My V1.1130 review is coming soon* *This review is for V 1.739” Onikira looks like an awesome game by the video and pictures on the Steam Sales Page... However, for a game just out of Early Access it has a few too many basic day one glitches that should have been sorted out in general tests before even considering leaving EA. Also in its current state, it’s worse than what it was in Greenlight. Firstly, I haven't finished the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the blood-steeped lands of feudal Japan exists a history rich with gruesome folklore of oni and yokai, creatures of our minds creation that lurk in the darkness and haunt mortals from beyond. Onikira - Demon Killer takes a bold step into the darker side of Japanese tradition and mythology, pitting you against the dark energies of hellish realms that threaten to creep into the world of the living and feast upon the souls of the unsuspecting. The gritty, heavy visual style of the game and its…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →unless you enjoy endless crashing i would steer clear of this one. its a great game, tons of fun, but when i go to launch the game and load my saved game, it crashes within a minute. ive sent a support email to the devs with no response. their suggestion (in the discussions) for fixing it is deleting your save data and starting over. that would be fine except that doesnt work either. disappointing to see a developer neglect such a blatant and game breaking issue. you would think they would want…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10 EarlyAccess Rating! "Very promising 2D combo slasher (for an Alpha)." Onikira: Demon Killer is a 2D side-scroll combo hack'em'up. with a classical combo counter. It's Alpha build looks very promising & besides the *sometimes unsmooth feeling* - it's a quite progressed Alpha. Grab your samurai swords & slice'em... Current Features: Campaign & Challenge Arena (leader boards) Pros: + very good gameplay (response) + very good & own art style + good atmosphere + good graphics + good controls…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rather clunky mobile port. Crashing, bugs, and absolutely terrible control setup! I've read the game is enjoyable with it's native control setup but playing on PC seems like a nightmare. Perhaps try picking the game up on your mobile?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable. a game that should be removed from the store.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't understand all the rage, this is a great game, seriously. The animations, the sound, the controls, everything is fine or at least fair. Of course, it is not perfect, but what is ever perfect? Storytelling and the level design could be nicer (the levels look great, but there are some frustratingly placed environmental effects like fire that often kill you when you are not in the know), but heck that even goes for $40 games at times. I have heard older versions had serious bugs. As far…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another abandoned game to fill steam store and make profit based on old promises that just didnt saw the light of day. It was suported until 2015, short after leaving early access (wich had a more stable version tbh) and the issues started to arise, constant crashes, resseting configurations when ever you launch the game, resseting/deleting your savegame (until i started to make a backup of my save, i was unable to pass level 3), and i could go on, but its already enough to just leave it be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the first games I bought on Steam that made me start to not trust the impression I got from trailers and screenshots etc.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like this game. The frantic gameplay and clean but effective artwork is really well done and makes the game nice to play. Using an XBox controller, I found the fighting moves are simple, well laid out and relatively easy to learn. My only criticism is that the XBox controller does not seem to be used for the menu system, and it feels a little odd switching from mouse to controller and back again. This is almost certainly an oversight, which should be very easy for the devloper to…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a game that is in early access it is very well made. The fighting system is fluent and fun. It almost reminds me of Guacemelee due to the art and combo system. The different weapons/styles of fighting gives this game a bit of depth as well. The controls are super responsive, it is easy to feel like a badass while playing this. I play it on my Xb1 controller and it runs very well. I haven't seen an early access game to put forth such a competent game. Keep your eye's on this one! I cannot…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah, its bad.. the "digital furnace" burnt this one to a crisp..... mobile quality abandonware.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game looks good at first but it is very repetative, I wouldn't recommend buying this at all. So save you're money and buy Mark of the Ninja instead it blows this away.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have only had the time to play a few levels of this game and I am thoroughly enjoying it. The frame rate was a little low at 1080P on my ASUS G750 which made the combat system a little laggy but once I switched to 1440x900 it was completely smooth and made the combat system feel much nicer. It took me a little while to get used to the controls and I kept falling into fire but once I sorted the frame rate it was much easier to play and much more enjoyable. There is a wide range of enemies…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun game that is clearly in early access in the current version. It has a great art and a really enjoyable combat system, providing some good hours of beating the hell out of enemies. (:
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Did you loved the Devil May Cry 1,2,3? This game is the same thing except it's in 2D. Amazing graphics and shadows, smooth gameplay. Only problem, when there's fire and you fell, you will spawn on the top of the fire again, and that's the only problem. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Savage animations, and very cool art style. The weapons and fighting animations are slick, and there are many strategies to choose from with the weapon selection. The SFX are pretty crisp and well fitting. I love the houndish effect on the first enemy! The challenge is ramping up nicely, and I just keep hitting that retry button, which is a sign of a great game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun and will probably be great once completed, but.... there are some issues in alpha 479. Options: Difficulty setting N/A, Graphics didn't actually full screen on my system and selectable resolutions were lacking. Controls: (controller) was good enjoyed the layout and the way they did the weapon. the layout worked well, BUTTTT it looks like the 'focus/slowmo' isn't ready yet as the button does nothing. Upgrade system: Will probably be pretty good when completed. Only 1 or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow.. for me the most important part of the game is spot on, which is the combat. Extremely solid, some of the best I've played in a 2d platformer.. which leads me to believe this will end up being a very good game at the end of the day. Support this awesome game! Alpha games should be allowed a few months before people are allowed to leave negative reviews.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For an Early Access game this game is well put together and fun to play... Lots of beat em up action, and challenging bosses that will have you working on your fighting strategy... The action is fast and furious and fun. Definatly worth it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the style of this game, I was looking for a hack and slash and I thought this looked a bit like super metroid, so said I'd give it a try. The artwork looks great and its easy to get the hang of. Still bugs, but I suppose to be expected before release. Looking forward to coming back when its complete.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Where is the fix for this game? If the developers don't fix the game it should be taken out of steam? WTH?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Onikira is finally fully released and it's awesome! As a fan of Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry and other combo based Hack and Slash styled games, I can say that I fully recommend this game. It's dark and beautiful. The game's gameplay is smooth. Each hit I land feeling satisfying. Dashing around and swiftly taking out each demon that stands before me. My combo meter rises to show that I have done a good job. Like poetry with a sword... orrrr some haiku crap like that... The graphics are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, hats off guys, as this combat game is quite simply brilliant!! The beautiful hand painted art style, it's frenetic thumping soundtrack and most crucially, the superbly diverse combat encoutners all add up to an amazing gaming experience. You can tell that this has been made by people who have played a lot beat'em up titles, as the level design, move combinations and sheer adrenaline fuelled action is breathtaking. Well done!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It needs some work, but has a fun "castle crashers" kind of feel to it. Check out our full preview of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JL4BkrE9UlM
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun 2D game, the gameplay reminds me of Devil Mary Cry with mybe a little Bayonetta mixed in there, Game runs very well, had no problems with it and it looks very nice. Once it comes out of Early Access which will hopefully bring in more content I can see it being a game well worth the purchase.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looks a lot better than it actually is.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It just kept crashing out.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Avoid this game.... it constantly glitches. Awesome artwork and Wonky controls. Took me days to complete because of all the glitches......
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Written on 29.11.2020 Don't buy this game if you value your sanity. It's a broken mess that crashes when ever it wants. Enemies are boring an annoying. You often have to fight them over instant kill pits. There are color coded enemies for every weapon. And to top it all off game will drop your inputs left and right in addition to the ever increasing input lag the longer you play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is (you can probably guess from the overall rating) a bit crap. Honestly I've played worse games with a better rating but it's still ♥♥♥♥♥. At first this game looks quite good but after a while you'll see the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ flash game under the glossy surface. The writing is that of a 6th grader. The gameplay feels quite nice even tho it's a bit repetitive and the soundtrack is actually really good. If it weren't for the bugs (and oh there are tons of them) and the weird framerate drops I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The trailers would lead you to think this would be pretty good, but it's actually really clunky. Not really a fun game and there's better hack and slash and/or platforming games you can buy instead nowadays.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got killed by invisible flame 3 times in a row. I used my grappling hook on the enemy, he disappeared, then turned invisible and invencible, got stuck in the combat area, had to commit sudoku ( hey at least the developers put this in the game, because they know the game is garbage ). 10/10 If you spend too much time in the *Skills shop menu*, the game start to lag A LOT, and persist until you close and open it again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far this game has been a major letdown. The various glitches and framerate issues ruin the fun, and the combat pretty much boils down to mashing the X button since a lot of the special moves either barely work or are just worthless. The checkpoint system is pretty worthless as well as it doesn’t save your progress if you have to exit the game (or if it crashes, which it likes to do on occasion). Onikira has a LONG way from being in the same league as games like Shank 2, The Dishwasher, or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Broken on a lot of aspects and sometimes doesn't even work and the developers seems to be gone in some far away land, no way to repair this mess. Forget this game, buy something else
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was introduced to Onikira by a friend who had it in early access. We played the pants of it and I'm really pleased that it's finally got a full release. The gameplay is slick and subtle, I'm going to spend a long time sussing out the uber cool moves and spacial attacks. Graphically it's great and sounds smart too. The "just one more try" feeling keeps you coming back. Can't wait to play the new levels. Onikira is sick!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have played this for a few hours and I'm massively impressed. The art style and music grabbed me pretty fast and the mechanics have made me stay. Enemies start off pretty easy while you get to grips with each weapon, which can be switched to so fluidly mid combo for some great combat. I'd heartily recomend this to anyone.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →KAMGUSTA's mini Review They call it "Early Access", I call it "Tech Demo". Linear gameplay. Bad X360 joypad support. Dull graphics and music. Highly flawed (and they have been working on it for 2 years!), I have no hope for its future. Score 4/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rated it a buy. That is seriously fun despite some Alpha bits. http://youtu.be/mP5i70mdHcs
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very similar to dust, which means that it is absolutely repetetive :( All of a sudden, your way back and forward is blocked by an obstacle. Enemy creatures appear. kill them nicely. Then proceed to next road block. Do this process all the time. it is an endless loop...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Onikira is a good game.....when it works properly. The art style is unique and the gameplay is solid and engaging; the only problem is that the save feature is completely broken. If you move on to the next level and exit the game, it will delete all of your progress....except for the first level. Even if you somehow bypass the bug, it crashes during intense battles (i.e. the entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game), and if that's not bad enough, the framerate takes a nosedive at random intervals. And where are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Onikira is a fantastic beat 'em up, artistically beautiful to look at, and surprisingly fun to play! (Below is the Italian full review) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYaKCRO68Gg Onikira è un beat ‘em up a scorrimento 2D, ambientato in un fantasioso Giappone feudale, in cui il giocatore assume il ruolo di un Samurai che deve lottare senza sosta per salvare il Giappone da morti viventi e mostri di altro genere. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am stuck in game by constant game crashes stage 3 and beyond. As of right now I am stuck on stage 4 with no way of getting any farther. There is no point in playing a game that you cannot beat because the game crashes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Plot-light and carnage-heavy: despite a few rough edges, Onikira's blade strikes true! Onikira’s painted pseudo-fuedal-Japan is absolutely beautiful, with careful use of depth of field and parallax often creating the impression of playing through a painting. Mechanically indebted to Shank and the latest DmC, Onikira’s world is populated with imaginative, aggressive enemies - forcing you to plan your engagements quickly, shift your tactics to match your situation and fight like hell in search…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Stylish, Classic Inspired Action Hack'N'Slash Platformer, that hits all the rights spots to create a truly memorable experience. Taking inspiration for classics like Metroid, Castlevania and God of War, set against the backdrop of a Feudal Japan invaded by demons, this is not an experiance to miss! Best played with controller!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →More people need to buy this game. Firstly, because it's awesome and, secondly, so they'll finish it. :D It's early access right now, but the levels you get access to seem, for the most part, fairly complete. It's pretty much Onimusha 1 meets Mark of the Ninja, with less metroidvania than Mark of the Ninja. Gorgeous artwork, responsive controls, challenging encounters. It's looking to promise upward of 10+ levels with unlockable/obtainable weapons, skills, etc. It's a steal at $13 and you get…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2 out 10. The interraction with the target seem odds. No visual feedback when hit. No intelligence from the target npc. Waste of money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The spirit of DmC (and DMC in general) is strong with this one. Would like to see what it will turn out to be in the end. Need more "fighting" music. You know the kind that makes your blood boil and stuff.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am one of those lucky gamers who got the honor to try the early access of this awesome game. At first i thought it's a good game for leisure time, but after i try it i found it more than a good game, it contain a very good story, great music and awesome gameplay with impressive graphics. Even though it's in early access stage, but it's provide a tons of fun to play. can't wait for the final release and till that time i'll enjoy killing demons, extremely recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A clucky 2D action platformer with a nice graphic. A really disappointing game considering I played Bladed Fury before this one. The first time you start this game you get a nice feeling that this is going to be a good game but after you get into the gameplay you'll began to hate more and more of it. Such a shame
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a console-esque 2D arcade style platformer/brawler/hack'n'slash game where you play some Japanese dude that has to kill Oni, Japanese demons, by mashing buttons to do combos. It's broken, and doesn't launch properly, crashing out. The developers abandoned the game in a buggy/broken state yet leave it on Steam for $20. This is extremely unethical trying to scam money out of gamers for a broken game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like an unfinished mobile game. Too bad, because the art is nice and it has potential. The combat is a bit clunky and don't feel like you are hitting your enemies. Overall as I played tons of platformers, I can't recommend this one, there's so much better games for the price tag. I.E. Mark of the Ninja.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disclaimer: Product received for free for reviewing purposes The final decision, despite praising all the positive elements of the game that have to do with the art style and the combat system, can’t turn a blind eye to the technical problems the title faces. If Digital Furnace does not work on them, then I see two variations happening concernig Onikira: either the players will buy the game and immediately refund, or no one will bother to check the game, leaving it to the sidelines. And that…
