And he was right. This film established the Donnie Yen + Wilson Yip creative duo, which went on to make Flash Point, and then Ip Man.

unlabelledView post →Picking a random film from my collection to show off for no real reason! Day #17 "Chocolate" (Prachya Pinkaew/2008) JeeJa Yanin kicks all kinds of ass in this blistering martial arts film. An absolute gem by Ong-Bak director Prachya Pinkaew. Highly recommended!

unlabelledView post →#DendensMovieDen. No. 99. Ong-Bak. I was in for some mindless martial arts action, and I’ve known about this movie for years, so I finally got the DVD and sat down to watch this cult classic. I got exactly what I was craving, but I’m afraid Tony Jaa might have been hyped up a bit (1/6)
unlabelledView post →It should also be quite obvious that if you're looking for a good kickboxing film with crime elements in it, Ong-Bak is the way to go

unlabelledView post →Followed the inanity (sorry!) of Kung Fu Hustle with a bit of the old ultraviolence. SPL II: A Time for Consequences (2015) has some incredibly fast and visceral fight sequences, lots of blood and gore, this is what I want from a martial arts film. Stars Tony Jaa from the Ong Bak films. Good stuff.

unlabelledView post →If you think about it, ONG BAK 3 is the same movie as FOOTLOOSE.
unlabelledView post →The ex took my copy of Ong-Bak 2. This is genuinely my favorite movie, of all time. This is my the world fucking sucks and I just want to wat h Tony Jaa destroy it while also being a semi decent fucking human being movie. This is my comfort zone. This is my fine I am not a "typical girl" 1/?

unlabelledView post →Feels good to be reviewing a new Tony Jaa movie. (I was thrilled to be quoted in the ads for ONG BAK 2) It’s pretty fun, too.
unlabelledView post →ONE HUNDRED WORD REVIEW: "Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior" This martial arts smash film starred Tony Jaa as a guy who smashes his elbows into the faces of bad guys. There’s a plot, whatever. #writing #film
unlabelledView post →The cool thing about Ong Bak and Born to Fight is that you get the sense they don’t REALLY know how to make a movie but they DO know how to fight. So they’re somewhere between a black tank top movie, a Jackass movie, and a Jackie Chan movie. At the same time. Truly dangerous cinema.
unlabelledView post →Tony Jada’s Ong Bak series of movies are probably the best version of applying kung fu movie sensibilities, while still keeping what make muay thai distinct from other kinds of striking arts. This means taking a lot of Muay Boran strikes and adding a lot more jumping.
unlabelledView post →About 15 minutes into Ong-Bak 2 I know I'm pausing the movie to say this but: consider my attention in an absolute python death grip
unlabelledView post →so is the flinging of coins akin to the flinging of flowers at an opera performance? #KungFuSat #OngBak 💥
unlabelledView post →Thank you for that somersault replay, director. No really, THANK YOU 👍🏻👍🏻 #KungFuSat 💥 #OngBak
unlabelledView post →Legitimately fun movie even if a lot of people said it was just Ong Bak with an autistic girl. Every good martial arts film should get an autistic-girl remake.
unlabelledView post →THE RAID (2011) After seeing Ong Bak for the first time, the next day I thought, "man, The Raid really is the next step after this film, I can totally see how this took notes from that", and then went "...oh I should rewatch The Raid" and then I did. Holy shit what a peak film it is and remains.
unlabelledView post →ONG BAK (2003) A whole movie full of - "ouuuuh that must have hurt" - "YEAH!!!'' - "If it was cool, we can show it 2 times, maybe even 3 when we feel cheeky" Tien is a real life Baki character, I am having a good time, took me way too long to get to it, what a great gem of a movie this is.
unlabelledView post →I really hope nothing holds up Nak Muay. I really need another movie about Muay Thai that stars actual Thais. We need more than Ong Bak, Beautiful Boxer and Thong Dee Fun Khao. Well, I need more!
unlabelledView post →I loved the Kickboxer movie as a kid, but it’s so disinterested in figuring out how to make a fun representation of muay thai. They seem to just think it’s Thai karate. Anyway…watch the Ong Bak movies, they’re a lot of fun and he saves an elephant in one.
unlabelledView post →Run, Punch, Kick to go see #TheFurious Not since Ong Bak have I seen this level of brutality in Fighting found in a Martial Arts film Just when you think its over it kicks it up to a newer level! #FilmSky
unlabelledView post →I wa as thinking of this movie the other day, and couldn’t recall the name. Thanks Tubi! Ong Bak action sequences were dope!! 😏
unlabelledView post →So George/Humlae was the heart of this movie, and a giant Buddha head killed him? I shall ponder this movie. #kungfusat #OngBak
unlabelledView post →@flowerpot I know there's movie fighting versus actual fighting, but I don't think Thai movies really hold back on the whole full contact thing 🙈🙈🙈 #KungFuSat 💥 #OngBak 💥
unlabelledView post →yanno, there can NEVER be too many replays in this movie #KungFuSat 💥 #OngBak 💥

unlabelledView post →@speedballbailey.bsky.social I heard you bringing up Oldboy and Ong Bak with Sean Ross Sapp if you ever want to talk about a martial arts movie we'd love to have you on our podcast to discuss whichever you'd like, Fight Film Fanatics.
unlabelledView post →but without an interesting main protagonist, who’s portrayed by an actor who certainly has the stunt work and martial arts skills, but lacks the charisma of a Bruce Lee, Ong-Bak is merely an okay entertaining martial arts action movie that’s pretty forgettable.(6/6) #MovieSky #FilmSky #PhysicalMedia
unlabelledView post →Ong Bak is such a funny movie in retrospect. I don't think it holds up remotely as a movie, and Tony Jaa evolved into a much much much more dynamic action star after he left for a bit and came back. The big slow motion hits are still cool, but the actual moment to moment action isn't all that good.
unlabelledView post →Looks like an Ong Bak movie where he has to fight a gang called The Samsonite Boys

unlabelledView post →TUK TUKS! Would pay handsomely for one. Watch the movie "Ong Bak." There is a whole fight scene using tuk-tuks, A+++
unlabelledView post →The first film also steals a sequence from Ong Bak lol. But I'm okay with stealing from The Raid: Dredd is basically a remake and it rips. I think 3 and 4 are also derivative, or are actual remakes, but they're super fun.
unlabelledView post →Just finished up watching The Furious and holy hell what killer kung-fu movie. If you want to watch the next Raid or Ong-Bak check it out, you wont be disappointed at all.
unlabelledView post →51. Ong-Bak. Forgot to post this yesterday. Anyway, I think this is my favourite martial arts film. Largely because there’s a bit where Tony Jaa sets his legs on fire and starts kicking dudes. #365films
unlabelledView post →Yep, that was the first Thai movie I watched. I remember it being beautifully shot. Glad you liked it, I need to watch it again 🙂👍 In the meantime, I am now watching Nak Rak Mak Maak Maak 😄 Great to see Mum, Teng and Nong Cha-cha-cha together again 👍 Still love Ong Bak, one of Mum's early films 👍

unlabelledView post →Oh if you like well choreographed fights, you have to check out movies with Tony Jaa! Amazing Muay Thai! The Protector or Ong Bak are a good start. Also there's a lesser-known Jackie Chan film that happens to be my favorite Kung Fu movie called Jackie Chan's First Strike.
unlabelledView post →This techno music reminds me of my FAVORITE movie version of MORTAL KOMBAT (the recent remake sucked and totally wasted Hiroyuki Sanada) #KungFuSat 💥 #OngBak 💥

unlabelledView post →Here we go! Been a few years (maybe a decade) since I last watched this, but I’ve seen it well over 10 times, so this should be fun. #kungfusat #ongbak
unlabelledView post →I just had to dig up my favorite review of Ong Bak 2, so fucking funny but probably highly inappropriate. If you do read it there are spoilers I believe, so do it after you watch it... www.cracked.com/blog/ong-bak...
unlabelledView post →Technically no since Muy Thai is the fighting style that Ong Bak (Tony Jaa) uses, but odds are if you loved Kung Fu back then, you saw this movie too!
