Review of the gameplay - It's fine. The puzzles are decent, and the difficulty increases at a good rate. Turn off the VX option AS SOON AS YOU START THE GAME. It doesn't cause any bugs, but it makes reading some of the puzzle tiles difficult. It's purely a retro aesthetic that isn't needed. It's worth the $2.50 for the puzzles I suppose. I hit "not recommended" for this game based on the story though. Anyone who wants to create a story telling mechanic like this please repeat this mantra while…

7/10 Very interesting Puzzle Indie game. The narrative of the game and the way it goes on are very novel. However, this game would not take you so much time to finish, and you may still do not understand the story and what happened even after you finished the game. Although you are a hacker, in this game, the way you hack the document is to solve Sudoku, and nothing more. The story is a little amusing, but too obscure. The puzzle part of this game is very hardcore, you need to find how to…

Sorry, James is the kind of game that will either pull you in and have you play for an entire day; or one where you pick it up for a half hour and never look at it again. The game has an interesting but not unique formula that falls into the "Minesweeper, but not" category along other titles like Hexcells and Pictopix. That's fine as long as it brings something new to the table, which it kinda does I guess? It's a good game if you like logic puzzles but one of the issues I have is it's…

okay, let's be honest. I don't really like this game. Yeah, there are some shinning points. You had to dig clues outta game, that's quite alright ideas. And the sweeping-mines-style was kinda moderate. However the playthrough was repetitive and confusing. I felt so boring at the last part puzzles, and my patience steadily got lost. Even you beat the game, you DO need a demo to understand the whole plot. I mean, seriously?? Just too much. Turing Test and AI stuff are intriguing, but the game…

Like many other reviewers, my opinions on this game are mixed. Structurally, it's great! The puzzles are good and just tricky enough to challenge, but not so much that they're impossible. If you make one wrong move, you get a buzz, and completing it won't register as a perfect run, but you have infinite moves to do it right after that. If you're a completionist, there's a very quick reset with no loading interval, which is a blessing. Learning how the puzzle works is intuitive and fun. The…

Sorry James fails to deliver on its promises of intrigue. I came across this title on Humble Bundle, and was hooked on the promises of a non-linear mystery to unravel in a work simulation setting. I have found moments in the recent past where I adored this sort of world building (thinking "Orwell: Keeping an Eye on You"). I snatched it up. I am always ready to enjoy an indie experimental narrative. I never expected to come out the other end disappointed. I felt I had become the victim of…

It's really bad. I mean.. really. You just keep clicking random buttons in repetitive, sudoku-like mini games. Of course the solutions are not actually random, but the easiest way to solve them is by just starting somewhere and then see where it takes you - or just restart if necessary. You're "rewarded" with countless bits of chat logs, consisting of terrible dialogue (or more like monologue) in terrible English, which must have been written by terribly horny teenagers in summer camp.…

Why would you design a game where the first puzzle is an arbitrary password that can only be found on its Steam store page? The last thing I want to play is something that makes me have to immediately exit it just to get started.

The puzzles are fine, though they're never as neat or tight as, say, Hexcells. The story is whatever, and it's told through poorly written, sometimes borderline incomprehensible text conversations, and none of it needed all the incel red-pilled anti-sjw noise sprinkled all over for added flavor. No one needs that.

4/10 Sorry, James, I can't play your game anymore. In Sorry, James, you play as a man named James Garner. When the game begins, you're asked by your boss to decrypt some files. You decrypt the files by completing puzzles that, as noted in the game's description, are initially similar to Minesweeper. I'm not usually a big fan of puzzle games, but I do enjoy Minesweeper and thought that the salacious nature of the story would keep me engaged. Completing puzzles reveals chat transcripts between…

I find Sorry, James an interesting example in how context can effect a game. Usually when I write that, I mean that weaker elements can be supported by e.g. strong writing. In this case, a core gameplay mechanic I probably would have liked in isolation was surrounded by bad decisions, resulting in my negative opinion of the whole mess. At its heart, this is a puzzle game based around identifying which squares need to be filled in which colour, with the optional challenge of doing it without…

I don't know how I never paid attention to this game's store page before; I think I bought it off some recommendation or something. Frankly, if I had seen that abortion of a translation, I wouldn't have bothered. The in-game text is just as bad, and there's no way to take a game that is essentially nothing but text seriously with all this engrish everywhere. What passes for gameplay here is some sort of dumbed down "Minesweeper for Windows 3.11" (if you can imagine that) that gets stale 5…

Sorry James, but This Game Falls Short of Expectations Rating: ★★☆☆☆ Review: Sorry James had the potential to be a gripping and unsettling psychological horror experience, but unfortunately, it fails to live up to expectations. While it attempts to create an eerie atmosphere and intriguing narrative, the execution falls short in several key areas. One of the game's major shortcomings is its lack of compelling gameplay mechanics. The interactions and puzzles feel shallow and unremarkable,…

Sorry James is a unique puzzle game that blends elements of Sudoku, AIM chat (if anyone remembers that dinosaur), and desk work. Released in 2017, Sorry James looks to be one of the first installments of the Konstructors Entertainment franchise, which focuses on traditional puzzle games with a flair. Unfortunately, this title takes a giant, unnecessary swing….and misses. Sorry to say that I was rather disappointed with this title, but, honestly, it does do some interesting and cool things that…

Just finished my playthrough of Sorry James. The game had me "stumped" right from the off, not knowing how to login to begin the game, but after overcoming that hurdle we go into the puzzles. Where a new element is introduced, the game gives you a couple of simple tutorial type puzzles, before making them a little more complicated. The only exception to this was when the black tiles were introduced. A simple screen prompt would have been helpful, as I initially thought it was something…

Puzzles are great. Honestly, if it were just the puzzles with the aesthetic/music I'd recommend it. The story elements are so bad it detracts from the game as a whole. Pointless out-of-game tasks are given to progress the narrative. I didn't like the story so why would I download the demo in order to progress in the main game?

Sorry, James is a somewhat pretentious 2D hybrid of a "hacking/desktop sim" and a crap ripoff of Sokoban from the 1990's. You "hack" a computer by playing Sokoban and are rewarded with a trashy, badly written bit of visual novel exposition. There's nothing really here worth the effort, you can read e-books for free and if you want to play Sokoban, that's free too. Sure, you have to dig for the story. Sure, it has a narrative buried deep that it doesn't just spell out for you. Problem is, after all that digging, the story isn't very good. You dig, and then the payoff is not at all worth it. Finally unearthing the story that the game hides from you was like hunting for buried treasure, finding it, and then opening it up, only to find a pile of ♥♥♥♥ inside. Waste of time.

Sorry, James, but I have to thumbs this one down. The extremely fragmented and confusing story is even more confusing by the bad English grammar (which, at first, I thought it was intended since it's chat messages we are reading in-game) Also, adding stuff outside the game to support the story seems cool and interesting but when it's poorly done, like in this game, it will just make you miss a lot of things. You may read those files. They contain transcript of chats. That. Is. It. Full stop. Wanna hacking-like experience? Check Hacknet or TIS-100, but not this.

Not how to log in, not how to solve the puzzles, and not really what is going on in the game play. I do feel the atmosphere and expectation it sets with the trailer and overal design are much darker and 'horrorish' than the game merits.
