They appeared briefly in the original game, but Remix gave me an opportunity to give them a proper spotlight. Left to right that's Blitz, Breaker and Flash. #pixelart

I'll brag here, but yes I know, time to bump up the difficulty ;)

unlabelledView post →Back in 2012 we took on side-gigs to fund #Owlboy. Our collab with #Savant started here. @snakepixel.art got working on cover-art for Vario, Alchemist, Cult and Protos! Savant's manager suggested: "Why don't you make a game outta these?" That's how our debut title Savant - Ascent (2013) came about.
unlabelledView post →The game is Savant - Ascent, a #shmup / scroller shooter starring an acrobatic wizard on a elevator ride. Along the way, you'll fight hordes of robots, Laser Sharks and an immortal Samurai in deep-space 🌠 You'll be able to grab enemies, absorb their powers - and pelt meteors at unsuspecting foes.

unlabelledView post →We got paid to develop Savant - Ascent in 5 weeks - a free-to-play mobile game purely to promo Savant's music. Days ahead of launch, we showed em the result. Savant's manager begged us to atleast charge a couple of $$$ for the title! This move ended up fully funding #Owlboy right up til launch! 💙
unlabelledView post →A fairly cheap game, with very good graphics and very funky and good music too, but I didn't like its playability at all, I found it repetitive and crude. It is boring to be able to be alone in two points of the screen, and the fact of not being able to see where the attacks are coming from, because they are out of the scene, I don't like it either. I did not like. I do not recommend it. 3/5 Hey, if this review has been useful to you, you could follow me on:…

unlabelledView post →I've been playing Savant - Ascent REMIX, which is a new version of @dpad.studio's first game. It's a wave-based twin stick shooter where you play as a musician alchemist that fights robots and laser sharks. If that sounds like it goes hard, that's because it does. youtu.be/ejv03bNHx4Y?...

unlabelledView post →Very satisfying little game that i guess could be described as a platform shooter? it's quite unique i haven't really ran into anything else like it but i wish some more stuff similar was out there. It's not really a platformer in the traditional sense, you're standing on a fixed area that you jump and roll around on to dodge the incoming waves of enemies as the platform ascends a tower. It's relatively simple but the shooting feels great and responsive. You earn powerups throughout different…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a shmup and arena shooter fan, Savant looked to be right up my alley. Initially, I was amused by its frantic action and gorgeous visuals, but the more I played it, the more apparent its utter shallowness became. Story mode consists of all of two stages and a boss fight, and the other modes of play don't offer much more. Time Attack is simply a race to complete story mode as fast as you can in one life, and it's Endless Mode where the reality of this game's deficiencies really starts to creep…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is one of my most favorites and this one I definitely recommend to you all, it truly is a masterpiece, shame many do not know of it's existence still. Please give this game a try/chance it's really fun. Btw, when dealing with wyrms coming your way you don't have to have the bar fully charged up to scare those type of enemies away you can have it at like one bar and still scare 'em away from you also instead of spinning in place or killing other enemies or even collecting discs normal…

It is part of Tier 15. There are 25 tiers and 596 games in the list #PixelRankings

They recently remade it, so it might be even better, but it was already bumping before that. dpad.studio/savantascent/

unlabelledView post →Clunky unresponsive controls that are inconsistent in what they do Extremely short game - finished everything in less than hour Boring and barely incremental power / ability upgrades Good music and visuals on the character and environments, not so much the enemies or graphical effects. Can't argue with the price for the game, but the controls being so limited and inconsistent really killed it for me.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I became so powerful that the game crashed. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game, but it takes less than 1h to beat it as it only has 3 levels and a few enemies and it only takes even that long because some powers are locked and you need to unlock them first.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its really REALLY short without the dlc buts totally worth the money excellent pixel art and solid gameplay-loop

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly this year is the best so far when it comes to gaming, I was so happy when the anniversary edition was announced! I played this game on Mobile and PC 5 times at the very least and I cannot wait to do it all again but this time newer! Thank you for not abandoning this game Savant and D-Pad studios! !!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a fantastic experience. Savant and a fast paced Arcade style game go hand in hand perfectly. Excellent game, excellent asking price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, super fun, incredible soundtrack and cool visuals/art.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good quick short game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's Ok. Music is obviously the strong point with this game, no doubt. Graphics are nice pixel style with some hand rendered TLC being obvious. Gameplay though? Not so much. Field of view is artificially limited along the vertical axis and there is no ability to zoom out/in. Therefore, you are left to change your shooting direction just to see what's going on. At least until later that's true. Then you also only have a limited number of positions at one time (3 - in air, left, right)…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2. Savant Ascent REMIX, I got this game during Christmas from a friend and I played through since it was a short game and I hella enjoyed it a lot with it's music and its twin-stick shooter game play. My favorite part is when you get a hit of the 1000 kills the alchemist will just dance I love it.
unlabelledView post →Hit them up. I've played Savant Ascent since the VERY BEGINNING! It's a fun game, and their recent remix made it even better!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of these days I'll give the Remix version a shot. It's a pretty cool game that's really driven by an exceptional soundtrack. Fast paced action, great art too.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good concept but this game is 6 minutes long. (It took me 25 minutes because I died a few times.)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When you discover a banger artist on the internet, and end up digging into the rabbit hole only to find gold, it leaves a mark, for sure. Savant came out of nowhere, in a youtube video outro, and felt curious, which is rare. After listening to the latest albums at the time, I discovered this little game and decided to give it a go, especially with how cheap it was. I spent so much time on it, and honestly, I have no regrets: it may be a short, simple game with a whole "high scoring infinite…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its only crime is that I want MORE! This doesn't really need an in-depth review at this pricetag - drop your morning snack and pick this up for yourself! You can get the """base""" experience within half an hour, but the true gem lies in what comes after. Much like Vampire Survivors, this is a game about replay-ability and extra modes/challenges. It is a ridiculously gorgeous immobile platform shooter with a simple "dodge" mechanic that lends itself ridiculously well to its fun and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3 stages. bullet hell.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! Very simple but quite interesting mechanics. The main part of the game isn't actually the story mode, but the endless once you've unlocked every power up! It's also got a BANGER ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ soundtrack you shouldn't skip on. The 10 minutes achievement is quite hard, and I have a bunch more playtime cause I failed once at 9:51 lol. I'm happy to be done with it now Either way, great game, definitely pick it up, even out of sale !
