I have had the honour and privilege of being a part of some testing and stuff ahead of release -- I'm a long time Noita fan, and as I found out, the developer of this game also loves Noita, and has drawn a lot of inspiration from it to this game. My experience playing the game started roughly, as I haven't played this exact kind of games before, and there definitely is a learning curve to this game (even if you have experience in similar games). So it took…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first glance: a Dead Cells-like successor with spell combining, but the graphics are dirty as hell. It really needs stronger visual accents - the action is hard to read and makes your eyes blur. I think the main issue is that the background competes with the foreground during combat. There needs to be more distinction between them - like blurring the background, making it less saturated, less detailed, and so on. There’s also some meta-progression going on: tons of unlocks that just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →amazing game but i have some worries the game gets updated A LOT. most of this is bugfixes which is nice, but balance changes on an early access game are not as necessary (should it not trivialize everything, obviously). i hope the devs are not overworking themselves. for the time being this game is really fun, and spell crafting is incredibly cool and well done. it is MORE than worth the price, even as an early access. if i had to force myself to write about cons for this game, my only two…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Dead Cells, you will like An Amazing wizard. Worth the 12 dollars. I play it on the steamdeck which is great; and it only gets a little choppy if I end up with a build that multiplies spells by a ton. The gameplay loop is fun and there's a lot of traits to unlock for each element, and each element is just different enough that you can tell. I like that the story progresses through the harder difficulties. It's not a "one story" that you replay, but the story opens up more and more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay is generally fine. Spell combining mechanic is pretty interesting. Dialog writing is quite goofy; not offensively bad, but cringe in a way that made me skip every dialog after the first few conversations so I didn't have to read it. Story is extremely generic "you wake up in a strange place with no memories", despite the intro cinematic not mentioning your character at all, but somehow every person you meet knows that you're the incredible legendary John Amazing Wizard, and they all…

We're expanding the world of An Amazing Wizard with new enemies to defead, powerful spells to master, and legendary weapons to claim! #indiegame #indiedev #earlyaccess #roguelike

It can take a while to master the 'merge spell' mechanic, but once you do you'll melt enemies +Pretty solid meta progression, not for grind, but to slowly ease new spells and mechanics onto you without overwhelming +Very nice pixel art. +New challenges and unlocks add variety to runs +Familiar bosses and enemies will change tactics between levels and difficulty options, not just become bullet sponges +Game respects…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cool game for powerhungry roguelike fans I've been following the game's development for quite a while and have to say - it has come a long way. The spell merge mechanic is quite ingenious, feeding that internal need of figuring out game breaking combinations you might know from other roguelikes - and, in my opinion, is the biggest selling point of the game. The game progression feels fair, it gives you paths to choose (through different NPCs) which can map to a specific build you might…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It needs a lot more time in the oven. The game play feels very floaty, there is no weight to any of the attacks, the monsters just charge at you, there is no real mechanics to them. The crafting system feels okay. It feels like there is a dozen different ideas smashed together with no synergy to tie them together.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →“Yer a Wizard..and destruction incarnate!” The game is a multifaceted marvel of a roguelite. There are a plethora builds to approach the game with: Want to be a necromancer with an army of undead fairies and otherworldly beings? You can. Want to surround yourself with an orbiting deadly whirlwind of electrical and icy chaos with a sword that creates gravity vortexes when you hit things with it, go for it! The spell crafting involves planning for chaos (though it can get overpowered mid-late…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a cluttered mess. An utter mess. It was hard to play very much at all. The visuals are a disaster. Your character does not stand out well from the background. You lack animations for actions beyond running/jumping. Your attacks happen in clutter around you. Shots come from behind you to make the situation worse. Enemies had symbols all over them. Ladders don't look like ladders and appear and disappear. Blobs that look like enemies are trampolines (and stand out better than anything…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game and then literally played it for 8 hours straight. Finally defeated the boss, completing 1 full run. This game is like Dead Cells meets Magicraft/Noita. It's still only in early access and it has SO MUCH content already. So many different spells and builds. Though, so far I only have a handful of weapons unlocked so I hope they add more soon. This game is a hidden gem, 1000%. Can't wait to see what they add next. And you better believe I'm going to keep playing many more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is really good, I might not be 100% objective bsc developer is my good friend, but I believe that most fans of Noita and Dead Cells will enjoy it a lot!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's good & bad here. The good first: - Beautiful pixel art - Engaging + fun game loop - Fun upgrade tree - Cute & unique character art - Spell combining system is GOOD The bad: - Other reviewers have pointed this out, but it's easy to lose your wizard amongst all the magic and enemies on the screen. Even just standing still, they can be lost in the bg. - Cringe dialogue. I just skipped past it. To be more specific, too many attempts at quipping and humour when 1) it's not hitting and 2)…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels like they know what they want to make but they have no idea how to make it. I don't know if the term animation lag is a thing but that is what best describes my main gripe with the game. Like input lag but with animations (maple story had the same thing back in the day)... not that I would really call this animated, it's sprite based. The maps feel very over functional, just blocks linked together to make a platformer but it doesn't play like a platformer, there isn't really…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been waiting for this to drop since the prologue playtest. This game is awesomely put together. I love the style and upgrade system. The new things and enemies they've added to this version are a welcomed surprise. It's a different flavor from the prologue. similar, but different. takes longer to piss off the Frog 🐸 😂 hahaha. One of my favorite purchases!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The core game is a clone of Dead Cells, with the only major difference being combining spells. It doesn't really make itself unique enough in terms of gameplay, and the writing is extremely generic.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A genuinely fun game, which is clearly inspired by Dead Cells and reminds me of Noita in some aspects. The pixel art and music are beautiful, and the spell-crafting system is awesome! The game is still rough around the edges, but that's to be expected in early access. Other reviewers have already commented on the writing, and apart from that, I have only two gripes so far: 1) Platforming sections feel too difficult to do cleanly, and not very satisfying overall. 2) I wish each biome had a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has been very addicting since I picked it up. One of the very first runs I was able to combine spells and enhancements to create an infinite amount of orbiting white balls that increased with each cast till my frame rate dropped to 1. I left it alone for an hour and the spells were still trying to spawn in while my steam deck was cooking itself. Another time I created something similar with 3 different creature spawning spells all maxed out, then merged into a rainbow scythe that when…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my DMs just gave the indication that our campaign is nearing the end and I am sad but also excited because it means END-GAME AND POST-GAME DRESSUP FOR MY SLIME GIRL WHO WILL BE AN AMAZING WIZARD YEEAAAAAA

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so i received a response earlier from one of the devs that really helped with getting into this one. yes, there's various Accessibility options i completely forgot existed when making my review, and that made or broke the game for me, personally. i haven't listened to the soundtrack or voice acting yet because i usually play games "deaf", or play my own stuff. the graphics are incredible and those pixels are pixely, so please make more pixels. the A.I. may be bad on purpose at first, to help…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From what I've played of it so far its like a magic using dead cells so far it is pretty good (would be great to have content adding mods but that is for most games).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shaping up to be a really solid mashup of Skul and Astral Ascent.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, this game is a diamond in the very rough, with many of the systems somewhat unrefined. That said, the interesting decision making in the spell crafting system as well as the overall soul of the game show some big potential. So far ive had quite a lot of fun with this, despite its edges. Those edges are for example the rift between the somewhat darker art tone and the more jokey dialogue (which seems pretty similar to Astral Ascent), it would be better to commit to one or the other in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, killer value for $10. Lots of potential with the magic crafting system.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Visually kinda overwhelming but since it is filled with amazing spells you can customize, clever systems to enhance your character and overall a brilliant setting it is definitely a game to pick up! My short video review can be seen here: https://youtu.be/QO2pk5MEKjM
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Action Roguelite that really nails the "feel powerful" effect. Merging spells is so much fun as well. After a few hours I think I have only scratched the surface of all the combinations and OP potential this system has. The Wizard feels smooth to control, everything is very responsive, and for meta-progression lovers, there's A LOT to unlock.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lots of spells to combine and unlock. Need mana! Fun game, check it out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It could really use some quality-of-life updates but the game in its current state is still fun. Great variety of spells and the spell-merging mechanic is what makes this game unique compared to similar ones.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, strong potential, reminiscent of Noita, but unique. Completely unbootable on super-ultra wide monitors though. cannot navigate to menu to change monitor resolution. (Played on laptop earlier, was fun)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →surprisingly fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not yet. Still needs more time in the oven. It has the bones of something great, but I don't think it'll get there. The enormous amounts of visual clutter encouraged by the game makes it impossible tell what's going on, so I can't see enemy attacks. This makes the best way to play to just run from enemies and throw spells from a distance. It's kinda boring. I'm just waiting for enemies to die. If I'm not in the thick of combat, I'm not focusing. I'm not in that flow state. I'm just running…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely roguelike for a very good price, it's like some sort of mix between spellcraft and dead cells.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is truly an undiscovered treasure, I highly recommend it to new players. It is a fresh concept in a saturated market, with endless amounts of hours to be enjoyed. And since Halloween is so close by, I would easily recommend it to those which have not tried it before. It is worth every cent, you will get a lot of bang for your buck!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I generally suck but I love the music and combat. love the way you can combine spells and infuse the weapons with it too! so many things to unlock in the game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you like deadcells? Do you like Noita's spell merging? Do you like hades? Well this game sorta mixes all off those together into a p fun and cool combination. You can create some insane spells in this, it is still in EA as off this review, but i'd still give it recc
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game, Perfect blend of rougelike and metroidvania. The artstyle is amazing and detailed, and everything looks so cool even though this is still a 'demo' its so full of content and combinations to explore thank you for making this masterpiece, will be spending lots of time on this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chaotic and intense 2d-action roguelite with magic-building feature. Mix spells so they can explode whole screen in one click. Between runs upgrade your hero with elemental powers, forge new weapons and select challenges to complete in next run. Developers are trying hard, can't wait to see what this game will look in the future.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nearly unlimited spell combinations. Sparks my creativity.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An Amazing Wizard is a fast, flashy rogue-lite where you play as—you guessed it—a wizard who gets absolutely wild with spell combinations. It leans into the chaos: quick combat, tons of spell options, and that “oops I accidentally made a nuke” kind of energy. Think spell-slinging metroidvania meets magic sandbox, but with a strong focus on replayable challenge. Pros ✔️ So many combo options – The merging effects is addictive. I kept shouting, “What happens if I do this?” and it was rarely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FIrst of all, the game isn't perfect. It has its issues, but i think that the foundation for a great game is there. I'll start with what i liked -Really fun and interesting spell system that allows you to go nuts in any way you can think. You can have virtually any build you want. Summons? Combine a low cooldown spell alongside a summoning spell and fill the screen with your minions. Want to nuke the screen? Make a meteor that drops bombs wich shoot out fireballs that then shoot out even more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game definitly should get it worth it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most fun exciting game I found in a long time. Simple enough to learn and master in the first couple hours but yet still have so many ways to learn and get creative, surprise yourself after a few days of playing. It's also friendly toward people with unreliable working schedule, we can play when and wherever we like and pause when we have to do something else. Helpful with my ADHD too. 10/10 would play very often! worth every penny!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the feel of the spells for most of em. It's a lot of fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first it doesn't look like much, but very quickly I realize that there's a lovely depth to mechanics of the game. You have a lot of control over if you want your builds to become auto-blasting, or more aimed efforts. Not to mention, the artwork is really nicely done, and many elements are just straight up beautiful. The visuals has a bit of simplistic feel to them at times, but more than anything I believe it helps, because there can be A LOT going on once you understand the game. Also, if…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haven’t got a lot of time in yet but having a lot of fun so far.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing. When I played the demo I couldnt stop playing it. I had to buy it. It just got me pump and excited to play. If you like wizards with a crap ton of spells at your command to mix and match them. This is your game. Trust me if you like this type of game it scratched the itch ive had for something like this. Game is just great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good game its dead cells +noita its absolutly worth to pick up :=)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sorta mid dialogue, but insanely addicting gameplay. A simple yet elegant spell combination system, with lots to unlock and do. It's a bit unpolished in certain areas, and you can tell it needs some work, but man it's absolutely worth the 10$ I paid Story 6/10 Gameplay 8/10 Music 6/10 Graphics 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish there was an option for "Not right now", the price point is great, but it needs more time to cook. UI has alot of very obvious placeholder stuff, and there's generally just kind of a lot of prompts on screen for no reason. I think it just needs to be cleaned up alittle bit more and it'll be better.
