It just definitely isn’t the most exciting and when it got to the end I didn’t even really understand who was who or what was going on to be honest. It just wasn’t gripping enough for me to care (although I do have a short attention span, to be fair). HOG wise it’s alright, the objects are easy enough to find and I personally had no problems with how the items were proportioned/photo shopped in. I did find myself…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is squeaking by with a recommendation only if you can find it on sale, because it is very short and there are some minor issues that bothered me. This is what I term an "Artifex Mundi" style of hidden-object/puzzle game in that there is a combination of hidden object, inventory management, and mini-game puzzles to solve. The game is not particularly difficult and as I mentioned, it is quite short. The plot isn't spectacular, which doesn't bother me too much personally but might be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: don't recommend the game; do recommend that some graphic designers be sacked. After playing for about an hour, I was going to give this a positive review. Seemed like a pretty typical hidden object game, nothing spectaculor, but it had well-designed hidden object scenes, a good ratio of hidden object scenes to puzzles, and a customizable difficulty setting -- which is a big plus in my book. Unfortunately, as I continued playing, the hidden object scenes started getting sloppy: some…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a bad game. The detective story is decent and the items and puzzles are surprisingly meaningful. However, there are too many downsides: Very bad graphics and lack of animations. It looks like a game from 2001. It's very short, I've finished it in about two and half hours. There are way too many hidden-object scenes. The "helmet placement" puzzle is broken and can't be solved. Skip button saves the day.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dear Steam, we who like to write comments about the games need a third button, NEUTRAL. We want the button, and we want it now. Now. I don't want to give this game a negative, because it doesn't deserve it. On the other way, I can't recommend it with confidence because there are glitches. A neutral button would be fine here. Dark Lore Mysteries is an Artifex-style HOG. You are a detective who need to solve a murder. Unfortunately, you'll discover that the villian is not an ordinary man but an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent game. Kinda short and a bit simple but the story wasn't too bad and was interesting enough for me to want to finish the game. I'd recommend grabbing it on if it's on sale, the game is a bit too short for me to say it warrants the full price tag, even if five dollars isn't a lot. However, if it is on sale and you enjoy hidden object games with a fair amount of puzzles then grab it up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very short, mediocre hidden-object game. There are better ones. The story makes very little sense and there is no character development. Otherwise, the graphics are nice and the hidden puzzle scenes adequate.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story didn't make much sense at all. My character drew a conclusion about who was guilty and I barely even knew who the person was. The HOG part was fine, standard. I found sometimes the items I clicked on wouldn't register. The puzzles were pretty typical, although some were buggy. There is one puzzle where you have to draw lines between a peg and a hole using the mouse and it would constantly reset for unknown reasons as soon as I got close to the end. Very frustrating. There are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like puzzles and point and click fun this game is great. I do like that kind of thing the story i thought was Pretty good too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I quite liked this HOG. There was the option for skill settings, and as I like my hand held as little as possible, this worked well for me. Some reviews complained it was too confusing finding the areas, though I liked 'actually looking' for things. This made it feel more interactive, instead of looking for where the cursor lights up. And as for 'looking' despite other reviews describing the HOGs as too muddy, I get what they mean, tho once again, I enjoyed the challenge. If there were timed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm pretty disappointed about this one. Maybe it was just misfortune that I played this way later after having experienced some really fun games from Gogii, but it ended up leaving a bad taste in my mouth. And mind you, it says it's been developed in 2013, and it felt so much older than that. Despite having a map and activity indicator, the lack of fast travel kind of made me weary since the scene transitions took a while. I don't think it's...really worth anything for the price. The graphics…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's one of those games where I'm not going to say yay or nay. It started out good, loved the atmosphere the settings and background music not to mention an intriguing mystery. However, somehow it got repetitive and the story unfolded in an unorganized and rushed manner. I'll give it a yes as to give you a chance to judge yourself. If it's on sale get it's a short one and you might like it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’d probably go with a mixed review if I could. It’s not terrible, but there are better games out there. This game is a combination of hidden object scenes and a point and click adventure. There were more hidden object scenes than usual for this combination, but there were only twelve objects hidden in each scene. I would have preferred fewer hidden object scenes and more objects to find in each scene. I’ll go with a thumbs down because there’s no instant travel map. The plot had potential,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a good game for beginners, as it isn't too complicated. There are plenty of hidden object scenes and a handful of simple puzles. The plot is a bit contreived and takes a lot of liberties... but there have been far worse. Grab it on sale for a quick HOG fix.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard to recommend this properly, it has a plentiful supply of HO scenes which are easy to complete. The storyline is merely average fare and the puzzles are again easy to complete. Sometimes it is not always obvious which items should be used within the scene and a little "trial and errror" would be involved with no actual idea why it worked. I would suggest to purchase with a large discount applied and expect around 2-3 hours maximum to completion. Overall I score it a "Yes" marginally.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun point and click murder mystery. The story could of been longer and a little more refined, but still good fun. In a city of Pennsylvania, a Magistrate is murdered in a suspected way. You are called in to investigate this murder and discover the secret of this little city. I recommend this game if you are looking for a fun relaxed puzzle game with a nice mystery.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aww shucks. This is one of those old school H.O.Gs and I adore them! Map teleport isn't necessary as the game is not only short, the passageways are rather simple and you wont backtrack as much as you might think. That and well... There isn't much to explore anyway lol. Some mini-games are creative. Some I can't solve for the life of me. But that's normal with H.O.Gs. I love me just straight up lots of H.O. scenes, so this one was right up my alley. It isn't obnoxious. It doesn't lag…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pros - good looking graphics - creepy atmosphere - easy puzzles (if you don't want to challenge) - intriguing and exciting story - cool background musics - hidden object elements are fun. - well made cut scenes - there is auto save cons - there are some badly designed trial/error puzzles. fortunately you can skip if you don't want to solve them. - game is too short - there are no Steam achievements - game doesn't drop cards
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hidden Object Game telling the story of the legendary Vlad the Impaler and his quest to bring his dead wife back to life. The HO scenes are good enough and there are some challenging puzzles, the possibility to customize the difficulty settings is a nice change from similar titles. Unfortunately the game is extremely short (less than 2 hours at highest difficulty!) and the story could have been interesting with more depth, but the end is abrupt and disappointing. The graphic design is not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a really awesome and fun game. I liked the hidden objects and good graphics would recommend it highly
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dark Lore Mysteries: The Hunt For Truth is an older game from 2014. It's a venerable 10 years old at the time of this review. It's a Hidden Object puzzle game, the type you normally see on mobile app stores or even as browser apps. There's literally hundreds of these on Steam, mostly published by Artifex Mundi, many of them free on mobile app stores, but this one will cost you money on Steam. There's a old timey horror/magic theme to the game, but this is a just a veneer over a tired and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →once again another proof that old HOGs are just amazing! pros great story many puzzles nice voice acting (though got accent) many locations cons. very short (only a bit more than one hour and 40 minutes) no bonus story i had two bugs one that won't let me play the game in full screen (had black screen) and my mouse courser was not pointing in the right location. i fixed both with playing in windowed mode and changed my desktop resolution to 1080p other than that i highly recommend this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommend on sale.. I guess. Pros .Fair artwork/graphics/scenes .Pleasant music/sounds/voice acting .Three difficulty modes including custom .Mini-map with indications of actions available .Stationary toolbar .Gears appears when object in place for possible use .Simple to mildly intricate adventure play .Lots of satisfactory hidden object scenes .Easy to mildly challenging, non-standard mini-puzzles Cons .Poor storytelling .Flat atmosphere ,Smudgy artwork/graphics/ in adventure play scenes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is yet another middle of the road games. It is very pretty straightforward and predictable. The story is the usual sort of deal, no major twists and not particularly bad. It honestly started out well in the very beginning, which made it all the more disappointing. The major problem is just how dated and bland it looks. I would easily have believed this was a far older game than it is, simply because the grapics are so sad and the cutscenes were downright pitiful. Whoever did the voices of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enough to keep me entertained for 2 hours. Loved the art of the HO, hated the art of the cutscenes..
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh, I've played worse. It's not worth the 5 Euro it currently asks, but a buck or two might not be wasted. My main issues with the game are the click sound (or whatever it is) which is rather annoying, and the lack of a map, which I've come to expect of these games nowadays. Without map it's often a guessing game to know where to go next. Or requesting a hint, which works fairly well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played quite a few of this sort of P&C/HOG and I'd rate this one overall, about average. I thought the story, VO, and graphics were decent and enjoyed the hidden object puzzles' art and found their difficulty slightly above average. And although the mini games weren't particularly challenging (and did include many of the same ones you find in all these types of games), there were a few unique ones I haden't seen before. One thing this game does better than most, is to allows the user to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very mediocre hidden object game. It's mostly just one hidden object scene after another, which would be all right except that the artwork just isn't very good. What little story it has is bland and confusing. I am tempted to give it a marginal thumbs up simply because it's cheap and functional, but on the other hand there are so many better games out there that it's hard to justify spending any time on this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dark Lore Mysteries: The Hunt For Truth is a solid effort in the HOG genre. It doesn't do anything particularly well or unique, but it doesn't do anything badly either. The voice acting, graphics, and sound are all average to above average, the story is a familiar one with a slight twist at the end. There's very little negative to say about the game, other than the fact that there are a lot of HO scenes, bordering on too many, and not enough puzzles, and one of the HO scenes was annoying due to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easy to play puzzler with some nice narrative twists, only marred by being rather short, though worth purchasing when on offer. 74/100
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game on a steam sale, I was hesitant even then due to the poor ratings. It was a pleasant enough game, the storyline seemed a bit shaky but the hidden object scenes and puzzles were of decent quality. I had a few tiny bugs of the game not registering when clicking on objects but otherwise I had no problems. If you are able to find this game on sale, I recommend it. Happy gaming!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. I enjoyed playing it. Lots of HOGs and puzzles. Some harder than others but all doable. I give it a 7 out of 10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Average point&click and hidden-object game. Few puzzles, mostly HOS. Don't like its graphics. Boring, IMHO.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty easy and linear HOG. Nothing special. One minor bug in the helmet sorting. Artstyle is so-so. Good in a bundle, but there are better ones out there.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice game but was made too small and things began repeating and on and on. need long and good to play without using any hints and solve button. THANKYOU
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →too short, too simple, bad graphics.. can't recommend it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dark Lore Mysteries: The Hunt For Truth, developed by Gogii Games and published by Strategy First, is a hidden-object adventure that blends mystery storytelling with classic point-and-click puzzle mechanics. Set in a quiet town shaken by a brutal murder, the game casts players in the role of an investigator tasked with uncovering the truth behind a series of unsettling events. As the investigation deepens, it becomes clear that the crime may be tied to a darker history that has long lingered…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's mostly one HOG after another
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad HOPA game. Lot of HOP scenes. Game is incredibly short. Really only worth it if it's on sale. Also, only recommend to fans of the genre who use it as a time filler.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple but atmospheric
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, not a bad game. Definitely not the best of the hidden games out there. Most puzzles were pretty easy to complete, same with the hidden object interactions. Some hidden object areas had multiple things on the list hidden in the puzzle, but only one was the "correct" item. Story was okay, but could have been improved. If you can get it on sale, that would be a better bargain. Game is less than $5.00 but there are no achievements and it's only a couple hours of game play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An uncomplicated, 10y+-old HOG. If you spam-click in the HOG sections, you can complete the casual mode in ~2h. Inoffensive game, but would never buy as a standalone with the lack of content. Get as part of a package where it's super cheap. Advice up front: if you have a monitor with a resolution greater than standard FHD (1080p), play in windowed mode. The scaling above that resolution seems to throw off click-position which is incredibly maddening with hidden object games....or really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dark Lore Mysteries: The Hunt for Truth is a fun little mystery game with a creepy atmosphere. I liked exploring the locations, finding hidden objects, and trying to work out the truth behind the story. A decent mystery adventure with good atmosphere, although it could have used more variety and a stronger story. Enjoy :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only thing I didn't like about it was the song.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short and easy to finish, but still fun to follow the storyline. If you are looking for what seemed dang near impossible to complete challenges then they have a timer on certain challenges and all of those are way too fast in my opinion. The timer however doesn't seem to have a purpose beyond just being there, because I beat the timer like 3 different times and got nothing out of them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lots of fun and great graphics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its not a bad game, just kind of goofy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright Gameplay, Graphics, Adventure, Puzzles, Needs Maps, A lot of Hidden object scenes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the vampire theme! This game was a bit short, but the price reflects that. Worth playing if you like vampires!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short but a nice little HOG if you like dark atmosphere.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An occult themed adventure. Very straightforward and on the predictable side, but overall a good time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got dark lore mysteries a couple of weeks ago so far it is a interesting game hope they make more of them. jimmie
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoyed this, had a great story and moved at a nice pace
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love HOGs, I really do and I really want to like this one. But as others have noticed the search games are a hot mess thanks to the muddy graphics. It's a pity as it stars off reasonably strong. But as the plot drags on, and keeps contradicting itself, well.. I forced my way through to the end using the hints and as for that ending? Bad graphics, subpar music, uninspired plot that confused me as I wasn't even sure what century we were in. Still, if you like this sort of thing, give it a go…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: Adventure - WC - Hidden Object Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Uninteresting story. Uglier engine than almost any other HOG game. Cheap cutscenes. Inventory hotspot puzzles. Subpar overall. Not worth the time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty decent hog game, not groundbreaking or anything like that and there are many hog games better than this one but it's ok :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hopefully if you're looking at this review you are familiar with the nature of these games. They are very minimalist games largely the result of the mobile app rush. Mostly a hidden object game with some point&click elements. Story is somewhat above average and some of the twists did manage to be surprising. The game is accurately priced to the minimalist graphics and mechanisms. Most of the puzzles are pretty decent if standard fair and the biggest difficulty is likely to be in some of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably my favourite of this genre i've played up until now. Still, if hidden object ain't your bag then this isn't worth it. But if it is, you'll enjoy it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's ok, but a bit boring.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm going to say no to this one. Lots of Hidden object scenes. Interesting spread of puzzles. But honestly half this game doesn't really make intuative sense. Like why would I normally put this object here and then do what with it? It's odd, even for me. Some of it is good but the rest counter acts it. Story is .... odd? Ending is Eh. Oh theres no cards for this or achievments so the best way to do the Hidden object scenes is to click like a madman. I will say they put a ton of crap in the…
