positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm kinda desensitized to horror games but this game had a few tricks up its sleeve that took me by surprise. I like how the game doesn't waste any time with pointless features which add nothing useful to the overall gameplay, thus it's a pretty enjoyable butter smooth experience with amazing-looking graphics and great story. It's good to point out the story itself isn't the longest as it easily takes less than an hour and half to beat. It's definitely worth giving the game a shot when you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels familiar and predictable rather than fresh, but it still offers a polished horror experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A walking Simulator horror (simple puzzles). The price is too high as the duration of the game is around 2 hours and the soundtrack is non-existent except for the final part. Easy to get achievements. 7/10 my rating

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please believe the negative reviews. This game is simply not good and does not deserve the 10$ price tag it has. It is one of those simple cookie cutter unity asset horror games where it tries to emulate what Layers of Fear has done, but does it way worse. I am honestly kinda getting sick and tired of the unity asset horror game boom we are seeing these days (there's only one game that came out recently who i felt did it right and that is Nebraska). Many of the negative reviews say that the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is NOT psychological horror in the slightest - what you get is cheap jump scares, a poorly told and entirely predicable story, and low effort scene design. Another classic example of extreme marketing embellishment; take everything written on the store page and dial it significantly back and you get this game. Might be worth about a dollar for the entire 90 minutes you will spend stumbling through this 'experience'. A 1 out of 10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Psychological horror focused on exploration, with a few jumpscares, a few very simple puzzles, good graphics, creepy vibe and interesting albeit cliche story. Reminds me of Layers of Fear but with less interactions, puzzles and achievements. It's also much shorter. I think the price is decent for the amount of content and quality. Overall a good game in the genre. Some people reported some issues in discussions like bugs and glitches, but there doesn't seem to be any major problems. I…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a cautious recommendation. I mostly enjoyed my time with this game. There are some good scares (and some cheap ones), and the various environmental changes keep things fresh, even when you revisit previous locations. There's not really any exploration to be had, so it's a pretty linear experience. The music, sound design, and visuals are quite nice, but the voice acting is definitely not a highlight. Part of that is the writing. I'm not sure what the native language of the developer…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short, shallow, predictable, disconnected, limited, repetitive. What the gameplay consists out of: - Collecting rubber ducks, go figure... - Collecting random papers (Low budget constraints.) - Watching flashbacks in the form of the new walking simulator trend. - Opening and closing doors AND drawers (You get an achievement for this...) - Walking. - Solving light, linear puzzles. - Jumpscares! It's a Layers Of Fear style Corridor Jumpscare Ride. Now with even less substance. Majority of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SERIOUSLY!!!! This game has ZERO texture or shadow pop in's where i expected them to be, but high profiled games has them in all the time!! i don't understand how they manage it, it annoys me. This game is fantastic, excellent music and some very good jump scares so far, i had to write this review quick as i feel like high profiled games can't do what this game does! Very well done and thank you team! 9/10 Review update on completion - This is a very good game, very good game, thank you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all this is not a "game" in my opinion, its a 1.5 hour long "interactive audiovisual presentation." Think of "Linger in Shadows" on PS3. I mean technically there is "gameplay", it does have a few puzzles to solve but most often its as simple as seeing a message telling you to go to a room for a code, the using the code somewhere near. But for the most part, you are just walking around while complete random dream logic stuff happens around you, sometimes an explosion of teddy bears will…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cannot even explain how much I enjoyed this game. The game is really beautiful to look at. It has loads of jump scares, but it's not a horror game and nothing that will haunt you during the night. If you do not like horror games, this game will still be fun to play, as every time you react to the jump scare you start to giggle, cause you should've seen it coming. This game left me wanting more!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before playing this game, I read a lot of comments mentioning “cheap jump scare,” and I disagreed with them. For me, there's no such thing as a cheap jump scare. Maybe people call it that because it’s overused, but a jump scare is a jump scare, if it startles me, it’s good enough. This game, however, proved me wrong and made me regret ever thinking that. There really is such a thing as a freakin’ cheap, lazy jump scare. The kind that either makes you laugh or yawn. Most of the maps are nicely…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Saw the twist coming from a mile away. When you make a walking sim you could at least try to make the story worth experiencing. A few creative jumpscares here and there but it's mostly a dull experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on Linux, Do like this Game, you should get an hour or more out of this Game, but does have replay value, Walking Sim, Find objects, Read Notes, Lite Adventure Game, Good Story, Good Voice Acting, Good Game Play, Nice Graphics, Good Sound, Nice Music at the end of the Game, Does have some jump scares and some loud sound effects, The Game is getting on now and was released in 2018 so best to wait for the Game to go on sale, Linux version runs great on my RTX 2060 with maxed out settings.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't really say it was bad. Just that it wasn't very good. It felt more like a student's art project than a game - testing out various mechanics and visual techniques. The translation to English was also very awkward with its grammar, which broke immersion somewhat. They clearly made an effort to make a genuine game with a complete storyline, but it still came off as somewhat unfinished and simplistic. Wait for a sale if you're curious.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good short Horror-Game. I did not have any problems going through it. The map design is beautiful but very linear, aswell as the whole game experience. I could not get over the fact how huge this dude's garden is lmao I would recommend it, since the story is interesting and the game itself looks beautful as mentioned before. But I finished it in ~2h and had all achievements shortly after. I took my time going through it and trying to find every item in my first walkthrough.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rise of Insanity tells a story about someone with mental health issues using some very interesting and diverse scenery. While the story is quite cliche (as with most games in this genre), I think it had enough details and background to it to make it decent and interesting. Graphics are very good. Sometimes realistic, sometimes twisted and distorted. Jump scares are rare and effective. The game relies more on exploration of the story and interesting visuals, less on raw graphical horror. At…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not the worst game I've played, but in term of horrors, it felt so flat. Graphics are okay, sound environment could use more work, but it's not bad(I didn't play in VR) Story though? I might have played too many horror games, but I guessed most of the plot twist, I kid you not, first note of the game. It could be okay in games where the story is not one of the main pillars, but in this game it was supposed to be. Because none of the jumpscares are scary, well timed, or bringing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little game. Graphics aren't the greatest, but the setting and decor is done very well. The atmosphere is well created and the story unravels in an unusual way, just as your own mental state is both unravelling and coming to the conclusions it needs to reach. Unfortunately both the text and the voice acting are a little stilted and contain numerous spelling/grammatical errors, to the point that it often feels rushed or poorly translated into English. But that's definitely its biggest…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Visually stunning & creepy walking simulator with minimal gameplay interaction. Story is average. Probably would be worth a shot to see how immersive it is in VR. But, I cannot recommend. A game should be interactive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game turned out to be more of a psychological thriller than a horror, and the (jump)scares left me cold, but nevertheless was it gripping enough for me to nót lose interest for a single moment, apart from maybe 1 or 2 times where I couldn't find something that was needed to progress ... Stories of this kind are a dime a dozen, but 'Mind & Soul'-topics always intrigue me, and as an explorer, I must say I found the attention for detail — especially referring to interesting posters on walls —…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game invites players to step into the shoes of Dr Stephen Dowell, a man who spends a fair amount of his professional life probing the psyche of his patients. Without giving too much away, in the game, you’ll dive deep into the fractured mind of a man who’s experiencing quite a few mental issues — none of them comforting but fails to do the most important thing: tell a story that truly chills the blood. Best Thing about the game is that Jump scares will make you jump :P that also may catch…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Plays similar to Layers of Fear, if a little more budget. Good atmosphere, imagery, & some interesting ideas, though short & a rushed ending. The game holds its own especially with sound design (a good soundtrack in its own right) & solid graphics. The game is essentially a walking sim with little to do but poke around - but it executes it well. The game can still be enjoyed if the story is glossed over, but other than how rapid & abstract the ending is, it serves to enhance the experience…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best horror games I have ever played. This game has an amazing atmosphere, a lot of great jumpscares, that appear when you least expect it, and an amazing story. I give this game a 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WOW (some) SPOILERS AHEAD BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! It starts well, then the plot starts developing and it's very predictable, the ambience sort of dies midway, has some of the goofiest scenes I've seen in a horror game (particularly the ones with the bird man, I could not stop laughing when I saw him playing the piano). It has some "interesting" puzzles, the hardest one being a morse code. That one was the best one and I say so because it's the only one I remember doing. Game is VERY, VERY…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rise of Insanity gave me strong Shutter Island vibes (the Leonardo DiCaprio movie), especially in how the story slowly messes with your head. It’s a psychological horror game that focuses more on atmosphere, story, and perspective. It’s more about unease, confusion, and piecing things together as you move forward. The environments and narrative do a good job of keeping you curious about what’s actually going on. Gameplay is short, roughly 2 hours, worth a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →my wife is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sexy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little game, easy to play in one sitting (around 90 mins). It’s a clear love letter to layers of fear but it isn’t as intense or as well built. The scares are very predictable and I guessed where the story was going within the first half of the game. Saying that I really enjoyed the game but it is a little expensive for what it is. It’s definitely worth picking up on sale or as part of a bundle.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has its moments, but ultimately it’s a mixed bag of highs and lows. Starting with the positives, the environment design initially impressed me. The early sections were thoughtfully crafted but later things stated making a little less sense. Additionally, the lower-quality models became increasingly noticeable in the brighter sections of the game. What might have been acceptable in dimly lit environments felt jarring under direct light, pulling me out of the experience, specifically…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is not bad, but I can't say it's good either. Bad things first: gameplay is way too simple. You get to a new area and find some object that triggers something. A phone rings, or a door appears. Pick up the phone or open the door, and you'll finish that area. You'll repeat this while constantly jumping through 3 different areas: a house, a hospital and a garden. The jump scares are annoying and predictable. There are just too many loud noises and stuff falling in front of you.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rise of Insanity is a walking simulator with psychological horror and limited gameplay elements. If this sounds exciting to you, you might as well check it out sometime. While I liked some puzzles and eastereggs, the limited gameplay wasn't enough to warrant a positive review from me.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Horror psychology walking simulator
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It`s not as scary as I thought (thinking of the title and pictures), but it`s a good game with a interesting story and a few jump scares. A psychological story about the human depths. All in first person.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →absolute cinema !! blurred the line between determination and obstinacy. love love love the graphics and story progression as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →in one word: unimpressed. this game bombards the player with the cheapest, stupidest, opposite-to-scary jumpscares which makes it so boring. it tries so desperately to scare you, at one point I thought about gasping (if anything) just to make it feel a bit better for its efforts. but gosh just think... if you make a game where EVERYTHING is 'scary', nothing is. as expected, the woman is reduced to being a male's wife, a male's mother, a murder victim (in the hands of a male). the full…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice game! pretty short even if you try to unlock every achievement (would say around 2 hours, took me little less than that). i like the graphics, it looks good and has really good lightning. good little details. only downside to me is that the story is overall predictable, therefore it makes the tension in the plot less interesting. would still give it a solid 7/10 i think, it's a nice experience into someone's troubled mind and the scary job was well done. not everything has to be deeply…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rise of Insanity starts off well. It is even kind of unnerving in the beginning. Until you realize it is just a walking sim with predictable jump scares where nothing can hurt you unless you intentionally walk into very clearly telegraphed kill fields. Visually, the game has a clean aesthetic that works, but I wish it would not alternate pitch black areas with blinding white spotlights. So called puzzles are basically the player finding an item required to proceed in very small enclosed…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent game, not long enough, really. Much more story that could have been explored. Pacing was good and kept interest peaked. Would love to see more like this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a walking simulator, less gameplay than SOMA. Very flat story, no interactivity with the levels, and NO enemy AI. Very little redeeming qualities, only the voice acting is somewhat decent. It plays and looks like an asset flip. Would not recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went in with no expectations and was surprised by how great this storytelling horror game is. At its core, it’s a tragic story inspired by real-life experiences. The jump scares were solid, and the atmosphere kept me fully immersed. There were only a couple of moments where I got stuck, not because of the game, but because I missed an item twice. Should’ve paid closer attention!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is just wasting of time. it has no clue and nothing related on the story. once you see yourself in the garden , once on hospital , once on the house . you gonna feel like you're crazy i don't recommend this game for anyone.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Light horror game but the story is fascinating in the end.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the Game is so nice. i love the music and Story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10/7 The beginning 10/5 Ending 10/7 story Actually scary
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bugged piece of junk. First of all the Linux/SteamOS version doesn't work at all, the game doesn't even starts, so if you're trying to buy it because it has Linux compatibility just don't. I had to use Proton to make it run, and after less than an hour I got stuck on a simple room with no way to get out since the game just bugged out, after several tries and restarts I just gave up. It's just a poorly optimized janky piece of junk.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Uet anothert walking simulator haunted house where the father has murdered his family and you partipate in a touchathon wherte you open every drawer and cupboard to play out the echoes of the tragedy. Definitely eerie and spooky with lights out / headset on...but predictable and repetitive . NOt as good as Layers of fear...definitely lacks the comfort of that. But I guess the industry has a fascination with murders families Edit: Just fin8ished. This game is so boring. It really steals every…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so boring and the story makes no sense. It seems like they just threw a bunch of creepy imagery together and though that it would be cool to add it all together into a game, but there is no context to what you are seeing. There are no enemies. No ghosts or demons, just walking and solving easy puzzles that even someone with down syndrome could solve. I would not recommend this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you ever seen the movie from 2016 "Split"? This is how can i describe this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice short game, but made with dubious decisions, like overbundant postprocessing, that ruined it for me. Layers of Fear on a budget, 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on Quest-2. Nice psychological horror, with lots of jump scares - nice done!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Three of Five Stars Summary: An easy game.... short walking simulator with a few jump-scares and mild puzzles. Taking my time and exploring every corner of each level, I completed this in 2 hours and 30 minutes. The Good: I love the art. Story was interesting, and not quite what I may have otherwise expected. Some creepy moments, and one (maaayyybeeeee two) jump-scares, though I think the wanted more. My Issues/problems: -The mouse kept jumping around which could cause me to suddenly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game, Rise of Insanity, is definitely a horror game that involves the psyche. Recommended to those that have epilepsy or triggers to flashing of seizures, do not play. That is my warning to you. Those that have a trigger to blood being everywhere or a fear of being a bird and flying, do not play this game. This game has many jump scares if you scare easily. Without giving away the games detail. I will say that in this game, you will be playing as the main character who is suffering in…
