Of course, it installed it for me, which I did not want. I do not want crapware on my PC. And the game gave me QuickTime errors anyways at startup. So, I have never seen what the game looks like. I would advise you never to install this unless, of course, you love Apple crap. You already have iTunes or any other Apple products installed on your "PC". Then maybe…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game refuses to run, requires Quicktime to be installed. This isn't 1998.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shad’O: +/+ Unique setting and storytelling style. +/+ Unique use of FOW (fog of war) with towers allowing vision. +/+ Solid graphics, music, and sound effects for a TD. +/+ ‘Special battles’ that unlock rewards. +/+ Fun boss fights. +/- Very generic & limited tower options. +/- Upgrade choices are permanent. +/- Magic system requires you to actively collect mana. +/- Towers have health and can be killed (they can also be healed). -/- Lack of stats for levels limits replay value or the desire…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love tower defenses that is why I am so disappointed with this game. It's not a bad game but it lacks some basic features of any good TD, e.g. the ability for the player to change strategy or to get empowered from failure; indeed in this game should you fail a level, you have no choice but to redo it with your current set of upgrades and spells. There is no mean to upgrade unless succeeding levels, no mean to respec... Should you have made unadvised upgrade choices you are stuck with playing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Requires you to install quicktime, but doesn't work with current version. So if you already have quicktime you have to uninstall it and then install QTLite to get this game to run. If you actually need to have quicktime installed for something else to function (iTunes), QTLite will break that. Even GFWL games gave me less problems than this game. IF you can get it to run, it's a decent tower defense game. But I'd take Pixeljunk Monsters, Kingdom Rush, or even Super Sanctum TD over this,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly the game forces you to install QT, which isn't part of the minimum requirements. I find that in poor taste and can't recommened it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Never buy this game, it needs specific version of QuickTime, it will not work without this bullcrap. Plus even tho Quick Time has exploits and will put your PC at risk.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun tower defense. Requires replaying some of the scenarios until the mobs' abilities are learned. Two minor cons are apparent: Quicktime installation is required and the poor English translation of a somewhat mediocre over-arching storyline detracts from the game slightly, however the basic concept of fighting inside one's nightmares is otherwise well executed and lends itself to interesting environments. - Skinny from the Fat B*stard…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You play as pajamas dude trying to protect kingdom of dreams. Place collectors to absorb the light sources and defend yourself from the shadow beings. Game plays like your usual tower defense but you can build only close to light sources. To be honest there isn't much strategy involved - just place as many allies as you can just works fine in most cases. Story is about boy in coma who lost his memory or something like that. Visuals are ok, you can zoom in and out if you wish to see your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sucks, its broken and unplayable. asks for quciktiem which has been dead for years. and is from apple.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a fan of Tower Defense, and while Shad'O doesn't necessarily bring much new to the genre, it's a solid and extremely polished offering with a wonderful surreal setting, and great sound design. The way maps are shrouded in fog, which must be lifted by placing 'companions' (towers) allowing you to see and defend more of the map is an interesting approach, and makes for some pretty intense scenarios, where monsters move in and out of the safety of the fog. Fans of the genre should…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game cause I like TD and it looked nice. And I regret it. Story is overall so-so, game is short and pretty unbalanced. Some useless spells and helpers. And making a player to play twice (in nightmare mode 2nd time) to get a good ending? No, thank you. I've had enough. There are definitely better TD games out there.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Completely unstable on Windows 10. Also it depends on Apple Quick Time and won't run without it. Crashes before the first level ends due to some Quicktime bug. Not recommended, even if it was free.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Did not enjoy this game the slightest. Frustrating gameplay that more or less forces you to do some "Tower Juggeling" where you have to sell towers and build in new spots on almost every level. To bad for a game that has a very nice artstyle that i enjoyed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all the part that interests most buyers of this game: how to get it running. I don't know if you have to perform all the steps I performed, but it the end thats the way it worked for me. The second screen you will see when starting the screen most likely will say something like "an error has occured with quicktime. please follow these steps" or something like that. after klicking OK you will be directed to a website, that tells you how to get the game running. there you also find a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game requires you to install an archaic third party program. It wants to install quicktime. Installing it doesn't make the game run. This is unplayable. Avoid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ensure that your eyes are nearly 100% closed while playing this game, and you will be well-prepared. Trust me, this strategy has proven to be highly effective for me in this game. It appears that my primary purpose for being born is to reach this moment and give this game a try. Please make arrangements for a casket now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is asking for QuickTime to be installed before it runs. Installing QuickTime doesn't fix the issue of the game not starting. That's before you even look at the massive security QuickTime as old unsupported software with security flaws published.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only real con I have with this game is that everything is sooooo slooooooow. There are only two speeds, very slow and less slow - and even with them I have tons of time just sitting and waiting. Even the map and menus are slow, lots of unnecessarily slow animations for things you have to see many, many times. Other than that, the game is fine - well made, runs well on my machine, cute, and balanced - but sooooo slow.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't see that it needs quicktime. I don't install quicktime in my pc... ever.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →stay away, couldnt get game to run even after i followed the suggested fixs. You have to download stuff to get it to run and even after that i still couldnt get it to run
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are few games that I find myself unwilling and unable to complete. This is one of them. It has an interesting mechanic of territory control (pushing shadows back with your imaginary tower-friends), and it creates a nice sombre tone with its cut-scene art. However, it is ultimately a tower defense game that lacks player-friendliness and failed to have an impact on me. Skill points that you allocate are absolutely permanent. If you find yourself unhappy or unable to progress because of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quicktime? Quicktime is in the RECOMMENDED section, and yet the game will just exit if it's not installed. My "problem" with Quicktime is that I will never install that piece of crap. Then, the developers suggest QT Lite, which is weird at best after the devs pulled some shady stunt 4 years ago. Okugi : VLC supports Quicktime. If you are married to Quicktime, why not try to offer a free, open source alternative at least? Or offer the chance to skip the video in game? This is a mess. Shame…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shad'O is a tower defense game where you protect a young boys psyche from dream invaders. It's an unusual theme for a tower defense game, and I wish I could have explored the game a bit further to see if it checked all the tick boxes for being an okay PC game, but unfortunately it failed the very first test, something I think everyone will agree is a requirement for a video game: Does it launch? No. Shad'O fails to launch because of a Quicktime (yes, Apples terrible movie player from the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm generally not a fan of tower defense games and didn't know that this was one going in and so I was somewhat saddened to find that this was tower defense. However, the story creates a lot of mystery and the art is compelling thus making this a tower defense I will find myself coming back to.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This would be a real fun game, if it were playable. The devs really need to work on this and put out an effective patch with some good programming behind it to optimise performance. Without this the game is unplayable and will die, which would be a shame. The basic problem is that the mouse moves like a slug and destroys all enjoyment, replacing fun with frustration. It is a pretty game, but really not very high end and should not be experiencing these technical probelms. Compare it to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tower defense with fog, and bonus challenge maps. Terrible acting, pretty graphics, you know, we've seen it all before. [Rating: 65/100]
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate tower defenses
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable. The game crashes at the end of the second level every time I try to play it. The Steam Community has a note from 2012 about it, and no fix.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →uhh hang on *pretends to muck about with a QuickTime reinstallation so I can play a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tower defense game* ok well i uhh played this game, and didn't just accidentally sit at the graphics settings popup for ten minutes while being distracted with other stuff, only to find I needed to reinstall QuickTime so this game can figure out what the towers look like or whatever. So, having played this game, which I've done (I've done the action of playing the game - I haven't done the game), I can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cannot be played due to a crash at the end of level two (also reported by other players). Reinstall, verify etc does not help. Be wary of this product.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice Tower defense game for younger people.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not much of a tower defence player, but the quaint style of this game got me interested. However this is not for the faint hearted, one the easiest setting I struggled my way through the game and was unable to finish all the special missions. The level design and gameplay is great, I throughly enjoyed it. The story is interesting and what seems obvious at first turns out not to be so obvious. The voice acting is a little off-kilter but quirkishly amusing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TOWER DEFENSE we need more like this
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy this garbage it requires some specific version of QuickTime which is long dead and full of exploits that put you PC at risk
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lots of cool ideas for a tower defense game. Namely the MMO-style boss fights, fog of war mechanic and unique bonus stages. The difficulty spikes can be discouraging at first, but knowing which spells and companions to pick and upgrade is the key to get through the campaign. It's a solid experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GAme doesn't even start.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are an apple cultist then you can buy it. You will be totally happy with another overpriced junk on your computer. Your brain will be more and more converted to the Steve Jobs/Mac/Apple trinity as this is totally in the mentality of Apple products : overpriced, dysfunctional, forced painfully in the a** while you applaud with a dumb smile in front of a Steve Jobs pic. Yeah. It could have been fun if this Quicktime forced install crap wasn't there. Once I finally managed to make the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid tower defense game that should not be overlooked! The story is okay but where it really shines is in it's gameplay and the theme. It plays surprisingly well and it's overall mood just take you in. Great for Tower Defense fanatics and the like!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game to own for tower defence type games, nice game mechanics gets taxing later on, but in all a good game to play. Reccommend it to Tower Defence fans!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly well made tower defense game. The story is weird and the (I'm guessing) French to English translation seems pretty bad, but that's easy to overlook considering how well done the gameplay is. If you like tower defense games, this is highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game, can be tricky to stop leaking
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Built into this bog-standard tower defense game is a great story of a young boy fighting to regain his memories. The dream world, where the action takes place, is moulded by William's experiences and reflects a mind shrouded in the dark fog of forgetfulness. All this is visualised using beautiful 3D graphics painted with the stark contrasts between colourful innocence of childhood and bleak grey of memory loss. The bland and boring tower defense mechanics are spiced up a little through…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm sitting in the middle on this one. Made from a small indie team they certainly did a decent job. Probably the best story ever in TD game. However, some small issues can make the game somewhat tedious. There is no speed up button. But in saying this a lot of the maps are covered by fog of war so that until you place a tower you cannot see. This makes the hardest difficulty quite interesting and therefor you probably don't want to speed things up. Slightly different towers, but not a very…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shad'O is a very nice tower defense game developed by a French gaming company. I'm about halfway through the game right now and I've found it to be very enjoyable. Controlling the friends of the young boy William, you need to fight back the darkness which has enveloped his memories. Graphically, this game is wonderful. The maps are dark, a little creepy, and at the same time accessible to younger players. The towers have a cartoony, quilted, stuffed animal look to them which fits very well into…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shad’O, developed and published by Okugi Studio, is a tower defense game that seeks to merge strategic gameplay with the atmosphere of a dark fairy tale. Set within the mind of a young boy named William, the game unfolds as he becomes trapped in a dreamlike realm consumed by shadows. Guided only by his loyal teddy bear, he must illuminate forgotten corners of his memory and fend off the creeping darkness that threatens to erase him completely. The story’s concept is both haunting and tender,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Couldn't remember why I hid this game from my account then checked the discussions and got reminded that it forces us to open our computers to hackers by autoinstalling Quicktime. If a game can't run without such a dangerous requirement, it shouldn't be on Steam.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
