Prisoner of War
British RAF Wing Commander James Wright is captured by the Japanese during WWII and forced to fight in brutal hand-to-hand combat. The Japanese soldiers get more than they bargained for when Wright’s years of martial arts training in Hong Kong prove him to be a formidable opponent. From TMDB

Scott is great in one of his best performances and the fights are gnarly. It's a proper WWII movie and it's great."

unlabelledView post →PRISONER OF WAR is a slog, the most boring Adkins film I've seen, unconvincing & uninteresting. A POW LARP, with neatly painted mud, going nowhere, a few sprinkles of Adkins pummeling fools, without messing up his hair, spread thin over its looong duration. Senseless & insensitive.

Great performances by Scott, Peter Shinkoda & all around as well like from Masanori Mimoto & Donald Cerrone. Looks & sounds good too with a very effective soundtrack.

The prisoner of war camp is surrounded by RAZOR-WIRE & COs tent is made of PLASTIC; neither existed in the 1940s FFS Attention to detail just doesn't seem to matter anymore!

unlabelledView post →"Prisoner of War" is a basic war movie with a martial arts theme that expands upon the antagonism and martial competition between a Western prisoner of war and his Japanese jailers. I felt this film could have built upon the core concept of a sort of camp kumite (martial arts tournament) but instead it leads into a watered down great escape scenario. Acting is reasonable and action is mostly well done. In summary, a basic war, martial arts film. Worth a look.
