54 of 54 · most liked firstRace Online is a nice looking retro racer from top down perspective and is somewhat fun to play but if you're looking similar gameplay than in legendary Slicks 'n' Slide or Turbosliders you will be disappointed. The car handling is quite different and isn't what you would expect for a car as they move and handle like solid blocks, get stuck easily and you can't reverse you way out. There's not much difference between how cars (sports car, formula, tractor, etc.) handle and move. Also seems that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Race Online: ~~~~~~~~~~ The pressure is as high as it can possibly be. Straps tight, nomex suit and a helmet. Ten drivers are on the edge, their eyes fixed on the starting lights. As soon as the three lights turn green, the season will be on its way! The question is, which position would you be standing in at the end of the season? Race online is a top down racing game where you take control of a car, a bike or a UFO, and race either against nine other competitors handled by the computer, or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat little top down retro racer, with a lot of variety and a track editor. The soundtrack gets you in the mood for racing as well with a good number of uptempo tunes. Takes some skill as the AI is fairly unforgiving and quite aggressive. The cars have solid physics also. Watch those drifts, a drunk driving simulator this isn't!! A better than decent time waster and a really playable product considering it's early access. In fact, looks not too far off from being finished to me, Very polished.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No option to adjust laps per race :-/ This could become a great game if it would be possible to mod it a bit and to create custom races with more than 4 laps. Also pitstops are missing. Nice base, but it's limiting its own success in my view.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No. Competition is stiff and there is still the grand ol daddy of Slicks'n'Slide that shows how this is done. I was hoping this could be a modern day replacement for it but alas it is not to be. To start with the bugs need to be addressed. ex. multiplayer problems, campaigns finishing prematurely which leads to player unlocking everything by doing just one race which finishes the season. So this game gets close to being a decent light version of the old fun games but bugs prevent it from…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Update (4/27/2016): Online multiplayer was added to the game long after early adopters like me stopped playing it, so there's no-one to play with. The game just leaves you sitting in the lobby forever. It's such a shame, because it should be a lot of fun. Alas, I haven't had a single online race, yet. Perhaps when they officially release the game, mulitiplayer will see some action. --- Single-player is great. It's fun, addictive and feels complete. I think all the bugs have been ironed out…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →couldnt be more disappointed with a potential trip down nostalgia lane. from inability to reverse , yet can rotate on the spot like a roomba... to the incessant ai's tendency to stick onto you like a magnetic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... to each car handling like a boat. bad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has all sorts of potential. We've got an overhead racing game with 6 unique vehicles and their handling characteristics.... tons of tracks, customizeable.... this game could be perfect! But it's really just not worth the money and not anywhere near worth release right now. If this were still an early access game, I'd be obsessed with this. But apparently, this version was considered good enough to release. I literally ran a career race against 9 other CPU players, where none of…

unlabelledView post →I've not played the game for long but felt I had to write a review already to balance out some of the negative reviews that are either A: old and don't reflect the game as it is now or B: simply stupid and trying to be funny and failing miserably (god I hate idiots who write 'amusing' reviews). If you like Supersprint, Slicks'n'slide and other top down racers then I'm sure you will enjoy this. Loads of tracks, good handling and an excellent local multiplayer option where you can see the whole…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally updated! This sympathetic little game is now better than ever. One click and once again you're ready to compete against your friends (locally or online) or AI drivers. Still AI won't let you win so easily and you should not be too self-confident because new and updated levels will test your skills - that one last corner can ruin everything! This is your game if top-down racing games are your thing and you're ready to prove your skills.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the game, but the fact its called "Race Online" and doesnt have that feature im going to give it a thumbs down..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, basically a good nice little 2d arcade racing game with good gameplay and lots of potential. But it is abandoned by its developers... leaving a lot of bugs and room for improvements. Online Multiplayer would be fun... but is dead. Would appreciate an open source version of this game. For the current price of 12€ i can not recommend to buy this game!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A rehash of Slicks 'n' Slide with less features. Improved physics, audio and graphics, but Slicks did everything else better. I recommend buying only at a discount, if you really have to.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. Reminiscent of GeneRally, Supercars, Jupiters Masterdrive, Nitro .... the list goes on. Sadly can't seem to find a game online, but local multi and single player is ace.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like top-down racing games, please follow our [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/36693366/]curator page. A game with no style. But it is colorful and has well designed courses. The playability strongly depends on the kind of vehicle: Rally car: best playability, most fun. Formula: playable. Motorcycle: ok - but too stiff for tight corners. Sportscar: horrible, slippery like always on ice. Tractor: good. Ufo: ok - but they easily get stuck in the track environment.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Race Arcade is a fun top-down racer but with some more polishing it could have been a much greater game! On the plus side is nice old school graphics (if you like that sort of thing), car handling, lots of tracks and a track editor. The down side is that the main game element, the carrer mode, doesn't last long at all. I finished the carrer mode in just over one hour. Once you've finished carrer mode, you only have single races, time trials and online mode. Single races and time trials can be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Race Arcade is a surprisingly neat little indie arcade racer which kind of kept reminding me a lot of Micro Machines. Which is great. It features a fun multiplayer modes, good course design and a lot of workshop content. Despite appearances, worth a look.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played through the first "career season" and then got a refund. Gameplay is smooth, as advertised, but I fail to see the depth in it. This feels like a vanilla top-down racing game, without any innovative gamemode or any interactive element on the maps to give it a little soul, nor does it have its own universe to make it stand out of the crowd. Level design isn't problem-proof either, some path that might seem like legit shortcuts might just simply invalidate your lap (which you see only…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Race Online looks like a very simple game on first glance and is easy to get into. The tracks are all nicely designed with great attention to detail and the gameplay is nice and simple. So simple in fact that the absense of rebinding doesn't matter as it pretty much gives you all the ways to control that you could come up with on both the Keyboard and Controller. I would go as far as saying that this is one of those games that are easy to learn but hard to master. The 6 vehicles all control…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UMmm hold on for a quick sec, this game FIRST of all scammed me and my friend. SEcond, this game isn't even fun you go online and here's no one else just me and my friend and that sucks. Secondly, the game handling SUCKS. Expect to be off-raod most of the time... Tbh I don't conddone drink and drive but for this game I say it makes it bearable. Also, watch out for jumps you can GET STRANDED LIKE ME AND THEN MY FRIEND MAKES FUN OF ME. I expect a refund and then some extra because tbh $8 for this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So let me start by saying I love top down racing games. Played alot of them from Supersprint, Badlands, Skidmarks, Slicks n Slides and Generally. So this game for me was a no brainer. I also like the fact there are plenty of cars on track but this all comes with a downside. I like games to be competative. So for example I am currently doing a 15 race championship and I am leading 2nd place by nearly 100 points after 12 races. So most races despite starting from the back I am in the lead by…

unlabelledView post →The main screen doesn't seem to load the images and I was about to ask for a refund today after purchasing this in the winter sale but I clicked on the yellow screen toward the lower right and suddenly got the options screen. Then I hit escape to go back to the yellow screen and clicked lower on the lower right screen and got the Editor screen! Finally was able to edit my own track. I had uninstalled the game , then found out what the main screen is suppose to look like so I reinstalled the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun game, but not worth more than a euro.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Top-down or isometric racers are a rarety nowaday. Even rarer are the ones that really nail the look and feel of old retro acrade racers. Race Arcade looks and feels absolutely lovely, the controls are tight, the levels are full with details and lovely crafted. Every corner feels predictable, every race is tight battle for laptimes and a good position and not a random outcome of powerups, oil slicks, rubber banding and explosions. Race Arcade is clearly loveletter to retro top down racing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey Racer Fans! I’m a huge fan of top-down racers and come from the Micro Machines era. Of course, Race Online isn’t Micro Machines, but I was looking for a good top-down racing game — and this one delivers. At first, I thought it was just a fun racer with power-ups, but I was wrong. This game is quite realistic, fair, and challenging. You really feel the differences between cars and surfaces. Screw up? That’s on you — but the races are always fair. I just finished the first two seasons and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing Game Handling is a bit less grippy but it's totally controllable Graphics is classic It's the top down racing game that I am looking for 9/10 The mouse cursor is useless, all menu items are controlled by the keyboard, why not disable the cursor?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nobody online, Fail ! Someone buy this, its actualy fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good top down racer, but since one wrong turn will cost you the race, it's probably best played single-player. Lots of tracks and track editor. 10 cars means a LOT of collisions. No online, so I'm glad they changed the game's title.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They do a great job of emulating the classic overtop arcade racing games but there are a few bugs and downfalls mixed in. There are different cars to unlock and different "series" to complete but it only takes a few hours to unlock everything. There is a huge amount of tracks to race at as well. There are even a few IRL tracks such as Mazda Laguna Seca and SPA that have been transformed down to pixel tracks. This game is perfect if you are looking for quick and fun races for a short amount of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Good: Amazing looking game, lots of racetracks. You have forest biomes, desert biomes, and arctic biomes. Whatever color you pick for your car, the opponents will pick other colors to make all cars colorful. The Bad: The cars handle terrible. I unlocked new cars, and even those handle terrible. I even play on an XBOX One gamepad/controller use brakes and decelerate, but its not enough. Your car keeps sliding out of the track or doesn't turn enough and crashes outside the track. The best…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →reminds me of rural racer 2..i hope they add turbo and brakes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slicks 'n' slides copy but without the weapons and you have to grind to be able to drive other vehicles than default one...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just started playing but it's awesome!!! Been looking for a game like this... a ton of tracks, track editor, cars with different physics, easy to learn, top down, online multiplayer, local multiplayer for up to six players with everything on ONE screen (I love it!) but you can also use split screen.... Great game for fans of top down racing games like Super Sprint, Slicks n slide and GeneRally! EDIT Changed my review from positive to negative. It would be a great game with a lot of potential…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tl;dr: 2D top down racer where the cars handle differently and have different racing lines. Some you have to oversteer, some you have to brake early for and accelerate out hard. Tons of tracks and a track editor, though cumbersome. Dead online multiplayer, awesome local co-op. If you like racing games, you'll dig it. If you want a fun party game, you can have six people at once, two per controller. AI is okay, and if you like chasing fastest laps, you can enjoy the time trials. More words: I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lots of fun with friends! Highly recommended for fans of good old and legendary Slicks 'n Slide.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My feelings are mixed about this game but overall It is ok , you can have fun I do not know what are you looking for in an arcade racing game I am sure that this game can cover your needs tho . Good steering and physics with nice textures and races but the AI is bad ...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, but: Pro: Lots of fun. Con: No online players. Still 10/10, though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game would be 10x better if the guy that pops up when you exit wasn't so ugly and if you could play custom maps online with friends. This game is more of a $4 game than a $12 one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Race Arcade is a low effort retro pixel top-down racer. The game was mostly finished but it seems to have been dumped onto Steam with a few missing options and next to no testing for some aspects of the game, with reports of the online gameplay being laggy and unoptimised to the point of being unplayable. Lazy retro pixel graphics and flimsy/missing controls also contribute to the mess. For the same price you can get a proper, finished 3D racing game, so there's no possible way this could…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple but fun game: just what I expected to get :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little details that make it a bit of fun to play. Cotrolls and sound seem to be a bit sloppy. ($3) No complants A drift button would be great! Editor for making new car sprites would be awesome!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having played the first championship, I wanted to quickly leave a positive review because I don't know why the game has so much hate. Maybe it's not worth $12, give there are so many great games available, but still, it plays well, has nice bright graphics and good production values.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice local co-op racing game. Things like weapons or something to spice up the race track would be nice, but without that it's also good fun to play with a bunch of friends on the couch. Also a big plus: it works flawlessly on Linux.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →**NOT RECOMMENDED IN CURRENT STATE** Game is fun and has loads of potential, however, performance is not optimised and there is a stutter every second that makes playing and enjoying the game impossible and as such have requested a refund. If the developers fix this major bug and other annoyances, then I may purchase again and I will certainly recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such simple game, but SUCH FUN!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all: played only ~20 minutes, asked for a refund. The local multiplayer doesn't work very well, the keys are blocking each other. Also the local multiplayer displays the entire track with really small cars, instead of part of it as Micro Machine did it 20 years ago... This game wants to look oldschool, but just looks cheap, and it's not even cheap.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I started playing videogames with mini racing games,RA seems pretty good, there are many tracks, the career mode.11.99€ maybe is too much but i think it worth.Just a little problem not impossible to be fixed, i dont understand why I cant customize keyboard controls,i hope the Devs fix it.I have a gamepad too but i love play using just keyboard.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself is fun. It reminds me of Super Sprint for the NES except I have yet to see a tornado on the track. Could use some customizations or upgrades but it's a simple design with a million track possibilities. The real issue here is that there is no online community. This would be more fun playing against other people rather than AI but there is never anyone playing. If a community showed up on this game I think it would be a really solid game. Right now it is half great, half…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I grew up with top down racers in the 80's & 90's. Race Online has the feel of these old racers, but with a modern, professional feel to the gameplay and presentation. There's a nice mix of tracks, all of whch can be played individually, or played as sets in a tournament / campaign. Each set of tracks is designed to make the most of whatever vehicle you've chosen to race as. Also, the handling of each vehicle type has obviously been finely tuned to OCD levels of precision, and each vehicle…
