60 of 201 · most liked firstBeautiful graphics, and interesting premise but the game itself is extremely frustrating. The puzzles themselves are pretty simple, but in addition to the old pixel hunt style, the game doesn't enable the hotspots for items or usable scenery until specific times. Then, just to ramp up the frustration, there are timed puzzles, with the same constraints. Suddenly scenery and items become arbitrarily active or inactive, with little time to experiment and search. Feels like a serving of…

Just days ago in Nikopol, they murdered 31-year-old footballer Vlad Strelchuk. If they proceed the blood will be on Infantino’s hands.
unlabelledView post →This game is based on a graphic novel, or a series of 3 graphic novels that later got compiled into one book called "The Nikopol Trilogy" written and illiustrated by a great French author named Enki Bilal. The art in the novel is what stands out the most and is a very dark, gritty, and , industrial, steam-punk(architectural not the lame club scene), and is set in an alternate dystopian future where religions are now all powerful government parties and the ancient Egyptian gods themselves have…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals is a short adventure game based on The Carnival of Immortals - or La Foire aux immortels, the first book of Enki Bilal's Nikopol Trilogy, a series of graphics novels that illustrates 2023 Paris as an incredibly dark political dystopia with science fiction elements. Aside Enki Bilal's genius in depicting the surreal and the grotesque in Nikopol series, this game is a heavily watered down version of the first book, from Nikopol Jr.'s perspective. It's year…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was... interesting. The story wasn't exactly bad, but i think you need to read the trilogy to fully understand it. I personally haven't and the story didn't make any sense at the start. The game has quite a lot of action for a point & click adventure game. With action i mean that someone might be following you etc. and you need to do bunch of puzzles or move around really quickly so they won't catch you. Puzzles were quite easy and the game was pretty short (Around 4-5 hours, probably…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nikopol has never had a very good reputation on Steam, stretching all the way back to its launch. I've always been curious about it, what with its futuristic stylings and rad floating pyramid. Honestly, starting it up it felt no worse than a lot of indie adventures, and the sharp pre-rendered backgrounds and interesting setting did a lot to get me in the mood for some weirdness. But the weirdness was quickly drowned out by some unexpected pixel hunts, some aggravatingly complex puzzles, and a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, you need to understand; this is addition to novel or movie. So first of all go and read\watch 'em. Only then consider to play this game. Overall? it is a great adventure, not a best out there but decent.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This adventure game was just too boring to enjoy. The puzzles pretty much ruin any chance this story has at being decent. The art style was nice though.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first puzzle scene is fun, but it's all downhill from there. Plus, you can finish the game in a couple of hours. Don't know how much it sells for, but worth about 2 bucks, to stave off boredom for an afternoon. Played once, finished, and never opened it again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty damn cool adventure game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended for fans of this genre, but not for the typical gamer. It's a short, weird, artsy game with both easy and annyoingly hard puzzles. Play if for the atmosphere, the (weird) story and the rather varied and imaginative puzzles. If you are openminded you can experience a relly unique story and a very immersive game that keeps on giving you another surprise. The game and story is weird but I think it acutually makes sense within its own parameters. NEGATIVE - Short game (4 hours unless…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short, but highly imaginative adventure game. Based on comic, it has a really nice aesthetic. The puzzles are interesting and aren't too obtuse. The voice acting is a bit awkward, the models look kinda odd at times, but at that price, it's probably still worth it. i heartily recommend it if you like interesting settings, Enki Bilal's comics or short adventure games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crazy that this game is now set in the past.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pros + great looking pre rendered graphics + decent voice acting + immersive dystopian atmosphere + graphic novel style cutscenes + there is auto save cons - frustrating, obtuse, trial-and-error and illogical puzzles. it's almost impossible to play without a walkthrough - severe pixel hunting - a underdeveloped and confusing story which hard to understand as a whole - annoying timed sections in which you could kill - games using Myst style 360° views. it's not such a bad thing but it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting story based on "Immortel (ad vitam)" animation film that came out 2004. Point and click game in FPS view. Some puzzles makes no sense, like it is hard to spot a piece of rock on the floor, while it is least obvious thing to look for to make progress. Game is short. It only makes longer if the player stuck at some puzzle for long hours. Luckily there are walkthrough videos on the net. If every puzzle in the head, i doubt the game lasts longer than 1 hour. Graphics are nice, music…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pixel hunting, incredibly slow & dull story, clumsy mechanics, idiotic puzzles, an incredibly poor and lazy game. I don't regret purchasing any other game more than this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PROS: + Interesting story, but the plot could (and should) have been developed more and better + Good graphics + Good music + Decent atmosphere CONS: - Bad interface - Short - A lot of meaningless puzzles - Many "try and repeat" situations, in which you can die - At least one sequence in which you can get stuck, having to restart or reload (Bug)

unlabelledView post →Fun and short game. Not overly difficult, but it will make you think. The art direction and ambience is really well done. The cutscenes animations and voice acting are a little wooden and dated, but they didn't annoy me that much. Side note: I had to make this game run in compatibility mode in order for it to work on my Windows 8.1 machine.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like point-&-click puzzle adventure games this should be one of them. great visuals and some challenging puzzle imo. it also has an interesting storyline going on so you might get hooked.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5 Things You Should Know about Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals What Is It? This game is a train wreck in terms of production values, but it's based on a fascinating source material. The game is based on a French graphic novel series which is apparently highly regarded, but I'm left with the distinct feeling that a lot of stuff was cut out for the game, and there wasn't any effort to smooth over the resulting plot holes. Gameplay-wise, it's a first person point & click adventure game,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The secret is you need to read the comic or see the movie to have a clue what is going on. The story in the game is not well told on its own, leaving a lot of questions and confusion by the end with half-told tales and rushed through reveals. This isn't helped by the brevity of the game, which is going to be 4-5 hours for the average gamer. For the gameplay itself, the core is made up around point-and-click puzzles to solve. Some of these puzzles are frustrating pixel hunts that may depend…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played it through the end, but I can't recommend it for everyone. Nikopol is an point and click adventure with prerendered backgrounds based on the Nikopol story by Enki Bilal. And to be honest that is it greatest plus, so if you've never heard of any of those two then you probably want to skip this game. <tl;dr> Pro: + Nice Artwork, inspired by Enki Bilal + References to his works + Can be beaten in one evening (might want to consult a guide) Con: - Some very difficult puzzles - Timed…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I highly enjoyed Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals. The story, the atmosphere, the characters and the unique puzzles make it a few marks above your average point-and-click adventure game. I was lucky enough to have watched the movie (Immortal 2004) before playing, so I could appreciate the plot of this game. If you didn't like it, I would suggest that you rent (or likely buy it from your local bargain bin) and take an afternoon to watch it before trying to play this game to fully appreciate it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The main problem with Nikopol is its puzzles: many problems are either illogical (film cannot be projected onto a white wall, only onto a screen), or require the player to find a needle in a haystack (or rather a specific small rock in a pile of other identical looking rocks). While the first is merely frustrating, the later requires scanning the environment pixel by pixel for no good reason. The story makes equally little sense and makes you feel like you are playing a sequel without having…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's unclear whether something important is either lost in translation, or just expected to be found in sources outside of the content of the game, but either way, the events in Nikopol feel like a drug trip; nothing that happens ever seems to make much sense, and everybody who inhabits its world operates on some inscrutible, Lynchian-esque, fever-dream logic that never reveals itself to the player over the course of the game. To further complicate things, the game's frequently frustrating and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looks pretty, but endless pixel-hunting problems (find the thin black rod on the dark grey background), random timed problems (find the invisible pixel while being shot at), and nonsensical immersion-breaking mini-games (unblock a bricked up door in a set number of hammer blows - miss one? sorry, start over), combined with with a very short, not particularly engaging story, make this a ho-hum experience, The original comic comes out of the French tradition of beautiful art combined with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nikopol is a relatively short point & click that looks good and features some solid voice acting. Puzzle are, for the most part not overly complicated, though a couple require finding just the right spot in the scene to click on, and a couple seemed a bit unintuitive to me. Overall a fun experience, a good game for a couple free hours some night.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game by far is different from anything that I have ever played. Try it out if you like a change of pace.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art is decent for a 2008 game, but that’s its only strength. Puzzles are frustrating, with tiny hitboxes and illogical sequences that make the experience more irritating than enjoyable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A point and click game with a really weird story and weird movement. You get used to the movement quite easily but there is other issues with the game like: multiple timed sequences that get you killed if you don't figure out what to do fast enough and bad puzzles to solve. Needless to say I am not a fan of the game. Works more of less fine (freezes for a second from time to time) on Linux with Proton (7.0-4).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/10 didnt age well, and clunky
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is not good!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals" is an ancient game from 2008. It's a whopping 16 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for any modern gaming display resolutions (or widescreen monitors), hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on modern gaming PCs. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an ancient game. This seems to have been put on Steam as a nostalgia gouge, or just a cash grab to try profit from abandonware.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A decent game for fans of the Enki Bilal's Nikopol trilogy, and his works in general. But ONLY for the fans or people at least knowing either the graphic novels or eventually the film "Immortel (ad vitam)" (the best - both; the movie is/or was free to watch on YT). I think that only then the player can appreciate the content by entering this dark future sci-fi, enjoying original designs and nice pieces of Bilal's characteristic graphics from the trilogy. People not knowing what the Nikopol…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think that the only good thing about this game are graphics. Puzzle solving is more about guessing than some kind of clues or logic. And it is very easy to miss something, because the icons are so small and appear only after hovering over an object that could be interacted with. Also, this games does not have autosaving. And I have experienced some bugs during start-up. In short: DON'T BUY THIS GAME, EVEN WITH A COUPON!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Illogical puzzles and a story that is not adapted well. May check out the graphic novels this is based on, though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had the absolute divine pleasure of playing this game when I was very young. It must've been from a CD, although I don't think I have it anymore. Of course, when you're a child, everything is amplified by emotions and just being a child. My goodness, this is one of the most intriguing and original cyberpunk pieces I've ever seen. It's so shaky and awkward, whether it be the voice acting or the animations or the general picture, but it tries so much to get an interesting premise across the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a tough one. I wish there was a neutral option. There's lots to like about this game. The graphics are beautiful, and the story is interesting, if a bit convoluted. The 360° view is unique and works quite well for the most part once you get accustomed to it. Unfortunately, the interface is incredible small and there is no hot spot feature, so be prepared for a LOT of pixel hunting. There are several timed sequences where this is especially frustrating.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+ It looks okay I guess, voice acted too, interesting atmosphere - Possible to get permanently stuck by not picking up some important items and I couldn't get the save menu to work (I'm not the only one juding by the forums). This just makes the game unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like point and click games and even this was not like most games and I liked it. Story was very interesting but little bit hard to get to when not read comics before playing. Graphics are smooth and just looks good. On down side this is those games where you can miss things and be stuck when you move forward because you can't go back for needed things. And there is set order to do things. Also the game is only in full screen and no setting to change it! If I could give neutral I would.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nikopol feels more like a demo than an actual finished game. I can just imagine someone using this to get funding for further development from a publisher ... The premise was nice enough: A theocratic dictatorship (based in Paris?!?), aliens, a conspiracy, a sprincle of Ancient Egyptian mythology, what's not to like? Graphics & sound are mediocre at best and a bit amateurish at worst, the fixed points-of-view feel dated. The puzzles are computerised versions of what you might find in a monthly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game makes me sick.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those times when style wins over substance. Visually, even if dated, the game is pretty good, and the soundtrack doesn't feel grating either. As for the negatives, there are timed sections where you need to think fast, but the game may not give a proper indication of what's expected of you. The first part of the game features a particularly bad example of that. Also, sometimes you will encounter a rare case of moon logic, where a walkthrough will be a must. With all that said,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Point & Click Sci-fi game from the "White Birds" ( which was founded by Benoit Sokal). "Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals" contains in itself a thrilling story, good-looking visuals and in-game movies, chilling soundtrack and challenging puzzles. Overall, if you are looking for a short and interesting adventure game, than it would be the right game to infill your needs. Bravo Sokal.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the most part this is a standard "point and click" adventure game. If you don't like that kind of game, you won't like this game. However, even if you like point and click adventure games, I still can't recommend it. That's because of the timed puzzle sections. There's one right at the beginning that was a pure exercise in frustration. I hadn't even gotten out of the first room before needing a walkthrough guide. I will note that it's funny that this "sci-fi dystopian future" is set in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art is pretty decent for a game released in 2008, but that is unfortunately its only redeeming factor. The puzzles are very frustrating to do sometimes. Items with tiny hitboxes requiring seemingly pixel-perfect clicks. Sequence of action sometimes don't make sense and/or are generally very unintuitive, resulting in a harrowingly frustrating and unenjoyable experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Story is decent, but very short. Puzzles can be illogical at times and require pixel hunting. Timed sequences are quite frustrating and need doing repeatedly until you find the thing to click on. There are better point and click adventures. Only buy in a sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A big warning that there's a bug that causes all of the in-game displays flicker like crazy when inspected. If I were an epileptic I wouldn't be writing this review. It's a short, low budget pseudo-3D linear point and click adventure game with a fun little story. If you have read Enki Bilal's works, I don't think if I would recommend you to play this... Otherwise go for it and afterwards check the comics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh.My.God. This is SO bad...takes ages to find out how to do the most boring stuff you can imagine. Stupid puzzles, stupid tasks, stupid controls. No, no and no.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Based in the grahic novels "The Nikopol Trilogy", from Enki Bilal, Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals is a Point & Click that does not live up to the task. Back in 2004 I get in touch with this books since the triology was adapted to movie, "Immortel, ad vitam". Like the books, the movie was weird but I liked a lot. It is story of a dystopian futuristic universe with elements from the old egyptian mythology. Anyway, backing to the game. The game could be so much more...I cannot understand…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting premise but the game itself is very boring. Puzzles are dull and tedious and nothing of interest seems to happen in the story. The character you play as is not interesting in the least either. One of the few games I've given up without playing to the end. Not recommended. There are much better point-and-click adventure games out there - the Broken Sword series, the Gabriel Knight series, the Tex Murphy series, Lost Horizon, The Raven, The Lost Crown and many, many more.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Installed and started playing, realized I've played this game about a year ago and forgot about it. It looks great but not a very enjoyable or aparently memorable experience. Give it a try on sale but not a long or good adventure. I didn't like it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We should ideally keep this secret from any mortal. Because it sucks. Bad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful art and atmosphere, but it's mostly pictures, and not even avilable in wide screen. Puzzles were hit and miss. Game play was too short. Decent voice acting. Not much of gameplay and that is sad, as the source material had a great potential to launch a video game franchise but was completely missed. Stick to the graphic novels, they are brilliant.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only 4 short hours of gameplay, but good ones none the less. The storyline is interesting, but very thin. The game takes place in just 4 major set pieces, and if there was just a few more then the story could have some real meat on its bones, but as is everything happens "because." A good sale game, don't buy it for more than $2.50.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First off, this is more about a 6 or 7 out of 10 and not a straight thumbs up. Again, only play if you like the theme or Adventure games. The premise of this game is quite neat. A dystopian Paris mixed with Blade Runner, Ancient Egypt, weird meta religions, totalitarism, and some old school 70s style flying vehicles. Theme-wise this is my kind of game. The story is based on the French graphic novel "La Foire aux immortels" , which I have not read. At heart, it is a traditional FPS rails…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals could've been a much better game if certain parts of it were changed. The setting is pretty cool, a sci-fi version of Paris that is controlled by a dictator, but the story suffers due to the game's brevity. It feels like one of those movies made from novels and ton of detail are left out in order to fit into a time constraint. Additionally, while many of the puzzles are interesting, they also suffer from unnecessary object hunting that makes them more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story was poorly written to the point of being almost purely nonsensical. Why is there a giant space jellyfish? What's the deal with these Egyptian gods? Why is there a robot? Why is my dad running for president? Nothing made any sense, and not in a fun, quirky way. Gameplay was loaded with odd puzzles and "pixel ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" searches. Overall, not an enjoyable story or game.
