59 of 59 · most liked firstBland and boring, honestly. The levels blend together (and have no names either) and the weapons are overall uninteresting. Speaking of the weapons, you have 6 of them: 3 melee and 3 ranged. On one side we have a sword, a lance that basically replaces the sword because it has more range and attacks faster, and a mace that's slow but powerful. It works, though it's weird how enemies start randomly moving around in straight lines if you get far enough from them. On the other side, there's a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pleasant Egyptian setting, but this is let down by average gameplay. The level design is forgettable, and I got bored before finishing it. I would suggest Quartermain or Reverend, instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looks cute, but quick saves are busted and can softlock you. A shame, really. I hope it'll be fixed and I will be able to finish the rest of the game — it was pretty fun.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Retro Egyptian FPS! It is challenging and fun!! Variety of enemies and weapons. Reminds me of Heretic, Blood and Doom but still manages to have a unique feel! DOSMan Games cranked up the nostalgic factor with this one! Recommended from what I played and CANNOT WAIT TO PLAY MORE!! See some SKARAB Gameplay here : https://youtu.be/clUFyuwsICA
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enemy spam and terrible level design on the first level. One of the worse boomer's i have played in a while. The sling is also singlehandedly the worst ranged weapon i have ever played with in a boomer shooter. A letdown and baffling coming from DOSman who made a banger like reverend so he clearly know how to make good boomer's but this aint it...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →go with your gut instinct, this isn't good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Skarab, is a short little indie pixelart game for an small price. If you grew up and loved Exhumed/PowerSlave on the PSX or Saturn, you will have a lot of fun with this game too. It took me about 2 hours to beat it and even the last boss was a pain in the ass (at least for me until you figure it out, how to drop him easily), I think you get a good overall performance for the low price of the game. There are a variety of different and interesting enemies you can attack with several antique…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice indie boomer shooter made using Easy FPS Editor. Decent selection of weapons between melee/ranged, nice enemy designs. Levels have some good variety, game didn't over stay its welcome. The music is probably the standout for me. Recommended at full price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Am I biased? Yes. Is Skarab an impressive evolution from earlier DOSMan Games? Yes. Does it try new things and improve on the true and tested formula of boomer shooters? Yes Is it the DOSMan developed game I've had the most fun with? Yes. Give it a go!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/VulBCx8nIms Melee combat in first person is rarely done well and this is a example of the major flaws in that design.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a phenomenal game! I've never heard of "Dosman", but now I'm going to look into other games my him. This is a really faithful recreation of the retro shooter game feeling. It plays exactly like some of those games back in the mid-90s when 3d was just getting its feet under it. The music is great, the level design is good, the weapon list is.... okay.. and the story is old hat and trite... which makes it absolutely perfect for a 90s game recreation. Loved it right the way…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you ever wanted to live like you were Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in The Scorpion King? Do you long to run through the dunes of ancient Egypt hurling stones and bonkin cultists with a very heavy stick? Then might I suggest playing this brilliant bite size boomer shooter! Skarab has such a fun atmosphere and some incredibly memorable boss fights! Also, I’m pretty sure you will suffer King Ramses’ Curse if you don’t play Skarab ( or return the slab.)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played other DOSman games including Night Jackal, REVEREND, SATAN, and I enjoyed them, but this one was a letdown. It falls short of the previous games in 2 main ways: tech and game design. I couldn’t get the game to run in full screen. I tried the game option, Alt+Enter, F11 but none worked. I had to play in a half-sized window. Then the melee combat felt awkward, I stabbed at enemies and still missed targets, especially smaller ones like spiders and snakes. Even human sized enemies can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this was really fun and i had a good time, its very simplistic and only took 2 hrs to finish but i promise youll enjoy yerself, the levels are good, the weapons are fun and all usefull, and the enemies are challenging, oh and the music was good too
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another fun way from DOSMan Games to procrastinate my real life work for a couple hours. I do wish the "sling" weapon let you keep spinning it until you're ready to release it, as the hardcoded delay to fire seems a bit unrealistic, but it does add to the challenge of using your first ranged weapon.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game with fun soundtracks, and an interesting setting. Works well on Steam Deck--I only had to rebind 1 or 2 buttons. The exotic atmosphere is well worth the price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This dev has some good FPS games and some mediocre ones. This one is mostly mediocre, but it's very playable. You move through the maps attacking enemies and collecting keys to progress. There are only three projectile weapons, the rest are melee. It's fine since the game only takes about an hour and half to finish. There are some cool platforming sections. The boss fights needed to be more varied since you can kill them all by strafe shooting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent egyptian themed old school fps, with a heavy focus on melee combat however.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The variety of enemies are really solid! i like the weapon options and the fact ammo is limited enough that you will need to do melee and you have a nice mix of options on that front to use whether you go for more damage, reach or what not. the levels are gorgeous especially with thier lighting and coloring. Also egypt is a great idea for a doom style game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bite-sized boomer shooter with charm and a fair but good challenge! Gameplay: https://youtube.com/live/Wh4wwNlUapU
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun vibe and the soundtrack is spot on!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really fun romp through Ancient Egypt as you quest to save the princess from Anubis and his followers. I found the weapon roster to be very good and enjoyed the nice mix of melee and ranged weapons. There is some decent enemy variety with excellent sprite work. Level design is also very good as there is plenty of traps and platforming thrown in to keep things fresh. Sound design is also excellent with some catchy tunes throughout. a first playthrough of the game took me up 2 hours to finish…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great! - Straight to the point, fast and fun action that keeps you hooked with it's engaging enemies, boss fights, cool weapons and well-laid out maps with a mysterious Egyptian soundtrack and theme. I highly recommend to those who enjoy boomer-shooters and fast-paced action!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DOSMan Games once again expands their collection of "all killer no filler" Boomer Shooters. Skarab, is a wonderful culmination of everything we've seen so far from the studio with top of the line sound design, great art, an amazing setting, fun weapons, and some of their best level designs yet. TLDR: Challenging and fun boomshoot with a focus on melee combat and platforming with a length of about 3-5 hrs. Great game for a great price. Pros: 1. As previously mentioned, Skarab has fantastic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't typically play this type of game, so I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. But this game is really fun and challenging, I haven't beaten it yet but I'll be sure to get back to it. I've been wanting to play some Ancient Egyptian themed games so I was super excited when I was informed of this. I say its worth the price, you should play it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Retro FPS Without the Shooting? Interesting experience overall. I think this DOSMan title genuinely tries to do something different. The setting is very original, and the heavy focus on melee combat is definitely not something you usually see in a boomer shooter. That said, is this even a boomer shooter if, for the most part, you’re not actually shooting? I’m not sure. What I do know is that I enjoyed playing it. The melee combat works better than you might expect. It feels really smooth and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Skarab is a another boomer shooter from DOSMan... this DooM ripoff has an ancient Egypt skin slathered badly on it and has you running around small pyramid and Egypt themed raycaster levels clubbing enemies because once more DOSMan failed to understand the basic premise of boomer shooters... which is shooting. The melee focus draws attention to just how bad this era of games was for melee stuff, because they were designed for gunplay. You do eventually get ranged attacks... and they suck.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another DOSMan Games title full of bugs: video glitches related to out-of-map limits, quicksaves that take an eternity to load, or that don’t save progress at all—for example, switches that simply don’t persist after being activated when you reload a quicksave. Most, if not all, of these issues appear to be tied to Easy FPS Editor. Stay away from this game, and honestly, probably stay away from anything published by DOSMan Games. They clearly do not play-test the games they publish, or their…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Skarab is a compact, fast-paced action shooter that wears its retro inspirations proudly while injecting them with the energy of a modern indie project. Developed and published by DOSMan Games, it takes place in a stylized, mythic version of ancient Egypt where you awaken as a lone warrior tasked with saving your kingdom, rescuing its captured royalty, and defeating the god Anubis himself. The premise borders on the absurd in the best possible way—embracing pulpy adventure tropes, mystical…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent Egyptian themed old school FPS with a heavy focus on melee combat
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First impressions are decent. Light on the quality of life stuff, had to figure the commands by trial and error, but it seems okay. That said, it all seems to work, so one thumb up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ancient Egyptian bee gun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →these dosman games keep getting better and better
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly this game feels super good to play and the mechanics are insanely consistent! We had a really great time playing this and if you're looking for something retro and full of fun this is for you! Anubis is a bit tanky but after some elbow grease we got him to sit and stay! Can't wait for more!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you’re familiar with DOSMan games then you know what to expect. They are fun throwbacks that remind me of playing games on my old packard bell PC It’s been a nice steam deck game, you just need to select 1280x720 from the launcher before you play for the game to display correctly and bind a key to control for duck (I use R3 toggle)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't forget to use your sling!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Out of all the bite-sized retro style FPS games DOSMan has made so far, I think this is my 2nd favourite one! (REVEREND still being my favourite game of their's, though perhaps that may change after I've played through more of this game.) Ever since it was first announced, Skarab gave me some serious Powerslave Exhumed vibes. Here's my first impressions video of me playing Skarab for the first time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jK8uXaxLy3Y
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I mean, call me biased, but I think it's pretty neat.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little game! The actual best atmosphere for feeling like an ancient Egyptian warrior I've ever felt in a video game! The only con is that the game is a little short, but for the price it's definitely worth it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At this point it's just how many themes can dosman make of the same game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another DOSman Games EFPSE game. Basically self-explanatory Skarab is a Egyptian themed Retro FPS developed and published by DOSman Games. Running in the EFPSE engine, It follow a warrior tasked with saving the princess, who has been kidnapped by that pesky Anubis and his cult. If it wasn't quite obvious with the tone, if you've played previous DOSman titles like Flash of the Blade X and REAPER. You know exactly how it's going to go here, just with a new coat of paint and some innovations in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great retro fps graphics. melee is kinda hard in these efpse games tho, just cuz of how the engine works. the game is visually impressive, the egyptian setting is cool, and it is absolutely worth the $3 entry price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun adventure in Egypt. The style of game-play is everything one can expect from DOSman games, fun and classic. The art-style is distinct and easy to read while being nice looking and leaning into the the spirit of the setting it’s in. There are some problems with quick-saves and quick-loads but nothing major and the levels are short enough that it was never too much of a problem. There are some bad enemy placements, and arsenal seems limited but not too bad either.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun efps game that expands and improves on previous dosman releases. larger levels, more room variation, intermission scenes, and more play time overall than the good releases that came before this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite enjoyed this simple extremely retro style fps. Music is addictive and well suited. While at first the basic nature of the weapons may seem stifling, learning how to use them correctly and time all your attacks is both satisfying and true to the shooters of old. the minibosses are fun and challenging at times. Completed the game in a few hours and for the price of a few dollars it was well worth it. Due to playing in offline mode my actual game time is not shown.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly this is the first DOSman game I've played and not enjoyed. The theming and retro execution are spot on as per usual, but the level design towards the end of the game and boss encounters seriously frustrated me. I also feel the integration of the quick save feature, whilst nice in theory, ended up being a bit of a clunky system that eventually led to a softlock as I was able to quicksave as I was dying. I can't recommend this one as strongly as the other DOSMan games. Edit: However, the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →simple and basic melee heavy in beginning 3 hours long at most a map feature is not included kill pagan gods and get hot egyptian princess GF

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don’t have sex in sand unless you like sand in your butt…oh yeah this game is fantastic
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally, a retro shooter in Egyptian setting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, this game is lots of fun. The spritework has very nice details, the weapon and enemy variety adds a nice element to it, and the ost has a couple big time bangers. I really enjoyed having some platforming sections, as its not as common in these games, overall, a very enjoyable experience, and its worth the price
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great game for the price, but has a few faults that must be mentioned. (This was posted on the discord, but for anyone not on there) - Mouse stutter on linux/proton was terrible, but I found a way to make it better, which may help you and future players, which is to have the fps as high as possible, keep the FPS over like 250 and it's gone and feels smooth. (Maybe this detail is a hint on what the issue is) - Levels was way better than I expected, not DOOM megawad level but very good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DOSmans best yet. Best level design and themeing. and Im not even a major fan of Egyptian themes. DO A PIRATE GAME NEXT
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very enjoyable! I like the movement and the aesthetics, the gameplay is smooth and the guns feel good. It's pretty short but I didn't mind it. Would've liked a bit more weapon variety and a mini map as some levels can get a bit confusing but those are minor complaints. Thumbs up!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short 2 hour game, like playing a little mini boomer shooter adventure. A lot better than i expected best game so far the dosman has made that i've played. The music was also really catchy, but also the only real complaint is that a few of the songs are super short loops, while others are really good.
