unlabelledView post →Just finished my fifth game of the excellent new General Orders: Sengoku Jidai! Beautifully produced (cute wooden ships!), intensely tactical, and well paced. Thanks to @djackthompson.bsky.social, @trevormbenjamin.bsky.social, and @ospreygames.bsky.social for another wonderful design.
unlabelledView post →Played my first game of General Orders: Sengoku Jidai by @djackthompson.bsky.social and @trevormbenjamin.bsky.social with my daughter. She won on the tie breaker. Such a compact, but deep game. Thank you for the reveiw copy, @ospreygames.bsky.social. Review to follow. 😃👍 #ProudDad #boardgames

unlabelledView post →Nioh 2 is a fantastic game that also asks 'Have you ever wanted to have a soulful best friends to foes arc with Toyotomi Hideyoshi during the Sengoku Jidai and to see the pain in his eyes when you face each other as adversaries? Well your shitty uncle is here to make that happen'

unlabelledView post →New from Game Journal - it’s Gunyuu Sengoku Jidai (SENGOKU RIVALS)! Take charge of one of six factions in the struggle to unify Japan. Simple rules with a bit of historical flavor - we learned and finished a three player game in just over two hours. First to ten areas wins!
unlabelledView post →10 - GENERAL ORDERS: WORLD WAR II (Osprey Games) - Oh so tiny and good. A diddy little box with a great tactical war game in. Storm a Pacific island or capture an Alpine redoubt. Two players and the right size to take to the pub. There's also Sengoku Jidai which I haven't played, but looks great...

unlabelledView post →Saturday evening provided an oppurtunity for a Sengoku Jidai game using #DBA & #15mm miniatures. Both commanders were determined in their attacks. Samurai, ashigaru & hastily raised town militia, were locked in sustained combat as the lines moved back & forth across fields borded by hills & hamlet.
unlabelledView post →@ospreygames.bsky.social General Orders - Sengoku Jidai. Looking fresh here at #gencon Picking up a copy, demos are available. Game will release early September this year #boardgames.

unlabelledView post →Creative Assembly has an old Sengoku Jidai video game. In a recent PR video, one of the team says Kaiyoto for Kyoto. You used to hear that all the time but it felt like Kyoto had become one of those global place names which native English speakers know. Seems not.
unlabelledView post →In a break from the norm, I've managed to be sociable twice in the last week; catching up with friends and get a few board games in. Sengoku Jidai by Osprey, 7 Wonders Duel, The Star Wars Deckbuilder and some new Arkham Horror. All round normal fun! #boardgames #tabletopgaming #StarWars #7Wonders

unlabelledView post →Same! One of my favorite FGO trends from years back was when people were making threads talk about their favorite's history and/or lore and how the game reflected it. Was fun doing even more research on Nobunaga and the Sengoku Jidai for that.

unlabelledView post →I'm excited to see your Sengoku Jidai (or is it more precisely an Ashikaga Jidai) game when that gets cooked!
unlabelledView post →Yeah; China has the Three Kingdoms period, Japan has the Sengoku Jidai. Those are usually the heavy hitters for game lore for any game studios to make. Hopefully if this new game succeed, it can be a proof of concept so that more developers will pick up Joseon as a setting.
unlabelledView post →It's already planned for end of the year release for #CrusaderKings3 #AllUnderHeaven It's not an action-adventure game but probably the only way I can see right now bringing Joseon, Sengoku Jidai, and Celestial Empire into one game without favouring any one country or kingdom.
unlabelledView post →Ha! Reminds me, going back to GBoH for a moment, of the "bundori" counters in "Samurai" and "Ran". Those, of course, are the severed heads so beloved as trophies by samurai of the Sengoku Jidai. Or the severed-head counters so thoughtfully provided with SPI's "Gondor" game...
unlabelledView post →Sengoku Jidai was rough It had so much death, destruction, and sad endings. And mfers wanna see it in a tv show Game of thrones got nothing on this, but Samurai Warriors gives you a gist
unlabelledView post →Quite funny Sengoku Jidai podcast. The interviewer is desperately trying to present a 'video game' view of the period with ninja and samurai. The interviewed historian patiently explains that most of this stuff was later invention. open.spotify.com/episode/4F42...
unlabelledView post →Yeah, you can get base game of Sengoku Jidai (focusing on Japan) for $10. There’s DLC to add in the Ming and Manchu. Korea too I believe.
unlabelledView post →Yeah, Pike and Shot really scratches a nice itch. I also like their Sengoku Jidai game.
unlabelledView post →Mahjong Sengoku Jidai is another Mahjong game, but this time for the SEGA Master System. One of the few Master System games not to make it out of Japan.
unlabelledView post →I can somewhat understand why these games have been forgotten for 20 years. They're deeply Japanese, both in their use of the Sengoku Jidai period, the very regional star power of Takeshi Kaneshiro, and even the lite arcade mentality of its game design.
unlabelledView post →One side was on the side of the Nazis and that the side he likes. Only difference he knows beyond flags and a game map. If you were to ask him about the Qing Dynasty or the Sengoku Jidai he’d stare at you with the look of a walleyed fish and say “Wot?”
unlabelledView post →I'm having a little Minecraft phase again bc there's a mod that really changes the way you play the game. It's called Sengoku Jidai (the mod, not datapack) and it's historical Japan themed and it really well made, there's so much stuff that there's a long list of changes and additions. -

unlabelledView post →Pretty objectively terrible ad kicked off the reveal of Sega Master System in Japan in October 1987, featuring Alien Syndrome / SDI / Zaxxon 3D / Mahjong Sengoku Jidai. Not sure if the concept of "killer app" type game was centralized yet, "arcade style FM sound at home" a tag line used #sega
unlabelledView post →It’s easy to look at the spectacular and messy failure of the #TokugawaShogunate in the wake of literal (steam) gunboat diplomacy but let’s not forget that they managed TWO F*CKING CENTURIES OF PEACE after the chaos of the #SengokuJidai. I think that deserves a fair bit of credit, myself, for what little my opinion is worth. 😄

unlabelledView post →Thankfully for that, next expansion is likely to be either Meracydia, Hingashi, or the Void, and I'd imagine the glam sets in the game will look very different once we get to Dark Italy, the Sengoku Jidai, or Bizarre Fantasy Australia.
