As a strategy game, however, it's just OK. While you can personally manage the civil development and battles, you can (and eventually have to) delegate these to the AI. The real challenge and fun comes from the historical quests you get playing as the major clans in the different scenarios, where you have to achieve various…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forgive the nostalgia; however, I remember in the 80s, I went into Toys 'R Us and seeing this NES game Nobunaga's Ambition for $70!!! (remember, this is the 80s we're talking about!) My thought was...."wow, that must be a great game to cost that much!!! " Well after saving up with paper route money, I finally rode my bike to the store and bought it. My brother thought I was crazy.......but then we played it! WOW. Endless days playing this game. Even my brother was swayed. When the SNES and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly, japanese games like this type are always overpriced for what little they have to offer. So wait for the discounts, don't rush. It's not something special, infact its rather ordinarly. Is this game fun though? Yes of course, it has elements of fun that you won't get from total war shogun 2 like personalized generals etc. What's is bad is the combat system. For people who complained that Romance of Three Kingdom 13 is a number game. Well, they have to realized that Nobunga is the reason…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nintendo should get Koei Tecmo to develop another Fire Emblem game but have it be the Nobunaga's Ambition guys for Baby's First Grand Strategy. I would buy it multiple times
unlabelledView post →Well... that's kind of odd: Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV SNES ROM has the Mouse Flag enabled...? It doesn't actually use it. Yet Nobunaga's Ambition, the one game of the bunch that supports the mouse actually doesn't?
unlabelledView post →Get ready for a quick review Pros - Highly Historical - It has so much content to play, you are going to cry - Each clan has its own history - You can create your own clan - Even your own officers (but history flies through the window) - Very analytic when it comes to clans (trully puts shogun 2 to shame) - Same with officers - Very nice and deep diplomacy (alliances, coalitions, marriages, granted titles from the Emperor which gives you diplomacy perks) - Slow paced. You can actually take…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Starting up Pokemon Conquest tonight for DS Destruction! An interesting crossover between Pokemon and Nobunaga's Ambition, a Koei Tecmo tactics RPG series that has seen mostly Japan-only releases. I've played this game before, and it rules. Looking forward to this revisit! twitch.tv/Mr_Shasta

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →un satisfying and overly complicated, {thats coming from a paradox game player}
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the same series that has a crossover with Nobunaga's Ambition and a fighting game made by Tekken devs I don't think Nintendo ultimately cares what they do with Pokemon as an IP
unlabelledView post →I reviewed Nobunaga's Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 for @nintendoinsider.bsky.social. I enjoyed the game a lot with all of the DLC and updates included, but the lack of any upgrade path from Switch to Switch 2 sucks. My review: www.nintendo-insider.com/nobunagas-am...
unlabelledView post →It's basically the japanese version of Romance of Three Kingdoms...and from the same company. You can build towns, upgrade them, have some lvl of diplomacy and go to war, all in all pretty nice and solid. If you like japanese history or this kind of game in general, then this game is not so bad. BUT.... ...it's a massive click-fest. You wanna upgrade your castle ? 1. click on upgrade 2. click on the castle you wanna upgrade 3. click on the slot you wanna upgrade 4. click on the upgrade you…

Don: Sure, it could be a strategy war game, like Nobunaga's Ambition. But we could set it in New York. Mikey: Dude! Cowabunga's Ambition!
unlabelledView post →It is not a bad game, I wish I could post a iffy thumb. It is all about snowballing. Once you get that, you are a force in the game. I grew up with Koei games in the SNES era and favor those over this. Just my opinion. Not bad if you find this on sale like I did.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They enabled SNES Mouse flag in Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV Wall of Fire... that game doesn't support the mouse, like, at all. Nobunaga's Ambition (not Lord of Darkness) does support it though, but it's not even in the metadata for it for some reason, even if it would be unusable.
unlabelledView post →Was watching @wolfborg.bsky.social play Nobunaga's Ambition for the SNES, and the box art for it went kinda hard? So I got an idea... and ended up making some fan art! Meet... Borgunaga, destined unifier of 16th century Japan. #drawBorg ❄️☕ | #myart

Nobunaga's Ambition sells to me and like the 30 people who care about that series, so the game rarely drops from it's $90 price tag for the full version. Compared to Nioh 2 that will sell millions, so they can drop the price down to $25 regularly.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So much potential, but the interface kills the game. It gives you endless amounts of information, but won't tell you what order a leader is following that round. Some orders are multi-round, but other common orders, such as developing your crafts, have to be executed every round. After having 10 cities, I started despairing. By the time I had 15 cities, the bad UI killed me. If they allowed mods, I'm sure the community could fix these basic interface problems for them. But sadly, no mods;…

unlabelledView post →Feels incomplete, very slow pace, bad interface, good for fan base but will not gather a new one. So many little things are left in a poor state that could be ameliorated, this game really feel like someone dropped the ball. The setting is great, there was a lot of effort put in the history of the current setting and it feels like there should be a lot of options to experience, but the way it got put together just ended up becoming repetitive, gameplay without dept, a lot of info that serves…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's also really, fantastically bleak that Capcom treat basic maintenance on their game as something to be timetabled and put on a roadmap. man this company sucks, at least there's a new Nobunaga's Ambition to soothe the soul.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game, I know its hard to tell by how many hours i put in it lol. I mainly play as Nobunaga and take everyone out and follow the events until before Nobunaga gets betrayed than do what i want. Only if you could attack Korea but the game is still great it still have some flaws but all games do. It is also cool to create your own officer and make them part of history. It is really fun to start out with just one fortress and end up taking over all of Japan. This game is not for everyone…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't be fooled by the seemingly overwhelming menus and "things to do". Once you learn how to use the menus and the options, this game becomes boring FAST. This is a numbers game. - No officers? Can't do anything. - Little troops? Loose the battle or can't capture town after loosing most of your men - No gold? Out of luck, can't do anything meaningful. You'll have to wait a few months and then spend it all. Every clan is the same, there are no unit types, no special clan abilities nor…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great if you like Japanese types of games where they foucus on illustration and presentation rather then graphics. I like it it is realy simple and gives you alot of creative freedom to chose how you will run your clan. From diplomacy, economy to military. Its very easy to get into it and dosnt get boring over time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're like me trying to chase the nostalgia of playing the earlier games as a kid, I'm sorry but you will never find that again. I started with Nobunaga's Ambition 1 & 2 on NES and then later on the SNES along with other KOEI games like Romance of the Three Kingdoms II on the SNES. I spent so many hours on them with friends learning the tricks to defeat the AI and trying our best to outwit friends. This version, 14, is better than 15 but still didn't give me what I was looking for. Not a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Summary: 7 out of 10. Game offers a strong campaign and overall strategy options, but don't buy it for the battle map. Just don't. I bought the game on Steam, the PC version. Bear in mind the game was made for console and ported to PC. The good things: The campaign map is huge and features dozens of clans that you can play. There's no "fake" difficulty, so if you select a small clan with few resources, be prepared for a very diffuclt fight against stronger clans. Overall depth of design…

My opinion about Nobunaga's Ambition : Sphere Influence; Pro: 1. More complex for building developement 2. More new face profile picture 3. Has a new trait for female character 4. Provision logistic make it game harder and interesting to go war 5. More skills for officer/retainer 7. Have a quest that will make the retainer get more trait 8.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I spent hours trying to get the mouse icon to show. To get it to work, I need to reset settings each time. Having played PS2 era Nobunaga games this felt clunkier and messier. Slow paced. And annoying that when even tell it to "autoplay" for a bit it asks you every month what you want to do. The advisors don't really give advice. It is graphically good! It has potential. But...meh. Not worth it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super underrated historical strategy game series from Koei. The Nobunagas Ambition series started in 1983 - jumped from SNES to Game Boy to DS and even got a pokemon crossover game that was really good. The series is still going, with its recent title (Nobunaga's Ambition: Rebirth) that came out this year (Japan only for now). Sphere of Influence is imo still the best one of the newer NA games. In NA you follow the rise and fall of one of 20 clans of your choosing. You can follow quests…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I want to give this game a thumbs up, I simply cannot. I LOVE historical games like this, and Romance of the Three KIngdoms (also made my Koei Tecmo) is one that I enjoyed playing during high school. Sadly this game, possibly due to its source material (which ACTUALLY happened compared to RotTK which is a semi-fictional tale) is bogged down with trying to create a (too) perfect recreation of the Sengoku Jidai period 1545-1600. The game all but forces the player to play within a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its o.k. for a grand strategy game. Iv got a great many grand strategy game and this one i have to say has some really cool features that i wish were in some other titles but with it being a console port is has a great many issues related to that that just make the game too simple where it could be unbelievably amazing. The biggest issue is the UI because its a console port. Its hard to find people under your own employ sometimes. Its hard to figure out which of your units are busy doing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence is a good game. It might be a tad over-simplified (streamlined?) for the strategy enthusiast, but it's easy to play and doesn't have a lot of abstract mechanics that could muddy the experience. It does encourage (well, basically require) delegating parts of your territory to AI control once you get large enough, which might be a turn-off for some people. Being able to play out any battle in a Total War-esque battlefield is a nice touch, but it does feel…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Coming from a strategy experience mainly encompassing games such as Civilization and Total War series, when I first saw this game I was quite rediscent. I'd dipped my toes into the EU world and I just never quite was able to dive in. And while on the surface this looks like one of those sorts of games, in truth it's somewhere in the middle. And I'm happy to say that it does this well. I particularly like how the story elements gave somewhat context to what was going on. The quests themselves…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In my ongoing and likely futile effort to write a Steam review for every game in my library (#127 out of 555)... it's time for Nobunaga's Ambition. Okay, I'm a bit biased here: I love history, I especially love ancient Japanese history, and I especially especially love the sengoku period. Koei's Nobunaga's Ambition series is one of the longest-running strategy series out there, and for good reason. Think complex mechanics and readable UIs and a strong emphasis on individual characters and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So... I bought this game during the 2017 Winter Sale, and have been trying to figure it out. While I do like some aspects (such as some of the characters and the historical aspects), it is painful to play. Especially when one has played Samurai Warriors 4-II and ROTK 13. I can see its merits, but... I miss the more up-close feel of those games. On the other hand, those who like this meticulous detail and strategic view will likely find this game very good. I would suggest acquiring it on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game could have been much better, but is really doesn't stack up to games like RTK11, Shogun Total War. Problems with this game: - Price too high. (This game is worth 20$) - Game get repetitive real fast. - Historical mission are nice, but very hard to find and complete. - Not enought tech, weapons. No siege weapons :( - Strategy around the use of provisions is lacking. - Officer loyalty strategy is poor and boring. Items are borring compared to RTK.

Even bought a console just to play this series and nothing else. With that being said I'm not understanding this game at all. I even put it on the easiest setting with my forces having the early advantage... Well I thought I would. Turns out if I just sit and build I will continue to get attack by a army that has 4000 troops vs my 1800. If I attack and take over another castle then that…
