The demo that I played of this game quite a while ago seemed like a good start. Unfortunately the full version seems like they didn't get very far past the demo, and it lacks the substance and balance it needs to be a good game. I played for about an hour and the promise that the game seemed to have in the demo just wasn't there anymore, and it wasn't really any fun to play. A big issue is that the game mechanics are pretty rudimentary and are not balanced well. One of the best examples of…

Very fun game, works at launch, extremely stylish, resource management where the people and yourself are resources in a way that's reminiscent of Darkest Dungeon. Been looking for a scifi game where you aren't a space cop/soldier and this is refreshing. Social elements are light so far but still interesting, makes relationships more about trying to get more minions and reputation than actually getting to know the characters and their stories. Which could be unsatisfying but feels very in line…

Man this one hurts. I wanted to love this one so badly. I’m going to preface this review with this – yes, I have an hour played, but I only have two hours to see if I like a game and I just don’t want to lose that window. Also, and this is important, the game is very competently made. It works phenomenally, no crashes, no bugs, just a functional game. If the reason I don’t like it sound like fun to you, please buy it. These people deserve the money. I’ll start by saying that the game is…

RANKING: AVOID | FLAWED | MAYBE | WORTHWHILE | COMPELLING | UNMISSABLE SYNOPSIS: ASSESSMENT: Space Prison delivers a familiar blend of adventure, RPG and turn-based tactical combat. Successfully capturing the distinct character of its sci-fi setting. Its filled with plenty of activities. The joy of exploring the space station cannot be overstated. Inventory and crafting are extensive. TBT combat may lack sophistication, but party setup is thought-provoking. There are bugs. More…

This isn't a bad game really, but it just doesn't quite hook me. The overall design is fine for a casual game but there are two main issues that prevent me from enjoying it. The first, and lesser issue, is that combat is a bit too simple for my taste. There isn't much to it strategically. It's fine for a casual game, and if this was my only issue, I'd probably keep playing to at least finish one playthrough and give it a thumbs up. The bigger problem for me is the inventory system. A lot of…

Game is fun at first but as other reviews have said, quickly becomes repetitive with arbritary tasks to try and boost difficulty. I about lost it at the 'get a hacking chip 2.0' thing for the charge a battery quest. far too often did you show up at a place, certain you have all the tools you need to discover you need some specific thing and to get that specific thing you have to do who knows what. not sure where refined scrap comes from but i hate it. aesthetic was on point tho and i liked…

The combat feels unfinished grenades don't explode, weapons still show as your character using their fists WTF?!?! Knives when thrown just involve an animation where the player points their finger. When combat is half your game atleast try to make it better than just this basic sh!t! Audio has 0 effect during combat again WTF?!?! Sometimes the game bugs out and you can't speak to NPCs or go back to a room from the map. Very short game but a great premise, falls off after starting with great…

I recommend this only with some caveats. On the plus side: the art is really good. The writing is decent. The characters are diverse. My critical thoughts: The loot/crafting mechanics as well as the combat are very simple. The mature content (racy posters and dialogue) feels at odds with the rudimentary mechanics. The game is very, very easy and the power curve doesn't scale alongside battle complexity/difficulty in away that keeps the player engaged. I had a fun 10 hours cruising…

I wasn't sure what to expect from Space Prison, but I do enjoy a game that rewards careful planning ahead instead of fast reflexes. (Though, there are elements of this ingame too.) Personally, everything about this game appeals to me: the setting, the gameplay, the art style, the writing/humour... If I had one complaint, it would be that it ends. There's a decent replayability factor with the randomisation each playthrough, and you'll need at least 4 playthroughs to see everything. Having…

You are an unseasoned but scrappy inmate uncovering the weird nooks and corners of a large, hostile prison. This is a great set up, and is executed fairly well. There is a nice balance between repetitive actions and priority curve-balls to maintain the illusion of dull prison life, while still being interesting. The lite-RPG mechanics stay grounded and don't spin off into a power fantasy. Resources balancing feel tight, at first, though I found myself getting over the hump fairly quickly and…

I like the art and the concept. Core gameplay is just fine. The biggest problem is that the gameplay loop itself is way too tight, and there simply isn't enough there. It feels like it would work better as a board game, since then you could at least play it with friends and share a couple beers. Great effort, and absolutely buy it if you like to support indie games, but understand that this is more the idea for a game than a finished product.

There is no real customization. You get to pick between two factions and you grind relationship points till you move up to the next level. It tries to look like a rougelike but that's just to move resources around the 'map'. If you played a second runthrough of this game, it would be about the same. Boring overall.

Its honestly really fun and unique... until you progress and unlock a few things. Then you realize it's just an endless loop with no carrot. Weapon balance is a joke too. You get a stun baton about half way through the game and it trivializes everything but the boss fights. I really wish they would add more content and address some concerns the community continually bring up. This game could be really good, but for now I cannot recommend.

Space Prison is an RPG with turn-based combat, in which you are a prisoner trying to escape from… well, a space prison. It’s an incredibly fun concept that’s rarely ever done, if at all, however, it does not feel like the game is taking full advantage of its premise. The prison doesn’t feel much like a prison and you’re not really doing anything to escape it. What you do is join one of two prison gangs and move up the ladder by completing jobs for fellow gang members to earn their respect, so…

I really want to like this game, but the combat is so basic and underwhelming. The sound design could use a bit of work; it lacks a certain punch to it that makes every hit feel empty. The concepts are interesting, like recruiting rats and gang members, but you're telling me in a massive prison there's only two gangs? There's also only three races to pick from, so there just isn't much variety. The art style is very nice, however. I just wish the game had a bit more to it.

I enjoyed my time with Space Prison, I'm kinda disappointed that there isn't any additional content for it on the way, but I guess that is just me being too used to games that arrive in an semi-incomplete state. (there is no gender pick) Gameplay is nice and fun but the final boss is so weak I still beat it even when I forgot to repair my broken weapons and armour. Unexpectedly purchased and completed this game. I'm actually not a huge fan of the prison theme, but I decided to check out their demo and here I am now :) It's a fun and entertaining turn-based RPG. You play as a convict who plans to escape the most guarded prison in the galaxy. You'll have to join one of the two main gangs onboard and fight you way to the top to do so. Every day you get some hours to travel around the prison corridors and locations (like bathroom etc), complete quests…

It's a fun game with a fun concept and a really cool setting. I had a lot of fun with it, especially in the beginning, but towards the end it tends to drag on a little as you're mostly going between the same locations fighting the same enemies over and over again. There are also a lot of little annoyances that add up over time, such as: There are no hotkeys to select attacks in combat, it gets pretty annoying when you're repeating the same attack several times and you have to go between the…

It's near exactly what it advertises and what you would expect! Definitely worth its price. Let's start with the positives! The artstyle is amazing, even though the animations aren't much, the style is more comicbook-like, so it doesn't lose much. The flavor is on point, just gritty enough, but doesn't take itself TOO seriously, which also goes into its playfully mature humor. The backgrounds are spectacular, I was never taken out of the experience. The collectibles must be the best ones I've…

I would call this a parody of an open world survival game if it wasn't so gosh darn fun and competently made in its own right. Every open world is a prison when you get right down to it, so why not lean into that? Instead scouring for lumber planks, i'm crawling through shower drains to find tuffs of hair, but are the two activities so different? Also, pretty funny too.

I really like the concept of this game, and I'm excited to see how the story goes. There is replayability at least two times due to the different faction quests, but I think it would be really neat if there was a game mode unlocked after completing both storylines. This game is definitely not a roguelike but I think it could really benefit from a roguelike mode, with procedural quests and possibly even characters. One negative I have to say would be the combat, it's just not really fun or…

This isn't a bad game, but it's not worth the price. It's just another in a long line of games that get released today that are shiny looking, and give the perception of involved and deep mechanics, but are ultimately very surface level and unsatisfying. Combat was slow, even for a turn-based RPG game. Just didn't feel fluid. This is a fun game to play, but who boy is the user interface terrible. For instance you have very limited inventory space, but after fighting a battle in a corridor, anything you can't immediately fit into inventory are lost, where as if you were exploring a room and had the same fight, anything you don't pick up is dropped on the floor and you can then shuffle some combat items off to your comrades. Speaking of which, how come your comrades can't carry anything other than combat items?…

Fun game. The inventory management can be tedious at times, but once you get some followers, you can stack them with combat items and armor/weapons. Building items and upgrading comes at the cost of quests needing those same items, but you get infinite chances to do the quests. Repair for money is expensive, making new items is the better choice, especially at mid and endgame. Took about 30 hours to do everything I could manage, which made the endgame fights easy.

Took my time and didn't rush through, taking a good twenty hours to complete. There's also some replayability there with the 'Broken Collar' mode, if you wish for more. Definitely worth the full price tag in my opinion. A solid 9/10 for what the game offers for its price. Paid more for less in a lot of other games.

It's a game you can play, put down and get back into pretty easily. I want to say that it reminds me of "the captain" however it's nothing like it, however it's in the same universe i'd say.
