positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Space Pilgrim Academy is a very nice adventure game cleverly using what the RPGMaker programming softwares have to offer. It's a sequel to the 4 chapters of the Space Pilgrim serie, though it's enjoyable even without knowing those previous episodes. Space Pilgrim Academy is truly faithful to Space Pilgrim spirit, as far as the storyline, humor and, to some extent, philosophical questioning are concerned. For those who yet don't know the background: the saga is futuristic. It depicts a sight…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It ended with "The Saga will continue" and I'm sitting here like "IT BETTER"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun adventure game. I love how well writen it is and how it expands upon the universe already setup by the previous games. The tie-ins to the previous games are all well done to where you get more out of it if you've played them, but it's not necessary either. It looks like they took some care in keeping that balance so it'll be more accessible. It's a bit on the short side, but still feels like a complete story that leads into their next game so I don't mind. Speaking of which, I'm…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately not a good experience compared to the last series which I thoroughly enjoyed. Everything is very clunky and slow for some reason even tho it's still the same nice simple 2D graphics although everything is smaller/harder to see for some reason which takes away from the enjoyment also. Plus going round every class in the academy and doing inane tasks etc. just isn't fun, it's very tedious, not enough focus on the storyline.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another excellent Space Pilgrim adventure. As the blurb says, this game takes place after the end of Space Pilgrim episode IV. Eight years have passed since the events of that game and things have moved on. Gail Pilgrim is now an ambassador with responsibilities, the life of a roaming space captain behind her. In the opening she rescues a young girl, Maggie, from a mysterious attack on a seemingly mundane industrial research facility. Placing Maggie into school at a local academy, Gail sets…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I been a fan of the Pilgrim series since it first came out, and I'm glad to see that a new game came out. the story is pretty good and their alot of laughter and drama in it. You play as both Margaret and Gail in this news series. As Margaret you get to go to different classes and interact with the lessons, and with Gail, you go out in space to seek out a mystery that has yet to be explain.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good: - The story have its moments - The low price The Bad: - The game freeze for me about every 15 -30 Minutes - It appears to have only one single path of action that move you forward and sometimes you even have to find the right action via trial and error (or a walktrough) - Fixed window / game resolution (as typicial for most RPG Maker games) If the game would run without problems I maybe would give a suggestion to get it because of its low price but so no way.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was amazing! The graphics, sound track, the characters, the character development, and the plot, were all top notch. Some of the parts of the game were hard to figure out, but once you understand the concept of the game controls, it gets easier to play. This was one of the BEST games that I have ever played in a long time! Buy it! It's going to be worth your money!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another solid space pilgrim story although it feels like 20% of any previous game, the other 80% is running between empty lifeless campuses with boring "classes".
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review is for the whole Space Pilgrim Academy Series. What we have here is an excellently written adventure game set in a futuristic environment, the years 2220-2224. The story follows a young girl, Maggie, who finds herself enrolled in the Pilgrim Space Academy of intergalactic war hero Gail Pilgrim (see Space Pilgrim, 1-4). We can see and help her creating friendships, achieving good grades while she apparently becomes the centre, i. e. the object of a galactic conspiracy. The game is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, interesting storyline.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After a little back and forth, I decided to recommend this game, but although I loved the original Space Pilgrim series, this game stumbled a bit...although I have faith that the developers will hit their stride with the already-promised sequel to this, and it genuinely has a lot of good going for it, so I encourage people to give it a try. I would usually do a pros and cons list, but I don't think that would adequately express both what I liked in this game and what I didn't both of which…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RPG Maker strikes again! Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 1 is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. As often happens with this RPG…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR 10/10: The first story arc was already an amazing experience. How anyone could have taken all of the positives from previous installments, make them better, and also provide better graphics (with an array of facial features matching the character mood with v.2.0) is really amazing! Now with trading cards. Overview Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 1 is the beginning of the second series of the Space Pilgrim Saga (fifth installment in the saga) which takes place eight years after the events…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros : + Good story, far better than all prequel + Lovely characters + More choices, even doesn't change thing much + OK soundtrack + Good pixel art Cons : - As usual, puzzle is a bit confusing, but better than the prequel - No trading cards If you've played the prequel, then you definetely play Space Pilgrim Academy as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the continuation/successor of the Space Pilgrim saga. Gail Pilgrim has risen up the ranks and now runs an Academy, as well as acting as a roving ambassador. One day, she responds to a distress call and discovers one lone survivor of an attack: a girl named Margaret Dale. Now, you play as both people, one trying to figure out the reasons behind the attack, and the other trying to get good grades... and find the truth, too. Has a bunch of callbacks to the prior games. Should be fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The start of a second series of Space Pilgrim Adventure games. I'd recommend playing through the first series if you want to be immersed in the story and characters. This chapter introduces a new set of characters and a new venue, the space cadet academy named after Gail Pilgrim. Gail and Maggie's stories are very different but they fit together well and the game has good continuity even with switching between main characters. The puzzles are on the easy side which is good from a story…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely! I recommend this game and every other game from the series. I'm excited to start my second year at the academy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought the package on sale a few months ago, but didn't play this one until I saw the 2.0 update. You might be turned off initially by its 'RPGMaker-ness' (at least I was), but I was pleasantly surprised to find the writing was very enjoyable. I found that the story moves at a comfortable pace, the characters are varied enough to make things interesting and there's enough intrigue to keep your attention. Really looking forward to the next game in the series. If this was a PoC game with full…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great, great series that deserves way more recognition. The cast is very endearing and the quality of the writing and storytelling is amazingly high for an indie RPGMaker game, and I can't stress that enough. You'll want to play the previous series before starting on this one. And while the original series is also pretty good, you can definitely tell the developer stepped it up with this series. I'm a sucker for stories or games that revolve around school life, and this game makes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man, i forgot how much i dig Space Pilgrim. The first series was one of the most fun sci-fi adventures i have played, and this new spinoff maintains the high quality of storytelling. For those who haven't experienced the first ones: Space Pilgrim is a shameless space opera that doesn't bring any new ideas to the table, but it's executed so well that it doesn't matter. The dialog feels real. The characters all have personality. The pacing is exactly on-point - the story never drags. It's just a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game in an old fashion style! It is a wonderful example of how simple games can be very enjoyable if they have a nice story line and good characters. I really recommend it, the same as its predecessor.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Linear gameplay with excellent storytelling , logical puzzles and a lot of humor - loved it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Space Pilgrim Academy series (Years 1 -3 and Reunion) serves as a welcome continuation of the Space Pilgrim saga. Under the tutelage of the original titular protagonist, you play as and meet new characters as the consequences of her past actions begin to surface and disrupt the current state of galactic affairs. This series appears to be a tad more ambitious than its predecessor, and leaves a few threads hanging as a precursor to a potential third sequel. While I look forward to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eh, I stopped playing halfway through the second act because I was bored. It's not bad, per se, just more of a point and click story without a lot of challenge. Cutscenes and dialogue can take a while and it just feels slow. I haven't played any other Space Pilgrim games though so maybe it's more fun if you're familiar with the series.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a huge fan of the Space Pilgrim series (1-4) I came into this very excited to see where the story would go. I must say that I had more fun in this one game than in the first 4. This game is brilliant. Mixing in new characters and old characters was done amazingly. If you love stories support this saga. It's so good. THE PLOT IS AMAZING (no spoilers) I also didn't know how I would feel about the game having essentially tests for the academy but I surprisingly enjoying the questions. You…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the Space Pilgrim Adventure games and I like the Space Pilgrim Academy Series even more! The story is amazing and so are all the characters. I had so much fun playing this and I cannot wait for future installments in the series!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What it is: a top-down graphics visual novel. Why I like it: some seriously good science fiction writing. I'm a big fan of these Space Pilgrim games. Play the previous ones if you haven't yet! And then get pumped for the Academy games! The characters are really well written. I rarely expect much from adolescent characters other than one of two personalities: spunky or shy. But these characters have some real variety of personalities and the stories (and the hijinks they get up to!) are really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very hard to write a review for any of the space pilgrim games, because in every review i basically want to write the same thing: Excellent, really excellent story telling. I love the humour, the characters, the universe, the story,... just everything about it. No matter what your preffered genre is, THESE games are an absolutely "must play" for everyone.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game! Even tho it's a pixel graphics game it was immersive, letting me feel like a student again :D I even learned the star map and had lots of fun playing. Regarding the low price I can definitely recommend that game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game expands quite a bit on the lore of the Space Pilgrim universe, and is told (mostly) from the perspective of a child. Transitions from Gail's story to Maggie's are, from a storytelling angle, flawless. The plot is as you have come to expect from a Space Pilgrim game -- carefully thought out with underlying greater implications. And while Maggie's decisions are sometimes a little... forced (it's an adventure game, I still love it), this entry is well worth playing. I wait in (giddy)…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great start of of new saga can't wait till the rest is out
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the perfect example why the storyline is the essential ingredient in any adventure game, more important that graphics and animation. The game is short, but very enjoyable and it is well worth the price. What I hope they will improve in the next episodes is the puzzle quality. I enjoyed the scientific puzzles, but the rest were too straightforward, too basic and it takes away from the experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I could give this an 'indifferent recommendation' instead of a fully positive or negative one. The Original Space Pilgrim games were quite suprising to me. The graphics were not great, even among other RPG maker games, and the story was nothing spectacular, relying on a lot of tropes. Still it all came together to make a very charming package in its own world with its own lore and was worth the price and the playtime. Now the story continues later on, and in a newer engine and... well...…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really go odo for the trading cards
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I quite enjoyed this journey, on many levels. With the game functions helpful and controls intuitive, I could experience the adventure, dialogue and story arc, without distraction. Puzzles are not generic and felt, mostly, immersive to the style and content of the story. Achievements are easily enough attainable, so grind or replay is avoidable. This is the first of a series, so I am looking forward to more from the galactic cadets.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a good game in a series of this saga. I plan to play them all. Highly recommended, enjoy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is another very good entry in the Space Pilgrim series, I really would recommend if you haven't played them to play the first 4 episodes before this one, because you'll get a lot more out of the character interactions. If you didn't get the context of the plot and dynamic of the last chapters, you might end up being confused by some of the plot threads. You take on the role of Maggie Dale who is beginning her first year at Space academy, you'll be taking on various galactic subjects while…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another great adventure game from Pilgrim Adventures. It shows that good writing can overcome everything including using RPG Maker.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great follow-up to the original Space Pilgrim saga. It's bigger, larger cast, fancier visuals, and even runs on an updated version of the RPG Maker software. However, having said that I must confess there's a few issues. The game definitely feels larger than ever, especially since Maggie is a child and I think that plays into the scope and feel somewhat. With larger maps, though, comes a lot more running around, which means you're going to want Always Run to be toggled on. I went…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have just completed Space Pilgrim Academy: Years 1 thru 3 and Space Pilgrim Academy: Reunion. I am putting my opinions on the entire Latona Station arc here in Year 1, so this is not just about Year 1 by itself. The storyline is good and continues in the worlds of the original series, with Gail Pilgrim, Sabina, and many others from the previous storyline taking major roles, with the player alternating between controlling Gail and Maggie, the main protagonist in the story. Maggie is orphaned…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This whole series is just amazing! Unbeatable prices for a very immersive story! It never gets boring, the single games may seem a little short regarding the playtime, but I enjoyed every minute. I already enjoyed the previous "Space Pilgrim" Series, but "Space Pilgrim Academy" ads a lot more to the game. The world feels deeper, the story developes on from the first series, the graphics look nicer, and there is generally more to do regarding achievements. I can only recommend both series to all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the fifth game in the Space Pilgrim series, and it´s as enjoyable as the previous chapters. Excellent story telling, engaging polished gameplay, humour... Very enjoyable all in all
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a blast playing this chapter! The academy, the study puzzles and the story were all fun and engaging. The gameplay is polished and without control lag. A great addition to the Pilgrim series I say!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →that one achievement that made you have to restart the entire game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the Space Pilgrim series and the first year Space Pilgrim Academy. Excellent! Hope there is more to come.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is great! I had fun playing it. Can't wait for Year 2! :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An excellent first chapter in the sequel to the Space Pilgrim series.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice little game, good to play and relax. Reminds me of Stardew Valley in that respect, but this story is different, and space is always cool.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →another great start with the saga, what's with that cliffhanger tho! I need next episode!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very happy that the space pilgrim saga carries on. And hopefully there is still more to come.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got screwed out of a straight A/100% first run by a freaking lab coat. Yes, I'm salty about it. But also it's basically a walking simulator with cutscenes, lacking a lot of the actual adventure part of the first series, and most of the "interaction" involves being quizzed by the instructors. Some of them require knowledge from the previous games or have little to no context clues(cough lab coat cough). Seeing the returning characters from the first series was kinda nice, except the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →⭐ Recommended I'll be honest, I'm not much into sci-fi. But the story of this game pulled me in anyway, and I'm glad it did. The characters were all great. Even though sci-fi isn't usually my thing, I kept wanting to find out what happens next. What really surprised me is that there isn't a single battle in the whole game. That was a first for me with an RPG Maker title. Instead it plays more like an old-school adventure game. You search locations for items, combine them, and work out how to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished the Space Pilgrim saga and wanted to say thank you. The characters, worldbuilding, and story stayed with me long after I finished. It was one of the most memorable RPG Maker experiences I've ever had. Thanks again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oof.. I'm sorry to say I'm not really feeling this Academy thing, going to class and taking tests. I thought we would still follow Gail and her friends, doing some kind of training or something, like adult academy. I just recently figured out that the term "academy" is commonly used in anime. Feels like Pilgrim Academy is trying to appeal to teenagers who love anime and japanese high school games, the vibes are so different from the first 4 episodes. I will keep going even though I'm struggling…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 1, developed by Pilgrim Adventures and published by GrabTheGames, is a thoughtfully crafted point-and-click adventure that continues the Space Pilgrim saga while remaining accessible to new players. Set nine years after the events of the previous games, it introduces a new generation of characters while retaining the series’ signature mix of humor, intrigue, and emotional depth. The game successfully blends classic adventure gameplay with a richly woven narrative,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the first installment in the sequel series to the Space Pilgrim tetralogy. While the Space Pilgrim Academy series can be enjoyed as a stand-alone title, the additional context from the earlier entries make it more engaging. It improves upon the earlier games with a larger map (with an "always dash" option that makes navigating it quicker), better music and more NPCs with interesting back-stories. Personally, I found the conclusion of the previous series too optimistic and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i'm copy pasting the same review for all Space Pilgrim Academy game since they're basically one game split in multiple parts. With a limited system through RPGMaker this still manages to tell a very good story, with a fun soundtrack and decent puzzle challenges throughout. The characters returning from the previous series take a backseat to the new ones a lot which I don't mind as I prefer focusin on the generation, also going away from the idea that everything could've been solved quickly,…
