Is this game a masterpiece? Yep, as long as you don't expect more than a linear puzzle-platformer. It is a day like any other: We slumber peacefully in a secluded corner of the factory, when a flying yellow cube wakes us up. We follow the cube and are thrown into a tube by a mechanical hand ... The yellow cube now turns into a spear,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a huge fan of indie puzzle platformers, but I felt that this game could have been more of a story rich experience. Granted, the art style is amazing. But to be honest, no matter how beautiful the world looks, the environment design does not make sense. The puzzles are far too simple, with most sections having you to simply make it to the end by pressing down the right movement button. It felt like the environment was made just to accommodate a puzzle, rather than give meaning to the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Since Playdead’s 'Limbo', there has been a proliferation of puzzle platformers on the indie scene, including its spiritual successor – 'Inside' – a game many see as the pinnacle of the genre. 'Out of Line', clearly takes inspiration from these games, but has enough unique elements to make it stand out from the crowd. The hand-painted art-style of the game is wonderful, reminiscent of Studio Ghibli films at times. The love and care that poured into the game by developer, Nerd Monkeys, is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Out of Line is an incredibly good platforming game, the mechanic of using the spear to help you platform is a fun and unique idea making the game more enjoyable than other platformers. It's art-style and story-telling are both great and the puzzles are somewhat challenging yet still possible and enjoyable. Some complaints I would have is that giving a 2D platform game a 3D art style made some confusing elements for myself as a beginner. Specifically on the first chapter/stage, I often found…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't progress the game due to a bug, when I need to grab a chain the first time I grab a chain it works but further on it stops working and I can't grab any chains anymore, the game is literally unbeatable and the devs seem radio silent about it, idk if this happens to everyone but the game is literally broken.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed Out of Line. It is a lovingly crafted side-scrolling platformer in which you guide a small person through a series of environments. Along the way, he is assisted by a several characters who become an integral part of puzzle solutions. Your goal is to find 16 blue cubes and restore them to a central tree. The art is beautiful and the musical sound track is quite nice. There is no dialog. Although your character can (and probably will) die often, there are no violent death…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Run-of-the-mill short, linear, dystopian, indie puzzle platformer. The main mechanic throwing spears into walls to use as platforms, like [Speer DX]. The story is textless and vague, as usual.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid game! Simple and interesting mechanics with a cool little story. If you enjoy indie puzzle/platformers you will enjoy this one too! Recommend it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok, so, here's the general outline regarding this game: If you like ambient Puzzle Platformers that follow the footsteps of the genre mainly set by Limbo, then you will love this game. If you are a bit indifferent to the genre, chances are, that feeling will remain the same and it's not going to be this game the one to change it. Out of Line, in spite of executing every idea it brings forward flawlessly, plays it very safe in general, so while in the one hand there might not be anything in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played the Next Fest demo and loved it enough to pick up the full game, but I feel slightly hoodwinked since that seemed to be a large concentrated bulk of the puzzles that are on offer here. There were elements in the demo that hinted at an interesting story, but after playing the full title I'm left with more questions that answers. What is the the importance of the tree? Why does it produce blue cubes? Why do the blue cubes fly back to it through out the game? Where do these claws come from?…

San se embarcará en un peligroso viaje para restaurar el árbol sagrado para los seres de su especie, conociendo por el camino a dos extraños personajes parecidos a él. Uniendo fuerzas, y gracias a unos artefactos sagrados, estos tres personajes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Out of Line" is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. In fairness, this Nintendo Switch ported handheld platformer is far from the worst on Steam, and doesn't even feature terrible pixel "art", there's no prizes for being fairly tall for a midget. This puzzle platformer features some handcrafted art and has puzzles that revolve around simplistic physics and other activities, as well as a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like puzzle games with platforming then this game is a must buy. Graphics look good, soundtrack is great and the puzzles are not too easy neither too hard. There is no narrative so its up to the player to understand the story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very short, and yet quite repetitive, puzzle-platformer, saved by a great visual style. The game features 4 different environments rendered in a very beautiful painted style. However, the animations are a bit less polished, and some camera variations could have improved certain sequences. The story is barely present and open to interpretation, because there is no text and some situations felt rather ambiguous to me. What gives Out of Line a certain originality is the protagonist's spear. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My review to Out of Line You play as San as he tries to escape the factory that was once his home. He is being chased by evil machines. The game is short, but has very nice hand drawn levels with some puzzles. Also, this game has very well-done sound effects. Pro: + 2D Puzzle Platformer + Hand drawn levels + Full controller support + 16 Steam-achievements + Steam Deck Compatibility + Very atmospheric Contra: - A little bit complicated game mechanics - A little short gameplay time I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Obtuse storytelling and art style that definitely isn't for anyone aside, the gameplay is fun and interesting with no major difficulty spikes. Short game, yes, but fun and cheap.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Review from a 100% complete playthrough on the Steam Deck. To get Out of Line working completely you need to use Proton GE. I just used the latest version and that worked fine. You can easily get 3-4 hours of battery life and finish the entire game in one charge with 40 fps at 4 TDP. As for the game itself I think it's a very by the numbers LIMBO-type game that unfortunately is a bit on the harder side to recommend in earnest as it is way too buggy for it's own good. It's not very long and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really loved it. It has puzzles not so complicated but it's complex enough to have fun, beyond the so cute art. I recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cute and polished graphics and the puzzles are very engaging. It was well worth the money.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Where is my deluxe GOTY edition? :P This game is a great experience to play. Visual art, music, space and puzzles combine to invite you to think beyond while playing. I have seen criticism to the simplicity of some puzzles - I should say that competitiveness is not the message of the game, rather cooperation with friends (of different sizes). One idea seems to be that objects and people are only as good or bad as the purpose they get. In this game, there is a lot to reflect on man and machine.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short game, definitely worth a buy. It's largely a pretty chill game with a few bursts of "Ruuuunnnn, run little guy!" I enjoyed the art and the backgrounds a lot, I enjoyed the critters and the music. My main gripe came in the javelin. It really feels like a few areas it was made inaccurate. When going up the elevator, for instance, I was able to hit everything without a problem until ONE area where I just kept throwing and missing somehow even when standing RIGHT next to it before getting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Out of line isn't the best puzzle platformer ever but it's another good one to play if you like the genre like me. The spear throwing gimmick is used throughout the game in some clever albeit basic puzzles. There's glimmers of brilliance sprinkled inbetween and later puzzles have a nice difficulty curve. But it's not the sort of puzzle game where every challenge is unique such as INSIDE. Still though it's a game worth playing if only because of the beautiful hand painted art style. The world is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is something relaxing about these hand drawn games. Don't expect hard core platforming or to be blow away. The puzzles offer a moderate challenge and achievement hunting is pretty easy if you are curious. Over all I give Out of Line a 7.25 out of 10. A nice, little indie tile here.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short, sweet game with fun puzzles and a cool dystopian/steampunky vibe,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful game. Awesome story. Relaxing music. Puzzles aren't too hard and even if you can't upgrade your character along the journey, you will be able to use different objects in order to solve the puzzles. While the game could have been a little longer, it's worth every cent. And the end will probably surprise you. At least I wasn't expecting it...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gorgeous and with a lovely detail, Out of Line is a game that will leave you wanting more. The platforming is at the right level of challenge and it does have an intriguing story that leaves you guessing. I highly recommend this game if you're looking for a casual and heartfelt time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →В целом игра неплохая, но довольно много мелких недоработок, особенно они касаются геометрии объектов и взаимодействия с ними, вроде. В целом скорее плюс, но авансом, что подправят патчами.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →lots of fun for the price point. the game is beautiful. thanks for all the hard work. !!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very interesting 2D Platformer with a lot of Inside n' Limbo caracteristics but with a lighter atmosferic. Pros: Creative mechanics. Beautiful art. Nice soundtrack. Cons: The sound of the machines is extremely loud and not corresponding to the rest of the game. Puzzles r' too easy. Some fps drops.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! Beautiful art, ingenious puzzles and very atmospheric.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you're in line to develop a first person horror game GET OUT OF LINE we have enough.
unlabelledView post →Out of Line is a 2D Puzzle Platformer about a creature that finds itself awoken in a world and is lost looking for a way back, meeting different allies on the way to help on its journey. The game offers multiple stages full of puzzles and platforming sections for you to solve, your main ability is a spear that you can throw around activating gears, buttons and even use it to a wall to jump even higher distances. The game was short and simple with tight controls and mechanisms that were…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a beautifully crafted game! The art was fantastic, and the music was well done. Also loved the puzzles and the many different types we got to encounter. There was a minor bug where the chains(?) wouldn't latch on to the character and would have to click the right mouse button a few times before it did. Another one I did encounter (where I had to quit to the menu and return back into the game) where one of the bugs refused to go into one of the holes.

All I can say is that I liked the post-apocalypse world with esoteric elements. The story is told without words only by the beautiful hand drawn graphics of the game and all the paintings you see when playing. The graphic in this game creates a nice mysterious atmosphere. I think the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I verily like these mechanics. Use your spear as a projectile, a platform, a springboard, a lever, a rope bridge, a toaster... okay, not a toaster, but you get the idea. It's a Swiss army spear that you can recall at will. A lot of fun, therefore a lot of my thumbs go up; almost all of them. The art is great, which never hurts. A serviceable, typical indie-style story goes for oneirism or techno-poetry or something. The game is easy. It's also short, another current indie trend. No major flaw…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game, i love the art style and the smooth transitions in game play
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed this game. Plays well on Steam Deck.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Puzzles are nice. Had a bit of struggle with activating rope thingies. Sometimes they needed few clicks and running around to work.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The robots all have really great designs and the environments have a great blend of ancient and yet futuristic. The gameplay is fun and your staff feels good to control. The game finds lots of ways to use it for puzzles too! I have a lot of theories about the story and I like it when a game leaves it up to player interpretation!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely a fun little puzzle platformer, that does just enough variety with it's simple mechanics to keep it engaging for the couple hours it'll take to complete it. Art style is gorgeous, the characters and creatures are cute, the soundtrack/ambience to the game is good. If you like this type of game, it's def a nice little playthrough. Only wish there was a chapter select to go back and easily get the collectibles that I missed, but considering the play time it's not a huge ask to have to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am not a huge fan of platformers to begin with but i liked the art style of the game so i thought i'd give it a chance. The graphics are great but that's about it. The puzzles are not really interesting or challenging, the platforming is meh, there is not really a lot of story even if I have the feeling that the game wants to be really deep. There is only a little scene in the end that adds some sort of contect/ story but it's just not enough to lift up the rest of the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended if you want a short, very simple puzzle platformer. The game looks great and plays well but the puzzles are very simplistic and straightforward. There is a lack of overall story or emotions throughout. Gameplay is solid and the game looks good but again it is very simple and short.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played Out of Line entirely on Steam Deck and did not encounter any issues. I enjoyed this game! It's a short (~1.5-2h) puzzle platformer featuring a beautiful art style. There wasn't much of a story, but you play as San and befriend a few characters throughout your adventure. All of the game's mechanics revolve around San's staff/spear tool, which I found quite unique and interesting. Another review cited the game as having good music but I don't recall any music, only atmospheric ambience…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like puzzle games even though they can be a bit frustrating at times. This one was the right level of challenging for me though: enough to entertain, but not to have to keep on checking stuff online (I only had to once). I sadly think I missed a cube so I'm a bit disappointed to not have all of the achievements, but oh well (as a side note you can get all the achievements in a single playthrough which is always nice). At some point I thought the game ended, but it continued a bit more, it was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was a simple short game! I would recommend this game if you have a nerdy gamer boyfriend (like me) but you are not really a gamer – then this game is perfect! The controls are simple (only W, A, D and mouse R and L). It is possible to walk only L, R, up and down. The game starts a little bit slowly at the beggining (which is perfect for slow learners and annoying for gamers) but it does not last long. Also, the story is interesting as it unfolds during the game. This game is similiar…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short, fun and fairly simple puzzle game. Worth it when on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Today I beat the #puzzle #game #OutOfLine That was a fun little game. Several sections made me stop and think of a solution. Well done.
unlabelledView post →this game is short and sweet. the mechanics are fun and change a bit throughout the game. This game is visually stunning!!! and so is the music and the sounds!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finished this game in a day and it's such a fun, easy game to play when you want something that isn't frustrating. It's an adorable side-scroller with a hand-painted art style and very nice soundtrack. It reminds me a lot of Unravel (one of my favorite games). The learning curve is very small - none of the mechanics are too difficult to figure out - and I think this would be a perfect game to introduce non-gamers to. It's fairly straightforward at each stage to figure out what you need to do…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although a small game, it is a great indie linear puzzle game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute short game, simple but enjoyable. Although it adds another entry to my list of 'linear games that for some reason have collectibles yet implement no way of getting the ones you missed but to start a new game'.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super cute puzzley game, with story being revealed in the environment as you go! A little bit of platforming, but nothing super difficult. There were fun mechanics to figure out, sometimes quickly, but never too challenging so the game flowed really well. I loved the art, too!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really liked this one. It was intuitive and logical: no impossible puzzles that made no sense. At the same time it was challenging and engaging. I loved the art and the hint of story behind it, though it's not an unambiguous, straightforward narrative. Really enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very short platformer. Not much memorable moments but easy enough to pass the time. Graphics are up to taste but it's not bad in my opinion. Responsive enough controls and there are some timed puzzles (disclaimer for those who hate those). Again not bad, not really remarkable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game. I think this is probably the only platformer I've actually played through to the end in my 20-plus years on steam. Usually I'll try a puzzle platformer for an hour or so and then give up in total frustration having run out of patience and feeling like I was wasting my time. Something about this one hooked me right from the start and I never even considered uninstalling it and moving on. The world it creates is beautiful in its unique way and the difficulty was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun Adventure game, great graphics but doesn't have any chapter selection which is a big let down especially if you miss some of the missing achievements, you will end up having to play the whole game again.
