The mouse movement is absolutely sluggish - but there's an option to speed it up in the settings. You have to press "Exit" before you can get to the settings screen, though, which made finding that option a little difficult--I didn't want to risk losing my progress after that aggressive intro screen! That being said, it seems as though the mouse movement speed isn't particularly consistent or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game on sale since I was leery of buying it at full price given the reviews, and after playing for a bit I honestly see why they're mixed. The game has a lot of neat mechanics it does well, like swapping dimensions, buffs you can buy from the doctor to make fighting easier, and a priest to get rid of the ghosts. The art style of the game is also really charming and unique. Seriously, there's little musical numbers between the stages. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ adorable! Story is bare bones, but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While the art direction is good, the rest of the game is mediocre at best. There are still a number of bugs, including some freezes or slow downs that will kill a run. Also, every play feels almost exactly the same. The card items don't really do much, often summoning allies that just sit there or occasionally do something useless. The attack type items are generally not much more useful than your gun. The "missions" are the same 4-6 tasks repeated again and again. There's no variety here.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is good, it is good yes. First of all it is all what is promising. Spooky, survival, mystery, roguelite adventure. The music is good, the aesthetics are as are shown and the feel of the controls is good, the unlock of items and clues rate is also normal to keep me interested. If it continues to amaze me after some more runs (3-4 till now), and the mystery, traps, quests and riddle generator feels fresh, then it is a good buy that will entertain me for hours as roguelites should.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun rouge game, Its a mix of puzzle solving, fetch quests that are not tedious, and combat that's not too difficult but gives you a run now and then. The games graphics are very well done, the detail with the cardboard cutouts is well executed. When interacting with the environment, its fun to move the item around and see it from all sides. I found the little mini games to be quite challenging the more time I spent on it, a good example is the "wheres the card" game, thinking its a quick…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Paper cut mansion is a new roguelike, exploration, puzzlers from Cambridge based developers Space Lizard Studios and is published by Thunderful on both PC and Xbox. You play the part of a young detective called Toby, who, finding himself mysteriously now made out of cardboard has to explore a creepy mansion to piece together what exactly is going on. Paper cut mansion is a game a desperately want to like, it's premise and artistic approach immediately ingratiated it to me. However it's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rather wanted to like it due to the aesthetic, but the gameplay is tiresome at best. It's clunky, repetitive and at some point you die to a random trap and have to restart the game. Just couldn't find enough here to redeem it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game but I just felt so lost and I didn't understand why I was doing anything, and the NPCs just kept telling me about the moth a million times. It gave the illusion of being story rich at the start and just fell really flat. I love the concept but it feels so incomplete.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game's concept is great, but the actual gameplay is... It's just not there. The best way I can describe it is: "Style over substance." And while I love the concept and style of it, I got so bored and annoyed with it that I didn't even want to finish my first run. If you're interested, try the demo first before buying the game. See if you enjoy it first.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a promising game with cool art style and very appealing music. I already spent an hour in my first run and I feel like I haven't even started. This game is definitely a hidden gem, so I would suggest trying it out in my opinion.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game needs work. It looks really cool and seems like a cool concept but the controls are absolutely unplayable as is. The mouse is absurdly sluggish and the right-click, aim, left-click combat literally does not work. My character will still spin around when I try to walk backwards. The controls just a break this game until they get that resolved.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let me start by saying the game is very fun... until the first death. The fantastic visuals, great music, and engaging gameplay come together for what could have been a fantastic horror/ puzzle game. The problem is the needless time-padding by adding the rogue-lite elements, such as randomized levels and arbitrary difficulty spikes. With a little more time spent on the story and meaningful level design and less on hitting the "play it until you hate it" trend, this could have been a game people…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art is absolutely amazing, the music is great, the lyrics are hilariously bad, and the boss on the last floor feels unbeatable. Like I hit a complete wall during it's second phase because nothing i did seemed effective. Looking at how to beat it, one of the things i tried, just did not work like it was suppose to? Either way it brought me to a halt, and i just didn't want to continue. I see people complaining at the controls, but I think it's on purpose. See the controls are clunky, but in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ignore the haters - this is one of the most refreshingly distinct survival horror titles in years! Beautiful aesthetic, great storytelling. Absolutely worth your time!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great concept but poor execution, the devs did everything right BUT spoiled it all in the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_sF5muGkp8 Pro: great artwork, great immersion, interesting characters and exploration, unique game Cons: badly explain tutorial, badly explained mechanics and they split the game into 3 dimensions You use portals to switch between 3 dimensions: 1 is just clues, puzzles and dodging traps(best one), one is where you continously take damage(worst one) and one where…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute and charming game, really love the art style, but the way it plays is also fairly unique. I don't play a ton of Roguelite games, but I do own a lot of them and generally get frustrated and quit, so far I have not done that. Ran into one glitch where the game insisted I died even though I was still alive and well, but that's been my only problem.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really good. Having a blast playing it on Steamdeck (although it took a bit of compatibility fiddling to get to work). Has a good mix of puzzle, survival, and action wrapped in a really cool visual style.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Currently impossible to even complete normal mode. "Final" boss can't be defeated. Health gates with a puzzle mechanic that is impossible to trigger, the boss's attack won't ignite the nessesary objects.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Writing a review after I died 10times. I don't believe I can beat on normal mode(the floor6). anyway, I'm so impressed by beautiful paper cutting artwork, music and spooky atmosphere!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very charming and a with a genuinely creepy atmosphere straight out of A Nightmare Before Christmas!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gorgeous artwork and music but very awful gameplay for me, I did like the combat it was simplistic but did what it needed too, but the endless running around trying to figure out how to progress did become quite tedious. Just know what to expect and you will enjoy yourself.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a masterpiece: the artwork, the music, the funny interactions with NPCs, the way each run feels like a completely different experience from your previous one. It's challenging but rewarding, it males you want go back times and times again trying new sets of equipment to best fit your gameplay style. The craftsmanship behind this game is absolutely admirable and I cannot wait to unwrap the whole story. 10/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game has incredible potential. cools themes, neat designs, some neat stuff. but tragicly they abandoned it in a rough state. bug here and there, some terrible balancing, glitches, and a rough boss fight (dmg zones dont match hitbox for both the player and the puzzle to beat it). i would not recommend anything by this developer/publisher if this is the state things are abandoned in.

unlabelledView post →It kind of had something going on, but game play feels terrible and hasn't received any improvements or updates of any kind for years.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What an exhausting experience. The options menu doesn't work, the controls are sloppy, hard pass on this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Streamed this game for 3+ hours -- Still adore the game. I gave this game an open mind when going into it, and I absolutely adore it. The art style, the game play, the visuals, sounds, the way to search items. It definitely is an unexpected jump seeing the ghosts. I now have trust issues with chairs and clocks. Excellent work dev. Ya'll did a wonderful job.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review does not contain any spoilers. Paper Cut Mansion is well-crafted, charming roguelite in which you explore, solve puzzles and fight to escape a haunted mansion. It has a right amount and variety of everything. Each level has a theme and 3 "dimensions" to explore, filled with traps, enemies, challenges and puzzles. It's atmospheric and tense. The artstyle is lovely, very charming and an obvious work of passion, crafted from hundreds if not thousands of hand-drawn images. The voice…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Paper Cut Mansion, developed by Space Lizard Studio and published by Thunderful Publishing, is an ambitious blend of roguelite mechanics, mystery-solving, and horror wrapped in an unforgettable papercraft aesthetic. At its core, it is a game about curiosity and repetition—a detective story filtered through surrealism, where every layer of the world seems to fold back on itself like a piece of paper being cut and rearranged. You play as Toby, a police investigator who finds himself trapped…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing the demo at Gamescom my interest was piqued for this game. Now having had some time with the full game all I can say is well done to the team! Gorgeous art style with lots of attention to details (even the UI is made out of paper!). Soundtrack and sound design is really well done as well. Catchy tunes and scary noises in just the right amount. Gameplay is very much roguelite gameplay so can feel repetitive but so far this hasn't bugged me yet at all. One minor point is that in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun and entertaining game! Some of the puzzles were very intriguing. The art and music are very original can't wait to discover more about the story of Mr. Caputo! ;)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this at a 92% discount and I can completely understand why people who had to pay more for it were disappointed. I also want to acknowledge that this is only the 2nd rogue light I play the first one being Castle Doombad Classic. I don't doubt for a single solitary second that there are significantly better rogue lights out there and I do intend to play those Pros: Genuinely memorable art style that is actually acknowledged like the game itself says that it sure is weird that these former…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't play long, but I like to see passionate developers get their due. This is an interesting game, but honestly- it's not great. It's more of a curiosity; a beautiful aesthetic and interesting gameplay concepts, but ultimately it feels underdeveloped and not quite as rewarding as it could be. I don't know what to add, or what's lacking; it just feels a note away from being a solid game. I'm not going to continue. I got it on deep discount; I would recommend there. If you're super into…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A beautiful presentation, all hand-drawn and paper-shaped as the name of the game implies. You're introduced to each level with songs that remind me of Tim Burton, full of naive desperation that fit the spooky theme of the game. The exploration is always pleasant, despite the combats being a bit basic. I'm not convinced the choice of making it a roguelike was the best one though, because of how long it takes to finish each floor. There are still surprises in each playthrough, but you mostly do…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very nice game. looks stunning, spooky, and has some scary moments. highly adviced as a casual game. wouldnt play a lot, though. replayability is high, but it can get (even if rarely) boring
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's clear that a lot of passion and originality was put into this game, but it does not offset the lack of gameplay focus, poor core gameplay loop, and really bad UX.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was SO brilliantly made and the creator should be so proud! Pros: The different dimensions, each with their own unique playstyle The art direction is top tier Gameplay is well thought out and fun Cons: It can feel a bit easy if you like the genre The moth mechanic is kinda negligible The upgrade mechanics seem like they could use some minor fine-tuning. The Creators really put a lot into the game. And the music numbers are lovely and tell the story in a fun unique way. I give it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ENG I don't really get how the devs created nice visuals, also added good voice acting and story cutscenes to the narrative. But at the same time, you’re confused by the idea of adding pseudo-roguelike elements, which force you to start from the very beginning every time you die, and the game doesn’t offer that much variety, so you can finish it pretty quickly. On top of all that, they created a ridicuous final boss where you have to chase him around the arena and figure out the mechanics at…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I stumbled upon this game while searching for something similar to Lost in Random (Eternal Die) or Hades—though I’m not entirely sure why it came up. The art style immediately caught my eye, and since I enjoy the horror genre, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, I was immediately disappointed to find that the game doesn’t support resolutions higher than 1080p—quite surprising for a title released in 2022. Still, I decided to push on to see if the experience might redeem itself. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Once I understood the game it became a lot more fun and absorbing. It is much better on a controller, just make sure to enable steam input if you aren't seeing the gamepad icons.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still playing it but so far i like it, playing w. a controller makes it a bit less clunky but all in all im enjoying it very much.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →another hidden gem!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing Game. It is not straight forward to learn how to move within the spaces, but once you understand how to do it, the gameplay becomes fluid and gives you great emotion, satisfaction and adrenaline. the card system is perfect. i love it, changes the gaming experience each time you play. The graphics are truly original, managing to make you laugh in the most desperate moments, excellent work. Great effort also in the music and sound effects, they manage to immerse you in the action. For…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art style and story are pretty unique. I am really enjoying the game, but it does need a little more polish. I would especially like to exit dialog by pressing escape instead of being taken to the menus while something is hacking it me and I cannot figure out how to get out of the dialog!!
