60 of 79 · most liked firstThis is another ported game from the "Big Fish collection" and an old one at that. This is a standard version not the extended one, which contains longer story line. The ending for the standard version is abrupt and feels very rushed. This is another proof how some companies are trying to generate more cash creating different versions of the same game. Why? Wouldn't be better to have a full story and create a bonus material not relevant to the story? Anyway, when porting old games to the Steam…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Princess Isabella - Return of the Curse is the second game of the Princess Isabella series and also its peak probably. Coming out from Gogii games as its predecessor, the game narrates another chapter in the titular princess' life and her lifelong enmity with a witch. Years after princess' adventure and commotion with the witch, the curse returns to her land. It's been several years now that she's been happily living with her husband, and baby daughter Bella; but dark shadows summoned by the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although the game is fun and very casual. I wanted to make my point out there by giving negative review. Firstly, there is NO support from the devs at all. I encountered so many bugs and I couldn't get them fixed. Secondly, there is A LOT of bugs that prevent you from progressing or crashes your system. Thirdly, I could not figure out the story and reasons for why something occured, I had to google it and found out that this game is missing HALF of the content that explains things clearly and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unless you've played the first one and want to continue the story, I don't recommend this game. Why? Because it's not the complete version. The game is fun and has a good story but there was more to do and a little more story added in the Collector's Edition. In this version the ending is rather cut short with no explination for the prince's actions, though that part is easy to figure out on your own anyway. Overall I enjoyed this game and if you have the first one then yes, grab this (on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short version: 73% Princess Isabella 2 is a good fantasy-themed hidden object game… and that’s about it. It does nothing to make itself as memorable as the first episode; it’s just a generic HOG with a lot of running back and forth. Long version: Like with most hidden object sequels made years after the original, Princess Isabella 2: Return of the Curse has little to do with the original: it’s just a dime-a-dozen fantasy HOG with stock setups, stock settings, and stock plot. The only thing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a pretty fun addition to the genre. It has some neat mechanics with the helpers' abilities that you can use to locate hidden items. However, this mechanic can also be a bit of a pain, because you have to scan the whole screen for spots to use these powers, which can turn into a pixel hunting adventure. This may only apply to the harder difficulty, I'm not sure, as that's the only one I played. The ending isn't really satisfying, as I guess they are looking to make a follow up. In…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Princess Isabella - Return of the Curse is the second chapter in this adventure, and starts a few years later from the previous game. The player, still as Isabella, has a new, but recognizably dangerous to face, the evil witch has yet-again gain forces to curse the castle and your family. This time the conflict is personal, as it threatens our protagonist little baby named Bella! With a much more effort put into the plot, this second chapter is still present using a limited engine, but with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Princess Isabella: Return of the Curse is the sequel to Princess Isabelle, in which you defeated a witch. That opponent returned and kidnapped your baby girl, named Bella. It's up to you to uncurse your lands, as now, darkness spread out of the castle. And that sequel was really well done in terms of story, because I never expected that twist in the end. Now, we're introduced to more creatures: while the fairy is still your helper, you meet villagers, dwarves and even a dragon that will you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →About 5 hours long to play through. Well written. Casual/Hidden Object game with some mini games. There's no counter-intuitive backtracking, no objects appearing in a scene after you've already cleared the area - none of that nonsense which is common in the poorly designed HOB games. Delivers exactly what you'd expect. Not worth full price, but definitely worth playing. I read some reviews which said the game was buggy - I did not encounter any stability issues whatsoever. My…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a far better improvement over the first one... But did it have to end on such a terrible note? I guess you really gotta own the trilogy to see what happens next... But jeez! Oh and if you don't like games that don't give you VERY SPECIFIC hints on where to go or what to use... You will have a problem with this one. There is a part where you have to feed your dragon more berries to power him... BUT WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY?! I was about to give up... Then "accidentally",…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Didn't like this hidden object game. It is juvenile and a lot of the puzzles were just annoying. I asked for a few hints because I couldn't be bothered. Overall the ending was unique, but it only took 2.9 hours so I wouldn't recommend spending more that 70c.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a sequel of the Princess Isabella. The quality of the game is simillar to the previous one. The game is just old too. Created 2011. You can feel it from the quality of graphics. You sould change relolution of the monitor to 4:3. HOS are darker but items are quite big. I liked using the items, it was logical and interesting. Two helpers are interesting but it was not necessary. The story is quite good and the plot followes the previous part in good way. My recomendation is Yes for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When this game first came out, I just could not make myself play it, as I found the faery annoying. Saw it on sale here on Steam, and thought, "Why Not?" Especially since I had played the first and third in this series. The faery and the dragon didn't annoy me as much as I thought they would. Despite what another reviewer wrote, you can click on them while they are speaking just to shut them up. Especially when the dragon is repeating what someone just told you. I actually did…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Princess Isabella - Return of the Curse" is a Hidden Object puzzle game, the type you normally see on mobile app stores or even as browser apps. It's an older game from 2014. It's a venerable 10 years old at the time of this review. There's literally hundreds of these on Steam, mostly published by Artifex Mundi, many of them free on mobile app stores, but this one will cost you money on Steam. There's a fairytale/fantasy theme to the game, but this is a just a veneer over a tired and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a fan of the controls in this game. Also slightly nitpicky, but the voice actor is super annoying
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an... okay game, but after a couple hours (that felt much longer), I just didn't want any more of it. The gimmick of having a magical helper is a cute idea but gets old really quickly -- like, I don't need a bright, constantly flapping dragon animation taking up a chunk of screen space. The environment art is very lovely, but the gameplay wasn't as shiny for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A worthy sequel to the original classic hidden-object game, this keeps pretty much the same formula, just with "more": higher resolution graphics, more adorable helpers, more and better puzzles, and a bit longer. The first game still has a special charm that this sequel can't quite replicate, but it's still a very fun and well-designed game. If you're a hidden-object fan, this series has to be in your collection.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have no idea but I went straight to defeat the witch in her castle after the ring unlocked the hand... Therefore I do not know whether the "exploring of the witch castle" is actually in the game or not 0.0 Except for this, is a pretty fun game, but you have to figure out the puzzle throughout the game without any tinny winny bit of clue.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a casual game, which contains point and click and hidden-object components. It also has two modes. Normal mode caters for players that are more casual. The mode provides many hints, and important areas are always highlighted. Advanced mode on the other hand gives the player almost no hints. There has been some improvement over the first Princess Isabella game, particularly in the art and design of backgrounds. The game’s areas are more varied than its predecessors were. And it’s…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful Picture ^_^ Nice
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little HOG. It certainly kept me playing till the end. 7/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is more of the same as the first but is certainly a little more interesting as in order to free the captured people you need to complete gem patterns, and you have two companions rather than one. However, at no point are the puzzles particularly challenging so it quickly descends into a prettily rendered grind. A cheap way to spend an hour or two if you got it on sale, but not sure I'd actually go out of my way to purchase.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a pretty simple and straightforward sequel. If you enjoyed the first one, you should like this as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well that was uh certainly a game. That made no sense. Why did the Prince turn evil? Why did things go from semi histoical to fairy tale mash up?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Part 2 of Princess Isabella series and better than the first one. This is not the collectors edition, so it has about 35 minutes less playtime as it's missing the CE version only area "The Witch's Trophy Tower" and lacks a small part of the story partially explaining the ending of this game. Isabella's baby daughter Bella has been kidnapped by an evil force and Isabella has to follow the evil and de-curse areas as in the first game. In addition to the fairy helper from the first game she…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is everything that the original Princess Isabella should have been. Good art, music and a story that are unoffensive, and a little bit of actual challenge. It's a fun diversion for a few hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game to pass time with. Lousy Hint system though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved it! Much more entertainting than part 1, look amazing and charming - atmosphere is darker, story is darker... and an unexpected ending! And: we have two "hints" now, with our beloved little fairy now comes a baby dragon! Yay! Maybe too easy. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this game straight through. Good pick!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Therefore, in window mode: Backlog Day: Princess Isabella - Return of the Curse. That bloody fairy is back. Aaaaaaaaah! And Hotspots not always activating is back too. No matter how many times I clicked or where I clicked on the rope to extend it, it would not work until I used a hint... what.
unlabelledView post →A pretty ok sequel, even though its mostly like the first part in most ways. The cristal puzzles are pretty annoying. The endgame is the same as in the first game. The "new" features are ok too. All in one is the game ok. Its recommandable
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They certainly know their target audience; You play as a princess, the main quest is to rescue your baby, & many of the puzzles involve cleaning & tidying. XD A lot of the art in this game is pretty mid, but there are enough point & click style elements that I will probably come back to it at some point. Not at atmospheric as other games in the genre but I didn't hate it. No woke nonsense detected.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →story wise. bad. but the hidden object sections were very fun and challenging in some spots! i dislike the mechanics of the map more in this one, as it’s a bit harder to read and isn’t as clear as the first game. i also dislike the characterization of some of the recurring characters (mostly prince adam).some point knocked off because the ending literally was so strange 😭 you have to backtrack and moving to and from different sections a lot. the voice acting is funny but i like it (sooo many…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty nice second part, the Prince is nightmare inducing though !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game feel little old, low resolution little outdated menu buuuut it is actually very well crafted and polished even new hog games could learn thing or two from this game. It have very nice pace, little more snappy and dynamic than other hog games, and fairy is nice addition, those are small things but it feels good to play it with them :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pros + good looking and colorful background artwork + two playable side character + easy puzzles (if you don't want to challenge) + engaging fantasy world and atmosphere + story is intriguing + hidden object elements are fun. + hint system very helpful + there is auto save cons - game could have been longer. - there are no steam achievements - game doesn't drop cards. - abrupt cliffhanger ending is rushed and clearly designed to set up a sequel. this is an better than average hog and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute game, got it on sale after completing the first of the series and needing to kill another hour or two of boredom. The progress in story is nice, making it a little different from the first, but other than that it's a pretty generic hidden object/puzzle game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well after the first one I wasn't really expecting all that much. The graphics are much prettier than the first one. Puzzles still super easy. The fairy is less annoying (tho still irritating and now joined by another companion for additional actions). The characters are still hilariously badly acted. The storyline is deeply unsatisfying. I presume they cut it to either have the proper ending in a collector's edition or a third part. Regardless that just leaves you with a bit of a wtf moment…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Voices are a bit annoying and the game is short but it was entertaining.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall I was very amused by this one - there are some delightfully tongue-in-cheek references to classic and more contemporary fantasy tales, and wandering the kingdom was a nice break from solving hidden Object games in rooms. This game will definitely be a treat for the princess in your life .. or your inner princess.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easy. Pedantic. Childish. BUT, the witch at the end is SERIOUS BUSINESS!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good HOG that continues the story from the first game, but the new story from the second game is weaker, the map is a downgrade to the one from the first game, the audio is nice, the puzzles are good and it still runs great in 2026. My rating 7/10, recommended for HOG lovers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I could say more, but it was honestly disappointing... I have played the 1st game several times, "Princess Isabella and the Witch's Curse", and you can tell that the quality went downhill in many ways. Character design wasn't the best on the 1st one, but the scenes, puzzles and the story was very well done, and the game overall was pretty much a high-quality one (definitely my go-to for a beautiful and relaxing experience). I wouldn't make a sequel if the outcome was going to be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →HOG from 2011 its the second game of princess isabella series this time witch is back for princess isabella child (her daughter) and the kingdom so what you gonna do about it? this one missing some bonus chapter .. just saying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its not easy but a marvellous game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just Finished Playing: Princess Isabella: Return of the Curse The real curse was the game crashing and screwing up my monitor resolution. I'm not sure if that was worse than the fairy and baby dragon voices. Urgh. Allright HOG aside from that though!
unlabelledView post →Unplayable Unable to change resolution to fill the screen. Max setting covered half of a 18" screen. The in-game options do not work, therefore unable to read the small text in the numerous dialogue boxes. The SFX are awful, sounds like a cheap arcade game and the fairy's voice is so annoying. As there's no achievements and the story seems so crappy there's no incentive to resolve the screen resolution problem to continue.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The end was far too abrupt. I am uncertain that I even won. The battle was over, a cinematic that explained nothing other than a baby being rescued by a dragon played, and then the credits rolled. I have no idea what happened. The hidden objects aspect of the game were standard. The game seemed convoluted. Somewhat enjoyable, but not nearly as much so as the first game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very original HOG series. See my longer review of the 3rd game. All of the games in this series have the same unique characteristics. Very unique soundtrack as well and I really liked it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice Point+Click game. Quality Game as expected from Artifex Mundi.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall I enjoyed this game. I liked the helpers and actually thought the voices were cute unlike other reviewers. I did not like the ending, however.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is goodddddddddddd it best for my mom
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sub-par hidden object game with bland HOG scenes and not much else to offer. Unusable, broken hint system is just the final nail in the coffin.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Return of the Curse is on the wrong side of average. The graphics are okay, and the sound is nice, but that's about all. The story is subpar even for the genre. The HOG scenes are mediocre. Dialogue is painful. There are none of the extras that better HOGs have taught us to expect. Most notably, however, it lags, stutters and skips. I can't understand why this should be. HOG games are not very demanding; it should run just fine on a potato. Yet apparently my computer is struggling…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's alright. I feel its functionality is a lot better than the first game, though it still has some hiccups. The hint system wasn't always that helpful. Pressing the button would have the helpers indicate the puzzle though if you were missing pieces to that puzzle, it gave no clue on where they were. The text on the map was so hard to read, especially the key. Being able to mute the helper outside of turning the sound off was nice. Story was fine for a hidden object. I got it on sale…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun HOG, though hints are sometimes useless if you don't know what to do in a room.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The sequel retains a lot of the charm from the prequel, with the VA continually being the main highlight. It does not seem to have strayed far from the model of the prequel in terms of the plot and the difficulty of the puzzles. However, I encountered quite a number of bugs on this one; many of which required a restart of the game to fix while some outright prevents you from progressing. A game you cannot finish is a game I cannot recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good graphics and user friendly, I enjoy as a way to pass the time and digress from a hard day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is going to sound unfair, I suppose, but here goes. This game didn't seem as well thought out as the first. The hog scenes seemed muddier, and overall, I think more time was spent on your charming companions than anything else. It also does not shut down, and you have to restart your computer every time you forget that and don't use you administrator powers. Honestly can't recommend at any price as it's a chore to have to take special actions to run a game. Also, was there less voice…
