As he prepares to battle the pirate crew's American ace, Porco Rosso enlists the help of spunky girl mechanic Fio Piccolo and his longtime friend… From TMDB

60 of 138 · most liked firstPorco Rosso is my fav Miyazaki film bc it features an expressly antifascist protagonist and because it doesn't feature an overtly cute central character that can be merchandised, which is a nice filter that lets you connect w ppl who see something deeper in Miyazaki's films. ALso the cigarettes

unlabelledView post →I find myself thinking about Porco Rosso this morning. It's both my favorite Ghibli and antifascist movie, because it illustrates the incredible power of a simple "no." Porco doesn't respect fascists at any level. He doesn't respect their law or power or culture. And they can't stand it.
unlabelledView post →Has there ever been a cooler guy in a movie than Porco Rosso
unlabelledView post →Porco Rosso, as a film, is unc (good)
unlabelledView post →Wow what a literally perfect holiday movie. Porco Rosso levels of "i wish I could forget this and immediately rewatch this" and "why have I waited so long to watch this holy shit"
unlabelledView post →Me and my partner just watched Porco Rosso recently. One of my favourite lines has a similar tone.
unlabelledView post →Porco Rosso is criminally underrated A nostalgic film for a period most of us were never alive to experience

unlabelledView post →Porco Rosso was great. If this film came out in our current political climate, the culture wars would turn against Miyazaki for being against fascism.
unlabelledView post →I am, of course, a mild hypocrite because I set my Signal profile picture years ago and just yesterday remembered that everyone has been talking to Porco Rosso, the Miyazaki pig-man who loves a glass of wine and a trip to the movies, and hates fascists
unlabelledView post →1992 Japanese movie poster for Hayao Miyazaki’s fabulous “Porco Rosso”. “I'd rather be a pig than a fascist.”
unlabelledView post →Happy to announce I've officially seen every Studio Ghibli film. I think my favorite is Porco Rosso. But Nausicaa is a close tie.
unlabelledView post →Porco Rosso is the better antifascist film, and Howl's Moving Castle is better about the horrors of being forced to carry out a stupid war, but I think "Wind Rises" is as keen an insight as ever put to film about How Engineers Dream and what that means when the military is the only buyer that exists
unlabelledView post →1. Porco Rosso used to be my least favorite movie as a teen, but as an adult, I feel like that movie aged like fine wine and is vastly underrated. 2. Regarding the WH post, WHAT IN THE COLLECTIVE MULTIDIMENSIONAL GARDEN OF FUCKS IS THAT POST?!?!?!?

unlabelledView post →LRP reminds me. if you like Ghibli movies but haven't seen Porco Rosso yet you GOTTA. the pig movie goes extremely hard. the pig movie fucks. i was expecting the whimsy but utterly unprepared for everything else. nobody talks enough about how good Porco Rosso is

unlabelledView post →I don't think HERON is a "perfect" masterpiece the way MONONOKE, NAUSICAA, KIKI, SPIRITED AWAY, PORCO ROSSO are, but it's such a weirdly intense personal swan-song of a film that I don't think you can do anything but stand back and admire the vision and the audacity to make it.
unlabelledView post →Now watching Porco Rosso both because it is a great movie and “I’d rather be a pig than a fascist”
unlabelledView post →Love that a film as wonderfully strange and heartwarming as Porco Rosso exists. Studio Ghibli would be top of my list of studios to adapt the Witches of Woodville books.
unlabelledView post →Pig Daddy, as I call him, from Porco Rosso definitely has the vibes of someone who is really good at sex. Porco Rosso is Miyazaki's most John Ford movie. I am at the gynecologist, and this is what I'm thinking about to waste time.
unlabelledView post →Took my son to the cinema for the first time to see his favorite film, Porco Rosso. Love that theaters switched to the classics. “Better a pig than a fascist.”

unlabelledView post →Porco Rosso is such an amazing film. I love it so much.
unlabelledView post →Just watched Porco Rosso and damn this is a good movie.
unlabelledView post →Also if you've never seen Porco Rosso you oughta, it's a really nice movie that ends with two guys very platonically beating the shit out of one another, which I think only happens in that movie and The Quiet Man (which I believe Porco Rosso was inspired by)
unlabelledView post →Incidentally, Netflix UK has just 5 films from 1992 (Last of the Mohicans, Porco Rosso, Reservoir Dogs, Roja, Chamatkar), and only 2 from 1990 (Swedish film Black Jack, Indian film Agneepath).
unlabelledView post →Porco Rosso is a great movie
unlabelledView post →Watched Porco Rosso this evening. It’s been a while since I last saw it. A good film, with one of the best lines in any Ghibli movie “I’d rather be a pig than a fascist”
