Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition
Developer Beamdog
Neverwinter Nights is a role-playing video game developed by BioWare. Interplay Entertainment was originally set to publish the game, but financial difficulties led to it being taken over by Infogrames, who released the game under their Atari range of titles. It is the first installment in the Neverwinter Nights series, and was released for Microsoft Windows on June 18, 2002. BioWare later released a Linux client in… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

unlabelledView post →Something I think about sometimes is how Neverwinter Nights and Warcraft 3 had INCREDIBLE module creation tools that effectively let you make full games in their game which promoted long-lasting communities and immense value for the product itself. But, you know, that's never happening again.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So uh, I just bought this game a couple weeks ago and only played it because of tiktok videos of Hardcore Permadeath DND style servers that were introduced. I've been just playing in one particular server, Haze Saltborne, and I haven't done anything else. Not even the single player. Worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It all started as a curiosity, to play a game from 2002 for the first time in 2026. With my love for Bioware (ME and DA), a couple of visual patches and HD packs for upgrades, I said to myself, 'Aight sis let's ride at dawn'. Then I learned that there were more than one campaign included. Yeah more hours gone from my life. My curiosity brought me to Neverwinter Vault and discovered custom modules?????? Epic campaigns??? Short stories???? WHAT Ladies, gentlemen and gentlethems, I have now…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ya know what still bums me right the fuck out? Neverwinter Nights 2, despite being my vastly preferred NWN game, didn't get a good remaster! Beamdog lavished NWN1 with endless, almost frightening amounts of love and care, and some fly by night bullshit studio cranked off NWN2's remaster

See, basically-

unlabelledView post →First off, obligatory ignore the play time, I probably I have over a thousand hours in this game on other platforms. Anyway OG gamer here, I'm 30+ and have been playing this game since it first came out, so let me sit down and tell you a bit about it. This game is very different, the gameplay is very much secondary here. Obviously the graphics are very dated as well. So why should anyone play this these days? Well again, this game does something no modern game is doing right now which is this;…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually came into D&D as someone who enjoyed Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights and some bits and pieces of Dragonlance I’d read. I tend to think in terms of fiction-first rather than game first with things as a result. For me the real treat was seeing Neverwinter and Thay in live action.
unlabelledView post →I will take any chance I can to explore more of the Forgotten Realms. The main campaign was just okay, pretty bread and butter fantasy, I think it spent too much time inside the city. I was relieved to get out. The DLCs are where it's at--some of the best campaigns for this game are on the DLCs. Some of them give you epic levels and let's you have fun with it. We don't see that much these days. This game is more of a platform for stories than just a single game. You can tell almost any story…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So you mean... like Neverwinter Nights made fairly easy back in 2002? Or do you mean, like a board game kind of thing? Naaah, it'd never catch on. 😜😉😅

unlabelledView post →Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, and Eye of the Beholder are great and all, but the BEST videogame adaptation of D&D ever made wasn't even a roleplaying game:
unlabelledView post →AOL Neverwinter Nights No discussion of early online games can go by without discussing this classic. The pet project of game legend Don Daglow Neverwinter Nights helped to define MMOs in the commercial space in terms of social mechanics.
unlabelledView post →It really feels like WoW was the game to popularize the idea of respec & push it into CRPGs. Before that we would just grab a save editor. Neverwinter Nights 1 had mid-2000s modules that served as character creators, with options including "Rebuilding levels", but it's clearly a different approach

unlabelledView post →The solo campaign is not even the meat of this server even though there are hours of content for those that like the nostalgic gameplay. The beamdog servers are what truly makes this game an incredible masterpiece! I am still playing this in 2026 and have been playing on Ravenloft, Arelith and Haze since 2022. Haze is very special, and by far my favorite. The DM's are active, the server is persistent, and it is sandbox where you can truly build whatever world you want. They have a builders…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The main campaign (least after Act 1) and DLCs hold up so well even after all these years. Bit easy so play on the harder difficulties if that suits you. I still find the best DnD 3.5E adaptations. Check out Nexus mods or the Steam Workshop for mods on this to shine it up. Super fun to coop through too. Nice you can customize content for even coop. Never known anyone to not enjoy this game and so cheap too during deals.

Enjoying every moment both of the Singleplayer game when I just wanna game, and in the multiplayer online servers.

RTS games such as Starcraft/Warcraft and the dungeon/adventure toolkit for Neverwinter Nights 1 are so fundamental to me.
unlabelledView post →What game have you bought the most times? For me, the answer is clearly Neverwinter Nights. I bought it disc, then again on disc because the deluxe edition was cheaper than the third xpac alone, then on Steam, then on Steam when they did Platinum, then on GoG for Diamond, and again for Enhanced.
unlabelledView post →I remember playing this game on the family computer as a kid. Its still insanely peak even now. I think Neverwinter Nights might be one of the best games ever made. Its like never winter at night. I really hope everyone on earth can experience this peak one day. The wailing death is so scary I'm so glad its fake. This is kinda peak gaming. I'm gonna get a Neverwinter Nights trampstamp when I save up enough money. Best game ever. 100/10 recommend highly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →grew up watching my dad play this.... we played hours of this in the old days then lost my disk honetly so happy nwn is still gong strong. The game itself is almost 1-1 with only from what i can tell some extra polish and graphical upgrades. honestly to the devs who will probably never see this thank you for giviing me another chance to be close to my father again <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a gem. It's an awesome remaster to a classic game, which is still constantly getting updates from the devs and the community, basically for free, with essentially unlimited content. I am glad I gave it a second try because 'teenager me' was too slow to understand the mechanics back in the day!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ahem Neverwinter Nights 2 is actually an Obsidian game, like other beloved trans classic, New Vegas
unlabelledView post →This is more of a D&D simulation than it is a game. Ideal for long sessions and rp, not quick drop in drop out sessions.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's sort of fascinating to me that Obsidian has mostly an excellent track record (with some middling B games thrown in, but that's fine) Except Neverwinter Nights 2, a game so bad I'm still struggling to understand what happened
unlabelledView post →This game can feel dated and kind of frustrating in the way older games often do. 3rd edition dungeons and dragons can also be pretty crunchy; so, the various build mechanics can be daunting to new players who don't own a copy of the player's handbook. But, by and large this is a very fun game with lots of content and with endless hours of potential dungeon diving fun to be had. Hard not to recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the games that has brought me the most joy in my life. I experienced sunrises and sunsets with it, all in a single gaming session. The depth is incredible. I believe it's the best role-playing game I've ever played. Thank you for everything, BioWare.
