Well done! After playing the first installment, I wasn't expecting much from this game but I'm glad that I decided to play it anyway. There is a decent amount of progress both in HOG scenes and puzzle design. Also Gogii Games managed to fit in some well processed plot explanations, accompanied by some bonus content. Following the explosion of the Arc of Humanity, Anna manages to escape in the nick of time. We awaken - this is becoming a thing now: passing out and waking up in completely…

I wrote a detailed review for the first Empress of the Deep and I don't feel up to writing another so I'll just quickly list the similarities and differences. - Number 2 is slightly longer than 1, much more so if you spend time in the bonus area and playing the new ZEM game. - Graphics are better. In fact, I've played this game more than once simply to view the beautiful scenery. - Puzzles aren't too difficult. - More and clearer hidden object areas than the first game. - Story is still very…

“The heaviest penalty for declining to rule is to be ruled by someone inferior to yourself.” ― Plato, The Republic Song of the Blue Whale is the sequel to the original game and extands Anna's story past her escape from her underwater sarcophagus in the previous game. Whilst her evil sister is destroyed her machinations continue as her ghost, literally, haunts Anna as she attempts to ascend to her throne. All the caricatures and cliches from the previous game have returned, but the delivery is…

If you played the first game in this series then you will enjoy this game. If you're a fan of the genre you may want to pick a better game, however. At a sale price I would recommend this game, at full price no. While it is improved somewhat from the last installment and does last longer, it's still very easy to finish in one sitting. The story was a little better but also more confusing, I still have no idea what kingdom Anna is even an empress of or what the heck is up with the spirits you…

First off let me say, skip the first game, you don't really need to play it to get what's going on in this one, save yourself the cash and the headache. Much, much better job in this game, lots of content even if it did only take me a few hours to get through it. I guess it feels substantial because of all the things you need to do. Graphics are great once again, mini games now come with a question mark so you can see what you are meant to do and the HO scenes are the right side of difficult.…

Short version: 73% Empress of the Deep 2, the middle part of a trilogy, faithfully follows the footsteps of the first game with even more astonishing visuals, better gameplay, and a more rewarding puzzle system. Long version: Empress of the Deep 2: Song of the Blue Whale changed little over the previous title: it still feels like a mixture of Myst-like adventure games with classic hidden object mechanics, plus a few easy puzzles added on top. This continuity is reflected in aesthetics that…

+ They improved the graphics a LOT compared to the previous episode. The 3D environment has much better resolution and textures, so the game actually looks great (the HO scenes less so). They also used hand-drawn art for the close-up scenes, which helps a lot. + Still very easy puzzles and quick-charging hints. The puzzles so far were mostly recycled from the previous game. + The HO scenes' graphic quality improved too, they are mostly easy now. The game kept some of the unexplainable objects…

The hidden object puzzles were meh, the other puzzles were far too easy. I couldn't get into the story at all - partly because of the bad voice acting, and partly because, well, it was stupid. There are many far better hidden-object puzzles out there, so I would skip this one. (But I'll still continue on with the last installment in the series, because I'm a stupid completionist)

I got this game for 50 cents and it's not worth it if you pay the full $5. It only took me around 5 and a half hours because I wanted to get all the trophies of this one mini game. Gameplay is a little better than the first, if you did buy the first installment of this game. For everyone else who made the wise choice of not buying the first one, gameplay was about average with almost zero creativity in making it enjoyable. You can't make it more difficult so it should take an adult with a clear…

Remember Empress of the Deep? After failing to save the Ark, thanks to your evil twin sister Pandora who had with her a giant explosive, you're waking up on a beach, with a new mission: get in the Temple of the Clouds or the Palace of the Sky and free the Children of the Lights and their guardians. However, another voice is also speaking with you, so, unless Pandora faked her death, you have to listen to Jacob and this new protagonist... The plot is expanding: Pandora cursed the floating…

After finishing out the first one, I started on the second one and I was more pleased with this one! The story was more put together, you felt more connected and weren't as annoyed with the main character. You play as Anna once again - waking up after escaping the underwater kingdom - but this time you must find your way up to the floating Temple of the Clouds with animal companions you save through the game and try to save the Children of Light from your evil sister before she unleashes the…

Empress Of The Deep 2: Song Of The Blue Whale is an ancient game from 2007. It's a whopping 16 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks proper widescreen aspect ratio support (it's locked at 4:3) or support for any modern gaming display resolutions, hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on modern gaming PCs. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an ancient game. This seems to have been put on Steam as a nostalgia gouge. This…

Continue your journey as Anna as she attempts to restore her kingdom and memories. The complaint with the first game is that it was too short and as any true sequel Empress 2 is twice as big and has twice as much to offer. Since this is a hidden object game and since you've mostly likely already played Empress Of The Deep 1 there's not much else to say, it's bigger and there's more of it, so give it a shot if you enjoyed the first game.…

Empress of the Deep 2: Song of the Blue Whale (2007) Much like the previous game in the series the puzzles remain fun with no time limits to rush you. You continue the story of Anna after the secrets uncovered from the first game. The look of the game is still that "classic hidden objects" look as the game kept a lot of what the made the first game great. Worth a shot if you enjoy hidden object games. 7/10

pros - gorgeous looking and colorful background artwork - good voice acting - engaging fantasy world and atmosphere - story is intriguing - hidden object elements are fun. - hint system very helpful - there is auto save - there is also a stone match mini game cons - after a while game's quests and puzzles turns out to be repetetive.

Like the first entry in this series, it's especially easy. However, there are now more and better hidden-object scenes,. such that you can honestly classify this as a "hidden-object game." But I enjoyed it less than the first one. The go-there-do-this gameplay is boring, the story holds no wonder, and there's no additional revelation about the game world. It almost feels like a bonus level for the first game. But production values are OK. If you enjoy especially casual point-and-click…

my mom made me like hidden object games from childhood and I played a lot of them, my favorite ones would be the the Sprill game series made by Five-BN studios, which I strongly recommend to buy on bigfish if you're into hidden object games the game is good/ OK for a 2007 game, but there are many stuff that holds it back first I'm very disappointed how the game utilizes its resources so few. the scenery when you enter an area can be quite beautiful and makes you appreciate the early 2000s…

HOG are my go to relaxing game but I just can't recommend this one. The game holds your hand too much by making everything you can interact with sparkle and basically telling you exactly what you need to do. The voice acting is incredibly boring and made me want to sleep. You can't speed through conversations. You either skip the cut scene entirely or listen to the whole dialog. The only pleasant part of the game was during HOG scenes. Whenever you click on the correct item it makes a very…

Game 2 in a series, though story wise ok-ishly independent; the game gives you a summary of game 1 to read if you so wish. You play Anna in first person, trying to save the Temple of the Sky from the curse set upon it. Decent, linear story, with quite a bit of backtracking, much like the first game. Very averagely entertaining, as the first game. Enjoyable art though the 'blurryness' of it makes it harder to see the hidden objects in puzzles. Hidden objects outside of the puzzles in this game…

The idea that attractive women in video-games are somehow 'offensive to women' is insane. Hidden object games are targeted exclusively at women, & here you have the main character being a conventionally attractive white woman. She is not ugly, she does not look like a man, & she does not look like she has too many chromosomes. & yet action games presumably targeted primarily at young men have deliberately ugly female characters. /rant Good stuff: - Despite being an old game, runs just fine…

This may have been good back in the day, but on a modern PC it's unplayable. It does not support widescreen, and running in windowed mode on a HD monitor it's so small you need a magnifying glass. Worse, though, is how slow the transitions are. I'd expect even if these were slow back in 2007, they'd be OK on a modern PC. But they aren't.

Navigating maps? *high pITCHED MANIACAL LAUGHING*. Trying to sleep after playing the game? *GETS WOKEN UP AT 4AM HEARING HIGH PITCHED MANIACAL LAUGHING*. Very obnoxious. Empress of the Deep 2: Song of the Blue Whale has an interesting story and a unique underwater atmosphere, but the gameplay can feel a little repetitive in places. I enjoyed the exploration more than some of the puzzles, which were occasionally too straightforward. Still, the setting gives the game plenty of personality, and there are some memorable moments. Overall, a decent adventure, although it could have benefited from more variety. Enjoy :)
