positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool minimalist shooter, but there are bugs, sometimes shots go through enemies, if you stand on the enemy's head, he can't hit you, and if you press crouch while jumping, the speed of falling slows down.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ball-bustingly difficult yet very satisfying to conquer, Flash of the Blade is a quick and challenging game that nonetheless squeezes a heck of a lot of mileage out of its level designs. Incorporating infiltration-style stages with rooms of lone ninjas, to facing off against f***-off huge armies of impending archers, there's always something new and surprising to contend with. The inclusion of those DOSMan secrets - themselves hidden quite ingeniously - was also a joy, not least because the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can recommend this game with a few caveats. TLDR: Buy this game if you want something very simple and fast to play for a few minutes. Do not buy this game if you don't like what you see on the preview pictures on steam. You can do much worse for its price, but also much better, if you pay a few bucks more. My first visual impression was, that wouldn't like this game and see no reason to play it, due to the myriads of other titles with more sophisticated everything. Boy was i wrong. Next…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a cool ninja themed FPS/Hack & Slash game. The closest thing we got to a ninja themed FPS was Shadow Warrior and you mostly just shoot guns in that one. So this is kind of the first "pure" feudal japanese/ninja themed fps. I enjoy the sprites and the theme, and the melee combat is simple but fun. I enjoyed the little easter eggs as well. The various ninja weapons are cool as well and do feel different. I also liked the speed of the player not only because its a boomer shooter but also…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short and sweet, with a nice variety of visuals, and levels to play through
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its great! My favourite game ever!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved it. Pros +Short n sweet levels +Great weapons and melee actually feels satisfying +Played a 'secret level' with some great developer commentary +Secret level has a cursed DOSMan. Can you find him? +Secrets galore. (Ya found me!) +Music is high effort and seems like a different song for each level. All traditional Japanese +Short game. but bargain price Cons - A few options are missing that you'd find on later EFPS releases from DOSMan - No achievements (see above) Recommended
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The traditional Japanese background music is soothing. It stands in stark contrast to the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the game only after it got a big overhaul so I can't comment on how it was before that (though that should not bother new players anyway) So far I've played through the first five DOSman games on Steam and Flash of the Blade X was the best of the bunch. This is not a polished or innovative game, Dosman Games is upfront about that and the price should set appropriate expectations. Treat this game like a hamburger: cheap and not that great but satiates you until the next proper meal…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely short, at just under 1h, and super easy, but somehow satisfying and relaxing to play. Take the length into account compared with the purchase/sale price though. Resolution can be changed via the Config.ini file in the installation folder, but it messes with the mouse sensitivity so be aware of that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very mediocre experience. The level design and enemies are forgettable, and I have no desire to play this again. There are far better games at the same price point, such as "Quartermain and the cult of cthulhu", another Dosman game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short but decent old school fps with a high focus on melee combat.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I completed the game in less than an hour on my first attempt and, while I did like it, I think it's way too short and easy for its own good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played it through. (EDIT: Twice through now) Very small and enjoyable experience. It's a silly game, but the melee combat was actually really enjoyable which a lot of FPS games get wrong. Also: "Ya found me!"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"I like Sword, that's a personal weapon" - Some other ninja
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Insanely good bang for the buck. Fast paced Bushido Blade-meets-Hotline-Miami action! One of the best games out there on the EFPSE engine. Definitely going to keep checking out whatever the dev does next!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid, Insane Gameloop, full of fun & surprises. Worth a pickup!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pleasant, short experience. Very bite size. I really enjoyed it. If he ever makes an expansion, I'll buy it day one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FLASH OF THE BLADE X is another "boomer shooter", this one with a "ninja" theme, making this, effectively, a ripoff of Daikatana that is somehow so much worse than Daikatana was. It seems to be a hallmark of the developer to make boomer shooters without much shooting, preferring instead to rely on melee weapons, punishingly bad difficulty, with very few, poorly placed pickups, and otherwise somewhat sloppy level design to make a frustrating and repetitive experience, as opposed to the fun and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not quite the quality of shadow warrior, but for $3 this is a decent little game. Finished it in maybe 3-4 hours, played in offline mode so my playtime is not accurately reflected here. Decent minibosses and nice tunes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm in the process of playing through all DOSman games. This is my 3rd one. Of the 3 I've played so far, this seemed to be the shortest. After starting a couple of times, I finished the game within an afternoon. Though it took a minute for me to get into it, so far, this is my favorite DOSman game. I think the level design is interesting and obviously involved some thought. There's a lot of use of hidden enemies to evoke the idea of the "invisible ninja" (in long bamboo, around corners in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another fine addition to the Dosman Collection; FOTBX takes everything we enjoy in bite sized boomer shooters, and gives it to us in a fun, easy to access, simple package. Run, slice and dice and get out. Sure it's short, but that's perfect for the hard working middle aged gamer with bills to pay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For 2 dollars its pretty solid. If you have 2 dollars and want a game you could beat in an hour it's a fun time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short and simple. I wish it had a bit more depth and challenge, but was fun for what it was.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bite sized boom shoot that feels great to play and doesn't overstay its welcome. I'm looking forward to playing more of these.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, fun melee combat, ranged is decent and balanced. Only downside is that I completed it in matter of 46 minutes. Please add a difficulty section, make it tougher for me please!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want to kill an hour or 2 with a sweet little experience, then look no further! This game is a Blast and jumping around with your Katana rarely feel as great as this! There are more weapons, ranged and close combat but really.. This is Flash of the Blade! Not Flash of the Crossbow! - Music and Voice Acting give the game 10 ton of extra charm and Music especially is Glorious! At certain parts you may find yourself jumping and slashing to the rhytm of the Music! It's not the most…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game, has some cool sprites, enemies, weapons etc. Very short (61 minutes for me), but the game's very cheap, so that's okay. It was all pretty good, though it'd be nice to have more content. The music was really nice, which is appreciated!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok, completely biased review here. I love Dosman Games's uh...games. And this is one of my favorites. I absolutely could nitpick it to hell but it's just a breezy fun time. Last a few hours. Can get it on sale for like a buck. Love the theme with this one. Some interesting ideas too. Like the enemies hiding in the bamboo shoots. Good stuff.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →small and fun adventure that i enjoyed, one problem is a glitch that make it easy hitting enemies stun them so you spam M1 with sword at any boss and you win
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bite-sized FPS that features ninjas, ninjas, and more ninjas. Flash of the Blade X is a Retro FPS game developed by DOSMan Games using the Easy FPS Editor engine. You play as a Ninja who was betrayed by their Ninja clan and now seeks revenge. Featuring a handful of ninja weapons against a variety of sneaky ninjas with slightly tougher ninja bosses to take your ninja skills on. It greatly resembles something you might find on a Shareware floppy disk back in the day given it's artstyle, level…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like this. If you took the gameplay of Wolfenstein 3D, sped it up and changed the theme to ninjas, you'd have this game. Honestly it's a super simple first person shooter (or 'slasher' might be more accurate) that has you running around killing various ninjas with a samurai sword, throwing stars, a crossbow or sai. Absolutely great for a mindless hour or so. I spent nearly 2 hours playing, but I had to repeat about 4 levels because while the game says GAME SAVED after every…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall = 5/10 A very rudimentary but fun shooter with a simple story and a good ninja style. It has a good selection of weapons and music but the enemy types were similar and the easy difficulty offers almost no challenge. Having some stats or challenges such as kills / speed run / secrets would have been better, as it’s very short and won’t keep you playing for long.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6.5/10 - Great vibes, but master the sword and the challenge disappears. I just completed the game and wanted to share some thoughts. The core loop of running, jumping, and slashing feels excellent. You've truly mastered the "fast-paced ninja" feel. Regarding the art style and atmosphere, the music is the best part of the experience because it has a great Japanese sound that fits perfectly. Even though the graphics are simple, they have a nice charm. The levels with enemies attacking behind…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not quite ninja gaiden but cool
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Flash of the Blade X, developed and published by DOSMan Games, is a fast-paced, retro-style first-person slasher that takes heavy inspiration from classic ninja cinema and 90s-era shooters. It’s a remastered and reimagined version of an earlier DOS release by the same developer, and it wears its nostalgia proudly. Set in a stylized version of Feudal Japan, you play as a betrayed ninja warrior who embarks on a path of revenge, cutting down enemies with swift, brutal precision. While the original…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey! What can I say. It's the closest thing to feeling like a ninja in a retro game. The movement is spectacular, the weapons work super well. The atmosphere of feudal Japan fulfills its objective. It has secrets and a "Super Secret Level". The Sprites are very well done. Excellent game. Buy it and play it several times. It's worth it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →straightforward, fast paced fps with solid melee and great level design. excited for more dosman releases!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastically addictive game, nice simple vibrant graphics. Fast movement speed and a fun variety of weapons. Challenging in parts and roughly round 2 hours depending on exploration. Arcady feel and old-school style design. Highly recommend!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've always considered myself more of a pirate than a ninja. But, man this is just some old-school fun. The game takes less than an hour to finish, and the price is obviously understanding of the amount of content it has to offer. Great move by the developer, and honestly just a bunch of fun. Handful of weapons, some melee and ranged, boss fights, and some level design that manages to capture the old-school feeling while giving us some modern design to keep your from being lost all the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to be fully transparent and state that I've owned this game since its initial release and bough it with my own $2. I received the updated version of the game for free. It's not perfect but it costs $2 or less at the moment and It's full of love, authenticity, and character pouring from every pixel. Sam has been an inspiration for me to get into game dev and I love their mission statement to create short #boomershooters for the working man/woman who doesn't have a lot of time for games.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty cool, retro FPS ninja game. Looking forward to playing some more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game, totally worth the price just for how much fun it is
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like minimalistic and weird retro FPS games it's worth a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short and quite easy, charming feel and fun gunplay, and the freedom to break out of the confines of a level (pretty similar to how you can in dusk). It took me only around 20 minutes to beat this game but I can see myself playing through the whole game for fun every once and a while, would appreciate a more challenging mode though and maybe some levels with more structured level design.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tossing shurikens and slashing with the beats trying not to insta die on I believe level 7 was a vibe I wish I could get a full game experience of in a fps style similar to this or a something modern. This little game is great challenging fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's just not enough content here. Even when discounted to €1, it still feels overpriced.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You get what you pay for, and I mean that in the best way possible. This is a really short and simple FPS/hack and slash game. Aside from the rarely seen ninja theme, there isn't really anything all that special about this game, but it is quite fun for what it is. It is definitely on the easy side. There is a nice variety of weapons and feel pretty good. Decent animations, good sound effects, and enemy death sprites give a pretty visceral feel to the combat. Three melee weapons might be a bit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dosman games did it again! I love their boomer Shooters. This is very short but one of their bests. Without any doubt
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short and sweet like many of the DOSman boomer shooters. This one reminds me of Shadow Warrior a bit. This was the second one I played over Space Aliens in Space, but I think this one is better (though I'd recommend the entire catalog if you like these types of games).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/43083373/]Clever games curator review: 6/10. This is in some sense a boomer shooter, although it's really technically halfway between Wolfenstein and Doom. Except, surprise, it does allow floors on top of floors. Between how it looks and gameplay in the abstract, it's kind of surprising that it's any good at all. But in fact I enjoyed it significantly, even though I'm still kind of struggling to say why. One thing that is fairly unusual about it is…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had much fun, YES!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →That was a good bite size boomer shooter, if u want like an hour of fun boomer shooter gameplay this one does the job, solid 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really short (40 minutes) but fun bite sided boomer shooter. You can tell this is the first Dosman Games shooter since its really short and level design could be better. Action is good though and fun setting and enemies.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool minimalist shooter but extremely short
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a fun short game. best game I've played that uses the easy FPS engine. Will check out the other developers games.
