyed the ambient music that came with the gameplay. It was pretty simple to play, just point and click mostly. I had to look at the game guide to figure out the R button sends you through a portal. I got the game via a 90% off coupon that came with a trade resulting in a 50 cent game for me. Well worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's more of an experience than a game. The whole feel of moving a microbe-sized object around and eating other objects to grow is interesting, but the concept isn't fully fleshed out and there's no actual challenge. Your only goal is to reach level fifty, at which point the game will remark that "You're the biggest sparkle" and fade the screen to white for no reason. There aren't a lot of other things to eat other than jellyfish, which seem to be the best source of sparkle food. As you eat,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am really glad I came back and revisited this one. Its a very unique game and I have only played one other like it not from the Sparkle series. The music is more mellow and atmospheric than the others in the series. ZERO has a mono chromo twist and is more focused on an immersive solo gameplay experience. You start off as a single cell and float around some sort of medium eating up other things that are floating around until you grow bigger. You move on into a higher dimension and eat bigger…
