Over the course of the game, the time travel mechanics get used less and less (they're entirely absent in chapters 5 and 6, and there's only a token of them in chapter 7). Up to chapter 4, it's an absolute blast. Past that point, it's still decent, although chapter 7 needs patience more than anything else. Overall... Gameplay (first half): 8/10 Gameplay (second half): 6/10 Story: 9/10, I liked the aesthetic and the characters. Not perfect,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man this bums me out because this game starts so strongly, i love the gimmick of the main character remembering things to solve puzzles, and the characters are all pretty great. But it all goes south when the game decides after 3 or 4 chapters "hang on, we don't want do the gimmick anymore, here's some switch puzzles and some badly excuted stealth sections" It wouldn't even be that bad if it didn't go on for the entire rest of the game. in conclusion it's only worth it for the first couple of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ENG: What a sadness to finish this game, is one of those that you don't want it to end, the story lasts between 7 and 8 hours, which is great, a masterpiece in my opinion, the gameplay of the puzzles fits perfectly with the narrative, and the sound is exquisite, I highly recommend it, 10/10 I would erase my memory to enjoy it again. ESP: Que tristeza terminar este juego, es de esos que no queres que se acabe, la historia dura entre 7 y 8 horas, la cual es genial, una obra maestra en mi…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept of this game is great! The demo does an excellent job at showcasing that. However, the actual content of the game is lacking. But first, let's talk about the elephant in the room: the soft-locking, save-file bugs. When you load up the chapters in the middle, some bits of the gameplay directly conflict with each other, making it impossible to proceed. Sometimes you can work up the patience to replay the whole chapter. Other times, unfortunately, you're out of luck. So why not just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Truly a marvelous work, one that stays with you for a long time. The visual style, the narrative, the characters, the music, the whole game is a collection of incredibly well done and lovingly crafted parts. The memory shaping mechanic itself is handled in a unique and interesting way, with variety in the gameplay that makes it not monotonous. Again, the characters are fantastic, each one recognizable, with unique personalities, narrative arcs, very well handled interactions, I'd say that's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The power of retconning the story is great and definitely the driving factor of why I've bought this game. Then, got into the story and liked it. Unfortunately, I was sad that the later chapters removed this retcon aspect and focus on stealth, simple switch puzzle solving and a very tedious game mechanic near the end. Yet, overall, I'd say that the story and game mechanics from the 4 first chapters were enough to carry the rest and made me recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting and unique story-driven mystery game about manipulating the past to affect the present. The characters and their interactions are compelling and the puzzles and mysteries are fun to untangle. Due to how the gameplay revolves around rewriting timelines to correct mistakes it is inherently very trial-and-error-based, but because individual choices and dead ends often reveal puzzle pieces and character information you hardly ever notice and it never becomes frustrating. I enjoyed my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the demo and loved it. I saw other reviews warn that gameplay changes halfway through, but I didn't give them enough heed. So let me be more explicit. Chapters 1-4 use the fun mechanic of making choices to change the narrative. Then chapter 5 is a massive, tedious labyrinth of sneaking past guards with flashlights. Chapter 6 was narrative (no complaints from me, actually). Then chapter 7 was more sneaking past guards with flashlights in an annoying switch puzzle labyrinth. And…

unlabelledView post →Well. This is one of those games that makes me wish for a "neutral" recommended option on steam. RE:CALL is not a bad game, far from it, but... It's not quite a "good" game either. The concept is great! Well. Starts great. The first half of the game handles it fairly well, and explores it quite a bit. The second half, becomes a slog. The usage of the core mechanic, the namesake of the game, is barely even present in the second half of the game. They try exploring other ideas... but those wind…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to like this game, but the puzzles are just too dang hard. It has an extremely strong and interesting start, but the lack of clear puzzle mechanics and the point-and-click style design to them finally killed it for me in the fourth chapter when there were just too many factors for me to take in. Pacing is critical for a narrative focused game, and convoluted puzzles negatively impact that pacing. It's a shame because Re:Call is actually very well written, and if the developer had…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR The Good - Interesting core mechanic to center around puzzles. - Compelling themes in the story. - Unique visual style. The Bad - The story suffers from pacing issues, specially towards the end. - While the major chracters are explored well enough, some secondary characters end up undercooked. The ???? - It's not a particularly long game, it can be done in two sittings, one if you're willing to strech on it. Full Re:Call is a game that, in a twist not unlike Undertale's, aknowledges…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been waiting for the game to come out ever since I've played the demo and I'm so amazed. The characters are interesting and have depth. The puzzles are intriguing, not too hard to be frustrating but challenging enough to keep you thinking. The art looks nice and well-made. I like the story the most, I can't really explain without mentioning spoilers but it is fascinating how everything is connect together. I wish it could be a little longer but I'm satisfied with the game. Overall, this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fresh exciting story that will keep you wondering from start to finish! Highly recommend to anyone who loves puzzles and story telling! 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first chapter was fantastic, I really enjoyed the use of choose-your-own-adventure type history manipulation, and was looking forward to seeing it deployed more to tell the story. Unfortunately, it goes downhill from there. I came close to bailing during chapter 5 with all the tediously long electric barrier stealth sections, but managed to get through. A few minutes into chapter 7, and we're back to running past guards and standing on floor switches to deactivate barriers. Which we're…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey everyone! The newest episode of Midpoint Save where I talk to the developer behind Re:Call about designing narrative puzzles, the lessons he learned from the game now that it has been out for awhile, and I record @yug.bsky.social without him knowing about it.
unlabelledView post →I really love this game, the music is great, the artstyle is fun and so is the game play. But the ending felt underbaked so did the whole story I wish it was longer than it was. I got soft locked a few times and had the game run into errors which was interesting. I can't justify the £16 price tag (I got it in a humble bundle), maybe wait for a sale. But I would really recommend picking it up!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a fine puzzle game, but it needs two small improvements: - Any codes you are given should be automatically recorded in a journal or something. Its annoying to pause, do something else, and then be screwed because you can't remember the code and the game's dialog won't tell you anymore. - For the two-person remote control sections, let the right stick move the other person so you can move both at the same time. Its really obnoxious to have to inch along both characters when moving…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game where you gaslight everyone. My Experience RE:CALL is a puzzle game where you navigate levels and interact with objects for the most part. Often in the present you're being questioned or interrogated, and have to recall events in a way that directly affects the present. Starting, I had some funny issues on 2k resolution. Some guide text at the top or bottom of the screen stays there when it really should be out of frame lol. It's nothing that affects gameplay so it's fine.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a fun gem of a game to come across! Has a really clever core premise - solving puzzles by changing memories that affect the present day. Re:Call uses that concept in a ton of creative ways, I was always looking forward to the next one! It's a shame it's not utilized as much in the second half of the game, though there are still fun puzzle segments with new mechanics in the latter half. My game crash did crash on one occasion, but thankfully replaying chapters isn't too bad with how…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was picked for December's [url=https://thegameclub.com] The Game Club I went into this game blind and I'm glad I did. Re:Call was an amazing experience that I'm sad had to end! Different challenges made the game interesting, after beating it made me wish there were more challenges and levels because the main gameplay loop was a great concept that was put into fruition! Thanks for creating an amazing game, I hope to see more in the future!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game. The memory/reality shifting mechanic makes for some fun puzzles, though the later chapters unfortunately mostly abandon that mechanic in favor of other less interesting powers. Those parts were still fun, but it was a little disappointing. It should be noted that the story deals with some pretty heavy topics, such as the main character dealing with the effects of being bullied throughout his life and another character is the subject of child sexual abuse.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I guess you could call it an rpg-maker. visual novel, puzzle, adventure game. Part of the game play Is a kind of a trial an error puzzle thing where you play out a memory and can alter things in the environment by making choices on what you remember. Within each memory it can sometimes feel like a point and click adventure game with items to pick up and items to interact with. There are also large parts of the game where your just talking to characters like a visual novel. The game also has…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I could leave a neutral review because this game is *half* really good and *half* not what I signed up for. The first half of the game is amazing because of the RECALL mechanic. This mechanic is the game's main selling point and it's the part that you get to see in the demo. I can't overstate how cool this mechanic is. This part of the game is incredibly fun. The problem is that about halfway through, the game essentially ditches the mechanic and instead goes with an extremely tedious…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I won't even talk about the CH7 puzzles. I'm a patient person, but by the end of them I was exhausted as if I worked a 9-5 shift. It's a 50/50 game with good design, but middle level idea execution. If the game ever gets a rewrite (let a star dream), then I hope the creators themselves will understand what their idea was. The music is amazing, and the small sound details like the sound of the tea tray when the characters moved added to the vibe. For the first half of the game it's a big…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Memory manipulation combined with a murder mystery and a sprinkle of emotional introspection I really enjoyed my time with this game overall, but as with others, I found the puzzle section towards the end of the game reeeeeally outstayed its welcome The mechanic to remound reality based on shakey recollection is a pretty cool idea Character designs were neat and the story was more than serviceable Not a long game (8-ish hours) I do recommend it, just a caveat that the ending puzzle is a bit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →interesting concept, could've been so much better though. character writing fell flat for me and i couldn't care enough for them even though it seemed like they tried really hard for me to do so. finally i left with more questions than answers which the game seemingly didn't intend to answer in the first place other than that it's a solid 8 hours of gameplay that was only worth it for me on sale 6.5/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another reviewer wished steam had an option for a neutral review, and I couldn't agree more. The game has it's highs, but the game also had some disappointing lows and sadly ends on a pretty weak note. There is a section at the end where you have to do extended puzzles sections, and it wore on me so fast, and the story itself sadly suffered on the writing and presentation side too. That said, the game is full of charm and passion, the music is great too, and my honest recommendation for the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was the game of the month for the Game Club. Really enjoyed the unique memory mechanic, the first bunch of episodes fleshed out this mechanic and made for some interesting narrative paths. The second half of the game was a bit more linear and different, but I was quite touched on the story points that bought the protagonist together more with his past self. The art style is reminisent of old school pixel adventure games, the music slaps, and the character design is vibrant and fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoyable, even if sometimes I get lost trying to work out the sequence of things. The game really gives you all the information you need to put the puzzles together. The music is great and the art style is super fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really enjoyed it, I think there's part of the plot that I either missed, or maybe setting up for a sequel, or could be legitimate plot holes, but still good game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played Re:Call as part of The Game Club's game of the month and I have to say that I am so glad that I did! The premise of altering memories which then alters reality is an amazing idea for a puzzle mechanic and it's used to it's fullest extent in Re:Call. The story is also extremely interesting and kept me guessing the entire time. It went into places that I wasn't expecting at all and expertly wove the game mechanics into it as well. Overall, I am so glad that I got the chance to play…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are bright moments in this game, writing and gameplay, but by end it doesn't have any mode of increasing puzzle difficulty other than asking you to string a longer sequence of vision cone avoidance and button presses together (with a reset if you get seen) and that felt like a waste of my time. And the writing had gotten old at that point too. First few chapters are excellent though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game. I'm not even that mad about the fact that the main gimmick of the game gets phased out halfway through it. I think Chapter 5 is fun! I enjoyed it. I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HATE Chapter 7. It is half the godsdamn game, and it's got some of the worst puzzles in anything I've ever played. The story is great! I love everything about this game's art style, characters, whatever. If you can get past half of the game having repetitive gameplay that's barely engaging in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An absolute masterpiece of a game... until it turns into a rushed mess. A great concept, perfectly executed for the first three chapters, until it's forgotten, never used again, and replaced with long, obnoxious door puzzles, full of useless backtracking. A well-written story with a very engaging opening, until suddenly, towards the end, somehow, it manages to feel padded and rushed at the same time. Gorgeus pixel graphics, with expressive portraits and detailed backgrounds. No, no "but"s…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just a fun game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A neat take on a "time travel detective" style puzzle game with a pretty good soundtrack! Worth your time if you like that sort of thing, but stumbles on "gamey" elements preventing unsupported creative solutions. Despite that, I wasn't frustrated most of the time and did end up finishing the game. The finale is lackluster and appears to be rushed unfortunately, but I did enjoy most everything else.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing this right after Evan's Remains, the flaws are still there but largely improved on, at least in my opinion. I fell in love with the art style fairly quick, and the game surprised me with a tried (too tried, some could argue) base formula without making it unbearable or bland. I'd recommend it overall on a good sale; Probably don't get it on an impulse purchase, or at full price if you're planning to get into it without much info.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Graphs are cute, the puzzles are quite smart and fun.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thoroughly enjoyed this game. It’s such a unique concept and was executed very well. I played on the steam deck with almost no issues. The only thing I noticed was part of the screen being cut off. It was never the main picture, just the “use R to move camera” or whatever. So fun.!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →/!\ REVIEWS CONTAINS SPOILERS /!\ Game start strongly with an interestingly unique gameplay mechanic where the main character is asked to retrace his steps from memory, and is able to change what happens in the past in order to get out from sticky situation in the present (think: i am being held at gun point, find a past where the guard doesn't have a gun so you can escape). The characters are likeable and the story starts very interestingly. I'm a sucker for stories where the player is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game! Simple controls and a little slow, but had some good puzzles and a great story. Dialog and characters were also done very well. The best part is the "Memory" game mechanic that changes reality as you play, and the reactions people give you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A killer concept, strong character designs, and some solid puzzles It hits the ground running, but I will say it gets a little loopy after the halfway mark Also everyone's named after British musicians for some reason
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played thru the main story, and my god is this game a diamond in the trash. It is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good, i love the characters, the plot twists weren't too surprising and the writing was pretty good too imo. The game itself is story focused, with puzzles scattered all around the game. Expect to read much if you get Re:Call. Some puzzles can be really confusing, while others are really obvious. Great game, give it a try.

I also really enjoyed the puzzles based on time changing mechanics. However there are a few things that I don't love. (spoilers from this point onwards) ---------------- I had seen it…
